New River Grill & Pizza

We just had dinner at the New River Grill & Pizza! What a great place!
First let me say, «Jamie», our waitperson was the BOMB! Fun, cute, knowledgable, and really made the dining so enjoyable.
We had the Mozzarella Caprese and Vine Ripe Bruschetta for starters. Both perfect. Then Blackened Shrimp Pasta and Penne Ala Vodka. Again, excellent. No more room in the tummy, so ordered the Bananas Foster Chimichanga to go.
There is so much to choose from, we will have to go back. Only beer and wine, but great choice of beers and the wine was filled to the top. That’s a plus in my book!

Buyer beware is all I can say.
I order from this place because it’s very close by and the food is fairly good as a hangover cure. However, I don’t think I will be spending my money here again because they mess up my order ⁸⁄₁₀ times.
There is always an item missing or they completely send the wrong thing. It’s extremely annoying and they don’t really seem to care. Yes, they usually have something else sent over to cure the error, but how about trying not to mess it up every single time? And I would appreciate less attitude when I’m trying to get what I actually paid for

We have ordered from this place three times now, and the food always arrived fast, and everything we got was delicious. Totally fantastic!!! We love this place! The four cheese grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup was amazing!

This place is ok for something quick and easy. Delivery Is pretty fast, but then again I love down the block. The pizza is very good for Florida. Everything else isn’t so great, and they’re very over priced.

The food felt a bit unseasoned. I had the calzone which was good but the flour lacked salt when was mixed and the marinara sauce really was not that great, very watery.
My friend got a naan sandwich and was very good.

Great Place to dine in plus the delivery service is always on point. Awesome staff great owner. The Ranch Chicken Pizza is a must try. Our thanks to Randy from the Gainza Law Group.

Garlic rolls were cold. when i asked for warm ones they brought back rolls that were burnt. I ordered the Caribbean calarmi which is supposed to be calamari cooked with a spicy kick. What was brought was plain calamari. When I inquired what the difference was they told me they just sprinkle a little seasoning over the top — which they did and it made no difference. the waitstaff was very nice and apologetic for the mistakes. they reduced the bill. I like the place, but i hope the improve their kitchen staff.
My daughter enjoyed the greek salad.

Got delivery this past weekend. Medium pie with pepperoni, sausage and green peppers and a 6 piece garlic rolls. Everything was hot and fresh. Great ingredients. Driver delivered to my door exactly when they said. Just wished they had let the pizza stay in about 2 minutes longer. Will definitely visit again when in Ft.Lauderdale.

I had always passed this place when I drove into downtown FLL and wondered how it was. So, a few nights ago, my girlfriend and I stopped in and had dinner.
Not impressed. The service was ok, nothing bad but nothing good. Had to ask for a refill on my tea and my GF’s water twice. We ordered a gluten free pizza, and were never told it was actually a really small pizza. We had asked if there was any difference besides the price and if it was a reasonable size to share, and the reply was «no difference it’s enough». this tells me the gluten free dough is pre made and shipped in because why wouldnt you want to have size options for people who need to eat GF (my girlfriend has celiac)? I doubt I’d go back to try anything else. I found the prices to be a little high for such mediocre food.

I got here about 2:50 pm. The place was completely empty. It took about 25 minutes to get my order of Four cheese grilled cheese added bacon, tomato bisque, and onion rings. Everything was delicious! That was a really long time to wait for the food since there were bio other customers in the restaurant however was very pleased with my food.
I also order zeppoli to go. Looks and smells delicious.

So, I was just told by Frank, the manager, that EVERY time I order I call and complain. ONE — I don’t call and complain until something is WRONG with my food that I have Paid for. TWO — that Is Not the way you speak to your customer. I received Black French Fries and dry boneless wings. Bad Customer Service

This rating is just for the wings and pot stickers, which is all we had. Loved the huge menu selection though. Pot stickers were great, wings did not disappoint either. We got two orders of 20 wings each delivered to the guest house where we were staying, which ended up lasting us for three sittings… With the potstickers, delivery and tip it was $ 75 plus so I would not say an amazing deal but no regrets. Would order from them again and would like to explore some of their other choices.

I went on a Sunday for lunch. They accept Primecard and the current deal is 50% off. There was only one other table seated when we were there. no one came in for carryout… the place was not busy. There is parking in the lot behind the building.
We had a small pizza with 4 toppings and it was $ 18. We would have been better off ordering one of the specialty pizzas off the menu instead of creating our own.
We ordered mushroom (fresh), green peppers, caramelized onion and meatball. The meatball was thinly shaved and minimal. The dough had fork marks on it like it came premade and they just top it and cook it. We didn’t notice the pizza maker rolling out fresh dough.
The place is clean and has many indoor tables. No outdoor seating available. It is an open kitchen. Staff was friendly. With the ½ price primecard deal it is okay. I wouldn’t want to pay full price. There are many other pizza places with better tasting pizzas.

