Great value for the price, and the fish is fresh. Selection of fish is limited, ambience is non-existent. Service is from a counter, but the staff do smile. The tempura is delicious.. . I eat here regularly, and the place does a brisk take-out business. If you want a sashimi dinner with soup and salad under $ 15 this is the place!

This place is pretty damn good! We stopped here on the way back from Vacaville and were not disappointed. Tons of awesome craft rolls to chose from, different soups, tempura, you name it! It’s a small place, but there’s seating outside as well. Good service, good food. Definitely recommend.

This place seems to have gone a little downhill over the years. Ask me when I first visited maybe 10 years ago and I would be looking for a reason not to give it five stars. It’s still a bang-for-buck, especially with the lunch combos but the quality and value has slipped… Particularly in the later hours of the day.

Absolutely rude. Rude people, terrible service, and disrespectful. I asked for a modification on my order and was charged more than the actual roll costed and told it couldnt be done. Ive gone here for years and i wish the old staff was back. Never coming back.

This used to be a decent sushi place. After extremely slow service(even when there not busy) the guy at the counter and one of the cooks being extremely disrespectful and calling my daughter an inappropriate name in Spanish(I guess they figured we are not bilingual) I will be taking my business elsewhere. I would recommend Fuji in Vacaville or Ekio’s in Napa. I have given them numerous times to redeem themselves. About 6 months ago a tweeker lady attacked my mother inlaw and daughter and the staff did nothing about it. This place is going down hill. The food does not taste fresh and the staff needs to be trained on proper customer service and manners.

Sushi is everywhere but if you want the best sushi ever then Yo Sushi Fairfield is the best place, EVER. It’s been around for a very long time and when I was first introduced I didn’t really believe sushi was something to eat for dinner. I thought sushi was one of those things where you buy at raleys and munch on as a snack. It’s completely different. I am always pleased to come here with myself, friends, and family. I don’t care if the place is very small. It’s a unique place to dine in with the best fresh sushi. What more do you want? The workers are extremely nice, environment feels safe to me, and it can get very busy. Calling in is such a struggle but if you really want the best sushi you can keep calling until they answer but be patient. You will know why they’re so busy. They’re the best in town :)

This place is great, albeit small. You can get some flavorful and delicious sushi, some more traditional with subtle flavors like futomaki, but many are more modern and fusion with bold and bright flavors, packed with deep fried crab or cream chese. The small building contributes to the overall feel, compressed, much like many of the restaurants you would actually find in Japan, but there are some practical downsides. For one, some of the seating area is directly in front of the menu on the wall. So if you sit there, you are blocking part of the menu from people who are looking to order. And if any family comes in with loud kids, it’s like you’re sitting right next to them(because you practically are.) But I’ve found the crowd there to be pretty tolerable, and the food is worth it. If you like sushi, at least try it, you can get it to go if it’s too busy. And order the inari.

The Dragon roll and Sexy roll are my favorites! The staff is very friendly and was cool enough to make me a huge platter of sushi once to ask my friend to prom 30 minutes before they closed! It was a last minute«promposal» and my date loved it. Thanks Yo’s!

This place is small. This place gets super busy during lunch time. They have very reasonable lunch specials. If you can’t find parking in there parking lot I recommend parking on the Wyoming St. The times I’ve been here I alway had to park here. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable.

Not impressed with this sushi joint. The rolls fall apart so the rice is poorly prepared.(and no it’s not chopstick user error because I’ve been using chopsticks since I was 2) The sushi was also kind of warm when we received it… umm warm sushi is nasty yo. The poke was very onion heavy… Costco has better poke. I know this is probably the best sushi joint in the area according to reviews, but I’m starting to think people rate it higher out of desperation. 2-stars because you won’t die from eating the sushi here.

What this lacks in size, makes up for in amazing cuisine. Forever in love with this ‘whole in the wall’ as my husband described it. The cash register is directly in front of the entrance which is kind of a pain, I ran into 3 people immediately walking in. I suggested we get food to go, but they have some seating which we eventually decided to use instead, not enough staff to keep up with cleaning tables though. The crew were friendly and the food was THEBOMB! I always have a quickly reached limit for sushi as I get full fast and a lot of places even start to taste the same, but damn this was too good to quit! We ordered Lion King, Fantasy and Fairfield Rolls and loved them all. I can’t wait to go back already! Prices were slightly over what I’d want to pay, these three were about $ 24. Go eat here NOW!

I must say I have drive past this hole in the wall so many times and said I would never get my sushi from this old Fast food looking restaurant. Don’t be fooled like I was until the other day! OMGTHEBESTEVER! The Angry Lion King and the OMGROLL the combinations they came up with were amazing. I can’t wait to go back and try everything else they have. Remember this isn’t your typical sushi restaurant it’s tiny inside but packs a big punch in taste and creativity. Check them out. OMG they take phone orders!!! Never again will o wait in that madness looks like they seat only 22 people inside and maybe a extra 10 outside.

