Even though I have stayed at the Fire Island hotel every summer for the past four summers, I never thought to read any of the on-line reviews. After I read them all I can say is that it is clear that like Fire Island itself — people either love it or hate it. Put me in the category of Love it! I hate to use all caps but THISISNOTTHEHAMPTONS! That’s the whole point — Fire Island is the anti-Hamptons and the best part of staying at the hotel is the laid back atmosphere, the beach two seconds away and the complete lack of pretentiousness. The staff treats guests like family and they have always been sweet, attentive and helpful towards us The rooms are clean and reasonably priced(try checking out what it would cost per night to rent a house out in Fire Island). The hotel pool is great, the Tiki bar is a blast and the food in the restaurant is exceptionally good. If you like high heels, Rolex watches fancy cars and sitting in traffic for hours on end, you should probably book a hotel in the Hamptons but if you want an authentic, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable beach vacation this hotel is the best. I can’t think of anywhere else I would want to go on my summer vacation.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time here this past weekend we will be visiting again in the future. I read some negative reviews here but I guess everyone is different and have different views of there own. We enjoyed ourselves and ended up getting a room last minute do we were lucky and to add also the staff was amazingly accommodating.

This is a 2 star hotel, in a beautiful location in Ocean Bay Park — Fire island. Its only $ 120/night for 2 double beds. It has a swimming pool and its step to the ocean. Food was great and drinks were $ 5 dollars! we had an amazing time. I highly recommended if you want to get away from the city on a low budget

Run alooooong little camper. In fact, consider camping at the National Seashore. It’s accepted that you are on a small island where crap is ferried in and you will pay more for everything on FI — then there’s the art of gougery. There’s no excuse for the bates-ness of this place. This was the last time reservations for anything were left to my mother. Happily this error was corrected midway through an end-of-season trip by a change of venue.

I have not stayed here but just this morning I called to make reservations. At 12 noon I call and the woman answering the phone says in a nasty voice, «Hello?» I pause and ask, «Is this the Fire Island Hotel?» She just says yes and nothing else. I have to assume that this kind of phone manner is indicative of the service you get there. Just a heads up, this place does not appear to be that interested in even basic pleasantries.
