There is a star because you need to put something there to get to the writing of the review. We were supposed to go there and meet a group. We just couldnt bring ourselves to go. Thought I’d get on Unilocal to read some reviews, turns out I’m glad we didn’t go. Bad reviews speak louder then good ones.

I had not been here since the late ‘50s and almost decided to pass after reading reviews, but was very pleasantly surprised and happy with the experience. I have always had a fondness for diners going back to my youth and the Poodle Dog has kept a certain nostalgia while updating its look and quality. Make no mistake this is not fine dining, but the portions are more than adequate and the service was prompt and pleasant. I had a stack of buttermilk pancakes that were very fluffy and hot, almost too fluffy in that they absorbed the syrup like a sponge. The waitress appeared to know this as she offered me more(warm) syrup. My wife had a vegetarian fry that she really liked and my chicken fried steak was crisp and very tasty. Coffee was hot unlike another reviewers. Maybe there is an issue in consistency but our experience was quite good.

This place is moderately priced, generally pleasant service and decent food. Lunches have been prompt, delicious soups, diner atmosphere. Been here several times over the years, today was the first time I ever received a bill before my lunch was served at this place second time in my life. Maybe near shift change? Overall it’s satisfactory.

This place was actually really surprising when we walked inside. I think they did a recent remodel within the last year or so, because the inside definitely doesn’t match the exterior building. The food is what you would see at a typical diner, I wouldnt expect super high quality but the two times Ive went here I was satisfied with what I got. AND they have ALLDAYBREAKFAST! If you want alcohol I think you have to go to the pup room. There is a lot of space to the poodle dog. I also think that the service is insanely good, way way better than I would have imagined. I would suggest coming here for diner food, cute atmosphere, and good service.

Service was poor as well as the food.

The food was pretty decent. I was surprised as a vegan to find food that wasn’t a green salad, and that was honestly a huge plus. I ordered a skillet with hash browns and veggies with melon on the side. It was a bit bland and oil-heavy but I was still pretty satisfied. Most likely won’t be coming back though.

A good solid 4 stars. The seating was quick and the server was very friendly. I ordered the hot roast beef and gravy open faced dinner and it was very good. There was plenty of gravy on generous cuts of roast beef and real potatoes. It came with a choice of soup or house salad. I chose the house salad, a small bowl, yet completely filled with a fair sized salad and a large enough pot of dressing. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is that the server did not follow up and check on our drink refills; until she brought the final check. Refills are nice to have during the dinner, not as you are leaving.

It’s off the freeway, easy enough to get to. Food, I have had better, don’t expect a big menu. It’s old diner style, which is fine but I have had much better. I ordered a drink, simple basic margarita — I returned it, with the gnats it came with. Makes me think that they have an insect problem in the bar. I just drank water. I didn’t pick the location, and wouldn’t have, but it was off the freeway good for a meeting spot. I have had to meet there twice, the first time I had the worst coffee of my life there. I asked if it were old, as if had been burning for hours? Nope just the worst coffee I have ever had. I looked out and saw others drinking it, I felt bad for them. Don’t anticipate fast service, it’s not fast, the people seem friendly enough.

Not firearm friendly. I was harassed by the manager for just sitting down to eat. She was loud and causing a scene making everyone uncomfortable. A real class act. It was hard to enjoy me food with her around, not to mention it was Luke warm. They didn’t want our business. We will oblige them and not give it.

Have eaten here a few times and is good solid food. Nothing earth shattering but it’s reliable. Enjoy their shakes and think had a desert once some time ago when lived in this area. Most recent meal was a breakfast omelette for dinner, ham and cheese. Considering amount of food thought was a decent price. Was impressed.

A fine place for a friendly and efficient breakfast. We met our kids at the half way point(Fife) for a Sunday breakfast. I had the California eggs Benedict. I was quite happy with them, even though the sauce was a mix. The avocado and tomato were fresh and lovely, eggs cooked perfectly. Chicken fried steak for the guys, one as a breakfast combo and one as as dinner combo. I have to say those were some of the FINEST mashed potatoes that I have had in a long time! The servings are big, and there is nothing on the menu over $ 13.99. We will meet up there again. The service was very professional, friendly and non-rushing. Everything I like in a server.

I love this place, it’s near my work so I’m a frequent guest. The restaurant has been around since the 30’s and it for some years it had a pretty rough go of it because of the competition across the street from Mitzels. Mitzels closed and the Puyallup tribe decided to put a cigar place there instead. The management moved to Poodle Dog and put life back into the diner. They recently remodeled and it’s quite nice. I eat primarily breakfast and all the servers there are experienced and very nice. The food is reasonably priced and tasty and most important very consistent.

From the same group that runs Harvester in Stadium, Knapps in Proctor, Hob Nob in Wright park. Same basic grease spoon but delicious and filling all american meals. Luke warm coffee was a bummer however

I have lived in the area for years, but never took the time to try this place out. I am SO glad my husband recommended we try it out. The breakfast here is nothing short of amazing. The biscuits and gravy were the best I have had in a LONG time! The food is fresh and full of flavor. The chefs definitely know what they’re doing and take pride in their work! The staff were all friendly and attentive. The Poodle Dog is located right off I-5 and very easy to access. I’m confident in saying this is our new breakfast spot!

Pretty decent place. The people are nice; the service is great. The food… I would give them a A– Don’t get that confused with bad, because it’s not. I do think they can do better. Overall, it got me full and was yummy!

Ok, it’s not wonderful, it’s not healthy in any way shape or form but it’s fun. Reminds you of 50s diners with a little upgrade. I haven’t been there in quite some time and since then they’ve revamped the menu. Some of the old stuff is gone and they have made the portions smaller, which is just fine since they are still huge. I had a veggie skillet which was scrambled eggs with veggies on top of hash browns and came with a biscuit on the side. Really nice biscuit, just ok hash browns and ok eggs. Hubby had an omelet with lots of meat, hash browns and toast. He said it was yummy but then he likes anything that comes in huge portions. Next time I’ll go back to my regular breakfast standby, wrecked eggs.

I’ve been here for mostly breakfast, and have been to the bar that is attached here– this place needs a complete remodel. It looks like they haven’t done anything to it for 50 years and looks old and tired lol. The waitress’s are all older ladies and do provide good service for the most part. The location is pretty good, and good size parking lot which is easy to get in and out of. Just be careful though– Fife loves their revues and the corner this restaurant is at is a red light camera intersection.
