I didn’t expect much coming into this place. Of course, it is pricey like most places by any beach area. This is a typical American restaurant with burgers, seafood/lobster options, etc. I specifically had the Coney Island burger. It wasn’t too bad. The buns were like NYC pretzels from the stands except smaller. The burger had the meat and hot dog inside with nacho cheese. Overall, nice combo! It is served with fries. So as you can imagine, my friends and I were very full(some even bloated). I guess you get as full as you paid for… Decent place!

we originally walked past this place to go to the sandbar and celebrate my friend’s birthday. we left sandbar cause the girls complained that it «smelled bad» and came to this place instead, which didn’t seem so lit. but we had a great time with our bartender. we were defintly annoying and she handled it like a good sport. we drank more than we expected so we ordered a burger, some fries, the burger my friend said was really really good. but it was $ 16. this place’s rocket fuels cost just as much as the other bars in fire island. they were good too. we got to request what songs we wanted to hear, which we liked. this is definetly not the most busiest bar there is, but it is a cool spot to low-key chill. with a hot bartender & a really cool movie loop that plays on the tv screens. we spent too much money here lol almost missed the ferry

NO stars. Place is HORRIBLE!!! Service was beyond ridiculous and the waitress yells«FUUUUCK!» Across the restaurant while you wait for your lunch with your 9years old. Rather go to McDonalds.

I’m reposting this because apparently it was deleted. Here’s my original review: «The mozzarella sticks are $ 16. The cheap, mass produced, crappy beer offered are more than they are in Manhattan.» Allow me to elaborate so it apparently fits into Unilocal’s guidelines. — an order of mozzarella sticks cost $ 16 –budweisers, coronas etc are over $ 7 a bottle(if my memory serves me correctly). — asked about why the mozzarella sticks cost as much as 3 boxes in a typical grocery store and got an «That’s just what they cost…» from the bartender.

Pricey, like everything else on fire Island but, good service and food to pick at. I’m sure the reason why people don’t like it at C J’s is because of the price, or the fact that it’s not a club bar playing loud music, as half of the people over at fire Island think they’re at the Jersey shore.

30 thirsty reunion goers all sat down at once. The waiter was also the owner. I’m giving 5 stars. Honestly the food was prob 4 stars but the effort, degree of success, and Personality of the place… I was pleased. I had a really top notch lamb burger. Hot crispy fries. Ah crud. I’ll go 5. Good drinks. Fun joint.

I visited this restaurant this past Saturday w/friends.(There were about 11 of us). The ambiance is nice, the seating was chic. There is not enough space to maneuver from one side to the other of the bar unless no one is standing/sitting around the hump of the bar. It’s much easier to go around by leaving the venue and re-entering the other set of doors. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed and I heard no complaints. I got the fish and chips while others got the skirt steak or burger or a salad. I, personally, did not feel good after returning home. I got the chills and puked up dinner for a good 2 hours. The fish tasted fresh except for one small part was more fishy than the rest of it, but nothing was putrid. The rocket fuel was a hip drink. We asked what the happy hour /half off specials were on drinks. Our server said that it was everything on the triangular plastic thingy on the tables. We were led to believe that Rocket Fuel was included in the deal, but when we got the tab, it was fuller than full price! They charged us $ 14.00 when it was listed as $ 12.00 and we were under the impression that it was $ 6.00 per round. The manager came out and greeted us which was kind. He was very cheerful. Bathrooms were decent. They’re both unisex = faster people flow. They look small from where you’re waiting, but when you go in, they’re quite spacious. Music was the best. They had been playing a lot of 90’s music, which we all reminisced in. They had large screen TV’s around, and because of the horse races, they blasted the volume when it was peak in the race for the clientele who were interested in it. But they forgot to turn it down and we had to send someone to the bar to have it muted. We could barely speak over the sounds from the loud music and the TV. We had asked our waitress 3x but apparently she forgot 3x. —- Later on, in the evening around 10PMCJ’s transformed into a night club playing Latina music. It was hopping.

Came in here for happy hour as we were leaving the beach and ordered the lobster roll. I must say it was delicious, we even told the chef. They used really fresh lobster. The drink specials were great. Will go back.

