I have eaten here twice and I have to say i was let down and will never return. I ordered the seafood ramen and it had an odour. It smelled of sulfur or bad egg and was murky. The murkyness alone would have been ok but coupled with the smell… I couldn’t take it! I cant eat something that smells weird and I cant see the bottom. Nope… hella nope. I got nauseous and I only felt better when the soup was away from me.

This is my second time eating here and I honestly don’t know why I ate it for a second time. Both times I got sick this place should probably be closed down.

Never again. Why serve us sushi when you’re in the process of tearing down photos from the wall and getting ready to move to the new location in only one day. I am so beyond upset. We ordered 3 rolls all that were bland and the soy sauce was generic poured into a kikoman bottle. I only know this since I eat sushi 4 times a week & know kikoman! While the girl tore the photos down so did parts of the paint from the wall. Dust fell onto our food. And needless to say, the sushi did not taste fresh. We both came home sick and both stayed laying beside the toilet for a hour. They’re so cheap they won’t even give us a refund for our Meal.

My husband and I love sushi, and had heard good things about this place. However this place proved to be disappointing. Upon arrival my husband was torn about even going in, Sushi Tandy is located next to a liquor store in a pretty sketchy looking part of town. But we had heard people say only good things so we decided to go in. We walked in and took in the place, it was decent and clean except for the fish tank located next to the door that was half empty and had one lone dead fish floating around the tank… not very promising look for a sushi place. The service was slow even though there was only one other table being occupied by a small party. We had to go get the waitress to let her know we were ready to order and would like some water. Aside from that, the waitress was friendly and checked on us regularly the rest of the time. We ordered the all you can eat sushi and once the waitress placed my 1st roll on the table, I knew this place wasn’t any good when it came to sushi. My roll was huge! It had been rolled with an atrocious amount of rice, it should have just been called a rice roll. My husband ordered the unagi roll, which is his favorite with cooked eel on top of rice, the roll was huge due to the all the rice and the portion of eel, was literally paper thin… it was almost yeah all in all we won’t be returning to this place again, for the price we paid we could get awesome sushi elsewhere. They did give free fried ice crème though…

Lets start this by addressing the fact that I LOVESUSHI there is not anything in the ocean i wont eat. Went here for lunch today because a coworker raved about it. I should have known it was not going to be good if we were the only people in the restaurant during what should be a busy lunch hour… we both got the all you can eat. There was way too much rice in each roll and every roll on the menu was just a poor reconstruction of all the other rolls offered. Upon eating my second roll(the skyline roll) my eyes lit up in horror as the textures and flavors unfolded in my mouth. I thought possibly it was a fluke so went back for another bite. There was not enough wasabi, ginger, or soy sauce in the entire restaurant to make this palletable. I look at my watch as our lunch our was coming close to an end and instead if pitching a fit just requested our bill. My coworker asked me what my roll was but keep expressing that we are going to be late to work and how very full I was so I could not finish my roll. I was willing to leave and figure it was just my roll that was an issue. If that was only the case I wouldn’t be writing this. As we embarked on our 2 block commute back to work I noticed something was wrong and quickly through open my Audi’s door to vommit. We hadn’t even got 20ft out our parking spot. I quickly return to work and continue having horrible food poisoning exiting my body from both ends. That started about 1pm and has continued to the time I started writing this review(7:38pm). Now if it were just myself I wouldn’t have been judgmental as I have stomach issues from time to time. Unfortunately my coworker was able to join me in the same experiences and he chose completely different rolls. The restaurant looks a bit cheesy, the service was decent, the owner’s are very entertaining, the rolls were very sloppy a bit ugly(I roll them better) but the food poisoning for 2 was completely epic! Good luck Mr. Tandy in you future endeavors I’m hoping all you can eat sushi is not part of those!

I was really pulling for this place as this is the closest Sushi house to my house. I came here on pure faith and hope, but was very mixed on my experience. I was hoping for a true diamond in the rough dining experience as Sushi Tandy is located on a sketchy section of Fairfield with my car well supervised by the local homeless and tweakers. The interior looked to have a certain charm by some standards as it was filled with pictures of faithful patrons, a nearly empty fish tank, and an empty overflow room that stores someone’s bike. I was curious about the Chinese menu next to the many arrays of sushi. I was wondering if I they have a sweet and sour pork roll. Anyway, this mom and pop operation had very good service as the lady of the house was very attentive to me and my family. Our water glasses were never empty and was great with the kids. The California roll that my wife ordered was extremely generous as it came out on a party tray and was good. Unfortunately, my wife’s salmon teriyaki came out overcooked and dry. The shrimp tempura tasted a little funny, and the teriyaki sauce that started with a good taste with my beef and chicken started to taste too sweet toward the end and I lost the flavoring of my food with the sauce being way too sweet. No wonder the Saturday night crowd was extremely light. My wife was wondering how this place is in business, and I told her they are probably hopping on lunch time crowds. There will be some family debating to decide if we will return. sadly.