I started coming here about 2 years ago when my office moved nearby. Their lunches were always quite tasty. I can’t believe I hadn’t written a review previously. I finally got into the habitat of bringing my lunch to work, trying to eat a bit healthier. However, I hadn’t made my lunches for the week of Christmas since I was going to be leaving town for the holidays. So on the Monday before Christmas, I headed back to «old reliable» for lunch.
Boy, how the place has changed! The menu has changed drastically! While there’s still an Italian slant, they’ve really moved to a much more diverse menu… potstickers, naan, tacos? Really? Also, apparently they were short-​staffed that day and there was only one waitress working. Not surprisingly, the service was sloooow. Near the end of our meal, two biker dudes came in and apparently the waitress was completely enthralled with them. She basically sat down at their table to take their order and ended up like she was having a date with them! After trying to get her attention a couple of times, I ended up going up to the computer to pay the check.
But on to the food. It’s taken me this long from the experience to write this review. I ordered the 4-​cheese grilled cheese with tomato bisque and a side of fries. The tomato bisque never arrived. When the food arrived, I asked about the soup, I got an «oh», assuming she’d return at some point with the bisque. I eventually gave up on the soup. Then…
I want to make something clear here — I get annoyed at a number of reviews on Unilocal where it’s obvious the reviewer clearly had some sort of issue and throws out the «it made me sick» statement. And, it’s very, very, very rare that I eat anything that does not sit well with me. I just basically never get sick. Except that Monday evening. It was a most turbulent evening. I did not get a wink of sleep the entire night. I did make it in to work the next morning, but had to leave after a couple of hours. Just thinking about that grilled cheese now makes me nauseous… somehow, your body just knows…

Worst service ever do not Oder from them I have never been treated like this I ordered from this place for a year they do not care about their customers drivers are nasty so is customer service never called them never. Food finally arrived and I should be happy ??? Ice cold never ever order from this place never ever this worse and the idiot on the food is the worse Mike?

Mediocre place they definitely are inconsistent with their food and get your orders wrong half the time. Once ordered the meatball parm hero from them it was absolutely horrible it was a shame I threw away food. The pizza is not so bad but once again inconsistent it’s a hit or miss at times. Tree lovers at times is great and at times is soggy who wants soggy pizza. They are open so late but at times not worth what you paid for.

We ate lunch and dinner here today. For lunch we ordered the Greek — grilled chicken, fresh hummus, lettuce, sliced tomato, and red onions, tossed with tsatziki dressing on fly bread — with fries. It was great! For dinner we started with the dip trio — hummus, roasted red pepper feta cheese and tsatziki with homemade flatbread crisps. Then for the main course we had the Greek Village salad. This was wonderful as well. The menu is extensive so it is easy to find something to tickle your palate. We will definitely come back again.

Bleh. This place has really gone downhill. The last time we had a pizza delivered it was completely burnt. We barely ate any of it. I mean we threw away pizza… After that and a few other mediocre experiences we decided to give up on this place for a while.
Well, we gave them a chance again and the food was really bad. The eggplant parm sandwich had barely any cheese and the eggplant was slimy. The salad we ordered had no cheese in it and the ingredients were not very fresh. Totally not worth the money. Done with this place.

I’ve driven by New River a few times and decided to check it out. The interior of the restaurant was a bit none descriptive and no one greeted us for at least 15 minutes. We finally had to flag down a chef to get service. That was a little annoying, but other than that the food was tasty. I had the ahi tuna salad and my friend had the chicken lettuce wraps. The cool thing abut new river is that they do food delivery till 4 am. I will definitely be contacting them on a drunken late night food craving :)

Friendly and helpful staff. We ordered a large 5-​topping pizza which was delish! A staff member recommended pot stickers, also AMAZING! Fair pricing and overall very pleased. We will be back.

Food was never a concern — has always been on point. Was more concerned about order accuracy. Fortunately have given them a couple more tries over the past months and it seems like they’ve made a big effort in this department. Dine-​In is definitely ⁵⁄₅ stars — never had an issue here.
If you want a unique dining experience beyond what you normally get at an Italian/​Pizza restaurant, this is the place to go. They execute many different cuisines very well and take a lot of pride in their product and their business.

