Very quick service. We went for lunch and it wasn’t super busy. Tables were clean and ready to go, we ordered within 5 minutes of sitting down and our pupusas were out to us in less than 10 minutes. Everything was delicious and for the price this would be tough to beat! MANY pupusa options. Standard places have around 4 – 5 different options this place had around 10, definitely the gold standard for pupusas. Introduced my Australian girlfriend to these for the first time and she loved them! Will definitely return here.

Well, so I ordered pupusas and they did take a while to bring out my food. The ladies there were pretty friendly. I decided to eat my food in the restaurant but shortly after regretted it because it was really hot and moist. So overall the food is really good(Salvadorian part). They’re probably the best pupusas around

They dont have many Salvadorian restaurants in my local area. Now I’ve been to the other one and I have to say this one is the better one of the two I know of. This one has more experience. They seem to know what they are doing. They are priced reasonably. Food was good. I wouldnt go as far as saying that they are the best popusas I have ever had but they where good enough to come back for more. The place is old. But the the side of town they are in it fits right in. Sure regular floor floors instead of carpet would be cool and a little painting could go a long way but we are in Fairfield. Im sure staying in business isnt exactly easy around here. Therefore Im sure they are doing what they can with what they have. Service was good. Not great but not bad. She could have come more often and asked If I wanted something else to drink besides my one horchata. Now to my meal It took far less to get my food here than at the other place. When they came out they where warm and fresh. The perfect size and the right stuffing’s. Sure I would have loved more curtido yet they seem to have everything measured to the T. I think next time ill probably order to go. all in all they are solid and if your in the mood for popusas I think this place is more reliable when it comes to that.

My shop is close to jalapeño’s and I eat from there often. They have such a wide variety of food I must say my favorite is either the Carne Asada Tacos or The Super Carne Asada Burrito. During the Winter when it’s cold they have a excellent Chicken Soup! The service has always between excellent and professional there for

Was very disappointed. I waited 40mins for my food which was never put in. Waitress was trying to charge us and put it in a to go container. Never an apology, not from the waitress or the owner. Very rude. Very poor service

Agree — not as good as Bugambillas which was closed on Tuesday. Pupusas were not flavored as well. If we want pupusas on Tuesday, in Fairfield, we’ll return to Jalaenos. I don’t think Jalapenos accepts credit cards. Just a few blocks off I-80 on W. Texas with a huge(drive around) parking lot which motor home drivers would appreciate. Two of us ordered 5 pupusas(3 meat variety) and 2 others at $ 2.25 each. We asked how much a side of rice and beans cost. The only waitress said there was a pupusas plate for $ 9.95(2 pupusas and rice and beans, so the rice and beans would cost ~$ 5.50). So we skipped the rice and beans. It was just as well because we took home 1 ½ of the pupusas. The chips were unusual and well worth the $ 1.00

Horrible service I had last time I went. I went w my sister to have brunch & the server didn’t offer chips after we made our order & as racist as it might sound she did to the couple that were behind, after we finished eating; at the moment to pay the server took the card without asking and to be honest we weren’t don’t decided who was going to pay. I will never go back there I rather go to Bugambilias or La Costa in vacaville but what a horrible experience I had.

My obsession in finding pupusas started a couple of years back when my boyfriend took me to this spot in San Bruno. However I was not willing to drive out so far to get this delightful goodness so I kept looking for somewhere local and found this little spot. So I have ordered the pork and cheese, steak and cheese, jalapeño and cheese, lorocoo(veggie) and cheese and bean and cheese pupusas. It is a super tiny spot that you would barely notice but it was packed when I came in to order. The wait is a bit long, but worth the wait. Pupusas look like pancakes with the choice of topping inside. It’s a dough that is toasted on the grill that is worth all the calories and cheese! This place packages it really well that it stays piping HOT even after an hour. Took me awhile to get home but when I ate it 45mins later, it was still super hot! Yay! The pupusas here are well made and the hot red sauce it comes with is good but I feel like it’s a tad watered down. The other spot I went to was a slight thicker which I like so it doesn’t drizzle down your hand and arm. Haven’t tried anything else but I will be back!

Their pupusas are awesome!!! I would recommend this place if you are in the mood to have some pupusas! The pupusas are a bit overpriced. I have lived in Los Angeles and their pupusas on every Wednesday and Thursday have a special deal where pupusas cost $ 1. I think if the pupusas prices are lowered, will definite get people’s attention!

I’m torn on how many stars to give to this restaurant. The food was good and the service was kind and polite when they were available. I had to get up and ask for more salsa and cabbage for my popusas because they were getting cold. There was plenty of people on back cooking, probably why food was yummy but literally only one guy waiting on the place. He gave me the wrong popusa and we waited so long to get our check. If you come expect a delay on service.
The ambiance is cozy, low key mostly family’s so don’t worry if your hair is not done. They play good music like Bachata and baladas style. The area is not the safest across from Alan park where crimes and drugs are an often occurrence. Parking is right in front so you don’t walk far. Over all I would come back specially if they hire more waiters.

Salvadorian and Mexican food?! Oh yeah, I’m on board! And you got me bad! This is a grundgy, small cozy, hole in the wall restaurant. Nothin fancy at all. It’s the kind of restaurant that plays Bachata y Cumbia for your background entertainment. Unlimited chips and salsa for 1 $! The pupusas are delish! Any way you want it, they will make it! Custom pupusas guys… well, almost. They have major variety on the menu. Chicken, Pork, Beef, cheese, Beans. Everything is really reasonably priced! The customer service is always great. I get to practice my Spanish, and the waitresses think it’s cute :) The manager(or owner, I’m not sure) always makes an effort to thank me for coming in! There are many options for Mexican food, but I like this one because it makes me feel like home.

Cut to the chase — Bugambilias, another Salvadoran restaurant located just up the street, is better. I have driven past Jalapenos many times and finally had a chance to try it today. I love the Salvadoran food at nearby Bugambilias and so was excited to finally get to compare it with Jalapenos. Pulling into the parking lot of an older strip center and stepping into the cramped and dingy restaurant I knew this was not the type of place I would take the family and I was glad I was alone. I ordered the tamale plate which comprised of one carnitas tamale, rice and beans. It was served with no salsa, no chips, and I had to ask for a glass of water. My first bite of the tamale produced a negative surprise — the meat was still frosty cold! I guess they did not reheat it enough. Hey, if I wanted microwaved food I could have gone to Safeway and bought a TV dinner. I called the waitress over who was dubious of my claim that the carnitas filling was still cold. Sorry, I refuse to eat poorly prepared pork, even if they did cook it before they froze it. The waitress took the plate back and I guess the cook was unhappy because I suddenly started hearing plates clattering. Great. Anyway, they eventually brought a new tamale plate out. The rice and beans were just right and this time the tamale was piping hot(microwave hot). The food was somewhat bland, and since there was no salsa I had to start sprinkling hot sauce all over the plate. I will probably come back to Jalapenos again so that I can give their papusas a try, but it will definitely be a to-go order.
