My husband decided to take me to this place on a Friday night. I went in with no expectations but was delighted with the décor, service, food and desserts. My god! The dessert panna cota was heavenly. Miso soup, duck breast, shrimp, miso glazed sea bass, everything was delicious. We loved our server Brandon, and the manager was very nice too! I highly recommend this place and we are going back soon :)

Took my mom and little brother here for a little family bonding night. We made reservations and waited about 10 mins to be seated, no big deal. Once at the table, the waitress came to take our drink order and completely ignored my little brother. We were seated at a table for 4. And so it made sense when she started to clear the setup for the extra seating. But then, she reached over my brother and cleared his plate and silverware as well! We tried to laugh it off, but the girl was clueless. Dinner was good, not great for the price. We ordered a bunch of plates and shared everything family style. We had a couple of their signature drinks, which were very impressive. The mushroom and alcohol seems like a strange combination, but it worked out so well. The house salad was so simple, yet so delicious. Just the right amount of dressing and the right combination of vegetables. The crispy rice and tuna was our favorite. Seabass was also very good, nice and moist. Shrimp Lardo with brussel sprouts was okay, nothing spectacular. And everything else we order was just okay… nothing out of the ordinary. The panacotta desert was something you should try at least once in your life. I wasn’t a big fan of it, but my mom and brother really enjoyed it. The combination of flavors and textures was not doing it for me. $ 200 for the 3 of us to eat out and taste about 9 dishes was not bad. Granted they were little plates, but it still got us full. I’ll be back, maybe for a romantic dinner with my husband.

pretty good place, i dont dine much at the hard rock so i cant compare to the other places but kuro is at least much better than the other Asian place they had before. our waitress was very good even though she told us she was training. she gave good recommendations and could hold a conversation. we had the crispy rice spicy tuna, miso cod, robata baby corn, wagyu beef nigiri, and wagyu tacos. all were very good with the baby corn stealing the show, it was grilled with a sweet miso sauce and parmesan cheese on top. waitress also pointed out that it was feesh baby corn not the canned variety that u get atmost if not all asian restaurants, i actually think this was my first time trying fresh baby corn :/and it did not disappoint. miso cod was good, same type they serve at nobu and the wagyu beed was good quality. all in all, it was a pleasent dinner, but it was just a quick dinner so i didnt have a chance to try some other things that drew my attention. good place for a couple cocktails or beers before hitting the blackjack tables will be back!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to KURO on Sunday night. It was super quiet(this may have to been due to playoff games, we could hear cheers from the casino). I have a feeling it gets packed on normal weekend nights. The server let us know this is a traditional tapas style/multi dish meal called kaiseki. I can only comment on the vegetarian and dessert options(although the fish and sushi dishes looked beautiful)…so here goes! Green Goddess Salad — Large enough to share with up to 4 people. Super tasty shredded cabbage, fresh tomatoes, and crispy rice noodles. The shiso dressing was delicious and refreshing. Corn Kakiage — Corn fritter heaven! Four piping hot fritters, full kernels, nicely seasoned served with a fantastic ginger/soy sauce. I did not want to share, but I guess it was only fair to allow my friends to enjoy the fried goodness too. This made me want to try all of their tempura veggies — I have my eye on the mushrooms or seasonal veggies next time. Wow. Japanese doughnuts — Made to order, with three dips including peanut butter, green tea, and chocolate. The chocolate must have a little cayenne since it has a bit of a kick. Apple Tobanyaki — Their version of an apple cobbler with an amazing little scoop of whisky ice cream on top(along with delicious crumbles and candied pecans). Service was perfect. The food runner explained each item in detail when served, which is always a nice touch. The prices are on the higher side, but considering the quality food, luxurious dining area, and service, I think the value is there. Although we didn’t need it on Sunday, they do accept reservations on their website.

