A fabulous place! They have done it right with delicious food, industrial vintage ambience and great up-beat romantic music! We had the carnitas mole tacos and posole and they were delectable. Friendly and fast service. We were just passing through Flag, but thrilled to find a place like McMillan’s!

Horrible service, wasn’t greeted when we came in and didn’t get waters to our table for a few minutes. The water was like it came straight from the tap, no ice and Luke warm. The food was good but the soda was so flat, we returned it, ew! I even tried to use the 20% off on Unilocal and the waitress messed it up and then tried to blame it on me! Said I needed to do it again, I’m like i can’t it’s already been used cuz it says I can’t use it again.

I cannot comprehend how there are negative reviews on this place. I love it. I’m a local and I come here all the time. I’ve never had anything that wasn’t prepared carefully and that didn’t taste delicious. The service can be slow at times, but only on occasion and it’s always worth the wait. Drink-wise, all of the menu cocktails are great and they make a fantastic hot toddy. Always a good selection of beer and wine. Favorite menu items include the greek salad, the black bean burger, mac and cheese, pad thai, nachos, and the tempura cheese curds. The desserts are always great. They sometimes have desserts that are not on the menu – recently these have been made by one of the servers. Janani. If you get seated in her section, count yourself lucky. She’s damn good at her job. The noise level varies. In the afternoons it tends to be quieter, but even in the evenings it can vary. I was there with my mom a few days ago and it was pretty quiet(comfortably). Tonight, I was there with a friend and the table behind us was pretty loud, but it was a large group and looked like a reunion of some kind. So I don’t hold it against the place ;)

This is a very historic building built by Thomas McMillan One of the first settlers here in Flagstaff in 1887, The staff will call them by far not very friendly so I’m not going to complete this review until I come back and visit another time but as for now I’m not impressed, i’m sitting at the bar waiting for someone to help me it’s been 14 minutes, So I got up and walked out like I said I’ll be back and I’ll give it another review our update this one, The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because the historic status of the building itself and a very cool interior.

This is a flagstaff gem. If you are looking for a great space, thoughtful kitchen and something a bit better than grunge — head to the McMillan. If your group is filled with both carnivores and herbivores, double this recommend.

Fantastic food, I had a burger on Monday(5 dollars on Mondays) and paid extra to have jalapeños and an egg added. It was fantastic. Additionally, the curry sauce that comes sweet potato fries is off the hook. I washes it down with a duck fart shot, which tasted fantastic! I can’t recommend a drink here more than their specialty duck fart!

We are from Phoenix and this was our second time eating here and it blew our minds! The food and service was amazing. The tacos were delicious, the guacamole and chips were out of this world, the poutine was so full of flavor, the Greek salad was great… Everything we ordered was amazing. Definitely going to be our new spot when we are in town!

This place was fairly empty on the Monday night when we were there but the food and the experience were really good. We started with an IPA and the Beeting drink, beets in a drink, what? It was wonderful! I could drink those all the time. We then moved on to their tempura cheese curds with jalapeño crema, the actual curds were just okay but being from a place where curds are on almost every menu means I have high expectations. The sauce with it was what brought the dish back, great. For entrees we had Forsythe Burger and the Racher’s Steak. The burger was a little spicier than I had expected but still pretty good. The steak was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes underneath were meh but we had so much food to eat that it wasn’t an issue. If I lived in this town the beeting and curds would be on my regular rotation.

I am very disappointed with this restaurant. We went to the lumberjack across the street, however they had a 1 hour wait time. Using Unilocal like I love to do to find anything, I found the McMillan and saw the good reviews so we decided to go since it was close and seemed good. We called in advance and they said they could seat us. We walked over and greeted promptly. One thing I noticed is that there were only about 10 people se Not only that but our group of 13 was seated in the game room which was pretty cool and exciting. The guy who sat us, also took our drink order. Then that’s when things went downhill. We then saw our waitress 30 minutes later, who took our food order. After waiting probably around another 30 minutes, our food finally came out delivered by the cook which I thought was a bit strange but no problem. She seemed a bit flustered and didn’t seem to happy to help but was professionally nice at least. She asked if we needed our waitress and we said yes. Then after that we went 30 minutes while running out of water, and needing condiments for the food until the first person who greeted us came in and asked us what we needed which was a lot. Not to mention the burgers were bland, and had way too much pepper for everyone that ordered a burger. After that our waitress delivered what we needed and seemed frustrated with our entire party. Because most of us are college students, we were planning on splitting the tab however when we asked her if we could she was visibly upset. One of the girls that was with us, even offered to help split the check, however she was shrugged off by the waitress. Then our waitress came back and had to recheck what we ordered to split us up. Not only that but it was a good 20 minutes for the checks after giving her our cards. Overall, I would say skip this restaurant if possible, unless every other restaurant nearby is busy however that’s what happened to us and I would have rather gone to another restaurant entirely. Lots of restaurants nearby that would be more fun, have better food, and be an overall better experience.

