Drinks are amazing and well made. A bit pricey but worth your money. The calm and relaxed environment make for interesting conversations.

This was one of the few bars in Flagstaff that was close to empty when we arrived just after 7 on the Friday of NAU’s homecoming weekend. I figured with a name like«Speakeasy» they’d have fun drinks and frankly it was a lot more my scene since it wasn’t packed with co-eds shotgunning beers. As a bonus, this is actually a piano bar! The pianist started playing around 8 and she was wicked good. My only request is that she learns more Mariah Carey, because we could all use some more classic MC in our lives. Anyway, we’re okay with paying a little more for fun drinks an an awesome atmosphere and that’s exactly what we got at Speakeasy. The bartender, Arianna, is this awesome NYC chick who somehow(THANKGOODNESS) landed in Flagstaff, AZ. She was serving up cocktails that could rival any bar and doing it with finesse, speed, and a great attitude. I started my night off with a chocolaty drink that was down right delicious. I want to say it was called the Betty Draper, but don’t quote me. After I polished that off, I asked Arianna to make me something with prickly pear in it and she whipped up the most amazing«Desert Rose» cocktail. I’m not kidding you, she had a notepad in her handbag full of recipes that she created herself. That’s a real bartender! We also got an order of fries to soak up some of the cocktails we were guzzling and they were crispy and delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here. In fact, if and when I ever find myself back in Flagstaff, I will absolutely make a stop at Speakeasy.

Great atmosphere, very tasty drinks, fun bartenders and loved the live pianist! It had pictures of artists on the wall, outside seating, and the painting of people on the outside wall by door entrance was cool.

Knowing that this is a part of the Collins & Monsoons chain(Collins known for a young«club» type atmosphere) we didn’t expect such a pleasant environment. With an older crowd(30 – 50 yo) and a charming ambiance, this is a great place to have a fun drink with friends without the distraction of young college students. They have the feel of a speak easy in the sense that they have time period drinks and a live piano player; though you don’t have to worry about the cops busting in because this is 2015.

Five stars for the food. Two stars for ambience. No stars for the piano player. I had the Blue Cheese Burger which was absolutely delicious. As for ambience, I thought it was going to be, think Nobu in Los Angeles. The piano player probably is/was a college student and technically better than I will ever be. Because she played every popular song on her song list with the exact same tempo and emotion, It became quite fun to see how Cat’s in the Cradle would sound exactly like Carry on My Wayward Son when played exactly the same. Just a reminder, they stop serving food at 10 pm, so get in there early.

Cool chill spot in downtown Flagg. I’ve been up here twice and had a good time in both occasions. There are two entrances to the bar, one thought the patio facing the street and one in the back alley that makes it feel like a Old speakeasy. Of course I go in through the alley! On our last visit we had an amazing drink«mule» from the bartender and listened to a woman play the piano. Again just a super chill bar that I know I’ll be back for.

Came across Speakeasy while in town for a wedding. We wandered in on a Wednesday night which we learned is not a night they are open for regular business. Wednesday is R & D night(Research & Development) and the owner John explained that its his locals night and he offers up his newly inspired cocktails. We were immediately fans of this idea, his drinks and the fact that he allowed us to hang out and be a part of the local experience. John was also willing to serve any regular cocktail in addition to his signature creations of the night. We had the pleasure of experiencing his Bourbon and Corn Water cocktail, Prickly Pear Margarita, a unique Chai Tea creation, as well as a superb Gin and Tonic with Cucumber, Rose Water and Elderberry. Drinks were great, and although it was not a normal business night compete with wait staff, the owner provided exceptional one man service! The only reason I didn’t rate this five stars is that we were not there on a regular business night so I can’t speak for the weekend vibe and service but my four stars are equal to five for the experience we had. Looking forward to another visit next time we’re in town!

