Delicious Truffle Mac and Cheese! Scallops were awesome too! Even for the end of season!

My wife and I went to this restaurant earlier in today for some lunch and the reason I am writing this review as soon as I can is because this place is horrendous. Food was bad, they had barely anything left to serve their guests, and the service was atrocious. I mean the service was just incredibly bad I do not even have anymore words for it. We got greeted by a greeter at the front of the restaurant by the patio area. We asked her for a menu and she goes on to tell us that they have no more bagels, no pancakes, no white bread, and no eggs benedict. I understand she was just trying to inform us before we sat down but I should have realized right then that this is not the place for us. Well we sat down and the restaurant was really not that busy. It was us and maybe 3 other customers. The Angus Burger I ordered did not have any onions on it when it clearly states that it comes with onions and the bread at the bottom of the burger was so soggy and this was probably because it was sitting in the back for so long waiting for it to be served to us. The food was cold and not tasty at all. My wife ordered some Shrimp sandwich and it was not good either. The worse part was the service, where the burger and the sandwich took forever to come out and was brought to us without ketchup. So I had to get up and go to the front hostess to grab ketchup from her. We had a whole nice day planned at Fire Island and the horrible service at this place totally ruined the beginning of our day as well as delayed our other plans. Never ever going back to this place and will never recommend to anyone.

After spending the past week in Ocean Beach, I’ve had some time to reacquaint myself with the restaurant scene here. After some of these nasty reviews, I was a little scared to try the landing, but their patio is really nice and inviting and way less crowded than the Mermaid(across the street). I first stopped in one morning and decided to check out their brunch menu, and since I am very particular about my breakfast joints. I was determined to hold them to the highest standard. I was delightfully surprised with my selection! I am a pretty healthy eater, so I only ordered my eggs with spinach, but I splurged on the breakfast potatoes too, which were awesome! I asked for extra spinach, and I hate being annoying, but I really wanted it! My server, Jacklyn, was super nice and friendly and assured me it wouldn’t be a big deal. Sure enough, my food came out exactly as promised. My friend got the red velvet pancakes, and I HAD to try them,. they looked so delicious! I have never even heard of them before, but oh my god, they are good. Really generous portion sizes here, and good coffee with refills. We sat on the patio and watched all the ferries come and go. Be sure to try a Mimosa, while you wait. A group of us went back another night after wandering around town, confused as to where to go. I like this place bc it feels smaller and more intimate than some of the larger spots in town that are filled with too many people for my liking. I also wanted to check out their drink menu, and I heard they have the best sushi on Fire Island. Long story short, I ordered the Chicken Milanese, which was cooked perfectly, with a very good glaze on it. ANd all our appetizers were really good– try the calamari(sauce!!), mussels, duck tacos, and some sushi rolls! Skirt steak also a big hit with our group, and pass the bread, because I want every drop of this white wine garlic sauce from the mussels! As for price, it’s Ocean Beach, what do you expect? The Landing is no more expensive than anyplace else, and I found the whole staff, even the hostess to be extremely accommodating and made us feel like we were locals. Bottom line, if $ 30 bux is too spend for you for a good dinner, stay on the mainland and don’t crowd up the ferry line.

Visit Date: August 9, 2015 Came here with my mother in law on my first ever visit to fire island. Luckily we got a table because there were a few available. The service was a little slower than what I’m used to. The food was decent. My mother in law’s salad was pretty huge. My truffle mac was on the small side but it was an appetizer so it was okay. I found the food to be slightly pricey, I am not sure about other parts of fire island but ocean beach is very expensive. They also didn’t have decaf coffee so I drank regular. I think it would be nice if they served decaf as an option too.

I’m giving this one star for location and that’s it. I came for brunch on a Sunday and ordered a $ 16.50 Cobb salad. It arrived without avocado. Waiter then says«oh, we’re out of avocado» when I point it out. I sent it back. He never again asked me if I wanted to order something else. I recognize they may have been understaffed at the time but it’s just terrible service. My companions thought their food was fine, but really, for better food both in quality and price, just head to Rachel’s.

Food was very good. Had a small issue but they handled it like professionals. Blue cheese and apple salad was very tasty. Servers were prompt and courteous. Would definitely recommend it.

So disappointed. :(the scallops risotto was ok, very sweet nothing to write home about. The mussels were good but again needed something. We didn’t get bread at our table but everyone else did. My husband order sushi but never got soy sauce or chopsticks until we hunted down one of the bussers. And the truffle Mac N Cheese which we were so excited to try had no flavor, definitely no truffle but the cheese wasn’t even good. My husband described it as a very bland béchamel. Service was not impressive. The only thing I can say is my drink was great and the waterside view was amazing!