Conveniently located along Route 66 in historic downtown Flagstaff, The McMillian is a perfect blend of modern hip and wild west charm. A wooden interior with antique accents feels welcoming and cozy upon entry. Guests are immediately presented with a large bottle of water, which we always appreciate. Things keep getting better as you peruse an interesting menu containing a mix of comfort food and unique twists on favorites. We started with the tasty cheese curds with jalapeño aioli(think mini mozzarella sticks), but there are several items on the menu intended for sharing. We can further vouch for the avocado and roasted red pepper enhanced BLT on sourdough(delicious toasted bread that was gentle on roof of my mouth) and the dump truck salad.(We lost count of the big burgers being served, so clearly their burgers are poplar.) The comfortable space contains large tables that are excellent for accommodating large groups and make this a fun place to gather for happy hour. Plus, The McMillan is known for their cocktails. Regular and USB outlets under the beautiful antique marble bar lets you know they encourage lingering and working while sipping those cocktails.

Not only was the food fantastic, the staff here is kind and has personality. Refreshing. I have a lot of strange food allergies that most restaurants give me hell for and the staff tends to be unkind towards me. They went above and beyond my requests. The last time I got that kind of service was from a restaurant my best friend’s husband managed. We’re from out of town so we had questions about what to do and they joined us in the booth to speak with us. There was genuine care in answering our many questions. Overall, great place. I would definitely come back!

The food is always amazing, i have so far tried the mac with carnitas, roadside nachos, guac blt, Forsythe burger and the hot chick. i would highly recommend each one of these choices. The only compliant i have about this place is that the service is pretty terrible. Taking a little more attentive to be friendlier and more attentive would make this place a go to spot in my book!

Thank you Tucker for the gift card and another chance to try the food here. When we went this time is was much better. I see things have stabilized and the food came out quickly and tasty. The ambiance is wonderful and we will be back for sure. One thing — I’m still boggled by the menu. There is a cow decal on the windows but not to many choice beef selections on the menu. The menu seems randomized — but I guess that is appealing also since it could please several types of eaters.

I’ve been to The McMillan Vig a few times now, I love it more each and every time. The quaintly diverse menu has been a life saver when dragging my picky eater(Adult) friends and they love their meal. The service is top notch and Graeme the new manager in town is great, he always come by the table to say hi anytime we’re in. This place is great, and keeps getting better. Try the Carnitas Mole tacos, so so so so good.

We live in Flagstaff and visited this restaurant a year ago. The drinks were GROSS and the veggie burger and Pad Thai literally tasted like they were pre packaged and heated up. Nasty, right? So, decided to give it another shot based on a $ 20 bottle of wine happy hour thing. We got here and that deal no longer exists. Of course! We also got the guacamole and hummus happy hour bites. Seriously, the guacamole tasted like doctored up premade guacamole and same For the hummus. The food here is SOLAME!!! This place has all the ambiance in the world and a crappy menu that will probably put it out if business. Please come up with something good!!! Take hints from your local neighboring restaurants so you can make this place fill the potential it has! Would love to come here regularly if the food was awesome :( Here’s to hoping…

Love the ambiance of the old building. The service was wonderful. The game room and shuffle board is fun. We only came in for drinks. The draft beer I had was good AND cheap. $ 3! Tried the edamame. It was $ 7 for a plate and I think that is crazy expensive. It was the same product I buy at the grocery store, steam in the microwave and crack sea salt over.

