Great Location near the ferry, However I have a mold allergy!!! As soon as i sat on the futon in the living area, my eye got very itchy. Luckily i left and was outside most of the night, but it was already too late cause my eye was irritated. When i woke up in the morning, i rubbed my eye, once and then before you know it i scratched my cornea. My eye was tearing uncontrollably and basically had to leave on the first ferry out. The apartment was obviously flooded by Sandy, When I opened the closet door in the bathroom where the towels are stored I noticed it had a lot of mold growing. all along the base boards. I didn’t even want to take a shower there, bc I didn’t want to wrap my body in mold infested towels. If someone is charging that much to stay on fire island. They could at least use that money to get new furniture, floors etc. The floors were pretty gross and grimy probably not replaced either after the floods. I understand it costs a lot of money to replace things after the storm, but to charge that amount of money and not do any kind of replacement of the affected areas is really disgusting. I am not a picky person, have stayed all over the world in different types of establishments and I have to say this was one of the dirties places I’ve stayed in a long time. Beware if you have allergies

Stay away. We arranged by telephone and internet with Greg Pecoraro, who purports on the web site to be the owner, to spend 2 nights. He wanted $ 490 by check– he doesn’t take credit cards. We sent a check, which he cashed immediately. We never spent the night, having been dissatisfied with the room upon inspection, and he refused to refund out money because«he didn’t feel like it». We specified that the room have wifi as we needed it for work; Greg assured us that the room was connected. We were also told all the rooms were non-smoking. We arrived at 11:30am, and Greg tells us we can’t get into out room until 7pm! We protested, and he agreed to try to have the room ready by 5, as our contract stated. When we got back at 5, and Greg told us that there is no wifi, and that there hasn’t been for days. Further, the tiny room is really a shed with a bathroom and a futon bunk bed crammed into it. The room reeked of cigarette smoke. Not wanting to risk not being able to get off the island if the next room that Greg promised proved to be another disappointment, we asked for our money back. We offered to just let him have the $ 60 cash we had paid for our 2-days bike rental. Greg swings into verbally abusive action upon hearing this request, foully cursing us both. We left and called 911, and filed a civil complaint, and will have to go to Islip, NY to sue him if he does not send a check. The blinds covering the sliding door fell on our heads as we left. It must be mentioned that the two underage young people he had working there were extremely nice, helpful and sympathetic, really lovely; as were the police officers and the staff at the Kismet Inn, where we waited for the next ferry. This business has no street address, and no one in the Kismet Inn had ever heard of Margarita Villas.