This was probably our favorite bar out of the ones we frequented in the area. It’s a super small space(so don’t come here if you are looking to dance) but the bartenders were fun and the drinks are cheap but still good. Tried the Rocket Fuel and got to experience some of the happy hour deals(like $ 3 shots). Music is great and upbeat– so much so that you want to dance, but can’t causative of the limited space. Would say that this is one of the better bars at Fire Island– definitely add it to your list to check out.

We frequented CJs around three times while on a week long vacation in Ocean Beach. Each time the bartenders and servers were wonderful. There was a great band there late one night. And they have an amazing vegan burger that’s made in-house. It’s super hard to find vegetarian friendly food on the island. Thanks for a great week, CJs, we will be back!

Had some drinks for the Belmont Stakes on Saturday and it was a pretty good time. Service was attentive at the bar plus they did this fun horse pool, which I thought was interesting and different. It’s probably the cleanest bar I visited this weekend.

Was here over the winter and was served rancid chicken. A friend of mine also ordered the wings and taking one bite you could smell a fishy odor which was nauseating. We both vomited within 10 minutes of only taking one bite. After telling the bartender, she brought our food back and told us the chef had eaten if and said it was fine. On top of the terrible wings, the bartender seemed to have no idea what she was doing… She was unable to open a bottle of beer which we had to do ourselves. She also didn’t know much about any of the liquors. However, it was the middle of the winter and they were short staffed. Either way, the bad food is inexcusable. I hope this it was a one time thing. I am willing to try this place out again because it has a great atmosphere and although inexperienced a nice bartender.

After a terrible experience Memorial Day weekend Carly from the Palm Island hotel was kind enough to give me a $ 50 gift certificate so I would come back to C.J.‘s. I finally decided to come back to Fire Island for my birthday and August and the staff at C.J.‘s were attentive, hospitable and kind as ever. I ordered the mussels diablo which were pretty good, and the rocket fuels were on point. Thanks for providing me with such a pleasant birthday lunch!

This place was absolutely superb! Delicious food, friendly staff, and most of all it had a great atmosphere. Random side note– The grilled Caesar salad; HOLY F%#! that’s scrumptious! At night it really bumps with people, but not in a bad way. Our server was Randi and she was amazing. 10⁄10 would go again in a heart beat.

Before my visit to Fire Island a few friends told me I must try the islands drink Rocket Fuel. Since this is the place that invented we decided to come here to see what all the hype was about. I didn’t try any of the food just came to have this drink. We got a high table by the bar and walked to the bar to order our drinks. The Rocket Fuel is pretty much a piña colada with Bacardi 151. The drink was good and very strong which I enjoyed. This place threw me off a little since it has a very mix décor. half of it is juts like a pub and the other trendy restaurant. I think this place is more of a bar by their drinks and music so maybe they should stick to that theme.

I stopped at this bar with some girlfriends of mine before getting back on the ferry. They wanted to try their Rocket Fuel drink because they heard so much about it. We sat down at a table and my friends went to the bar to get their drinks(we didn’t see any servers). I didn’t have any but they told me they liked it because it was strong. The Rocket Fuel drink was $ 12 each and it came it a plastic cup. The reason I am giving it two stars is because of the décor. Basically, if the bar was a person it would be confused. The bar looked like it belonged in a pub but it had white granite counter tops. The tvs were playing sports. The dining area had seats with white cushioned back boards and white sheer curtains. It left me thinking: is this a pub, sports bar or modern restaurant?

Not my first time here but was definitely the first time I was disgusted! Have not been privy to the dining aspect of this establishment, only the club life part. The floors were filthy and sticky and the bathrooms… my goodness! Both toilets were overflowing with soiled toilet paper and the water was flowing onto the floor. Horrible!

Ummm can you give 0 stars??? What a horrible place to eat. We arrived just as they took out the dinner menus which stated it was pasta night. Ok we’ll — not what we wanted but dealt with it. Since I had my 2 kids with me they said there was no kids menu but we could get them anything but the steak sandwich. I then asked for chicken fingers and they said they ran out. Ok. Then a burger and that was non problem but it could only be ordered for the kids? I was forced to order the pasta specials. We had the pasta with bolognese sauce, and pasta chicken pomodoro. The chicken was a thick fatty slab and the bolognese was more like sloppy joes both were very spicy!!! Needless to say — it sucked and the staff was very awkward. I will comment though that the bathrooms were very nice and well appointed and clean. I will certainly avoid this place in the future.
