An awesome place with a beautiful view, food is amazing, service is good. Love the mahi mahi sandwich so much flavor. The drinks are great too. Love the ambiance. Highly recommended place.

My friends and I came here after we landed at Kismet. We were all starving and wanted food ASAP. This was right near the dock, so we decided to hit it up. I was a bit skeptical at first. I saw the Unilocal reviews and I didn’t have much confidence. I saw the menu and had even less confidence because it didn’t seem to make sense. It was a mix of Sushi, Italian, American and Seafood. It felt more like a diner menu because of the varied selection. There wasn’t much cohesion in the menu. Our hunger got the best of us, so we stayed and ordered. I got the BBQ Salmon burger and my boyfriend ordered the fish tacos. The salmon burger was surprisingly delicious. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was just right. I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend loved his fish tacos as well. It took a while for the food to come and our waiter was virtually nonexistent, which is why I dinged a star. This would’ve easily been a 4 star experience, had the service been better. Overall, it was a very nice experience. Food was great and if service was better, this would be a great spot to hit.

Went for«taco Tuesday» $ 25 all u can eat taco Buffet and all you can drink margaritas… awful the taco beef was so bland it didn’t even taste like hamburger meat no taco seasoning at all! The setup was awful from right to left went Taco toppings Taco shells Meat… Why would u have it in that order?! Bartenders were slow and margaritas were awful! So sour worst than sour patch kids just terrible Feel bad writing bad reviews but based on tonight I would never come back here just so bad! Taste of margarita wouldn’t leave my mouth even after eating the terrible pizza from across the street! Sorry I’m not sorry but seriously just bad

I have been going here since it was just The Out. Back then it was more bar and club and less of a restaurant. The new owners have done a great job updating the space and improving the menu. I dine here with my family at least once a week when we are out during the summer months and I have always found the service to be great. Waiters are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is perfect on the deck, especially as the sun sets, but it is even nice and airy inside(with ac). As for the food, keep your expectations at sea level and you will never be disappointed.

Now the server George is sending me numerous inappropriate messages because he is upset that I posted a negative review based on my experience. Very immature ! Management should have better standards for who they hire for this establishment. A pure joke!

I have mixed feelings about this place. It was nice to sit watching the summer sunset over the water, the food tasted good and our waiter was nice and attentive but the place is EXPENSIVE. To be fair, this is my first time visiting any community on Fire Island, so this might be normal for restaurants there but I was shocked when the bill for 3 adults and 1 child came to $ 110(for basic burgers and fries). The Penne pasta from the children’s menu had about 7 pieces of pasta and it cost $ 15.

HORRIBLEMANAGEMENT HORRIBLESERVICE MEDIOCREFOOD It seems like«someone» deleted my last review, I didn’t know Unilocal allowed owners to manage their reviews, this has me worried, but to sum up my last review again — The General Management is a 21 year old girl, she was not properly trained in her position and is no where near ready to be a leader yet alone run a restaurant. I know so because I worked with her. TOTHEPOSSIBLECUSTOMER, FROMANINSIDER: 1. The food is HORRIBLE and poorly made. DONT get anything with their pasta sauce, it legit tastes like jarred sauce. 2. they have a big roast every year DONOTWASTEYOURMONEY — The pork is so dry !! And the food is «bottom shelf» cheap foods yet the make you pay an arm and a leg to attend the event — just don’t go! 3, The service is HORRIBLE, poorly trained and not attitioniative. This alone kills the whole experence. The servers literally just DONTCARE and they don’t have to because their mangers Brianna and Margot DONTCARE. 4. The drinks are OK, if you feel like spending a fortune and getting a shitty attitude from one of the older lady bar tenders. Overall Fire Island is a beautiful beautiful little island, why waste your time at a crappy restaurant when you can go out and enjoy yourself. Please if you take the ferry from the main land to Kismet WALKRIGHTPASTTHISPLACEANDGOSOMEWHERENICE! My family has seasonal’s in the area and even they stopped going to Surfs Out — must be the management!

Unlike other reviewers I did not find the service to be lacking in any way. The food is very pricey but hey it’s Fire Island. The quality of the food was just mediocre. Nothing to write home about.

I’ve eaten here many times. I like it. I find the hostess friendly and eager to please as as far as seating preference. The service is good, no complaints. Had the sushi(fire island roll) last time and it was great. The hot lobster roll is good. The appetizers are large and good for sharing, the lobster mac and cheese app was enough for an entrée. I can’t recall a meal I didn’t like. There is music/entertainment on weekends and food specials during the week. Could live without meatloaf Monday. The calendar is on their website. The two dollar charge for sweet potato fries is bit much. Overall good and consistent.

After a leisure beach walk from Robert Moses Field 5 to Kismet was looking forward to having a delicious hot lobster roll. Well, while the lobster itself was good, the hard french baguette style bread it came on was not and it was drenched it way too much butter. Still don’t get why they would use that type of bread? You get fries or a salad with the lobster roll, but be advised they do charge you extra for the sweet potato fries. All in all it was just ok, i’ve had much better hot lobster rolls out in Montauk and in the city. It is a cute place, nice to sit outside and enjoy the view and our server was very nice and attentive. Would go back but def order something else.

