Good food. Great service. One of our typical spots for a Sunday night.

The service here is excellent! I always enjoy the food and service at Joseph’s. Honestly, the steaks are good but I’ve never been blown away by them. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the waiters and bartenders are top notch professionals. I love the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and the salad with Pancetta(three of us split a small) is a must have. We’ve never had a bad experience. I’ve had the seafood several times and just about every steak on the menu, including specials. They are consistently very good. This is a great date spot, business dinner or place for the guys to gather and enjoy a night out. The comparisons to NY steakhouses is a fair comparison. It’s a much smaller scale but the feeling is similar. Joseph’s is very good. Of course the prices are absurdly high, but that’s part of the experience. Definitely go to Joseph’s for a special occasion or business dinner. You’ll have a very good meal.

I usually come to Joseph’s on very special occasions and have always been very happy with my experiences here. Ambience wise, there is not much to write home about it has a old school vibe. Service was good, the waiters are very prompt and nice, engaging in conversation with customers. I have tried the steak for two(porterhouse) which turned out to be more then enough for three people. It is borderline perfect— Ordered it medium well and it came with a perfect crust on the outside and a tasty steak sauce to pair it with. I have also tried the salmon entrée which came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. This dish is by far my favorite on the menu. This tasted like heaven in my mouth ! This is a top of the line steakhouse so be ready to pay. I definitely will come back but based on the price point, make it a special treat to myself once a year. Quick tip: I would recommend calling ahead of time if you want prime reservation times.

Just ate there tonight, my experience of the quality if the food was terrible. I have to think that it was a one off as I have friends that eat here and rave about it. Ordered Porterhouse for two, it came out and it looked a little different to me, a good ¼ inch around the exterior was brown and then the center was almost raw. I sent back some to be cook more for my friend while I ate it as it was, it tasted different to me than what I am used to, and I have eaten in many steak houses. It was only while driving home that I remembered when I have tasted meat like this. In my younger days before learning how to cook a steak I have on occasion tried to defrost in the microwave. It gives the meat the funny taste that was what I could taste, it would also account for the exterior being over cooked and the inside raw. I have no problem with them using frozen steaks, hell I would not have minded if they had cooked it from frozen. However for them to microwave the meat to semi defrost it then put it on the grill is very bad. The only other explanation can be that the meat was bad.

What a night! Delicious food, excellent service and a classy vibe for Joseph’s. I took my daughter and sweetie here on a busy Saturday evening. I got the bone-in sirloin that was so large, tender and very tasty. Daughter and sweetheart both got the surf and turf which comes with a 8 oz filet and large lobster tail. The prices here are NYC high and is the only drawback(EXPENSIVE). For a special night, this is «it» in Bridgeport.

Old school steakhouse. The shrimp and the crabmeat appetizers were top notch. We all agreed steaks were lacking seasoning. Guess majority of people order martini but wines by the glass need to be improved.

First off I have to say the steak was cooked to perfection. Walking in we were told to sit at the bar while it took about 10 minutes to set up our table. There was no bartender behind the bar while we sat there staring at the tv. When we got seated we got the young waiter who was funny and enjoyable to have. The food was good but definitely heavy and cooked with too much butter. The wine price is atrocious for the area. The tomatoe and mozz salad was good but $ 16 for 4 slices of tomatoes and 2 pieces of mozz was a bit high. It’s a good place for steak but everything is priced way too high. The servers were confused trying to sit people while it wasn’t very busy so it wasn’t a great first impression.

First, I will say that they make a excellent cocktails. Overall, we were disappointed. We’ve heard so much — people comparing it to Lugar’s… So not what we experienced. Our steaks were good — our side dishes were just ok, our bread wasn’t warm — even tasted like it may have been frozen, we had to ask for water & butter for the baked potato. Not horrible, but definitely not what we had hoped for.

Peter Luger’s in CT. In fact, better than Peter Luger because the restaurant is 1) clean and 2) the sides are as good as the entrée. I don’t understand the bad reviews here. I have been to Joseph’s at least a dozen times and they have never disappointed me. Every detail of the menu invokes Peter Luger’s, but having been to both I can attest that Joseph’s has steak that is just as good, and every other aspect of the restaurant is better. The steak is amazing. AMAZING. The steak for two(or more) is a great way to try out the filet and the NY strip. Close second is the creamed spinach. WOW. The thick cut bacon is great, but so big and heavy that it seems like an impossible challenge to try that before your steak. The baked potatoes are large, definitely shareable like the other sides. The mushroom caps are just OK – here, the butter overwhelms all the other flavors. I haven’t tried the non-steak entrees, but with steak this good it’s hard to find a reason to switch it up. To steal a line from the waiter, it isn’t Joseph’s chicken house! The wine selection is extensive and includes many delicious and affordable options. The service is outstanding. There is usually free parking on the street right in front of the restaurant, but if not there is a pay lot next door. It isn’t exactly a walkable neighborhood – but there again they have the edge on Peter Luger’s. I wouldn’t walk around that part of Brooklyn at night either!

