If you enjoy low rent restaurants with crappy food and ghetto employees then this is the place for you… the place is dirty, food is not good and staff has bad attitude… never again…

I always thought of this place as «quantity vs quality» but today, another customer next to me in the buffet line, found a dead cockroach between the stack of self-serve dinner plates. When she notified the staff, they simply removed the next plate and walked away. Yuk!

PLEASEDONOTEATHERE. Made my boyfriend violently ill. Shellfish was spoiled. Disgusting food. $ 30 for the two of us to feel sick. Food quality is terrible. I am ASTOUNDED someone within that kitchen has a ServSafe certificate of training when food meant for hot-holding is cold in the center. The inside is like Chuck E Cheese meets trash quality food. Seriously — you will regret it.

2 star price, 2 star service, 3.5 star food, 1 star environment. Food when it was fresh was really quite good for a Chinese buffet, crab legs were there, I avoid buffet sushi like the plague so won’t even comment on that. Some interesting fusion items, hibaci grill was on point. The environment sadly, was, well, sad. A very nice building was run down, moist and stuffy from cooking(though it smelled pretty good). Mild mold spots on the windows, macguyvered drip trays, horrible upholstry damage. While I am not a fan of buffets in general, this one marks low on my scale, right above that mess hall at ft Richardson.

Bring your wet wipes! It is exactly as you would imagine, loads and loads of food. Not bad food either. I have been here before, some years ago and it is open late. No problems for me with this place, it is what it says it is and when you are hungry(like after spending a day at the car dealership) it is great to be able to just go and eat. Probably will go back because I like the variety and the value.

Love this place. Not everything is great here but that’s just a matter of opinion. Still one of my favorite spots to eat. My daughter is kind of picky and loves this place. It’s our mother daughter spot. The stuffed mushrooms, green beans and wonton soup are my favorite here. The spicy chicken, sushi, and chow me in come in second. They even have French fries, salad bar, and other things for those who aren’t in the mood for Chinese food. The staff is pretty friendly as well.

OHMYGODNO! I thought, I was going into a three or for star restaurant from the street, but no. The tiles outside where slippery in the rain… Going in I saw cardboard as the floor mat for the walk way, okay at this point it’s a 3 ½ star. Then they make me pay when I walk in. Buffets typically make you pay AFTER you eat. They didn’t even have confidence in their food. Three stars… $ 27 for two people is WAY too much for the quality of food they had. 2 stars… The environment totally threw me off. The restaurant was completely full of Mexican families. I have nothing against that so they didn’t lose any stars because of that. Unclean floors, seat yourself, Old food, not even any clean cups! One and a half stars… After a half a plate of food, my wife stopped eating… Everything was greasy, old, over cooked, or some combination of the three. 1 star… I could keep going, or I could end it by saying, DONOTEATHERE! I don’t know how it was before, but as a first-time guest I will never return to this restaurant.

