I took my employees from my business there last Sunday and it was AWESOME! We made a reservation for 9 people at 6pm. I noticed when I walked in that they close at 8:30pm. They let us stay till way past that with TOPNOTCH customer service. Jay, our server was AWESOME. Mike, the owner, also fantastic. It’s nice to be greeted by the owner when you walk into an establishment. I’ll definitely be back!

I have been there a few times now and never disappointed. Last Saturday we took from friends from Los Angels for dinner and it was fantastic. The chicken Michael Genaro, the filet, cowboy steak, sides were all perfect. I highly recommend it for a special night out.

I believe it is very telling of the quality/character of a restaurant by the way the owner attacks every negative review about his place. It is shameful that he also attacks the character of the reviewer as well. It took you over a week to make up a story to try to make me out to be a liar. Good job. Thank you again to that one waiter who tried his best to accommodate me.

Party of 11 @ Michael’s, Our friends and family had a reservation at 7:00. The team at Gennaro’s steak house were quick to great us and had our table ready as planned. Once we sat down our waiter was extremely friendly and offered us several suggestions on beverages and appetizers. A few minutes later we were all enjoying our fine spirits and began to order appetizers for the table. We had thick cut bacon, mozzarella and callamari. All 3 were great and the entire party enjoyed the apps. Almost everything was quickly finished and I highly recommend the thick cut bacon it actually melts in your mouth. For the main course we had filet, strip and the cowboy rib eyes. The hardest choice was to decide which to pick. All of the steaks were prepared perfectly and right on time. We all got our orders at once and the steaks were cooked to perfection. The bone-in filet was the best of the bunch but that is more of an opinion then a fact. I can go on and on but at the end of the day my review is that this meal was fantastic, the service was great, and the management even stopped by to ensure our expectations were met and exceeded. I will be back and I can’t wait for another great steak and friendly meal!

Went to Michael Gennaro’s Steakhouse for the first time tonight. Had the French Onion Soup and Steak Gorgonzola. The soup was a nice sized portion for the money. Was surprised by how much I got. Once past the first few bites of bread/cheese, I would have enjoyed a bit more flavor in the soup itself. Came off a bit bland for me. The bread brought for the table was fresh and good, but not warm(just something I like). The steak(8 oz filet mignon) was fantastic, the most tender I’ve ever had. Slightly under cooked from what was ordered but within reason. The broccoli and scalloped potatoes that came with it were good. Broccoli was cooked well, nice flavor. The scalloped potatoes had some form of cheese/crust on top that I wish was carried a little further because that part was incredible… But, after enjoying such intense, beautiful flavor, the remainder of the potato flavor fell flat for me… especially in comparison. Put that top cheesy flavor in the other levels and you’ll have something transcendent. I appreciated the additional salt that was provided when the entrees came out. I enjoy a nice fleur de sel at home for a finishing salt… This looked similar to Himalayan and added a nice dimension to the flavors. I don’t come to restaurants in this price range often. But enjoying the flavor and mouth feel of that filet definitely hit that sweet spot when I experience things of quality.

Great steaks and charming employees make this a great local steak spot where others are lacking. Had a nice glass of wine and steak au poivre which was cooked perfectly… Bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

Wanted to write a review for a while but never actually did it. After a terrible dinner elsewhere, last night, all I can think about is we should have came to Michaels. Stopped in here on a limb without a reservation on a busy Saturday night. We were traveling/enjoying a weekend in CT from NH. On our way home from shopping we decided to do a Unilocal search for a nearby nice steakhouse. We ended up at Michaels. They barely had any room for us but after a quick discussion between staff they got us a table and and we only had to wait a short 10 mins. We had our 2 children age 1 and 2 with us, whom have been going to nice restaurants with us since birth. They are well trained and mannored, however waitstaff would not know that. People tend to look at us crazy when we bring them into nice places so I expected it here. To my surprise the staff at Michaels didn’t blink an eye. we were treated with the upmost respect and the same service as the business men, and older couples enjoying their dinner. This in itself made for a great night. My 2 year old was treated amazingly, she got a mixed juice in a nice wine glass and was thrilled. Besides the amazing service, the food was absolutely perfect in every regard. Drinks, apps, steaks, dessert, EVERYTHING. My husband is a huge steak fan and is rarely impressed or satisfied, we almost never get a steak cooked to his med-well liking. Well Michaels cooked it absolutely perfect. My med rare was on point as well. The flavor and texture of their steaks was perfect. Absolutely perfect. The crispy Brussel sprouts were really good too. We really enjoyed our experience at Michaels, We would be regulars if we lived close by. I am dreaming of their food as I write this. We went to Hartford and ate at another«nice» steakhouse last night the whole time we both said we should have gone to Michaels. No comparison. Michaels is the real deal.