One of downtown Flagstaff’s best restaurants, especially for groups of people who all want a variety of food to choose from… and it’s under new management… The McMillan has recently gone through some changes and improvements, and the new management seems to be getting things in order. As a half-local(half my time in PHX and have in FLG), knowing that this is just recently operated by the folks who operate the Vig series of restaurants in PHX gives me confidence that things will continue to improve and get better and better… today’s lunch was no exception… everything was perfect. Sure, the service could use some work, but this is Arizona after all, a state not known for service at even the best restaurants… instead of requiring food handlers cards in Arizona, they should require server training cards… the server we had today(a guy, don’t know his name), was spot-on… while a female server at another table was hunched over the table, elbows on the table, talking to the patrons. Again, this seems to be improving though, and the service was just as good as the service I’d receive at Brix, one of the top restaurants in Flagstaff. I think this spot is clean, comfortable, enjoyable, the variety of food is perfect for bringing a group of people who might not all be able to decide on one cuisine… the food came out perfect today, and the server we had was great. There’s not one thing I could complain about on our experience… even the new manager came around and asked how things were and was genuinely interested in making sure that his staff were doing their jobs, that the food was cooked perfectly, etc., etc. Great job, A+ experience, 5 stars… we’ll continue coming back at least once a week since we live down the street!

I revisited this place this evening because I wanted to give it a second try since I had given it such a low score based on my prior experience. Also, the manager of the place, Stephanie had also contacted me and invited me to come by again since they had changed their menu around and had a new chef. I was very impressed with her willingness to defend this establishment, and I felt honored to be invited back. The result… it was a little bit of a mix between positive and negative, and I would have given it 2 stars if it weren’t for something that I had noticed when I left, but more on that later. First let me state the changes that I noticed. The current menu seems to be a little similar to the old one. They have a nice selection of alcoholic beverages, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and some more traditional dinners. This is by no means a bad thing because they did have some interesting products on their menu before. The menu seems to be a bit more limited to me, since I can recall ordering things that weren’t present today such as a meat and cheese plate. I am not sure what if anything was new. In my prior review I had some positive things to say about the décor. This has not changed as it still looks like the same place. One of the cool things about it is that there are game rooms in the back and I saw posters advertising what I believe was a game night(it was dark and I had trouble reading it without my glasses). Additionally, the food was very good. I ordered an appetizer of grilled vegetables, which was a little expensive at $ 10, but it came in a huge plate and was delicious. Interestingly enough, it contained bok choy, and not only was it was the first time I ever had it outside of a Chinese restaurant, it was the first time I ate it grilled. Very nice. For my entrée, I got the country chicken plate, which included a large chicken thigh, garlic potatoes, and also, the very same vegetables that were included in the grilled vegetable appetizer. Props also for the free house beer with the entrée for checking in on Unilocal.Although, I didn’t drink it, my companion did and he reported it tasted very nice. As for the entrée, I thought the chicken was cooked perfectly an, and the citrusy seasoning was very nice overall. The potatoes were great, although I wish they tasted more like they were described. I was expecting a garlic taste, but found that it was very subtle. The vegetables were vegetables. They were fine. While the entrée was decent, the price was not. Given that it cost $ 19, I was very disappointed and I do not think it was worth the money I paid, In fact, I feel like I was ripped off. It was 10 dollars more than what my friend got, which was a chicken sandwich with this avocado spread with french fries. By the way, my friend also said that while the chicken was cooked perfectly, it was not seasoned well, and also, he could hardly taste the avocado sauce which was the primary reason why he ordered it. As for the service. Our waitress, was very nice, and was even the same one we had last time we were here. However, we had some of the same problems with the service as last time, which was that the service was slow during different periods. For instance, our waitress did not seem to notice that our jug of water was almost empty. Also, when it came time to pay for our meal, it took our waitress about 10 minutes to check us out. However this also occurred at a point where it was packed. Yet, there seemed to be only 2 people out on the floor aside from the bartender who never strayed far from the bar. As such, I was fairly disappointed by my second visit, and that is the reason why I found it difficult to review this place fairly. However, given that they recently rebooted their menu and the commitment demonstrated by their manager and staff, I give it three stars. Overall its definitely an improvement from the last time I visited and I hope they can turn things around. I also wonder if there was a lack of management present, because I know that the current manager was not there at the time.
