I spent the whole weekend thinking about this review… okay, maybe not the whole weekend, but you get my point. I wanted sooo badly to enjoy this place the second time around, but sadly Bugambilias left me a tad bit disappointed this weekend. The restaurant was practically empty, but service was still oober slow. We went through a lot of chips and salsa before our drinks and food arrived. The lime margarita I ordered was super watery. I am not the BIGGEST Tequila fan, but don’t skimp me on my drank. It was pretty disappointing because when I ordered this bad boy last time it was yummy!!! The rim was salty, the glass was frosty cold, the margarita itself was like a Tequila filled slushy. Pretty much all the components you look for when you’re trying to get the party started at 1pm. For $ 7 of course I still drank it, because, I mean… it was $ 7. The food itself was very lackluster. My Flautas were too overdone and something about the sour cream on top was very odd. It had a sour kick to it, definitely not your average sour cream. I had my mom taste it to verify it was safe to eat because I was almost at the point of concern for how my tummy was going to respond later. Everyone else felt like their food was just«ok». The burrito was alright, the pupusas were average, the shrimp were lightly seasoned, and the enchiladas were forgettable. The ONLY highlight to the meal were the fresh chips and salsa… yeah, that’s not saying much. The waitress was new so maybe that had something to do with it!!!

Fabulous food! I had the Queso Con Loroco Pupusa, fish taco and Chicken Sope. Everything was fresh and our waiter was great! I will definitely be back.

We found this place walking around downtown and it was fantastic! The staff is very friendly and there was a ton of available seating. I am a picky eater and one of the worst things I’ve found about California is that ordering something the way I like it invariably gets messed up; here, they nailed it. This is not the place to go when you’re in a hurry, however, as they take their time preparing the food well, which is very evident once you taste it. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty, not too salty. I had my first ever pupusa; went with steak and cheese. I wish I’d asked for flour(a nominal upcharge) as the corn was a little overpowering, the way I find it to be with tamales, but the steak and cheese were wonderful. I substituted grilled chicken in the quesadilla and it was great! The chicken was shredded and a little dry(the way I like it). There was a lot of cheese on it too! Made the entire trip in to Fairfield well worth it! Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Service was great. The pupusas are good, the only thing is that the cheese was too salty. But everything else was good.

Papusas are SO good, I keep bringing friends there. Service can be a little shaky becuase usually it’s one really young waitress pretty much alone doing everything from waiting on and bussing tables, ringing up cash register and seating. So service can be a little slow or sloppy but she does a good job, just needs more than one person and some training. Any minor annoyances are totally forgiven because the food is just so good.

There is only one good thing about this place and that’s the pupusas. Everything else about this place is terrible. Service is extremely slow with only a couple customers. There is a stale odor within the restaurant. The workers seem to care more about conversations amongst themselves rather than serving their customers. I won’t be coming back.

The food was great and the service was also excellent. The prices are also very reasonable and being that we are new to the area, we are happy to have found this place.

Delicious! I tend to only buy their El Salvadorian prepared food as that’s what I’m used to. Their staff is always friendly, great music, large eating area and delicious food.

I seen this place after dining at places downtown Fairfield in the past. My friends and I decided to give a try, we were not disappointed. First the place is lot bigger than it looks from the outside. The moment we walked in and sat down we were greeting and given fresh chips and salsa. The chips and salsa was delicious. We never tried pupusas before so we did not what to try. After talking to the waitress she explained each one. I ordered the 2 item combo plate that comes with beans and rice and the pupusa de chicharron y queso and pupusa revueltas. I was very delighted when my plate came. The Taste was so good for both with the toppings it comes with. I definitely will recommend this place to all my friends and will be a return customer.

First time I’ve had papusas and I feel in love. So yummy and hot and gooey inside. They deliver locally if your within walking distance. The sauce and coleslaw that comes with them compliments the flavor. Ive had the chicharones and cheese with jalapeños.

Two stars are for the young man that gave us our takeout order. The food is average, nothing worth eating again. There is no spice, not much flavor, and the meat was overcooked and uninteresting. Additionally, the pupusas are half the size they should be for that price.

Had the pork, bean and cheese papusa and the horchata it was really good. The place kind of stinks and nobody came out to wait on us we had to walk up to the front desk to get the menus, but it was really good and worth it

This was our first time here. The sign outside caught our attention of Pupsuas and Mexican Food. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress and complimentary tortilla chips and salsa(which was very addicting). Orders were then promptly and the food came out soon after. I ordered the Pupusa de Chicharon con Queso, Carne Asada Soft Taco and Chicken Soft Taco. I loved all of it. The pupsua had great flavor not to greasy and plenty of meat. The tacos were just as great. My husband ordered(4) Pupusas de Chicharon as well and Platano Frito which came with crema y frijoles. He loved the pupusas we well and agreed they had a great taste and plenty of meat. The platanos were yummy and the crema was delicious. Overall the food was great, service was great and we will definitely come back again!

Coastal Fairfield? What the eff am I talking about you might be asking? Well, for the first ten minutes of sitting down at our table here, I was convinced we had been transported to some touristy, coastal town where slow, and I mean SLOW, service is the standard. It’s an extremely large space, almost unnecessarily large, that was near empty upon our arrival. After being seated, the waitress vanished. Might have been better had she never returned, but luckily for us, she returned with some complimentary chips and salsa to start our meal. These chips were amazing! Homemade and shockingly delicious(only reason I didn’t have to round up to one star for this place). We were all in the mood for papusas. Bad timing for that specific craving. When the papusas finally got to the table(believe me, it took a quick minute), I wish they never had. They looked overly greasy and one bite into them confirmed that for me. If I wanted them soggy, I would’ve just gone back to the kitchen and ate the dough straight. Trust me, would’ve made no difference with these atrocities. All of the fillings were horrific with the queso y chicharron taking the gold medal in a romp. The pork looked days old and possibly weeks, if not months, old. Disgusting would be a compliment. The queso y loroco and the jalepeno papusas were gross too, but manageable in comparison to the utterly repulsive pork. And, like a bad joke, the meal never ends. Like I said, the chips are top notch(but if you ask for a refill, don’t expect them to come back and do it, because it didn’t happen for us). I can’t see any other reason to enter this establishment unless you’re cracked out of your mind and in the mood for some vomit inducing papusas, then Bienvenidos!

We were immediately skeptical upon arrival for lunch today. The place was empty and had a stale odor to it. But we were glad we stayed when we tasted the excellent refried beans(yum) that came with the platanos we chose for our starter. Then when our three-item combos arrived we became fans. We each chose a pupusa, sope, and tostada for our respective combos and they tasted like solid home cooking. Nothing fancy or outrageously delicious… just good-tasting, satisfying food that hit the spot after an arduous morning of shopping. As for the prices, they can’t be beat. The plantains with beans(yum) and crema, two BIG combo plates with rice and beans(yum), a bottomless iced tea, and a half-dozen pupusas to go came out to $ 42 and change before taxes. We will absolutely return when we hit the nearby antique mall again this summer!
