Buenos Aires Tango

5 stars for the food and live music. The entrance to the place is weird and at first it feels a little campy. But the food was good. We used a groupon and it was a great deal. The portions were big and we were there around 8pm and there was some nice live music with acoustic guitars playing. We will be coming back again soon.

My mistake was that I never checked the reviews about this place before I bought a grupon worth $ 100, as per other reviews the owner of this place is rude, obnoxious, arrogant, trying to belittle you, how dare you? You still in business because of us, you eat because of us, if this is the way you treat your customers, you are in the wrong business. No wonder the waitress had the same attitude, she learned from her master. Too bad, the lady owner is nice, trying to lift their business up but is not gonna happened. My check came less than $ 100, I spent around $ 90, with tax came around $ 98, I didn’t understand why do I have to pay $ 8 if the value was $ 100, I ask for an explanation, the waitress was very rude and ask the owner to come to her rescue. I just needed a simple explanation but the guy talked to us with such arrogance, in other words he was saying that we were cheap coming to his restaurant with a grupon and we should thank him for the discount. Also he said that we should read a little better the rules applying to this deal, in the end I left on the table the remaining of the bill and walked out, in my way out he was telling his waitress that I asked for the change from the check. Class act this guy, he tried to humiliate us, this guy doesnt deserve having a restaurant, he doesn’t know how to conduct business.

I don’t understand all the bad reviews this place gets. I am from Argentina, but been living in NY for over 20 years. You cannot compare this place with «Steak Houses» such as Wolfgangs, Peter Lugers, etc. For the price paid, you get very good quality and quantity. The ribeye was $ 24 including a side dish and was a good size steak. Not overcooked, tasty and tender. Had a «Milanesa Napolitana» which was delicious and well priced too. Wines are well priced too.
The service was decent, perhaps not the best, but definitely acceptable.

This is not my first time at this restaurant. I already know I don’t like the food but unfortunately I was dragged here because of family. So apparently this restaurant doesn’t believe in employing a bartender, yes servers have to make their own drinks. I ordered the chilled shrimp and the baked clams for the table. The shrimp was room temperature and the baked clams were very bland. When I got my caeser salad it was not cold at all, it was almost warm, unacceptable for a salad. The only thing about my meal that was good was the steak. Order your steak a temp lower than you would usually, they tend to over cook. What made me write this review is the obnoxious owner. My aunt decided to send back the chicken Marsala because it looked terrible and it tasted subpar at best, the owner came by and was very rude and yelled at my aunt saying that they serve quality products so on and so forth. I was appalled that the owner of a restaurant had the nerve to yell at a guest. Don’t come here ever it’s not worth the time or your money.
PS: waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Also I don’t think this place has an Executive Chef only cooks because if they did food wouldn’t come out as salty as it did.

poor attention, waiters tired of a daily routine of years moving by inertia, food late and cold, and finally you sit at a table of camping, I have two in my garage, and they use them in a restaurant, two stars that charge like 5 stars.

What a great place! Friendly atmosphere, talented musicians, and of course exquisite Argentinean food! The owners are very involved with their guests; from performing classics on stage, to greeting customers during their meals… While we enjoyed our meals, we were invited to a complimentary Tango lesson, which in itself was tons of fun! My personal favorites were the beef empanadas (accompanied to an amazing chimichurri sauce, omg!) and the sangria (both red and white)… And if you have a sweet tooth, the flan is to die for! Overall, a great family oriented restaurant! Looking forward to going again soon

Where can I start. Please if you ever have the brightest idea to come to this place, I ask for you to rethink it. They offered our party (with more than 15 people) a special price, tip and price included. When the actual check appeared, they were charging more than $ 500 of consumption that it wasn’t even from our table. To top it off, the owner was upset with us and the waitress as well. Coming from a place where we know Argentinian cuisine, is best to say to go to the next restaurant.

Mentioned I was using a groupon and it seemed to have set a negative atmosphere. I ordered a «parrillada for 2» and it said I had an option of two sides. The waitress was not sure of what those options were, but the owner/​manager was close enough to overhear and jumped in to say that they choose a mixed salad as one of our sides regardless of what we want! I asked several times if I could get something in exchange as it stated on the menu, he was very abrupt and solid in saying that they and only they chose the first option of the side. SMH. Everything after that was slow and lethargic service, unbelievable to see, as it was clearly a breach of what was stated on the menu.
The food was good but the atmosphere they set was a total turnoff in enjoying said food.

DON’T GO HERE! Came with a groupon and thought why not try it. We went and the food was tasteless. The prices were overpriced for the quality of food you got. The steak was soggy. No one was there so we should’ve known. & then at the end of the night they make you pay for the tax so make sure you order 100 dollars worth of food and don’t go short! The staff was also very slow and took 20 minutes to get bread. We had to ask twice! By the time it came, we were done with our food. All in all, I am definitely not coming back here and I would not recommend it! I don’t know how they are still in business.

Very dated, overpriced. An appetizer such as garlic shrimp cost nearly $ 14 for tiny shrimp described as «jumbo». The restaurant was empty only four other parties on a Sunday. which should have been the hint. I ordered a sirloin steak with rice and my companion had paella. The steak was so fatty. I could not even get an edible piece … They charge nearly $ 30 for this disaster. My companion had a paella which could only be described as «soupy» Upon bringing this to the attention of the waiter, he indicated we would still be charged 50% for my meal. I asked to speak to the manager who proceeded to be belittle me explaining that this is how a sirloin steak is… as if I never had one before. He then went further to tell me that I was not a food critic at which I informed him what I am is a «paying customer». . I was taken aback by his arrogance and lack of managerial skills. He said there is no charge «which was no gift, .» Take my warning, run in the opposite direction, this place is old and dated and again… OVERPRICED !!! How they are still in business is beyond comprehension.