BEWARE! They tampered w/​my food! I will never in my life order from this place again! I have had a few issues here in the past, but I figured these things happen. This time was unforgivable! I ordered meals for my boyfriend and I. Part of the order was a side of spaghetti. I received the spaghetti w/​out any sauce. I made it a point to ask for extra parm cheese, but there wasn’t any in my order. I also ordered a side Caesar, but that never made it w/​my order either.
I called back, and POLITELY explained to the manager what had taken place. It was very obvious that he could care less, and even seem annoyed. He also was combative, saying that I should have specified that I wanted sauce on my spaghetti. Who orders sauce-​less spaghetti? He then said my order would be out with the next driver.
I patiently waited for my food for 45 minutes, after already waiting over an hour for my original order. When I finally received the redemption order the spaghetti had red sauce on it, it wasn’t mixed in like it was on my boyfriends order (he order Eggplant parm). His spaghetti sauce was filled with diced tomatoes and onions. Mine was just red sauce thrown on a pile of spaghetti. I have order this in the past, and know for a fact that it comes just as my boyfriend’s did. The spaghetti was also very watery. It looked so gross. I decided to try it, and it tasted like chemicals. I had my boyfriend try it as well, and he agreed that it tasted like chemicals.
I’m sad to say that as a Ft. Lauderdale local who orders out many times a week, I will no longer be giving this poor excuse for a restaurant any business.

I’ll give 3 stars because they are usually consistent with the taste of the food, but can be spotty on getting your order correct. Today’s food was correct, but on my previous order I almost decided not to order again from there. Good food is always good WHEN you receive what you actually ordered. This was the second time I received a wrong order from here. The last wrong order was when I ordered a crispy buffalo chicken wrap with extra buffalo sauce on the side. Instead of the buffalo wrap, I received a grilled chicken cesar wrap WITH buffalo sauce on the side. The worst thing when it comes to food is looking forward to eating something only to taste something completely different when you take a bite. Since it was delivered & was very hungry, I just ate the wrap minus the buffalo sauce. I was not going to go back and forth on the phone, then wait for a new order to be delivered.
So, overall the food is normally consistent taste wise, but CAREFULLY check your order before the driver leaves if delivered.

This place lacks consistency. Last night I ordered grilled salmon for delivery and it was PERFECT, today I ordered the same thing and they completely messed up my order. Not to mention that my salmon was over cooked.
Living 5 minutes away from this place, it’s convenient yet lacks so much more. Inconsistency has been a constant problem I face with this restaurant. Whether the food wasn’t cooked properly on some days or they completely mess up my order on other days.
The only reason I would recommend this restaurant is if you need late night delivery but if you want great food on a consistent basis I recommend any other restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale.

Eggplant parm is good but the last five or six times I’ve ordered the pizza it’s been completely burnt. For over 3 dollars a slice I find this a little ridiculous.

We need more places like this in Lauderdale. Feels like the places up north! Chandra our waitress was honestly the best waitress we have had in this state … I’m not joking !! This place surpassed my expectations! We will be back.

On the corner of SE 7^th Street and South Federal you’ll find the New River Grill & Pizza though our web site seems to have erroneously reversed words to read «Pizza & Grill,» it’s certainly close enough to be identifiable and if you dine here you’ll find the culinary emphasis more on the pizza than on the grill anyway.
I’ve tried a couple of their pizzas, specifically their Mediterranean which came with Kalamata olives, red onion, garlic, gorgonzola and tomatoes, certainly Mediterranean enough, done in a New York style, though unfortunately for me I found out that they don’t have any anchovies available as a topping. As far as pizzas go I found it rather good, in fact better than you’ll find at most places.
Today, however, I had their Philly Cheese Steak which they noted on their menu made with meat imported from Philadelphia. Really? Well, I guess so if they say so, but I will say it was really very good, rich in traditional Philadelphia cheesesteak flavor couple with a particularly good bread and matching up in taste with any of those done by those overly rated but famous Philadelphia cheesesteak joints such as Gino’s or Patrick’s.
The restaurant itself is clean, the seating comfortable and you have a good view of the ever busy pizza kitchen area preparing take outs and deliveries.
The only real downside was the service which to me boarder lined upon the abysmal. The wait staff seems consumed with more things in the kitchen or problems with the computer registers than with customer service. Worse, they’re rather sterile in personality, tend to botch up orders, bring things you didn’t order, and pay little heed to the tables they are serving.
Though I can’t really say I’m a fan of the place or would go out of my way to eat here, I did find the quality and flavor of their foods good enough to go Four Stars.