What can I say joesph is one of the finest steakhouse houses in Connecticut and in Bridgeport, ct downtown Fairfield ave. Joesph and his wife family are the nicest people who make you feel at home there beautiful bar restaurant has character. Some people say its pricey but they put it on the finest steak’s you will honestly taste cooked to perfection. I worked for joesph was his wine and liquor sales consultant and tended Bar for some time when he opened the customers where a lot of professional people to your middle-class.joesph steakhouse Bridgeport ct downtown Fairfield ave can be compared to Peter Luger’s and Galleger’s steakhouse in New York City. Joseph only serves the besty quality of beef and ect. so enjoy have Martini and pick fine bottle wine from his extensive wine collection. John M. Lupulio lll

We always enjoy Joseph’s from their delicious salad to the awesome steaks. Yes, it’s expensive, but worth it. My only complaint is after dining here since it opened, it would be great it they changed where they purchase their cheesecake. It is the driest, tasteless cake I’ve ever eaten and we’ve tried it numerous times, thinking it would improve. Advise — delete it from your dessert menu, before someone else gives you a bad review!

I took my partner here for his birthday. I mad a reservation a week in advance and was not crowded but they sat us in the Bar? The food was good but very pricey and everything is al a carte. The Surf and Turf was delicious as well as the Filet with mushrooms. They French Onion soup was also excellent. Would like to go again but with a beer each and no dessert came to $ 190 with tip. If it was a little more affordable would definitely go back.

Just a complete disappointment. I used to be a big customer of Josephs Steakhouse for almost my whole childhood. Having moved away I came back to Connecticut to visit family and we decided to visit a old tradition, that being said we made a reservation at Josephs. First off, the whole dinner was just not good. To start the host sat us at the bar to wait for our table. I did what any person would do is order a drink. According to the bartender I looked too young and he refused to serve me a glass of wine. It is my fault considering I did not bring my ID, so I understand, it was the matter in which he did it. Continuing to say I’m not 21 and laugh about it when I am 23 years of age. Saying its suspicious I wouldn’t put my ID in my purse. Women forget things, let it go and stop fishing! My family was baffled. We sat down and I ordered the Josephs appetizer which was crab meat, tomato and mozzarella, and two shrimp. Eh, the Palm, WolfGangs and Capital Grille sound better to me at this point. The oil and vinegar were so bland and watered down. let it go considering this is a steakhouse so I ordered a bone in rib eye rare. I was so excited for the buttery melt off the bone salty rib eye I order in all other steak restaurants. The steak came and was so dry. I was wrestling it trying to cut it, absolutely no flavor, not aged beef, not fresh at all. It reminded me of when you microwave meat. Just not good, between the tasteless food which I am kind of skeptical about considering dinner was 400 dollars, bullied at the bar, and a tasteless appetizer and having to ask for my side dish twice, I will not be returning. No way to treat a young lady who made a reservation for her parents. What a shame, I’ll go to capital grille next time and order my Moet Chandon with my melt off the bone rib eye. They should be a little more respectful of their customers, and to deny me a seat at the bar so I had to stand!!! Shame!

Hands down the best steakhouse in CT. The staff(all men) are exactly what you want and expect in a true, old school place like this. They’re attentive without being pushy, they get to know you and anticipate your requests, and they’re just a great bunch of guys. The food is consistently excellent, and well worth every dollar. Steaks are cooked perfectly and served sizzling. Treat yourself and someone you love to a fabulous dining experience.

Solid steakhouse for the area, would recommend the bacon appetizer. Service was good not great. Bartender who I think was also named Joseph was friendly and knowledgeable of the beers on tap. Only complaint is the red wine we ordered was not available and a bit pricey for a Connecticut steakhouse.

NY-Style Steakhouse — Close to Home! We love this place for steak! It’s the next best thing to going into the city to Luger’s or Wolfgang’s. The steaks and sides are terrific. The service is 5-star as well. They just do it right!

Joe’s is great steak in CT. Cozy joint in Bpt that has some NYC elements to it. Yes, it is a bit pricey for Bpt but you get quality apps /steak and sides. Classy aged bar and a wine list that has some nice selections. Skip the other wanna be places in CT(Prime One Eleven, etc.). After all, Joe did work Peter Lugars for many years and brings some of that experience to CT with his personal touch. Enjoy …

Fantastic service, great meal, and the best steakhouse I know in CT. The waitstaff took care of our table of 5 like no other. We all had steaks including the porterhouse for 2. All done as ordered.

You pay Peter Luger’s prices, not for PLs steaks. It was alright, nothing special. Stuck up server with accent. Wouldnt split a check. Food was better than Outbank but not as good as many other traditional steak houses out there.
