Avoid this restaurant at all costs. The food was simply awful! We ordered bruschetta which was flavorless — tomato with barely toasted bread — no onions, no basil but just tomato bread. The garlic bread was simply too garlicky. We ordered chicken parmigiana and saltimboca. They were average at best with out of the box pasta with again, barely any flavor. The pizza lacked the crispy and chewey crust which is expected from brick oven pizza. We will never return to this place.

Regularly order delivery and pizza is always hot and delicious. Big fans of the meat trio pizza and we hardly order anything else due to it being so addictive.

The atmosphere is casual and clean. The menu is pretty much the usual dishes at any Italian restaurant. They will bring you fresh warm rolls which taste great, be careful not to spoil your appetite. You can’t go wrong with any of the pasta or chicken entrees. We frequently order the take out pizza. They are cooked in an wood fired oven. The pizza sauce is good, probably made by them, not the typical canned sauce that other places serve. If you get a topping they will give a good amount. Both Pepperoni and sausage pies are very good. I also recommend the meatball topping. They cover the pie with thick large meatball slices. Their Large size pizzas are not as big as a typical large pizza but the taste is better. The Tuesday night special is a good deal but the wait time might be long for take out. Just plan your order accordingly and you will be fine.

I actually am a long time customer and will tell you the food is very good. That being said I would not give this place a 4th chance. My first bad experience was going on a Wednesday night at 5:30 and needing to be out of there by 6:45. My wife and I placed our orders and after an hour we still did not have our food. I told the server that it was taking too long and that we had an appointment. I asked to have the order to go and they agreed. 15 minutes later our food comes out on plates as we are getting up to leave. We couldn’t even take it with us because we were afraid it would take another 15 minutes to have it boxed. There were approximately 10 guests but I was told they had a large catering order. I didn’t go back for a year. My second bad experience was taking out of town business associates there and telling them how good the food was. There was 8 of us at the table and maybe 6 other people at other tables. We were seated and got our drinks and the server took our orders. It was clear that the server was new and spoke very little English. Our lunches came out and 3 of the 8 were incorrect. The 3 people who got the incorrect order decided to keep them as it was too painful to have the waiter understand what the problem was. I didn’t go back for 6 months. My last experience and final chance was yesterday. I got there at 12:30 with a business associate. There was a good crowd there and my associate said it may be high school graduation. We placed our orders and after 30 minutes of waiting I noticed that a catering order was being stacked on the table behind us. After 45 minutes I asked the server if we were close to getting our food. At 50 minutes I told our server they would have to make it to go. At 60 minutes a bag was handed to us as we were getting ready to leave. I paid and as I went out to the car I noticed the order was wrong but had no time to have it fixed. I called the Manager and let him know that I was unhappy and he told me that when they are busy and have catering orders they don’t have enough staff to service the customers. I advised him that if they couldn’t do both that maybe they should close when they have catering jobs. He told me in a condescending tone that he would relay my suggestion to the owner.

Overall good experience. The food was good. It was surprisingly busy for a Monday night. Because it was busy it made it harder to get out waitress’s attention but she was a good waitress and very friendly. (I’m not gonna hold it against them but they did forget to put mozzarella cheese in my Alfonso salad)

Alfonso’s is great for their BOGO-Free pizza Tuesday specials. It’s cash only, but the selection is good and you can get 2 small pies for under $ 10. It’s best to call ahead 4PM+ or you will likely find the wait time to be over and hour. Their regular entrees are good too. Good portions for the price. Service is mediocre and inconsistent but reflects the BYOB, plain and simple atmosphere. It’s relatively clean and can get really busy.

Delicious pizzas, salads and pasta. It was packed but we still got our order in a timely fashion and friendly service!

Alfonso’s has two locations — Flemington and Somerville. I’ve found the Somerville location to be the better of the two. While they both have large servings for entrees like chicken parmigiana, the Flemington location is seriously lacking in taste. The pizzas have poor tasting, watery tomato sauce and are light on the cheese. More recently, when I’ve called to place an order for pick-up, the wait time is over an hour. Stick to Panatierres.

Warm rolls with butter were presented as soon as we sat down. old fashioned and very much appreciated. The Neopolitian pizza was very thin crusted with an authentic Italian sauce. The baked ziti was al dente and good quality ricotta and mozzarella were generously mixed in. The nights special of penne with chicken, prosciutto, basil and pesto was cooked perfectly. The wait staff is young pleasant and efficient. The tariff was reasonable and happily paid.

If you’re in the mood for reasonably good Italian food at a reasonable price, Alphonso’s 202 is a good choice. While not necessarily gourmet fare, the menu is traditional Italian done fairly well. I have enjoyed lunch and dinner there including entrees as well as pizza. The pizzas have been excellent. The entrees tasty and enjoyable. I have seen the complaints about the staff. I would agree, they are not the warmest and friendliest around. But they are attentive and in my experience the food comes out quickly. The atmosphere is not the best. A little too wide open. The décor could be improved… Especially the flooring. I frequent both this location and the one in Somerville. Somerville has it beat for ambiance and atmosphere. It also benefits from having a bar. But I find the food is better at the 202 location. Nothing that I have encountered would stop me from choosing this restaurant. But as new Italian restaurants continue to open in the area, they could certainly stand to up their game just a bit.

What’s not to love here. It’s decent food with great service. Some things are hit or miss so if you want my hits, go for the chicken francese and the spaghetti puttanesca.

This place used to be really good when they first opened, since I have been back the food has went down hill in taste and quality. Their wood oven pizza used to be good and now I think they are Eh… Their pasta dishes used to be full of flavor and now it seemed like little to no flavor. I am guessing a new chef or some change with their purchasing of their ingredients. Other than that, if you are in the mood for pizza/pasta I could say honestly to try them out b/c they do have a half way decent menu and ability. I can’t vouch for consistency b/c 5 times I would have given them 4 stars, then other 8 I would have given them 2 – 3 stars. So 2 stars it is b/c of recent experiences.

Alfonso’s is mostly well known for there half priced pasta and pizza on certain days of the week(with purchase of a drink). I was excited to go here for the first time because every body told me about the huge plates of pasta you get(especially for half price). Overall Alfonso’s has good pasta, yet it didn’t blow me away. It was worth it though for half price. You also get some great free bread which was awesome. As far as the service our waitress was actually really good and fast but she didn’t have the best attitude, and didn’t talk much. I actually questioned whether she knew English or not. Alfonso’s is a quality Italian restaurant.

Alfonzo’s is one of the finest Italian family style restaurant around. Every dish consistent and full of flavor. The calamari with olives and peppers is a meal in itself! The bread… awesome. Never a complaint from my family Lb

I think that the A-OK applies to the food. I really like the pasta with sausage, tomato, spinach and garlic in broth. The soups are good and the bowl of soup is rather like a cauldron… huge… at least for me ! My family likes the pizza. The downside here is that whenever we have been here to eat … the service is SLOW and often they seem kind of brusque… it hasn’t stopped us from eating here, we like the food… but unlike some of the other spots in Flemington where the waitstaff are charming… the waitstaff at Alfonso’s could use some public relations skills.