OMG this place was amazing! I had a group of us! About 10! Including my fiancé and one year old daughter! They were extremely attentive and entertaining! Food was extra ordinary! This place was gorgeous. As soon as we walked in we were seated immediately. They taught us how to dance tango!!! Then they put on a few dance shows. Sylvia the owner was phenomenal! She greeted us personally and song she put an amazing show on! Her voice was heavenly. Just like the food! Prices were great too!

I went to this place because of Groupon and was extremely disappointed. The only reason we even stayed after walking into this place that smelled of mildew and had carpeted walls was because of Groupon. I took one bite of my ceasar salad and sent it back because it tasted like just anchovies and olive oil. The empanada’s were soggy and the mashed potatoes were watery. Lesson learned no one gives away half priced quality steaks!

We had a Groupon for $ 100 worth of food for $ 52 so we knew it was gonna be a great deal. We went on a Tuesday night and had reservations for 8pm. We got there at 730pm and we sat down immediately. Probably because we were the only ones in the place. We thought it was weird but really didn’t care. We were greeted right away and perused the menu. They have so many choices. But now I have to figure out how to spend $ 100 to get to the deal. I started with the baked clams. There were 4 on the plate and they were huge. Very moist and tasty and had a nice little salad in the center of the plate. We ordered one glass of wine (it was easily two glasses worth in one) at $ 8 it was a steal. She had the beef in wine sauce with mushrooms and I had the chicken with ham and cheese. Both of us had the brown rice and beans. Again, very nice size portions and the food was fresh and delicious. After that it was time for desert and coffee. I had a coffee with a banana crêpe flambé’ and she had the tiramisu. The bill was $ 112 with the tax minus $ 100 for the Groupon and then the tip. Overall, the food is 4.5 stars. The only downside (not a big deal for us but noticeable) is the old décor. When you walk in the front door, the vestibule has cracked tiles and looks really worn. Walking inside to the dining room, it has faded red carpet on the walls and the floor carpet was well worn. So if you want great food and reasonable prices, get the Groupon and have at it. The staff was very pleasant and they say the weekends are crazy packed with the tango dancers and all. BTW, by 930pm we were still the only customers there but I’ll give them a pass because it’s almost New Year’s Eve.

Waited 1.5 hours to be served a raw, fatty steak.
Others had their meat cooked properly but mine was room temperature about a third fat and a grossly undercooked. If alone I would have walked out but I was with a large party so I just ate the bread. It’s so understaffed that I couldn’t get a waiter to address the issues until everyone else was finished and it was too last too correct it. Stay away.

Ok. This is a tough one but I’m going for the 5 stars. It hit a home run in food and service. First we came here on a groupon and were a bit scared when we saw the exterior and main entrance. The only bad aspect of the place is decoration but after living in South America for 2 years it reminds me of the old salsa and wedding halls down there. So the decoration which is slightly tacky actually feels pretty authentic from my memories. I managed to keep an open mind. We came during lunch and the place was empty. Seems like more of a weekend dinner place. Now for the 5 stars. The service was great. The food was excellent. We had the camaranos alajillo which came in a garlic sauce with a light citrus flavor. Really excellent. I ordered the parrillada mixta. Great meat and sausage. The morcilla brings me back. My partner got the bife steak and was very happy. We had a few beers and a margarita and a sangria. We spend over 2 hours eating and still had to take home a lot of leftovers. With the 100 dollar groupon we only paid 30 dollars at the end. Very very reasonable. A fantastic meal for what we paid. This place is worth a visit even without the groupon.

What a pleasant surprise! This place is for people who love music. Very warm atmosphere.
We really enjoyed the food, the steaks and the dancing. The owners stop by each table to meet and greet the guests.
Great for family gatherings.

Had a blast time here on Saturday night with my friends! Enjoyed the food and live music /​dance. It’s worth coming here for dinning with great performances and quality food and services.

Food was not good. Me and my wife struggled to get our waitresses attention who only gave us attitude in return. The staff was rude altogether. The only highlight were the dancers, but this was just a distraction to the ultra rude and poor service and the sad state of the menu.

Beware!!! Turn around and go to McDonald’s instead. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the way they upkeep the place and how sanitary it is. Before you come in its filthy and dark. Once you come in, it looks like a cheesy catering hall turn restaurant but should be closed down.
The glass cups used for beverages were dirty and had Xmas trees on them while the others were mismatched with the rest.
The food was obviously frozen and microwaved while my mashpotatos were boxed. The prices were also high for fake cheap food.
We actually saw the wine list which included bottles for $ 40 and up and saw the waiter leave to buy bottles at the liquor store that cost $ 8 and sell it for $ 40+
Please guys, skip this place. The food is horrid and this is a waste of your time and money. There’s nothing Argentinian about this hellhole.

The food is great and service is decent.
The fried calamari was lightly battered and delicious. Empanadas were a little greasy but the churrasco and the mixed grill were very tasty!!!
My bf and I have some leftovers that we are definitely looking forward to. Oh and the sangria was yummy!
Everyone is nice! Good atmosphere!