What do you get for a $ 13 dinner buffet…(I know, that’s a redundant question.) You get a very solid, impressive two 2 star restaurant along with all its shortcomings and subpar quality… ‘And for $ 13 per person, you’re still paying too much.($ 10 would be more of an appropriate price point.) *See uploaded photos For example: In & Out Burger($ 12) — Two orders of their number three option; single burger, fries & a drink Carl’s Jr($ 13) — Two, six dollar burgers Pooja Indian Grill Lunch Buffet @ Sacramento($ 10) — Fresh; great portions; great value *And for the $$, all the above are good values.(Well, with the exception of of Pooja’s which is a GREAT value for a mere $ 10.) Pooja Indian Grill — There’s a reason why there’s a saying, «You get what you pay for,» and here is more of the rule than the exception.(Sticky tables included @ no extra charge.) ‘And inversely, «You DON’T get what you DON’T pay for.»(You cheap bastards.) My aunt, AG, was introduced to Great Moon Chinese Buffet by her grandson…(Sigh — SMH) Why would you do that to family? Would that qualify as elder abuse? AG mentioned that my late uncle & her would come here every so often. I often wonder if this is what finally killed him? My uncle survived two wars, prostate cancer, and marriage only to be taken out by chow mein.(I’m just kidding, I think it was the sushi that did him in.) Fellow Unilocal*ers have tagged this place with 1 — 2 star ratings and they’re spot on, three stars is pushing it, four and five stars is down right delusional… I recommend drug testing for those kind’ve ratings. IF you think this is a 4 — 5 star establishment, you need to stop doing drugs and check yourself into rehab. I recently saw a review for another neighboring AYCE spot but for sushi, the young lady wrote, «I love this place, AYCE and the fish is always fresh!» WTH?! Okay, lets do a bit of basic, business 101 — IF a place was offering the best, finest, and freshest ingredients, do you think they could afford to offer top shelf, quality plates @ rock bottom prices? «DING! DING! DING!» Warning: There’s a reason that PF Changs is not AYCE and places like Great Moon Chinese Buffet are. People need to travel to more urban areas like SF and taste the difference. However, be prepared to pay more than $ 13 for the meal. A few people have gotten on their soap boxes, «This place is the best, you fools don’t know what you’re taking about, blah, blah, blah…» I have one question, «What kinda crap are these people eating if they think this is the sh’nizzle?!» All things are relative and if you’re used to eating crap, well this might be amazeballs… ‘But in the grand scheme of buffets, this is NOT that. ‘Not everything was bad but the majority of it was«M’eh.» ‘Below are a few items that tasted alright. — Baked salmon — Teriyaki chicken skewers — Salmon nigiri — Malasadas(Portugeuse donut holes) Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate my aunt taking me out to dinner and the warm gesture BUT I guess its true about what they say regarding one’s tastebuds as you get older, «They stop working.» Great Moon Chinese Buffet reminded me a lot of King’s Buffet in Vacaville, also an amazing 2 star rating. King’s Buffet — If you’re curious and don’t mind a bit of adventure with a possible touch of salmonella, try it! Note: Do not set the bar high and you won’t be disappointed. This would be a great place to take out the significant other for a nice dinner to end the relationship. After we left, I was worried about the after effects.(i.e. — Crap’nel; explosive diarrhea) — «Fire in the hole!» Food: 2– Ambiance: 2 Service: 3 Value: 2

Okay let me start by saying to all these rookies, BUFFET, no matter what type, Chinese or American, but especially Chinese, they don’t put a lot of love into lunch time, plain and simple! Unless it’s a casino buffet steer way clear at lunch. With that being said, I love a lot of things about great moon. Me personally go early Sunday(dinner all day), but you can’t go wrong from Thursday evening to Sunday. I think this applies to most non casino buffets…

I guess in a sense it’s the Chinese version of home town buffet. It wasn’t a very pleasant experience. I mean I guess let me name the positives. I’m glad their main foods. Such as crab legs, salmon are cooked fresh but everything else? Forget about it. A lot of it looks like it sat there. Now mind you I know some things can sit but some of this stuff, looked bad. I’m a pescetarian so I try to avoid red meets pork, beef and such, and what upset me is the things I’ve grabbed had no indication of having meat. Most places make you aware if something contains something. If I grab a steamed bun it should just be a bun unless it says otherwise. Customer service was okay although the lady at the front looked upset, it didn’t come off as welcoming. The staff comes and collects plates that are done which is a plus because I honestly wouldn’t know where to put it. I gave them a two because who knows if this is a bad day or not but 15 dollars for an all you can eat Chinese place I would’ve rather went to an actual restaurant or maybe Panda Express!

Stopped by because I was craving Chinese food and it just so happened to be near the shopping center I was at. I have never been to a restaurant where I literally spat out food. And that’s embarrassing to even have to do. This place has the potential to be a striving business– they have the space for it but the food quality is horrible. 1 and only star is for their egg rolls. Which was the only thing I ended up eating. Basically spent $ 10 on 4 egg rolls and a half of a soda. Anyways everything is steaming so it presents as hot. What I tempted to try but was a bust– «Dumplings» were burnt and cold. «Lo Mein» was SPOILED. It smelled spoiled I didn’t even eat anything off of my plate after that. Had a bite of the Generals chicken & Mongolian beef– it was mediocre. Nothing special. Their marinated mushrooms were flavorless. Their crab ragoon was the worst I have ever tried. How do you mess up imitation crab and cream cheese? Well not fully cooking it that’s how. The wrapper was soggy and uncooked. I don’t know if they baked it or what but it was horrible. They had sushi but after what I just experienced in their hot service– I don’t even want to know what’s going on in their seafood department. More is not always better. I will not be returning.