After 14 years, Yo Sushi is still my favorite place for Japanese! My current favorite is the ISLAND roll… I just discovered this one a couple months ago. Where was I!!! It has all my favorite flavors: salmon, avocado, fried shrimp, sauce, and lemon. The lemon is not overpowering at all. Please try it. You will love it.

Never knew this place had legit sushi for a cheap price! Another hole in a wall sushi, but this time in Fairfield! The only downside is that it’s super small in the inside, so take out is usually the way to go. As for their menu, they have a lot of sushi to choose from, there’s also pictures with almost every single one of them to give a general idea as to what the food will look like. Service is quick, probably 10 minutes max. Being that it’s small, the place can be packed, especially after school and work. Ordered different kinds of sushi because when hungry, indecisive takes over. It was a good idea too because everything that was ordered were good; they were fresh. As for their boba drinks, it was okay. It somewhat lacked flavor and it was a little more of the icey slushie type than it is a smoothie. But overall impression is great. Looking forward to coming back.

Go to Sushi spot!!! I’m not a fan of the compact sitting area, but the sushi is decently good! I have no complaints about the portions and taste! My hubby almost always gets the Titanic and Spicy Garlic white tuna. Me– definitely the Lion Roll and the Fiona roll. The service is good and pretty quick. Order ahead of time and take home works all the time!

‘Came here on a hot as usual day, walked inside… ‘And it was equally warm too.(Sigh) Did someone leave the heater on? It’s like going to that really old relatives house who always has the house at a constant 79 °F… Now, just add a fish scented, Glade Plug-in to the picture, «BINGO!» Welcome to Yo Sushi! WTH? LOL — Why is it so damn warm in here… ‘Better eat your sushi fast because if it sits too long, with the inside temperature, you’re California Roll is going to be well done, extra crispy. However, I have to add, Yo Sushi does offer complementary water… Well, of course they do, it’s like a goddamn greenhouse in here. I’ve never had sushi in a sauna, I should’ve worn my swim trunks.(There’s an idea… Well, after all they do have«Hot Yoga?») Okay before I continue, I have to say that the customer service was very good. There are only a handful of tables and by the lack of seating, it’s safe to guess that people share their tables w/complete strangers.(Reminds me of the real hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants you find in San Francisco… ‘But Japanese, with no A/C or good ventilation.) Sharing is caring, that’s cool. The only table available was just vacated by a family of three, leaving puddles of shoyu and renegade pieces of rice on the table. I walked up to the counter, asked the young lady if I could get a towel to wipe down the table.(Hey, I’m not too proud or fu’fu to help myself… After all, I’m not having omakase @ «Urasawa,» in Beverly Hills where the $$$$$ here is the equivalent to buying court side Laker’s tickets.) I was very happy to see that w/o hesitation the young lady grabbed a towel, «Don’t worry about it, I’ll get it for you.»(Service: 3+) A big mahalo for the aloha! I was really looking forward to trying Yo Sushi w/the 4 out of 5 star rating. I didn’t let the 70’s, burger stand turned sushi spot discourage me… ‘Never judge a book by it’s cover.(But then again, a book won’t give you food poisoning and the sh*ts… I’m kidding, «Fifty Shades of Grey,» did.) Their most popular roll, «The Angry Lion King.»(Uhm, why…) Well, «When in Rome?!» So, after trying a couple of pieces I came upon the conclusion of a few possible appropriate names for The Angry Lion King. 1. Waste Money — The names says it all 2. The Angry Cry’n King — ‘Because after you get upset @ what you just paid $ 10 for, you’ll cry. 3. The Angry Lying King — ‘Because someone’s not telling the truth, «This is their most popular roll?»(That’s crazy!) 4. The $ 10 Hot Mess That’s Mostly Rice & Artificial Crab(i.e. — A dressed up CA Roll) Photo — ‘And like most, trendy, fast food sushi spots, you’re going to find a lot of CA Roll variations w/clever and catchy names, drenched in some«Special Sauce,» and/or baked.(However, if you’re equally baked yourself, I’m sure you’re not going to give a sh*t.) It’s like hamburgers… Throw on BBQ sauce, it’s a BBQ Burger, teriyaki sauce, it’s a teri-bruger, a pineapple & teri sauce, a Hawaiian burger, tah’dah!(‘And the same is true for a lot of these sushi places that have a zillion rolls… It’s a CA Roll w/costume changes.) My other staple, must-try order @ any new sushi restaurant is saba nigiri.(Mackerel) You can’t really go wrong with saba… Well, unless it’s old.(‘And it was.) I was a bit surprised @ the price, $ 3.25, since it’s wholesale price is relatively inexpensive. Photo — ‘Another must-try sushi order of mine is the uni.(Sea urchin) If you really want to give any sushi place the real freshness/taste test, order the uni. I was very surprised to see it even offered on their menu… However, after sampling The Angry Cry’n King and not-so-fresh-feeling, saba, it was best not to.(As the ol’ saying goes, «Better safe than spending the next couple days sitting w/my @ss glued to the toilet.) For the $$, pass. There are a lot of other sushi places that you can actually enjoy eating inside and not worry about sweating into your own miso soup… ‘Auto-canabalism. This isn’t a third world country where A/C is nothing more than a far fetched thought, like cable and indoor plumbing. WinCo, Safeway, and The Nugget make fresh sushi daily that I’d have no problem getting a platter from before here… ‘But each to his own. I grew up in Hawai’i, where the sushi, sashimi, and poke were some of the best that I’ve had. Yo Sushi, gets a rating of «M’eh…»(‘And coupled with the greenhouse effect of the restaurant, fail.) Yo Sushi has its target market, clearly evident by the reviews. However, if you’re wanting to try sushi of a different caliber, try Ayame Sushi in Vacaville. One of the best places to get great sushi. One word, fresh… ‘And quality.(Okay three words.) Ayame — Big Aloha! Food: 2 Ambiance: 2 Service: 3+ Value: 1