I was in Fort Lauderdale for work and I chose this dinner spot right before we had to fly back home. I am so glad I came here. I am no Jiro(Jiro dreams of sushi), but I would say that I am more familiar with the culture than most and I’m definitely a sushi foodie. I’m that person that orders traditional nigiri(you know, just the«fish on rice». The quality of the food from this restaurant is impeccable. There are only a few select places I have eaten where I’ve gotten such high quality of fish served. I have been to Uchi(located in Austin, TX), and Kuro blows it out of the water. We ordered the pepper hamachi, tuna crispy rice, chilean sea bass miso, Kuro seared tuna nigiri, Kuro wagyu nigiri to share. I ordered myself a piece of the otoro, hamachi, and uni nigiri. Pepper hamachi: the color of the hamachi(yellowtail) showed how fresh this fish was. It was so buttery and the flavors accompanying this dish was so well balanced. Tuna Crispy rice: topped with Osetra caviar… I have never had osetra caviar before but this was a pretty good combination. Wasn’t my favorite dish of the night, but it was really good. Chilean sea bass miso: One of my favorites. This was perfectly cooked and just melted in your mouth. Seasoned perfectly and buttery. It comes with pickled lotus and it is so refreshing. a great palate cleanser. MUSTHAVE! Kuro seared tuna nigiri: another MUSTHAVE. the«Kuro style nigiri» do not need any soy sauce at all, they are already ready for tasting. The truffle sauce on this was just icing on the cake… This was one of my favorite dishes and the flavors just married everywhere. I didn’t even need to chew as I took a bite. Kuro wagyu nigiri: not a favorite, but still a great tasting dish and would order again. Nigiri: Each of the nigiri pieces I ordered tasted like the fish jumped out of the ocean and landed on my plate. The otoro was literally the fattiest otoro I have ever eaten. I will say this place has such great quality and freshness in the sushi they serve. Service: GREAT service. The service is very attentive and accommodating. They made sure each dish served was to our liking. Our glasses were never empty and our server helped us order a small bottle of Sake. We got the Dassai 50 which was delicious! If I’m ever back in Ft Lauderdale again, this is definitely one of my pit stops.

Almost or maybe even better than Zuma. That’s all. Just kidding, I have more to say: the service was excellent. The waitress asked about how much per person we would like to pay(we said $ 80) and they just brought delicious plates, a great variety from meats to sushi, sashimi and even a salad… it was great! Will definitely go back.

Great ambiance. Our table had the pool view. However, the food was pricey and just ok. I had the Shrimp Tempura sushi and it was ok, not bad but not the best I’ve had.

You can get some of the best sushi in south Florida here at Kuro, but the restaurant specializes in a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner called ‘Kaiseki’. You can either come in and order whatever you’d like from the menu or you can have your server create the meal for you based off of a few questions they’ll ask you. It was our first time here so we decided to go all out and let our server make the selections for us and we were not disappointed. It’s been almost a week since my meal at Kuro and my fiancé and I are still talking about it, it’s that amazing! Cocktails($ 13 each) are broken down into categories — sweet, sour, umami, salty and bitter. Even though I found that quite useful(as I usually go with sweet drinks), it’s also helpful to speak with your server to get a better idea of the drink. I went with the Kyu as I love lemongrass, pineapple and lime. The drink was very refreshing and well balanced, definitely not overly sweet. My fiancé had the Kuro which he liked very much due to it’s underlying licorice flavor. If you’re interested in sakes, Kuro has a list of over 30 bottles you can order all ranging in price and volume size. The food… oh the food! I don’t even know where to begin, it’s all so WONDERFUL. I won’t go over every item we enjoyed but a few of our favorites were: Tuna Crispy Rice — I don’t know how they do it, but the rice has just the right amount of crisp to it that goes well with the tuna and caviar. Beef Negima — Juicy and full of flavor with a bit of a charcoal smoke. Chilean Seabass Miso — Oh how this melts in your mouth with such savoriness. The pickled lotus roots are also a nice addition that can be eaten with the fish or alone to refresh and cleanse the palate. Hokkaido Scallop Sashimi — Beautifully presented tid bits of raw scallop. Since they’re raw they have a more refreshing taste, plus the yuzu jelly adds a nice tang. Seared Salmon and Tuna Nigiri — Hands down the best nigiri I’ve had maybe ever. It just melted in my mouth. Skip the rolls at Kuro and go for the nigiri or sashimi. The restaurant is beautiful with great ambiance. The staff are knowledgeable, patient and ready to answer any questions you may have. The only minor drawback to the restaurant is that a slight cigarette smell seeps into the place from the rest of the casino. Otherwise… yes this is a pricey place for a meal but it is definitely worth it. I can’t wait to come back again.

