Based on other reviews and the fact that this place still has the scum of the earth working here I doubt the owners actually care about my review but I’m writing it so the anyone else thinking about visiting this place can save themselves. With that said I came here with some friends & immediately after paying for drinks my friend was told he «better leave a f#*kin tip» by the inbred bartender, he wasn’t tipped. Later when ordering shots the same guy tried to charge us $ 40 for 2 shots & when questioned why I was thrown out of the bar. I initially thought his crude attitude was based on my friends race but after seeing reviews it seems as if he’s a miserable person with a Napoleon complex that feels better when he goes home at night because he got to play God in ocean beaches worse bar. Kudos assbag! Owners if you’re reading get rid of the jerk and the smells in this place, everyone else do yourselves a favor and avoid the trash.

The have day time drinks. They are unusual but work for this place. One of the interesting drinks is called the zippy. The also have inside and outside seating. Tho prices are reasonable from $ 5.00 to $ 15.00. It really depends on what you order.

I unfortunately have to agree with Nathalie. The bartender, she is speaking of is an arrogant human. I asked for a drink and he completely ignored me. I used to love housers but now I’m questioning this establishment. RIP housers.

Why does this bar have the biggest fuck boy bartender known to man? One of my local friends shared his name with me JOEQUINN. This guy is the worst. Great place, shit bartender. Apparently no one likes him!

As a fire island local For he last 25 years I can honestly say I genuinely love housers night life. It’s a wonderful scene except for one tiny(MASSIVE) problem. There’s this asshole bartender named Joe Quinn? He’s actually the biggest piece of shit I have ever encountered(and that’s saying something seeing as I went to college in Miami). My friend had ordered multiple drinks and by multiple I mean around 14 drinks. I go to check which one is mine by simply picking one up and looking and he rips it out of my hand, throws it out, and calls me «fucking disgusting». He proceeds to tell me my drink is a corona lime(I have never had a corona lime in my life so highly unlikely). I go BACK to the bar 8 minutes later and I rest my beer, which I haven’t touched, on the bar and he grabs it out of my hand and throws it out. This guy is a genuine piece of shit and I am absolutely openly shitting on him(just I. Case anyone was wondering or even confused). It’s not okay to treat anyone that way I don’t care how fed up you are working behind a bar. Been there done that. Grow the fuck up. Fire him please. I’ll come back when he’s gone, but until then I assure you that none of my LOCALFIREISLANDOCEANBEACH friends will be entering this facility. Other than this shit head I love housers. Maybe fix the bathrooms? I mean I can live with them but if I had a choice between keeping JOEQUINN or the bathrooms I would choose the bathrooms over and over again and over and over again for the rest of time. In short. Fucking fire Joe Quinn he fucking blows. Bye. Out.

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago when I was at housers. I was served by a bartender named, Joe Quinn who completely ruined my night. I was here for my friends bachelorette party, we ordered drinks and he was rude. I’ve been to a lot of bars and have never had as bad as a service as I did here.

5 stars for this place because the drinks are delicious, food is tasty and everything is reasonably priced! $ 6 zippy coolers before 7pm and $ 12 for a chicken wrap and fries? Sounds good to me. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We didn’t have to wait for a table for 2, but larger groups did have to wait. Definitely a cool stop to start out at for dinner and drinks or to pop in after a long day at the beach for some apps and a zippy!

I’m pretty sure that we stumbled into this bar one night and threw back about six pickle-backs in a matter of 10 minutes. From what I recall, the bartender was pretty fun — we even bought him a drink to shoot with us. Of the diveyer bars, this was the better of them.

One of our absolutely must go-to spots when hitting Ocean Beach! An old school, beachy, reasonably priced, dive type bar! In the front is a pool table and the bar which gets PACKED, but despite the chaos, the bartenders are speedy and efficient. Zippy Coolers are the go to drink here, be sure to order one! Behind this area are the restrooms which I LOATHE. The lines never move, worse than any other restroom I’ve been too. The volume of people this place attracts, there really needs to be a stall or two added! Be prepared, for every five men who go, ONE woman goes, and I’m not kidding. I’ve seen people get nasty on this line while waiting and begin banging on the door. The dance floor is usually always packed and the selection of music is crowd pleasing, playing oldies hits like«SHOUT» AND«Come on Eileen» and throwing some hip hop into the mix. There is a very spacious outdoor section on the beach with plenty of picnic tables and a beautiful view of the boats sitting in the water, great alternative when inside becomes overwhelming. Excellent, laid back, venue with a decent size to it. There are also Darts in the dance floor section as well!

We used to love going here when The Cravin Band(aka Cravin Moorehead) played here. Hopefully, they’ll be back at some point.

Decent place to hang out for day drinking. They have a pretty big back patio right on the water. I’d probably give more stars if I ordered the regular bar food but I decided on the lobster roll and wasn’t a fan. It didn’t have much meat and the side salad was lacking.

My fíance and best friend loved this place! Their staff was welcoming and very friendly. Also, it was the ONLY restaurant that was pet friendly. The vibe was nice and the food was great, especially their potato salad. I would definitely go back!

Basically the only place to eat in OB that isn’t crazy overpriced. Over MDW they ran out of a lot of different menu items, so that was slightly annoying. At night, the crowd here gets really rowdy– I enjoyed it more during the day. Zippy’s are the way to go here. Bathroom line gets out of hand when it’s busy; also a bit annoying. Regardless, it’s decent, cheap eats on the bay.

Always a very fun time. Awesome outdoor seating area with a view on the bay. Live music is very common in the weekends. It may look a little shabby but their drinks are delicious and the service is always prompt.

Two words. Zippy. Coolers. If you’re hangin’ in the land of ‘No’, say yes to a few of these bad boys, especially during happy hour when they’re only $ 6. Sure, these things are pink and you have to say ‘I’ll have a Zippy Cooler’ to get one, but they are potent and refreshing. Beyond the Zippy, Houser’s is a fun dive on the island with a nice sandy outdoor area overlooking the bay. The menu is respectable here too. Respectable in the fact that they don’t try to go too far. It’s simple fried/bbq food(along with some fresh lobsters I saw that looked pretty darn good) and it comes at a decent price. This might be the only place on FI not trying to completely rip you off. Don’t come here expecting a nice TV to watch the game, a gourmet meal or for people in white pants. Come with your sandals and a thirst for a zippy and a burger. You’ll do just fine. Protip: Bathroom is gross.