Attended bat mitzvah there. Was ok and well staffed. Food was decent but ordinary. Bar ran out of olives. I guess for Fire Island it wasn’t bad.

The food here was AMAZING! I had the steak and my date had the scallops. Loved both of them. The waitress was awesome and we shared a good ‘bucket drink’. Try this place!

Nice OCEAN Beach Resteraunt. At first glance appears to be a cut above the competition. However, had an early lunch there Sunday and the lined up at the bar were 10 Drunk, «F@*$» yelling people continuing to be served alcohol at 12. If your gonna cater to families and people looking to have a nice lunch or dinner the riff raff should be controlled. Food was good for Fire Island.

Had lunch here on my visit to Fire Island for Labor Day and really enjoyed it. The service was great and the food was even better. I ordered the california chicken club and it was divine — came with the perfect combination of toppings and the chicken was tender/well-cooked. They didn’t skimp on the serving which I always love. My boyfriend ordered the baja fish tacos and said they were fresh and delicious. My only suggestion to the restaurant is to pour a real glass of wine. I ordered a glass and it came less then half way full. Not into that. For the price you charge, a heavy hand is always appreciated.

I loved our lunch experience at The Landing… and though other Unilocal reviews mentioned slow service, we had no such issues. Our waiter was awesome and very helpful, even when we had a slight bill discrepancy. I loved the Burger with Waffle Fries(sooo good) and also tried the Truffle Mac & Cheese(creamy and cheesy and oh, so delicious)! The porch dining section was so lovely on a summer Saturday. And there was even some fun live music happening inside! I would love to try brunch next time. :)

Came here on a Sunday for brunch. Service was fast and courteous. Restaurant has bay views and a very nice outdoor dining deck. The food was meh. I had the eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce lacked flavor. My husband had the sunrise skillet, which consisted of potatoes, green peppers, sausage and on top 2 sunny side eggs. The dish lacked any flavor. Total disappointment.

Fast and attentive service. Excellent appetizers and entrees. The fried calamari, rib sliders, duck lettuce wraps, halibut and filet mignon were all superb. Best restaurant in Ocean Beach for sure.

If you could give half stars, this would be a 3.5. The service wasn’t anything phenomenal, and the atmosphere was average. Great view of the water, but not the best in ocean beach. Sushi was amazing but it’s only served Tuesday thru Sunday. The scallops were over done and the mussels were average. The chicken was great. Over all a good restaurant, but a tad pricy(as is everything here).

After being treated rudely at the island mermaid(which was empty btw), our party of 10 went here and had a very enjoyable lunch. Service and food were very good by resort town standards, reasonably priced and a nice atmosphere. Curry muscles were amazing!

Restaurant and bar across from the dock(ferries). Casual, cool type atmosphere. The frequent flyers to FI say that if you needto use the restroom come here!!! Lol Haven’t sampled the food but they make good drinks and shots(a bit pricey though)

Although the prices are about 25% steeper than they really should be, everything I’ve had at The Landing has been high quality. The bleu cheese and apple salad? Yeah, that’s good(although they could’ve gone a little lighter on the candy of the candied walnuts). The coconut shrimp po’boy with the roasted ginger mayo? Yeah, that’s good. And the accompanying waffle fries are ALWAYS fantastic. Seriously, if waffle fries are on a menu I’m getting them. The kids’ mac and cheese? Tastes like childhood. The service was also excellent; prompt, attentive but not annoyingly so, and I’ve heard that they’ll gladly deliver the girliest of shots to a friend at another table for you, along with a completely inappropriate and profane message if you so desire. In short, this is a place I’ll gladly kill my hangover every time I return to Ocean Beach.

Came here for breakfast last week. Grabbed an american cheese n bacon omelet for $ 13. Do I like paying $ 13 for an omelet? Nope. But considering it’s OB, where a normal BEC costs $ 7 – 9, it’s not the worst thing out there. Plus, they let me eat while barefoot which is fun. There was only one other table in there at the time(11am on a Friday) so I didn’t have any service issues. They even brought Sriracha to the table when I asked for some hot sauce(bonus point). The eggies themselves were good, and the potatoes were edible, but nothing great. Breakfast for two with iced tea and a coffee came out to $ 35(before tip). Bleh. Hungover? Come here. Not hungover? Get your lazy a$$ to the store and make breakfast for yourself and your house for $ 25.