This was the most epic meal that I’ve ever had. This place is seriously a «foodie» dream world. Every single dish had so much thought and care put into it. The flavors in every dish blend perfectly. The plating is just plain fantastic. Not to mention, the server was extremely friendly and helpful. Though, we declined her offer to pick our food for us, we appreciated all of her help with the menu. We started with the Hamachi Pepper Sashimi. The presentation was fantastic, with delicately placed ingredients, this was a great way to start the meal. Next, we tried the famous, Hokkaido Scallop Sashimi with yuzu jelly, young ginger and sea salt. I have never had uncooked scallops. But, I had heard great things about this dish, so trying it was a must. Again the presentation was without parallel. The first bite was a smörgåsbord of citrus, ginger and a hint of flavor from the scallops. The best part of this dish was the texture of the scallops, which were soft, yet my teeth cut through it like a knife without even the slightest chewiness. Equally extraordinary was our third dish, the Corn«Mekishiko,» with parmesan, ichimi spice, and roasted garlic aioli. This was such a uniquely interesting dish. It may have been one of my favorites. Fourth, we had the Tempura Clams, with«Japanese 12 spice,» and roasted garlic aioli. These were the best fried clams that I’ve ever had. The dish was a combination of New England style fried clams and Asian style tempura. Then came our orders from the Robata Charcoal Grill section of the menu. This started with Beef Negima, with ribeye, scallions, and yakitori glaze. This was my favorite item of the night. The ribeye was carefully wrapped around each scallion with the glaze inside of the scallions. Second from this section was the Duck Breast. This was served with apricot, karashi mustard, and shiso. The preparation of this item was very efficient at removing the otherwise slightly gamy taste of duck. I know it sounds like we had a full meal already, but believe it or not, those were the appetizers! For our first entrée, we had the Pork Belly Tonkatsu with apple-shiso, and tonkatsu sauce. These were fried carefully so that each piece melted in your mouth. The sauce was perfect for the pork, and because of the heaviness of the dish, it thoughtfully came with a side of spring rolls. Our second entrée was the Chilean Seabass Miso with pickled lotus root, and shiro miso. This may have been the best fish I’ve ever had. It was light, tender, and juicy. The seasoning was just right and accentuated the good qualities of the fish’s flavor. For our final entrée, we had the Wasabi Tenderloin with spinach ohitashi, and wasabi-sesame. The presentation with this dish was stunning. Almost as stunning as the ease of cutting through the meat. It was exceptionally tender and flavorful. The spinach, honestly, wasn’t great, but it looked cool! Then, from the Kuro Nigiri section of the menu, we had the House Smoked Trout with shiso yuzu kosho aioli. Our waitress thoughtfully explained that these dishes are typically served near the end of a meal in Japan because the vinegar soaked rice helps to aid in digestion. This was the only suggestion as of that point in the meal that we relied on the waitress for. It was so good that it made us second guess not letting her create the meal for us as she suggested. But, I have no regrets! Finally for dessert we had the special of the night of Green Tea Japanese Donuts. They were tangy, and sweet, and mouth watering. We also had the Apple Tobanyaki, which was recommended to us by the waitress. And what do you know, she was right again! It was a hit for both of us. To complement the dessert, I had an espresso and Elizabeth, my fiancée, had a green tea. The espresso was good, and Elizabeth said the green tea, was, well, green tea. Hah! This place is seriously one of the best restaurants that I’ve been to in the area. If the price tag wasn’t so hefty, I’d eat here every night. This is the kind of restaurant that makes me want to change my major to finance and become a millionaire just so I can move into the hotel and eat every meal here. Just kidding! But not really.

The wait is worth it. Love this place. made reservations at 830pm and was seated about 20 – 25 minutes later. Great upbeat atmosphere and very knowledgable servers. The group sharing allowed us to try several small dishes. We tried about 5 which ranged from beef waygu to kuru california. Surprising, we loved them all. Very fresh food with lots of flavor. I will be coming back!