My girlfriend and I came here knowing the previous reviews of this place were excellent so we thought we would give it a try. The place from the outside isn’t really aesthetically pleasing but that’s not what it’s about. As we received our food, we were more than pleased, the rolls were 5 star. Even after we finished our rolls we went back in line to order more, that’s how good it was. We will forsure be back.

The sushi rolls were great. My bf and I ordered the yo nachos, bonito dragon, and deluxe spicy tuna. They were all really tasty and the fish tasted fresh. None of the rolls were covered in excess sauce so you could really taste the fish. After eating these rolls we wanted more. So we ordered the spicy seafood ramen and the monkey brain. The monkey brain was interesting. It’s fried avocado with crab on top. The spicy seafood ramen was definitely SPICY. I’m a spicy food lover so I can handle the heat but this ramen was hella spicy. It was a little too spicy for my bf too who also loves spicy food. We had to add some soy sauce in it just so we could eat the ramen. It’s hard to enjoy food when the spiciness is just too much. Like other Unilocalers noted, the place itself is kinda janky. Located on a busy street the place is really small and old. There’s not a lot of seating and it can get busy during lunch time. Luckily, we came before the lunch rush. The wait wasn’t long either, we got our food fast. Definitely one of the better sushi places I’ve had. The prices were also reasonable. For all our food we paid about $ 40.(Could have went to fujis but it’s all good. This place is bomb.)

I’ve been to Yo in Fairfield a few times now and have liked the food I ordered every time. The Travis, Awesome, and Dragon rolls are my favorites. It does take a while for your food to come out after your order, but I’m okay waiting because then I know that it has been freshly rolled. I haven’t tried anything other than their rolls here, but if the quality of the rolls translates into all of their food, I’m sure it’s really good. The location has is very small and has limited seating, so I usually order and pick up. On yesterday’s order, they forgot one of the dragon rolls that I had ordered, but the cashier asked for one to be made immediately for us when we came in to pay. I like that in their to-go boxes they give you soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. I think they’ve implemented a new policy where you have to pay for extra sauce. At least, there’s a sign above the cashier that says you do. My one problem with Yo is that they are a bit too expensive. Their prices are about $ 1 higher than the ones I found listed online. I think the taste and freshness of the sushi are of higher quality than many other sushi restaurants, but paying $ 10 for a roll(Awesome was $ 9.50 and Dragon was $ 9) is a bit much. When we were paying for our order, the total came out to $ 40 for 4 rolls, which was a little hard to digest considering that we normally go to a buffet for the same price. For the taste of the food, YO would have definitely gotten a 4.5, but the price is not equivalent to the value in my opinion. If you don’t mind spending the money, you should definitely try this place.

I like big bento boxes and I cannot lie. So I was a bit displeased when I ordered my bento and realized how tiny it was. Food: As I mentioned above, I ordered a bento box during dinner time. I cannot recall the price, but I want to say it was under 10 dollars… don’t quote me though. I ordered a two piece bento that came with salmon teriyaki, tempura, white rice and guess what? No miso or salad, big bummer! The salmon was cooked well and flaky, however the teriyaki sauce was rather bland for my palate. The tempura was very crispy, but way too oily. I also ordered a lion king roll on the side, because I wasn’t too happy with my bento as you can tell. The roll was exceptional, warm and a good balance of sweet and savory. Service: You order at the counter and you get up and grab your own food and wait your own table, this was all new to me, since most Japanese restaurants wait your table, etc. However, just by looking at the storefront you get more of a fast-food japanese restaurant feel. Ambiance: Tiny restaurant, busy and a bit cramped. However, they do offer outside seating, but during this time of the year you don’t want to be dining outside unless you’re ready to fry. Overall: I’ll come back for the rolls, but not the bento.