The best hot lobster roll on Long Island! The service is ok– lack of napkins, drinks needed and etc.

My wife and I went there last night and we were extremely disappointed. It was not our first time, but our first time having such a bad experience. First of all the waiter George was more interested chasing around the young women who worked their then paying any attention to his tables. We would have literally had two or three more drinks, a full meal and a dessert if we were given the opportunity but George was never around to help us out. My wife and I have over 15 years combined work experience in the bar and restaurant business and at first I thought the place was under staffed, but it quickly become obvious it is just being poorly managed. The food was ok, just stay away from the guacamole! Again in the past we had really enjoyed the place but after last night I would have a hard time recommending to anyone for anything other than a drink at the bar!!!

Nice to come here before it gets crazy. Had a nice server by the name of Margo. Food was really tasty. Had the Asian calamria and my hubby had a bacon burger both were fantastic. Large portions for sure. Get here early and before the crunch of beach goers. Nice to sit in the sun and have good food.

Not sure if they were just having an off day the day we were there or what, but I had heard good stuff about this place and our experience really wasn’t that great. We went in here with a positive outlook on this place. Ordered our drinks, and ordered our food. The service was very bad to us. Our waiter brought out an appetizer before we had even gotten our drinks. It took forever to get our drinks, but they were good when we got them. Everything was just really slow and our waiter was not good at all. Definitely get the sushi if you go here, that was good, and some rocket fuels and mud slides. But this day we came they just couldn’t seem to put things together.

Been coming to Kismet since I was 8 years old and this place has defiantly changed for the good! Always great service and friendly staff. I’ve never eaten here but I hear it’s the best sushi on the island. Everyone needs to try a rocket fuel!

LOVE this place! It was nice after a while of biking to sit down and eat GOOD food! Their fish is incredible quality, and sushi is above my expectations for sure! The calamari served«out» style was crazy good too. Also, shout out to the waiter page for being cool.

As a four-year summer-long sharehouse veteran in Kismet, I am well acquainted with Surf’s Out. Past summers had dj’s inside the dining room, spinning dance tunes well into the night after the last dinner patrons left, but I’m under the impression that since they bring outdoor music into the courtyard area, the djs are a thing of the past. Usually staying Sunday night and eating at Surf’s Out, my friends and I order some Rocket Fuels for happy hour and sushi for dinner. Yesterday, upon arrival at 6pm to catch a 6:55 ferry out, we requested a table for four outside and were told there were none available, although many tables were empty on the porch. Thinking they were for reservations, we sat inside. Many of the tables remained open and I even witnessed an older gentleman ask to sit outside(group of 4) when they were originally seated inside– shocker, they got a table on the porch. Everyone that works here from the bartenders, who I’ve made friends with in the past, to the bussers to the waitresses are personable and lovely, especially Donna(manager?), who was exceptionally lovely following a dinner service back pre-season in May. The hostess on Sunday evening was unnecessarily curt to my group upon arrival, which made us start off our meal on a bad note. When it comes to the food, I’m a Sunday Funday Rocket Fuel devotee, which have been incredibly spotty this season. I’m coming to the conclusion that it depends on the bartender you get, but most recently they have been watery, not crushed and smooth and hard to drink. The sushi is always a delight, but I found that on Sunday that the quality and size of the sushi rolls have decreased dramatically. The sizes of the rolls used to be quite large, where you’d get to the last piece and you’d wonder if you could even eat it. Over the past month I’ve been ordering additional rolls or pieces to share with my friends as the Clock Out roll has decreased in size. I do really enjoy going to Surf’s Out and will continue to do so, but I’d just like the restaurant to know that keeping your summer-long Kismet residents happy is as important, if not more than the Long Islanders that come over to binge drink in the courtyard during event days.

There aren’t that many dining options on Kismet, there are only 2 restaurants and this one looked cleaner. Also I had to go to the toilet badly and I couldn’t find any public toilets so I had to dine here to use the toilet.(Where do beach goers go when they need to use the toilet? Do they just pee in the sea?) We decided to sit outdoors to get some sun. Our waitress was great, she would check in every now and then(would be better if she came by a little more often) but I was pretty happy with the service. One fly decided to fly into my water and died there, so I had to ask for a new cup. Gross. For appetizers, we had some a seafood platter(squid, scallops, shrimp) on top of a bed of vegetables with light dressing. It was delicious and filling. For my main course, I had the tuna burger(half cooked tuna of course), with a side salad. It was excellent. I requested to have the wasabi mayo on the side because I don’t like spicy foods. I ended up pouring ketchup on my burger instead. and there was no more ketchup by the time we left haha.(I also used ketchup for the appetizers, which is why there was no more ketchup left). My friend had the lobster roll, with a side of sweet potato fries. The only not so good thing is that its quite pricey. Also, the toilet ran out of toilet paper — they should check the toilet more often.
