Honestly, the cake tasted as if it was frozen. The decoration on the cake was so so so embarrassing to give to my mom. She looked at it and was like this is… Interesting? She waited all day for her cake and was disappointed. The cake was only like 2 inches high and despite spelling my name MULTIPLE times on the phone, the name on the order was completely wrong and wasn’t remotely close to my name. This is my 2nd chance with the bakery. A year or two ago I asked for a cake to be ready by a certain time and it wasn’t ready, and again the name on the order was completely messed up. Don’t believe the hype, skip billy’s and go DiMare’s in Greenwich or a bakery in New York.

A friend gave me an amazing almond croissant and I didn’t know where it was from. The best croissant I had ever had, and I don’t typically go for almond. I searched multiple bakeries in Fairfield area until finding it at Billy’s Bakery. It is the best croissant in the world. Raspberry croissant and breads are good too! Worker who was there was very helpful and gave me her opinion on different bakery items until I chose what I wanted.

I love the food here but the staff is awful! I walked in at 7:30 today and asked for a specific breakfast item and the older woman gave me something completely different. When I told her I wanted a croissant she glared at me and said’whatever’. The scone was great but not what I ordered. I will not be coming here again.

The woman who makes my bagel is very nice and the bread is good here. However, I have had 2 interactions with the gal at the front that haven’t been favorable and quite frankly makes me not want to come here again. She’s impatient and condescending. You say something to her and she gets this look on her face that appears to be frustration, then she pauses, sighs and says«again blah, blah and finishes what she’s saying» just sounding very condescending. One time I asked her a question on a monday and then went to clarify something on another day and she goes«again and says her piece as if we just had this conversation and didn’t really talk about it on another day. You’ll ask a question and she’ll pause, sigh and answer your question as if you are just asking the dumbest question in the world. She’s petite, has brown hair and wears glasses. She just looks like this artsy intellectual type who comes across like high intellectual being who can’t be bothered with questions from us mere minions. Their bread is good here but I won’t deal with this little girl every time I go in. If dealing with the public is too beneath her than she should perhaps become a baker or some behind the scenes position so she doesn’t have to talk to people. I have lost interest in buying products from here, I will find somewhere else.

Billy’s Bakery is not what is used to be a decade ago. Then, it was a smaller shop and there was a large brick oven right up front, the owner was always there, and fresh loaves of bread were packed up in bins along the wall and you sometimes had to wait but it was worth it. It had a Boston north end vibe thrown in with a little bit of European old-world charm. Fast forward to 2014. The coffee cake we just purchased over the weekend for a family breakfast with relatives was like a piece of brick. It was hard and impossible to cut through the crust with a butter knife. Dry, etc. Even the kids(who eat anything sweet) complained about it. I am going to return it. I have been more and more disappointed with this store over the years. Bread that I used to buy changed and became tougher, less fresh and institutionalized. And I have had one too many less than pleasant and apathetic store clerks wait on me. If there was more competition in town(besides the french bakery downtown) I don’t know how long this Billy’s would stay in business. The owner(s) really needs to bring up their game to the quality they used to have before they tripled their store size and«institutionalized» what was once a winning formula. I understand delivering their bread to local restaurants, etc. is big business but it can only last so long if the quality isn’t there. In summary, we rarely buy here(for the reasons stated above) and sadly, that decision was solidified over this recent coffee cake purchase.

Skip getting pastries here. Bread is good but for phenomenal pastries and cakes go to Luigi’s in Bridgeport.

Great Neighborhood bakery. Has every bread known to man and is made fresh every morning. You have to come early so get first pick. The later you get here the less the selection they have. The service is a little lax but it is worth the aggravation.

Love their pastries! Everything is made each morning, so it’s always fresh. The deli in the back uses boarshead meats, and their made fresh daily breads. The bagels are also made fresh. Their dessert cabinet looks so yummy. Also, everything(almost) is made fresh. Soups are also available.

I can’t believe the cake Billy’s Bakery made for a family member. They recreated the periodic table of elements on the top of the cake and it was flawless. The birthday girl is a chemistry major and the cake was perfect for her. Just the looks alone give this place an a plus, but the taste of the cake was superb! I don’t think there’s a bakery in the area that could have done what Billy’s did with this cake and perfectly create such a difficult design. If they can recreate the period table of elements, there is nothing this bakery can’t put on a cake! Delicious, beautiful cake! Thank you Billy’s Bakery!

I’ve always found everything at Billy’s bakery to be just okay. I feel like it’s a little overhyped.

Ordered a half sheet carrot cake for my dad’s 75th birthday party. Received a call from the bakery 4 hours before pick up saying that they do not make carrot cake in half sheets only round for 12 people. I need a cake for 30 people. Have to settle for a red velvet quarter sheet cake now… not my Dad’s favorite!!! Why did they take the order in the first place??? Next time i will go to The Pantry!!!

A solid bakery. Wide variety of breads: rye, rustic, pumpernickel, brioche, Challah, French, Italian, Sour dough, focaccia, etc. rolls, muffins, patisseries, cookies, cupcakes, tarts, brownies, etc. Green Mountain coffee. Deli. Bagles, cheeses. Service is really lacking. Every time.

What can I say, I love them. Their breads are delicious and they have other goodies that can make any one’s lunch or dinner quick and painless. A bit pricey but the quality shows. I like the crab cakes they sell and enjoy sampling their breads-they are quite generous with samples. The service is quick, even when there is a long line, it goes by very fast.

I guess this place has been open for a while, and somehow I just didn’t see it. In the area there are a few other bake shops and bagel shops, but this place does what the other shops do — and a lot more it seems. We stopped in and had some scones the other day that were good, but not the best scones i’ve ever had — but also it was pretty late in the day and they weren’t super-fresh. i also had a miracle bar or whatever they call those multi layer super-sweet treats and it also was pretty good but next time i would try something else. This place has so much to offer that I will need to come back. coffee, sandwiches, bagels, bread, cakes, pies, cookies, scones, lots of to-go things. fairfield is lucky to have so many great bakery options around here!
