I just recently moved to the area and have tried a few different places for subs but DiBella’s is top notch a must try!

I remember going here over a year ago and I thought it was really good! It was back when we still ate meat, and my hubby and I were both really into the Godfather Sub with loads of spicy seasoned Italian animal flesh. But I just had my second experience there and it wasn’t so hot. Hubby and I each had a tuna sub on multigrain bread(we are still eating the occasional fish). The tuna was pretty bland; we salt & peppered it which helped some. And the bread was super hard and not flavorful. :( So averaging the first awesome experience with the recent not-so-awesome experience brings them to a 3 star average. We will still go back but probably add a bunch more veggies and try another bread.

The idea of an «old fashioned» sub sounds a bit wonky to me. I mean, doesn’t that just mean that you can make it at home? Bread, deli meat, cheese, some veggies, mayonnaise, and dressing — how hard is that? To be honest, i can’t figure out the allure of this place, but their subs are damn good. I got the Godfather grilled, which includes multigrain bread, salami, spicy ham, and capicola, with mayonnaise, dressing, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions, and pickles. ITWASSOGOOD. Maybe they put something in the mayonnaise or the dressing, but it made me come back and eat the same thing again. I heard the place used to be inside wegman’s and then it became its own identity, and now it’s splattered across rochester area. GOOD, because their subs are delicious.

Now that I’ve relocated to California, DiBella’s remains one of those«things I miss about Rochester». Hot subs, cold subs, big subs, small subs… all available in a variety of generous sizes AND on some damn good fresh rolls. I’m partial to the Dagwood. Fresh turkey, ham and corned beef combined for what I like to refer to as «an amalgamation of delicious land animals». To be serious, the ingredients are all top notch here. Lots of fresh veggies, sauces and toppings are at your disposal and the prices are obscenely cheap. I pretty much always go for the $ 2 combo deal along with my sub. You can score a fountain drink along with a stupid delicious fresh baked cookie(choc chip w/or w/o walnuts), or a side mac/potatoe salad. As for service, they always seem well staffed with friendly accommodating sandwich makers, and the restaurant itself is very clean. I don’t get back to Rochester as much as I would like, but when I do… DiBella’s is my sandwich hook up!