I went here with a group of friends after training, hoping to get a lot of food to eat to help recover our muscles. For a lot of us, it was our first time here and after hearing about the new management, expectations were high. There’s quite a bit of variety, with the buffet being full of chicken, beef, pork, chow mein, fried rice, some soup, chop suey, there was a lot to choose from but nothing really stood out as tasting amazing. A lot of the food seemed to have been sitting for more than a day. This brings me to the sushi bar. The sushi does not taste very good and the sashimi was really rubbery and old. A lot of us were afraid of contracting food poisoning. Right next to the sushi bar is the hibachi grill where a nice chef will fry some noodles along with meat and vegetables of your choosing. Unfortunately, that did not taste very good either due to the old ingredients being used. My experience here was… meh. It’s cheap($ 8 for lunch and $ 12 for dinner) butis it worth it if the food isn’t that good? One of the few positive things I’ll say is that the donuts were pretty good, but that’s it. 2⁄5

This place is not as bad as some people on here make it sound. For one, almost all buffets make you pay for drinks and here they are included so I love that. They have food my kids will eat, it’s a Chinese buffet but they have French fries, a full salad bar, sometimes pizza, soups, etc. They have a desert bar and a build your own sundae section with chocolate, vanilla, and half of each. Today at lunch I went with myself, husband, mother in law, and 3 kids and it was $ 29. That’s waaaay cheaper than even McDonalds for all of us to eat. I love it because they have sushi and if you go at dinner they serve unlimited crab legs.(Tho not every night) Some examples of items are chow mein, fried bananas, won ton soup, buttered mushrooms, sweet sour chicken, French fries, salmon, sweet sour soup, egg drop soup, pizza, fresh fruit, buttered crab(imitation), kung pao chicken, bbq chicken skewers, fried dumplings, etc. Yes, it isn’t high end and yes they need some work on customer service skills. But it is always hot, is good, has variety, includes drinks, and won’t break the bank. Also, to save money they lunch time is cheaper so if you go after 3 expect to pay a little more. The mall is next door so you can go walk off the pounds afterwards.

I honestly don’t see how this place is open due to health code violations. They didn’t ask anyone to stop putting their hands on the food or from kids sneezing(!) on it, they switched tongs from shrimp to chicken, and everything else in between. Found a few bit of hair in the sweet and sour sauce. Could have been from a guest, but they need to look in to that stuff. No covers on most items, plates with«stains» that wiped off with a napkin. The waitress/dish girl watched some kids cough on and play with the dessert bar and didn’t blink an eye. When we were finished with our salads we had trouble getting them to pick up the old plates. When they finally did, one of the girls grumbled about having to do more work. The woman at the register had an awful attitude the second we walked in. I’ll never be going back there again.

Went in on a Sunday afternoon, hungover with the fam and this place was packed to the gills. Why?! I can’t put into words how sad the food here is. I’ve had fresher food at The Salvation Army. Member when this used to be Sizzler? You member! Can we trade this wack ass place back for Sizzler now? I made a Root Beer Float. Twice. That is how i filled up. And that is why i give 2 stars. Sorry i blew up.

We came to lunch and found more than 59 kinds of foods with good tastes although a lot of reviews said bad things. Only issue was attitude of young girl receptionist. She may make customers unhappy. We may revisit here again.

We heard this place had changed ownership and opened up under the name Great Moon Chinese Buffet so we were eager to give it a try. We walked in and advised the young Asian cashier two adults and one child 11 years old. The cashier replied 11 years old counts as an adult. We were perplexed since the giant sign above her head clearly said: Kids 3 – 11 fifty cents per year. My wife pointed this out to the cashier who said«no between 3 – 11 not 11» after trying to reason with the lady for a few minutes she simply stopped talking and looked away from us. As we left I advised her she should have the sign changed to which she neither looked up or replied. Needless to say the food didn’t look very good and we will not be coming back to try them.