HAIRSINFOOD!!! I came in with a party of 6 and we were so excited to have their AYCE sushi. We ordered and good thing we weren’t starving that we didn’t take A look at our food. First we found a hair in the miso soup. Pretty disgusted but tried to move on with our meals. Then we found a longer hair in the chow mein. Gross. So at this point, we were pretty done with this place and their lack of hygiene and proper use of hair nets. THEYDIDNTHAVEANY. They were lucky we paid for the hairy meal full price with NODISCOUNTS. We even left a tip. But I will leave this tip to future customers. TELLTHEMTOHOLDTHEHAIR!!! And beware of the hair and look through your food before you get a surprise hair donation you did not order. WHOORDEREDTHEHAIR??? Gross. Never coming back. I give one star for the sake, beers, and tempura ice cream.

I feel sorry for this place it has so many bad reviews. Maybe if they do something different with there ingredients maybe? The quality doesn’t seem very good. I ordered for delivery on and wanted Chinese food and took me to sushi tandy. It was the only place that had Chinese food delivery in town so what the heck I’ll try it out even though it’s a sushi restaurant but has side line Chinese food LOL. I ordered sea food fried noodle, beef broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, and combo fried rice. The sea food fried noodle was good but the fish in it didn’t taste that good so I separated it aside. Sweet and sour chicken was the worst ever. Quality was so bad I didn’t finish it. The chicken tasted so bland and small pieces with very little sauce. Like a boot leg Panda Express smh. Beef broccoli was worst than any fast food Chinese joint I’ve ever been to, and the combo fried rice was bland. Only had few shrimp and beef in it. I really believe this place needs to either step up with their ingredients and get better quality food or maybe the chef needs to go back to culinary school and learn some updates. It’s a shame Panda Express does taste better.

**DONOTEATHERE** these 1 stars are 100% ACCURATE!!! I love food, all kinds of food, specially sushi. My husband and I eat sushi 1 or 2 times a month. We always go to Tokyo Sushi on Travis, it’s fresh and delicious, the owner is extremely kind, makes his rolls himself and serves you. Cuts up a pine Apple in this beautiful swan décor and brings it to your table. They offer all you can eat, and the rolls are super filling and did I mention fresh? This is an amazing sushi place. THISPLACESUSHITANDIISNOTTHAT!!! First thing, we walk in and no one greets us, so we choose to sit ourselves. This little lady comes up and throws a menu at us, and walks away. Ok? Comes back and says what we want to drink. We order water with lemon, brings back water, no lemon. So we ask again, for the lemon and she rolls her eyes at my husband turns around and yells something to the sushi chef, walks away and comes back and slams this plate of lemon, and ginger on the table«U ready to order» at this point I’m ready to walk out, but I’m starving. We proceed to order 5 different rolls, and a bento box. Sushi arrives, slammed on the table again, we ask for spicy ponzu sauce, rolls eyes AGAIN and Gos and talks to the other table, and then brings me back a bottle of watered down ciracha. Ok? The sushi is flat out gross. The rice is over cooked, and the«real crab» is gritty and just falls apart, one of the rolls we could t even eat excuse it just crumbled apart, we ate some Of the tempora roll and a couple of the other one, couldn’t do it. So we tried my sister in laws Chicken catsu, well that was decent, except the sauce was bbq sauce, not catsu sauce. We had 4 full rolls left and didn’t bother taking them with us, or sending them back because I knew it was a waste of time. When we left, did we get a thank you? NOPE! We leave and go shopping and my head starts feeling super dizzy and my stomach starts to turn, yup I tossed all the little bit of sushi I had, and my husband had number 2 pretty bad. This place is so not up to code with fresh fish, or quality. Seriously, go to another sushi place, this place is so gross!!! Horrible customer service and food! Stay away folks!

Good serving sizes. Sushi is so-so. Presentation is nice and clean. Not the freshest but still good. Don’t order the crab puffs, as one can find better quality at a buffet. I’d come back. PS. Free deep fried green tea ice cream ftw!

Prior to going to Sushi Tandy, I was going to another local Sushi restaurant for a about two years. Being that my work schedule varies, I frequently go there for dinner. One evening, as usual, I stopped by the restaurant for dinner. Due to heavy traffic, I arrived to the restaurant 5 min before closing time, which is 9 pm. As I walked in, I was told that the restaurant was closed already. I told the waitress that I come here often and besides the open sign was still up. She then told me that she was sorry but they are closed. Disappointed, I then got into my car and decided to drive around the area. It was then that I found Sushi Tandy! I parked my car and hurried in. Tandy told me no rush! He will stay open until i was done eating. That was a couple of years ago! I am now one of his regular very satisfied customer and good friend. As a matter of fact, I come here every Saturday night with my 5 year old grand daughter! And sometimes during the week! :) Sushi Tandy is a family owned restaurant with excellent service, great price and fresh sushi!!! I highly recommend it and when you go tell them I sent you! :)

This place was recommended to me because I work in the area, but I have to find out who because it was terrible! All three of us ordered from the all you can eat menu. Bad idea. The rolls seemed to be all california rolls with different fish/unagi on the top. The rice was old, very old and not very edible, the crab wasn’t real and very bland and we had to order lots of wasabi as it didn’t have much of a punch. I left full and bloated and had to drink water the rest of the day because of the high salt content of the food. Service was very good, but that’s the only nice comment I have. The bill came to $ 17/person — way too much for what we got. I’m NEVER going back there.