To add to my list of beloved foods here: Koji lamb: Tender, juicy and not gamey at all. The blueberry glaze really takes away the gamey taste of the lamb which was cooked nicely pink in the center. The cauliflower purée on the side is very good too but the pickled veggies really help cleanse your palette. The anago(salt water eel) sashimi is delicious! Different from the typical unagi eel, the anago is not topped with eel sauce and isn’t charred on the edges. It’s soft and we’ll flavored, slightly sweeter taste. The Saba(mackerel) Nigiri was really good, salty and tastes so fresh. The Otoro just melts away in your mouth. So so delicious. The Tako(octopus) was thick. The duck breast skewers were a bit too gamey for me. The mushroom katsuo is good if you mix the mushrooms with the arugula. But without the bitterness of the veggies, the mushrooms themselves are a bit too flavorful cause the sauce is so salty. The apple tobanyaki is amazing. The 12 year aged whiskey ice cream was good to the last drop. The hit apple and mochi pieces was perfect!

When someone suggests visiting the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for any reason, my usual answer is «No, thanks.» I don’t gamble, but I’ve dined at most of the restaurants there, been to the Improv, attended concerts, and even stayed at the hotel for a weekend staycation. No, no, no, and no. I’ve tried and it’s just not my thing. How is it then, I’ve now willingly visited three times in the last couple of months? Kuro, that’s why. As the elevator doors open into the hotel, that all too familiar smell always gets me. Cigarettes: one of the main reasons I dislike visiting this venue. During my first visit, I did my best to ignore it as I briskly walked towards the restaurant. I couldn’t get there fast enough. I checked in with the hostess who immediately sat us in a booth, right by the wide open entrance. Of course she did. Now I would feel as if I was still in the hotel lobby. I started to say something about it, but then I looked towards the bar area located directly in front of us. A huge(and apparently hypnotizing) chandelier caught my eye. Perhaps it wouldn’t be so bad(especially after some wine), I thought, and let it go. It wasn’t just the chandelier. The design team truly went all out when working on this space. Kuro has managed to take a monochromatic palette to exciting levels. Browns, tans, and off-whites all impressively coexist with dramatic textures and metal accents everywhere. I wasn’t there for looks, though. Service began immediately after we sat. My husband and I ordered a couple of appetizers and those came out surprisingly fast. One bite and I was hooked. Just like that. What cigarette smell? I’m guessing I got used to it after a while there? How does that even happen? I couldn’t believe just how good the majority of these dishes were. Not only good, but up to par with Zuma and Nobu(a couple of my other favorites). That first captivating bite? The TOROTARTAR: so smooth with creamy avocado and spicy miso. Dinner had only just begun, but I already wanted more. Next came the SEAREDHAMACHI and the WAGYUNIGIRI. All I did during the days following this dinner was think about these in the same way one rehashes an incredible first date. Three visits later and I’ve confirmed the nigiri at Kuro as my favorite, even over the entrees. However, given the smaller than usual portions of most items, this preference always costs me when I have to double up on orders. This girl can eat. I haven’t yet tried most of their rolls, but I really enjoyed the HHOUSESPECIALMAKI. Clearly, one of the more mainstream dishes on the menu: salmon, white fish, and tuna wrapped in cucumber. Still, it’s pretty damn good. The WAGYUTACOS, also addicting, pack a lot of flavor in while the Sea Bass Nori skewers continue to move up the ranks as one of my preferred apps. Perhaps the most underwhelming course from all I’ve tried has been the GREENGODDESSSALAD: not enough dressing and noodles overkill. Pass. One strike out of a dozen home-runs isn’t bad, right? Savory and just sweet enough, the star entrée at Kuro is the CHILEANSEABASSMISO. I can only compare it to the one I already love at Makoto. Other entrees worth a mention are the RIBEYEMISO with its shiso dressing(I wanted to put that on everything) and the KOJILAMB with its accompanying, glorious kabocha croquette. Not to be missed, the CHOCOLATEHAZELNUTBAR offers a little bit of crunch off the sesame brittle and a whole lot of chocolate-spiced ganache. A must. The JAPANESEDOUGHNUTS are served with three sauces: peanut butter, matcha anglaise, and chocolate ganache… but I only have love for the peanut butter one. The doughnuts are hot, soft, and yet still doughy enough to dip into the sauces. A dream. Lastly, I love how Kuro’s American COFFEE(by Lavazza) always arrives still sporting a bit of natural crema on top. Simple, yet rarely seen on most other restaurant coffee pours. Service is never overly personal, but it works. The Kuro army of staff timely switches out our plates, silverware(with each course) and refills our glasses. Should you want to bring your wine in, there’s a $ 30.00 corkage fee. If not, indulge on any of their terrific cocktails. The sweet Ni and sour Jyu(each representing a Japanese number and«phonetically fun to say» as per Kuro) are great options. If sake is your thing, then order the Wakatake Onikoroshi«Demon Slayer” — Shizuoka. I’ve been known to order my very own bottle. ;) Looking back at my first visit, I remember how we felt as we sat there at the end of dinner. Content and in silence, we both thought the very same thing; Kuro rocked and we could not wait to return. Given my ongoing-but-now-mostly-extinct Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino aversion, it’s safe to say I will drive to this restaurant no matter where they are located. The highly experienced culinary group of Chefs Becker & Hiyakawa leads Kuro to their current Broward County takeover. Congratulations Kuro, you are killin’ it!