So I went here 2 nights in a row and got a mixed experience. First off, as others mentioned, not truly a speakeasy setting. You can see the bar through the windows. With that said, there are attempts for the Speakeasy setting(furniture, attire, bookcase door to nextdoor). Night 1, Friday: Awesome drinks and bartenders. Lots of energy and laughter. The bartenders did a fantastic job of recommending drinks. Only complaint was that the piano player was a bit stiff. She’s definitely talented, but she didn’t really fit in with the vibe. Night 2, Saturday: Energy level was much lower. Not sure what it was, but there was quite a difference in the mood. Drinks were great again, and I think we discovered they put vanilla or something in their water. Piano player still felt off… maybe its the location? Bottomline: If you’re looking for a good tasting cocktail, definitely stop by for a drink. If you’re looking for a Speakeasy experience. find another.

Crowd and energy a little up and down, but ALWAYS worth dropping in for a drink. Order the Lemon Thyme Gin(heavy on the gin) and enjoy piano in the background.

So I’ve been here twice and the first time I had a blast on a Friday night. Piano music(granted an upright electronic piano…), dim moody lighting and some fantastic drinks. If you haven’t yet, try the«Outlaw» especially if you like bourbon. My only complaint is that I’ve never liked noisy bars and on the weekends in the late evening it can get a bit loud. The Bartender’s name was Jordan and he was a crack shot on the drinks and fast about it, as well as putting on a bit of a show for the people around the bar. Jordan is great when he’s on his game, but our next visit he seemed he was having an off night. The second visit, the new bartender was clearly in over his head. We sat down in a booth but he didn’t come over or acknowledge we were there for about 10 minutes so we sat down at the bar. Again, took a bit to get our first round. Jordan showed up and started helping pick up the slack. After about 20 minutes of sitting with empty drinks and neither bartender checking on us for a second round, we asked for the check which took another 10 minutes to arrive. It was an odd departure from the awesome service from the last weekend, especially considering we were repeat business. I don’t want the red carpet rolled out for sure, but maybe kick the service up a notch. Drinks to try: The Outlaw, The White Linen and their dirty martini is fantastic when they get it right. Overall I’d say thumbs up, hopefully Saturday was a fluke!

We like the ambiance, liked the chocolate martini, the wings and shrimp appetizers and the lobster mac n cheese. Piano player is pretty good too.

Nice atmosphere with an older crowd. Not a lot of college students here. However, the last two times we went there they couldn’t make us a pisco sour. They said they had no egg whites. Right before we went there, we were at monsoons and they didn’t have ginger beer. However, the difference is that the people at monsoons went out and bought ginger beer, whereas those at the piano bar just said they didn’t have egg whites. Twice! That was unfortunate! Big difference in customer service right there! Especially since a pisco sour is on their menu, ginger beer was not on monsoons menu.

There’s something about this bar that really appeals to me. I don’t know if its the classic pub style or if its the the fact that I ended up playing Cards Against Humanity with a group of 6 complete strangers for 3 hours last night(maybe its both). That being said this place has consistently been among my favorite haunts in Flagstaff. Great music and great people here. I always enjoy my time here.

Stopped in for a late afternoon drink and I was pleasantly surprised. We were the only two patrons at the time and the bartender was very friendly and engaging. I’m a sucker for a cocktail with the word«ginger» in the name and I was pleased with what I ordered. The bar was low key, just what I like, so I’ll be back again soon.

Apparently this used to be The Piano Bar(which would make the 4th «The Piano Bar» I have been to in The United States) No no, it is called Speakeasy. I could expound on it not being like a normal speakeasy in San Francisco or Los Angeles Or how it is too brightly lit to make me feel comfortable(I listen to Bauhaus, therefore I am) But I ought not to Because we had 2 for 1 Absinthe (PREPAREDTHECORRECTWAY. Spoon and fire and all) It was delicious and I figured I would inspire Morrissey somehow But that was the 2 for 1 Absinthe talking The booth was comfy and I realized that I do like this town, I do I do!
