Great cheap drinks, very clean, comfortable and low key atmosphere.
Our über driver told us to go here and it was a great call.

Bad-​Ass, Basement bar! Freaking awesome! Don’t know what people are complaining about or what they expect. Your in Flagstaff, your downtown, it’s a college party part of town, it’s a bar… In a basement… Pretty freaking cool if you ask me!
We originally walked in to go to the bar upstairs. As I walked in I felt the floor under me vibrating and loud music coming up from the floor. I ask the guy «What is that?!» He says «Gopher Hole… The Bar in the Basement.» Me, with all kinds of excitement: «No freaking way?! Can we go?!» Door man: «Yea…» I about killed myself running down the stairs. It was pretty slow at first because we were out pretty early. But it filled right up about at 10:30pm. The drinks we poured perfectly, when it got busy I didn’t wait too long, the music was good, they played a little bit of everything for everyone that will make you dance. The game room was filled with goodies! Darts, shooting games, and pool.
So of your looking for a fun night out, dancing, drinking, and playing some games. This place is perfect. Not a place to relax and have a conversation. That’s more of the upstairs atmosphere. Which I love it up there too! I can’t wait to come back.

Good for drinks, but the music sorta sucks. There are darts and pool tables here if you are interested in that. There is good variety but the prices are standard. There is definitely better atmosphere in other places.

I’m here right now and wish I wasn’t. The navy bean «broth» was flavorful but the food wasn’t hot. I had the steak quesadilla. It was room temperature. I won’t come back here. The bartender was nice. The waitress was nice, but quite ditzy. Don’t waste your time or money here. In fact, the service is so bad the group next to me just got up and left. I’m giving the place one star for the bartender (who, by the way, said «oh, sorry» when I told him about the experience), the ditzy waitress, and the room temperature food. I will never come back here and I suggest you don’t bother trying it out.

The whiskey sprite is good but it’s hard to go wrong with two ingredients. I literally sat here for 5 minutes (which doesn’t seem long) before the bartender acknowledged my presence and asked if I wanted a drink, even though we made eye contact 30 seconds into me sitting down. So you get 0 stars for customer service and 2 stars for your basic drink.

Super friendly bartenders got my food order in just before kitchen closing and made the best martini I’ve ever had. Had fabulous salad, first time I’ve ordered in the basement, usually eat in Zane Grey.

If I could give half stars I would give this place a solid 3.5. It’s a really chill divish bar. Juke box. Small game room. Good ambience. Good selection of beer on tap. Decent prices. The staff is friendly. Cool crowd. Crowd is a little on the older side, about late 20’s into the 30’s.

Came in for lunch with the family and we had a great time. Great food and great kids menu for the little ones. Great bar selection. Great atmosphere and the music was amazing. Definitely stopping in again!

I really want to love this place to be honest, but it can’t be done. Some really great people work here, unfortunately so do a couple of the worst servers I’ve ever experienced. Food came out cold the past two times I’ve visited and I’m not talking lukewarm, I mean COLD. Had to ask server to just nuke food and get it back out, no discount or anything even offered, hah! It’s possible to have a good time here, but prepare yourself by lowering your expectations to the lowest. Pretend you’re going to a fancy McDonald’s and you could make out alright, but definitely no promises even then.

This bar has an identity crisis. House music was blaring and it didn’t feel like a Charly’s bar. The service was below average and we ended up heading to the third floor bar which has the true feel if Charly’s and the Flagstaff feeling that we were expecting. Hopefully this place can figure out what it wants to be.

I guess people from Phoenix & Tucson are unimpressed with Flagstaff bars. I love this place! I go there at least weekly for trivia nights. The draft beer selection is great and the servers definitely remember the regulars and what they like. It has a great «Cheers» vibe, which is only enhanced by the exterior stairway to the outside street. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a chill place to hang out with friends and toss back a few beers.

Great place ! Sat by the fire & watched OSU basketball, snacking on popcorn drinking Good local craft beers. I think most visitors miss this place because it is downstairs! Gopher Hole even has a ping pong table!

My favorite place to go on Sunday’s. Amazing happy hour, good food and great bar. If you like a laid back atmosphere with good drink and food specials this is the ticket.

Pretty much hated it. Service was just ok at best, drinks were meh, place was meh. Literally the same thing as upstairs!!! Could have done something so different down there to bring in a different crowd. All three levels have the same genre going on, same patrons, same old everything. Not very interesting. I will not be back. I have stayed away from the weatherford for years for a good reason. The crowd and service. Just an FYI bartenders, you are there to serve me, please do not act like you are better than me, know more than me or are cooler than everyone else. You serve drinks. Your not cool.
The place left me with a bad taste in my mouth, it was just so whatever!

The availability of the popcorn was adequate. The «bro» bartender looked super pissed the whole time and the beer tasted flat. The guy checking ID’s was the coolest person there. The one saving grace was their service (wink wink), in case you didn’t know I was being sarcastic!

Two stars only because of the bartender! As busy as the bar was that bartender did not leave anyone waiting there for him for very long. After waiting 20 min at our table and not getting a server I asked the bartender about the table situation and he said my best get would be to come to the bar. Boy was he right.
The service at the Gopher Hole is non existent. There clearly was servers because every now and then we would see them bring food out but we were there for at least a couple of hours playing trivia and no one ever even came to our table.
The restrooms are clean, drinks are cheap, the offer free popcorn, and there’s a game room in the back.

I was very disappointed that they have the windows open and smoking spaces all along the side of the bar! The smoke comes in and it is just like being in a smoking bar. We went to see the Cadillac angels play and we had to leave because of the smoke. We never did get a waitress to wait on us even though the bar was extremely crowded. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I would rate a 0 if there was one. The blonde bartender is such a prick! And thats putting it nicely. I am surprised management would keep him there when there’s obviously other complaints about him. I will be sure to NEVER to support this establishment until they know how to properly train their employees.

I’m giving this place one star because I can’t give it zero. We stayed at the hotel over the weekend and planned to watch some football at the hole on Saturday. The bartender was a complete jerk. It was pretty clear he thought he was a bad ass, but the only bad things at this place were his attitude and the service. Maybe it was because we didn’t do legs that morning or were using the wrong hair product, but bro was not interested in helping us. The servers are nice. But the problem is, they don’t SERVE! It took an act of God for one of them to stop by our table. The staff came off like they are entitled, disinterested little brats whose parents should’ve doled out a spanking or two. If you don’t know the secret handshake, don’t go to this place. And if you don’t bench enough, bro the bartender will have issues with you.

The first two weeks of trivia we did were a blast. Last week we came in and got there a bit earlier so we could get food and drinks. Our waitress came up and the two other people at my table ordered while I was still thinking. I put down my menu to order and our waitress walked away!!! She didn’t ask if we wanted drinks or if I still needed a minute. When she came back with their food, I ordered an Irish coffee which came to me refrigerater cold. Not just luke warm. When the fourth person met up with us, she ordered a basket of fries which took an hour to come out. She didn’t stop at our table unless we stopped her and we started walking to the bar for our own drinks. Nothing was comped and she was rude. I want to go back because other waitresses were great, but this blonde girl, Emily I think, was terrible.