Lest just start by saying I’m not a big fan of Japanese food but boy! This is really good! First the concept of small dishes to try out different flavors is what I liked the most! Plates increased in size as dinner goes on! The waitress was very attentive and prompt We had cucumber salad, tuna crispy rice, delicious! Tuna tartar was very good but too small! The mushroom salad was very good My favorite the Salmon cartoccio and the veggie Tempura! Thank you Tammy for helping us choosing the food! It was great! Alfredo and Elisa

From the moment I called to make the reservation the professionalism began with Kim. We were promptly greeted upon arrival and quickly sat in a stellar booth. Excellent«background» music that allowed for easy conversation. The interior design was impressive. Tammy the server did a phenomenal job in describing menu and recommended how to enjoy it best, course by course. Dishes are meant to be shared by two although portions are small. Usually I would complain but the portions enabled us to enjoy more dishes and sublime tastes. Chilled: Tuna Tataki $ 19. Smoky, spicy, delicious! Salad: Cucumber Sunomono $ 9, the presentation was just as good as the texture and flavor. Mix it up before eating. Robata Charcoal grill(two pieces): Beef Negima $ 11, this beef was so tender it basically melted in our mouth. Flavor… the best! Dessert: a pecan, hot apple tort with ice cream… perfect. There was so many more items on the menu we did not get to but certainly will next time. There will be many times for us, as this now my favorite restaurant. Wine selection was vast. We chose a $ 44 bottle of Frogs leap, Sauvignon Blanc. Happy to recommend! Enjoy.

My husband and I, along with another couple, came to Kuro for the first time this weekend. We chose to sit at a table within the bar area. We loved the DJ, décor, and ambiance of the restaurant. Our server, along with all other staff that helped us during our dinner, were very friendly, accommodating, and knew the menu well. I was very happy that, after telling the server(I wish I could remember her name) that I loved jalapeño cocktails, she said the bartender could make me something off the menu. After asking my preferences, she returned with a pineapple/tequila/jalapeño creation that was amazing! All 4 of us at the table think it should be added to the regular cocktail menu. I ended up having 2 :) Everything we ordered was very good and was presented well. I personally enjoyed the duck robata, edamame, salmon cartoccio, and a sushi roll(can’t remember the name). There were other items at the table I didn’t try, but everyone enjoyed what they ordered. So, why the 3 stars? I had also ordered the Shrimp Lardo(I will add a photo of the menu with the description of the dish). On the menu, it reads«crispy Brussels sprouts, pear salsa, soy vinaigrette». That sounded right up my alley. When it was served, they guy who brought it to the table gave a brief description of it as he put it on the table. We were near the DJ, so it was a little loud(not complaining, we loved it) but I thought he said something that caught my ear, but I wasn’t sure what he said. I waited for our waitress to come by, and asked her if there was any pork in the dish, and she said YES. SMH, really!!! I do not eat pork(for personal reasons) and many other people don’t eat it for religious reasons. It is very concerning to me that such a nice, upscale restaurant would not disclose that on the menu. That is a huge deal to me, and for that reason alone, this is not a 5 star review. It won’t prevent me from coming back, but now I’ll have to ask about every item before ordering it. Or even better, hopefully Kuro will update its menu so diners can order appropriately.