Boyz Night Out 2÷27÷2016 at Michael Gennaro’s Steakhouse Last night, my buddies and I had dinner at Michael Gennaro’s Steakhouse. We were greeted at the door by the owner, Michael Gennaro himself. We were seated quickly by our great waiter named Clark. Two of us ordered the Cowboy Rib-eye and the other two ordered Dry Aged NY Strip. All were cooked to our specifications. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer so much that we ordered a second one to go with the shrimp and beans. We’ve traveled to over 20 Steakhouses in the Tri-State area over the past 8 years and this was one of the best. I highly recommend it.

We came back last night for our anniversary dinner, and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was fantastic, and went above and beyond for us. The service here has been excellent both times we’ve come in. The food was just as great as last time, as was the overall experience. They’re getting bumped up a star, though, for the caliber of their staff — the service is accommodating and not at all fussy, but the attention to their patrons truly exceeds expectations. And I’m definitely looking forward to those leftovers tonight!

My wife had the filet and i had the 21 day aged prime porterhouse. Both ordered medium rare and both came out rare. They took them back and brought them back overcooked. The waiter tried to get the manager involved but he never approached us. The waiter comped the bill for everything which was more than we expected but not what we wanted. We wanted a nice steak dinner for our anniversary. Guess that is too much to ask for a steakhouse. We ended up at Bridgehouse and had a great meal there. To our waiter: Please find another job. You were great and we would have you wait on us anytime. After seeing the owners response, i certainly understand why the manager couldn’t be bothered with visiting our table. I obviously have no idea what a warm red center is even though medium rare is how i have enjoyed my steaks for over 35 years. My wife’s filet was cold to the touch on the center as was my steak. The waiter said«our medium rare is more on the rare side». Then they reheated the cut steaks which left some over done and some still raw. Even longhorn does steak better. It was our anniversary dinner and we wanted everything to go well. We were not looking for a free salad. If only the owner or manager had seen the actual steak. Thankfully, Blackstones knows how to cook a steak!

My girlfriend and I have eaten here twice in the past few months. I off the bone in filet both times, medium-rare plus! The first time was soooo perfect but the second time it was more like medium rare minus. I’m sure I could of asked them to throw it back on for a few seconds but just didn’t feel like it. It tasted great though. We actually had the hamburger as well and it was delicious. The side portions are huge and delicious. I also highly recommend the espresso martini for dessert. It is strong and tasty and big enough to split!

I hate to post this review because I had a solid meal here once. However, when you’re charging $ 40 for a steak as nice places should, you can’t have an awful night. We sent back 3 rare steaks(ordered medium) and finally just accepted it. Tough to swallow(literally) for a $ 220 dinner tab. The plus is the dessert was great.

This place is beeftacular. There steaks are amazingly aged, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Duck confit ravioli as an appetizer was an excellent choice. Nice wine selection and cozy ambience. I look forward to going back. Valet parking a must because lot is tiny.

Hard to categorize, in some ways it’s 2-stars, in some ways it’s 4 or 5 stars. Basically, the design of their recipes is good(VERY good in some cases), their execution/cooking is overall very good… but they’re held back by one of their ingredients… their steaks! And since it’s a STEAK house, that’s a HUGE flaw. They’re just not using high quality meat(we had 16oz NY strips). You could get better by choosing carefully at a grocery store, or a butcher shop. And we frequently have. They screwed-up my order, so I didn’t get to try their aged steak… maybe that would’ve been better. I will say their shrimp & beans appetizer impressed us all. I don’t like oysters, but everyone else loved their fried oysters, and even I found it ok. Their various vegetable side dishes were all great(scalloped potatoes, fried onions, sauteed mushrooms, brussel sprouts). They somewhat overcooked the bone marrow appetizer, but the person who got it was still pretty happy with it. If they used better steaks, this place would get at least 4 stars. Maybe 5, I don’t know. We were so happy with this place… up until the steaks came. As it is, I’m not sure I’d ever go back. Why go to a steak house that doesn’t have good steak? I miss Carmen Anthony’s in New Haven :(Such a shame, Gennaro’s has a lot of promise. If they can buy better meat.

Exceptional food. Exceptional service. The owner is the most hospitable and friendly person you can possibly meet, cares about every customer and is obviously very passionate about what he does. There is absolutely nothing I would change about this place. PS– Try the porterhouse for two and the bread pudding for dessert. Thank me later…

I usually don’t order steak when I go out, but I am so happy I did here. I ordered the steak au poivre, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. Everyone in the restaurant that I encountered was beyond friendly.
