CAUTIONWHENTRAVELINGFORBUSINESS: do not book here unless you talk to them directly or book through Hilton Honors. I booked using a travel site. I really didn’t pay much attention. When it came to checking out, the hotel could not provide a receipt. They couldn’t tell me who I booked with NOR the rate I paid! Personally I won’t stay here again on principal; they couldn’t have cared less that I travel professionally and not being provided a receipt at check out messes with my expense reporting. There’s a ton of rooms on 51 … just check TripAdvisor, Travelocity, Orbitz, … you know; the places where you get plane tickets, rental cars, hotel rooms all in one fell swoop/bundled. When booking business travel arrangements, who has time to jump to Hilton just to book a room? If you do, you’re not busy enough or productive enough. You’re FIRED. :-)

We stayed in this hotel a year ago and had a great experience. I was so disappointed by this stay. There were two staff members at the desk when we arrived, the one who checked us in was very friendly. The other one ignores everyone and did not make eye contact with anyone or greet anyone, which is one of my pet peeves when it comes to customer service type jobs. I think she must have been the one who answered the phone when I called from the room to inquire about a nearby movie theater and she gave me sharp one word answers, like I was inconveniencing her. Isn’t that part of her job? I asked her if the movie theater was decent and she told me yes. It was the worst movie theater I have ever been in. Later, when I got into the bed, I immediately felt things scratching me. Closer observation revealed dark fuzzes at the foot of the bed, like someone had slept in their dark socks before me. I also found what looked to be cracker crumbs in the middle of the bed. I know this is gross, but I was exhausted and couldn’t process what I had found. I just fell asleep. The next morning, I was thoroughly grossed out. We were checking out, so the hotel didn’t have the opportunity to live up to their 100% satisfaction guarantee. On the other hand, I shouldn’t have to even have a conversation with them about changing the sheets between guests, should I? I will mention that the breakfast was tasty and the kitchen employee was very courteous and kept up with cleaning the tables during a busy time of breakfast.

We were at this hotel this past weekend for a Cousin’s wedding. Our family checked up in for us since we would be arriving late evening. We received our keys to our room, #220. We went up to our room, with three kids in tow and put the key in the room and opened the door. To our surprise we were welcomed by a half naked Grandma in our room!!! They checked someone else into our room that we were checked into!!! Drag the kids and luggage back downstairs for the woman at the front desk to try to figure out what was going on, during that process she proceed to help other guests check into the hotel and kept us waiting. We got a measly apology and gave us keys to room 213, which was the room the naked grandma was supposed to be in. We get upstairs, I am nervous to open the door to another half naked person in the room. No naked person this time, just got slapped in the face with a horrid pungent smell of CURRY… great… my eye start to water as we walk into the room. We call to complain and they housekeeper brings us air freshener, air freshener wont do anything for this place, it needs an ozone machine and a bomb. The housekeeper decided to leave us with the bottom to help us get through the night. There saying is Our Suite Assurance Guarantee ensures 100% guest satisfaction with the suite & the service provided during their stay, they will make it right or its free” Well they did not make it right what so ever and did not comp our room. there guarantee is false, and now I have to try to explain to my 3 year old why she saw a half naked woman in our room. Thank you Homewood for the worst experience at a hotel that I ever had the un-pleasurable of staying at.

Stayed at the Homewood for about 6 months while in the area for work. Fantastic place and staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Just be sure to book as far ahead as possible as it’s quite popular!

Enjoyed my stay in the brand new section. Seemed it was the best find near Decatur for sure! Only wish I had noticed the nice cruiser bikes before I was already heading out.

This is a typical Homewood suites, but is also the nicest place to stay in Decatur. It’s located on route 51 near a shopping mall and several chain restaurants. Check-In: easy. Desk staff was nice and friendly. She also called my room about 10 minutes after I checked in to make sure that I didn’t need anything else. Room: Clean and comfortable. Water pressure is great but the hair dryer needs extra power. Give yourself an extra 5 – 10 minutes if you need to dry your hair. Breakfast & evening reception: typical homewood breakfast and evening reception. Merlot and chardonnay available in the evening along with bud light and michelob amber bock draft. Parking: free surface parking. Gym: relatively small(a couple of elipticals and treadmills) but they do have free weights. open 24⁄7. Pool closes at midnight.

My husband is a Decatur native and said this was the nicest place to stay, and he was right. The lobby is very cozy with lots of large comfy couches and chairs to lounge. There is an extensive continental breakfast served daily with waffles, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, Canadian bacon, fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, breads and pastries, juices, and coffee. They also serve dinner Monday through Thursday, but we stayed over the weekend and didn’t get to enjoy that. The rooms are spacious and split into two areas. There is a small living room with a sofa bed and TV. In the kitchen there is a full size refrigerator, two flat cook top burners, a full dishwasher, microwave, small sink with disposal, dishes and silverware to use. In the bedroom, the bed was really comfortable and the air conditioner worked well. The bathroom was clean, and they provided Bath and Body Works toiletries. My only gripe would be the closet was small and difficult accessing our bags freely. Also the pack and play crib they provided us with was broken. When we asked for another one, they said they only had(4) cribs and they were all used by other guests. So I slept with my baby on the bed, and my husband had to sleep with my toddler on the sofa bed. Beside that fiasco, it was a pleasant stay, the staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the free hot breakfast was decent, and its close to many restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again when we come back to visit.

Those traveling from out of town for work, make sure you book as far in advance as you can and for consecutive weeks if you are going to be here for awhile. It fills up for a reason. You do not always need a kitchen, but even for this guy who is often loyal to my Marriott properties, this properties amenities and atmosphere is a cut above any other hotel in the area. If you are a frequent traveler and teeter between building your Hilton vs Marriott points and status, here are some of the difference makers: Large/Clean Room — Hilton Breakfast Spread — Hilton Free Dinner and Beer/wine — Hilton Free Snap Fitness facility access — Marriott Microwave, kitchen and full fridge(no stove, just cooktops) — Hilton Price per night — close tie. Location to restaurants — tie. Watch for hotel rate spikes during harvest season(Aug/Sept). All hotels spike and availability is low, hence… be prepared.

Probably one of the nicest hotels in the Decatur/Forsyth area. Rooms/suites are very spacious and if they have no 2 bed availability the suites have a fold out sofa that turns into a large bed. Free breakfast every day and dinner Monday-Thursday. Fitness center, pool, and jacuzzi are all adaquete. We got a great rate, at about $ 112 a night + tax. I highly recommend staying here.

This is clearly the classiest joint in Soy City(or, well, in the Greater Soy City Area). Homewood Suites continues to be a clean, comfortable beacon in a galaxy of indistinguishable mid-tier roadside inns. The presence of a Homewood Suites in Decatur ensures that at least your night’s sleep will not be terrifying. The McDonald’s across the street makes an excellent Egg McMuffin.
