Pretty decent food. Nothing amazing, but always great service to compensate the average food. The music is usually a pretty good selection and the drink specials are fairly good. Salads are huge and pizza is my usual go to for a night out here.

We love trivia on Thursday nights. Honestly the menu isn’t overly exciting but the pizza is great. Good atmosphere, good regulars, good beer and reasonable prices.

We’ve eaten here a couple of times now and I’m not impressed. First, there’s the atmosphere — it’s freezing in there. The two or three times we were there people were bundled up and shivering. Our waiter said yes he knew it was a problem but that there was nothing that could be done. Next, the food. It’s barely average. I had a burger(OK) and onion rings(not good). The onion rings were soft and mushy, not crispy. My hubby had an excessive amount of fries with his sandwich and they were fairly tasteless. I don’t remember what we ordered last time so it must have been unremarkable. There are better alternatives on the Island; we’ll patronize them next time.

I am floored seeing this establishment has only 2.5 stars. On the two occasions I’ve been to Brick Oven, both times the food was excellent and the service was quick. The most recent trip I got a calzone and my boyfriend had the breakfast burger. Their fries are great! They taste hand cut and fresh. The calzone was delicious! Full of yummy cheese with a very good marinara. I urge those of you who are on the fence about this place to go. It’s a solid YES.

Probably wouldn’t have gone here in the first place if I’d read the reviews before hand. But some friends invited us so we went before investigating further. We ordered pizzas and wings. Nothing to jump up and down again. A tiny 10″ white pizza was $ 14.99(I think)9 and lacking in flavor. The other pizza was Alfredo and bacon; that was ok. Friends said the wings were decent. I’m a water connoisseur and absolutely hate non filtered water. Call me a snob, see if I care But this water was pretty bad; I had to add about 6 lemons to make it bearable. Invest in a filtration system people! It’s 2016! Service was eh. Had to ask for menus. drinks and never got refills. Also had to ask for blue cheese 3 times and was still given ranch. I probably wouldn’t go back just because it left a lot to be desired.

First time here, so first impression. Staff top shelf! Prompt service an attention. Capacity probably at 25% on a playoff nfl saturday night. I expected more. I thought they did craft beer but did not find any lagers but yeungling. That is mine of choice, but I like to try others if I had not yet. Beer was cold and refreshing. We ordered antipasto salad and meat lovers pizza. Salad was Excellent. I was a little disappointed in the pizza. Toppings were good, but a bit sparse and not at all loaded like other reviews suggest. Crust makes or breaks a pizza and the crust was not quite cooked right for me. Let me explain. I worked in a pizzeria once and used to throw pies. This crust was undercooked for my likings yet showed signs of searing on the bottom. To me that indicates a bottom surface heat too high and cooking time too short. That and the recipe resulted in a chewey crust. Bottom line. Try this place and make your own decision. Clean place and great staff. If I come back and order pizza I will ask for slower and longer cooked crust. I am interested in trying wings.

Great place for the game! Fantastic drink specials and pizza is really good. I eat lunch here often and you can get two big slices loaded up for 6 bucks. Service is always nice I highly recommend for a sports bar or family dinner.

There is some negative feedback for this restaurant, but most of it is from when this location first opened. It has definitely improved from those days! Tonight we ordered an 18-inch pizza and 10 hot wings. The wings were served in exactly 13 minutes and they were bigger than the wings at most places. They were on the edge of crispy(which we like) and the«hot’ sauce wasn’t so hot that the kid’s faces melted off. Actually, hot could have been a little hotter. The bleu cheese dressing served with the wings was very good as well — not from a little sealed and branded cup — but tasted fresh with chunks of bleu cheese in it. The pizza was very tasty as usual, but the crust was somewhat soggy in the center even after waiting a couple of minutes to serve it. You couldn’t pick up the pieces to eat it until you ate at least half of the piece. But it was so good that we didn’t care too much. They use an excellent quality cheese and the crust is very good too. We ordered a simple pepperoni this time but usually get the Meat Lovers. The Meat Lovers pizza is always«slammed» with toppings. My wife thinks that it has too much meat, but the two boys and I love it with that much meat! The waiter tonight did an excellent job! Actually, it was the best service at this location that we’ve ever had. The service is what solidified the 4-star rating this fine restaurant received tonight. As a bonus, Wednesday night is Bingo night where the winner gets a dollar coupon for each win. We won twice! That’s two whole dollars off of our next visit! It was fun but fast paced making it a challenge to eat and play at the same time. Ignore the current low rating at the Gastropub in Fleming Island and order the pizza and wings. You won’t be disappointed!

I’m Italian so I know good Italian food when I see it and this wasn’t good Italian food. I came here the first day it opened and I enjoyed the pizza. I come back a month later and it was awful they used canned mushrooms, there crust was as soft as mashed potatoes, the meat was decent, the cheese was crunchy and the sauce tasted like jarred pizza sauce. This is definitely not New York pizza this is just plain out awful pizza!