I agree, there is sure a lot of rice on the regular rolls, and would really like to taste more of the other ingredients and less of the rice. Sorry, Sushi Tandy! Of course the Hand Rolls are another story. They are invariably large and full of flavors, not skimpy or ricey. The special on the door for students-only, well I wish you had a special for others as well.

food was schizophrenic(Vietnamese pretending to be Japanese) the sashimi was not fresh and was served On a bed of cucumber??? We drowned the yellowtail n hamachi sashimi in kikkoman and wasabi and it still tasted fishy(lots of cucumber garnish on our bento box too… beef and chicken teriyaki was uhm… Lost for words… I can’t describe, we took a couple bites then decided to throw in the towel and go the Phở place next door,(which btw, was our original plan but thought we’d be spontaneous and live a little today…) word to the wise, stick to what’s tried and tested…

NOTGREAT! I hate it when sushi spots are stingy with the ingredients IN the roll and put TONS of rice on the outside. There were many things wrong with this place. I don’t know what the other reviews ate but it obviously was not the rolls! 1. Do not promote all you can eat sushi and all you give is RICE with a little bit of everything else. 2. Do not have your wife walking around to watch people as they eat and then tell them that they CANNOT take the extra rice off the rolls or they will be charged extra. If I wanted rice balled up with seaweed in the middle that’s what I would’ve ordered. 3. The«crab salad»? YUCK! I’ve never had rolls that taste this… gross. 4. Don’t include your tip on my bill! I don’t even wanna pay for the crappy ass sushi you served me! I will never come here OR refer anyone here. They should stop making rolls all together. Please be truthful in your reviews. People depend on them!

By far the worst sushi I have ever eaten in my life. I recently moved to the area from SoCal to live with my fiancé who grew up in Fairfield. Sushi is one of our favorite foods and I have yet to find decent sushi in Solano County. This place was awful. The rolls are all rice, the Philly roll has maybe 1⁄8 teaspoon of cream cheese(that’s a generous calculation)…when we asked if we could get another Philly roll with a little more cream cheese, they put it on the side of the plate… not in the roll? The eel sauce is also watered down and when I asked for a side of eel sauce, they gave me less than a tablespoon. The wasabi is watery… seriously? Even the rice consistency of the sushi is off… almost mushy. I am not one for fried things when I go out for sushi, but figured, anything fried can’t be that gross tasting? Wrong. Tried the crab wontons… with cheddar cheese? I have never had cheddar cheese, only cream cheese in crab wontons(even fast food chains like Panda Express get that right) The edamame was so dry and the beans were all wrinkled. And the service? Horrible. We had to ask the waitress to fill our water glasses several times… and we were the only two people in the restaurant for lunch. But thankfully they automatically add the tip for a party of two for lunch. Ridiculous! I would love to know where to find fresh sushi(not all rice or full of fake crabmeat) in Solano County… sushi Tandy is the worst ever and Hisui in Vacaville is a close second to worst.

If I could rate negative stars, I would. We were greeted and waited by a child. Literally, like an 8 year old child. Labor laws much? I had green, I don’t know what in my water. The prices online are different than at the actual place. Not to mention the look of it is awful, and looks like it was designed by that child. Seriously, the menu holder, was colored by a kid. The rolls were about 90% rice. Flys all over the place. The gratuity is added on to the all you can eat price automatically. The quality of the food, was absolutely terrible. Along with the service. No AC. And it’s 103 today. That was awesome. Lets keep it going guys! The wasabi wasn’t even the correct consistency. Tried to offer us fried ice cream«on the house» because I think they heard us say their sushi sucked. And the building overall was just dirty. I think it’s safe to say, don’t ever come here, and I will be letting you all know, if I do actually get sick, like most of the other reviews have claimed. Have a wonderful day guys. Stick to sushi in Davis.

Me and my then girlfriend came here because we needed a break from the norm and she never had sushi. Lets just say that things weren’t… all that pleasant afterwards. It was in the middle of the day and we were the only people there(which is always a bad sign) and we were seated by a pleasant lady. She was nice which was the only good thing about the experience. I ordered my usual Bento Box which was sub-par. My partner ordered sashimi which was a HUGE mistake. It looked like it had been sitting behind the glass on display for a while. She ate it begrudgingly while I mowed through the Box of Bento. Later we came home and she started having problems with her stomach. She was sick for the next three days and we could only point it to here. There are only a few reasons why I would give a place one star. and making me or my party sick is one reason. Won’t be going back there again.