We came here a couple of weeks ago, and despite the bad reviews on Unilocal, had a great experience. I would have given it a 4.5 if could have. We started with the onion rings. They were huge. We had to bring the leftovers home. We also got a couple of personal pizzas. We were informed that the pizzas take a little bit longer to cook, but they seemed to come out pretty quickly. Overall a good to great experience. We will return.

Island burger with sweet potato fries was steaming hot and pleasant. Friend ordered two slices of pizza with pepperoni, bacon, and mushrooms. He didn’t care for the mushrooms much as they were canned. House beer is Natty Light. Not my mug of beer but drink on!

We went here for the first time tonight. Not really to bad. It was kind of slow when we got there. We were greeted promptly and seated. Staff was friendly and curtious. Waiter was pleasant and knowledgable. We ordered a meat lovers pizza. Waiter told us up front it could take about 20 minutes, he recommended an appetizer while we waited. To me that is a clue your food is being made fresh when you wait a little for it. We had the cheesy bread, it was tasty but small portion. Enough for 2 people. When the pizza showed up it was just about 20 minutes but it was steaming hot and very tasty. It was enjoyable. For desert we got a cannoli and the brownie. I am very particular about my cannoli, it was not real dry and the filling was sweet. Overall it was good. We will be going back again to try a busy night and different food.

Everything was just ok I guess. Nothing was awful, nothing was wonderful. My daughter hated the Stromboli, said it was a three pound cheese bomb. The pizza was just so so, really salty, and the Sprite was flatish. Unless I’m meeting someone who really wants to come here I’m not coming back.

First time here with family from Atlanta. I moved to Jacksonville in 1990 and this is by far the best pizza I have ever tasted! Compares to my favorite pizza in Chicago! The atmosphere is laid back and very friendly! They have several tv’s to enjoy any game you want to see. Great little gem hidden in Fleming Island!

We tried this place knowing that the odds were not in our favor given the number of bad reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. Not blown away, but it was good enough to warrant a return visit. Service — We ordered takeout so can’t gauge the wait staff very well. Our order did not take long and was ready within 20 minutes(on a Friday night, no less). Food — The pizza was good, not the best I’ve ever had but it did not have the taste or texture of frozen pizza(as some of the other reviews claim). The antipasto salad was also good, very generous with the amount of meat. We will return. This was hands down better than Mellow Mushroom or Your Pie(though that doesn’t set the bar very high). We still need a great pizza joint on Fleming Island.

Wife and I ate at Brick Oven back when it was a little small place by the 7-Eleven and Salvation Army on 220 and owned by what I believed to be a family owned business. They seemed to care about their customers. There were no waiters or waitresses, just a couple of tables, a fish aquarium, and the cash register. They moved to their new, bigger location. The two slice pizza with choice of three toppings plus soda for $ 5.99 is what we usually got. Today was Friday, and the special was«fish and chips» and a soda for $ 6.99. Granted, the soda is normally $ 2.19 for a cup, but the«fish and chips» was more like a handful of greasy french fries and a «garnish» of fish. I don’t know what the fish was, but both«fillets» could fit into my palm. The waitress told me that was the half portion of the dinner size. Another complaint is that I usually went to other restaurants in the past like Sonny’s BBQ, and whenever a meal came with a drink included and I just wanted water, they would automatically deduct the drink from the meal and I would get a lower price. Brick Oven is not like that. A waitress at Brick Oven had told me that she never heard of any restaurant discounting the soda from a meal if one just wanted water. So the $ 6.99 was the cost of two fingerlings of fish and a handful of fries despite not getting soda. For that price, I could have gotten frozen fish and a bag of french fries and had plenty of fish to eat. The waitress just seemed indifferent to me complaining. She didn’t like hearing that I told her I knew now why there was so many fries, to attempt to make one full since they didn’t get their fill on the fish fingerlings. I know this is a «gastropub» and not a seafood restaurant, but for $ 7, it was just pitiful if that was the Friday Special. I included a photo of my fish portions. I dug underneath the mound of french fries to see if any pieces of fish happened to be buried underneath them. Nope. Just two small fish portions. The cup of tartar sauce is one of the regular 2 ounce containers.

As always on my way to class in Fleming Island, I usually stop for dinner. My usual Italian joint down there closed, so I headed over to Brick Oven. It was Happy Hour when I walked in, so the bar was full, but the rest of the restaurant didn’t seem to have anyone seated. I ordered my typical item, a sausage and pepper grinder. With the lack of people here, and most drinking rather than eating, my grinder seemed to take a rather long time to come out. It’s not like they were having a rush or anything. This was definitely proven by how much horsing around the waitresses were doing. They were running on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant and playing around with each other inside. You can tell they were bored. There didn’t seem to be anyone managing the front at all. My grinder was fine. Nothing to write home about, nothing to make it stand out. I was surprised at how high priced everything on the menu seemed to be. My soda was pretty up there too. I’m fairly certain that I could go across the street to Mellow Mushroom and find something more affordable to eat. If you can’t tell, I was more than disappointed of my experience at Brick Oven. There are significant changes to be made at this restaurant before I’ll ever think of stepping back through the doors.
