Came here for New Years Day since so many places were closed so, we ended up here. The Kimchi soon tofu with pork was a great warm up to the cold. Piping hot, spicy, with a lot of the soft, silken tofu and a good amount of pork as well, usually it’s more of the tofu than the meat, especially since it’s a kimchi soon tofu with pork and not one with pork and tofu. The service here is surprisingly swift and polite, especially since it’s a Korean spot. The fried dumpling appetizer was also good, but came after the entrees. Honestly, not a big surprise. I think that in Korean restaurants that happens a lot, particularly in places like this that specialize in one dish so they probably have huge vats of soon tofu broth and then they can add the additional stuff while the dumplings have to be cooked. All in all, I was pretty pleased with my experience here, and I wish I was small enough to make use of the mini climbing wall they had in the kids’ room.

Always wanted to try this place and were told to try their Lunch Specials. We came for dinner and the Lunch Specials. The restaurant has a nice modern décor and they even a playroom for the little kids. This place gets packed fast so come early for lunch. For Lunch Special, we ordered the Bibambap with a curry tofu, Short Ribs with plain tofu, appetizer — Seafood Pancake. They also give loads of free small appetizers, kimchi, bean sprouts, little fried fish, spicy fish cake and seaweed. Dinner dishes were obviously bigger and no specials. Overall all delicious. The only thing we did not like, the waitresses kept hovering around us which made us, a party of 6, very uncomfortable.

3.7? The concept of this chain that doesn’t feel like a chain: tofu stew at varying levels of spiciness that you choose. Lots of food! You leave satiated. This place seems perpetually busy. We waited about 15 minutes and were promptly greeted by the server. If you get a regular tofu stew, it is $ 11.99. If you want the stew plus something else it is upwards of $ 15.99. I ordered the dumpling soondubu and it came with about 4 dumplings in a hot soup with tofu, scallions and a little bit of meat. You crack a raw egg on top. I liked the taste of the dumplings and they had enough filling. On top of whatever you order, you get a bunch of apps: a dried fish, macaroni dish, kimchi, dried shrimp and pickles. I suppose this helps to cleanse the palate from your stew. We ordered the pancake and it had veggies like zucchini and green onion and squid. The portions for the jap chae dup bap jeongsik was huge with a tofu soup, lots of rice and tasty stir fried noodles. The dolsot bibimbap was also big and looked yummy with a rice bowl filled with bulgogi etc. If you like meat, you should go for that or the bulgogi jeongsik, which came with a pot of meat and noodles at the bottom. It was hard to understand the servers because it was quite loud and there was a language barrier. She also disappeared for awhile. But it is not like you are looking for five-star service anyway at a place like this. They have a little playroom for kids which is a nice feature for families. The décor is pretty modern. The parking lot kind of stinks because it’s a plaza for other places and it’s often hard to find a spot especially around meal times. Overall I would come back for some filling korean food. I wouldn’t say it was an out-of-this-world experience though.

Parking lot on the second level in the back, and it’s crowded. Be prepared to wait on a weekend. The appeal — they use organic House-brand tofu. Stop up to the desk, and get your little coaster warning light, and get an idea of when you’ll have a seat. They have a little room just for kids with a climbing wall, TV, and mats on the ground, and a TV connection that goes to a TV outside by the dining area. Bathrooms are 1 urinal, 1 stall on the men’s side. Reasonably clean. Take out? Go to the counter at the back and order/pick up there. I recommend calling ahead. Once seated, quickly with a kid’s plate(plastic) & spoon, fork, and cup w/lid of water. They have a lunch menu in paper on the table — soondubu to the right side and the left are combinations with various side dishes, from la galbi to the nyang myun(cold noodles). Combinations come with either vegetable or beef/seafood tofu soup. No substitutions. I had a plain mushroom soup and others had combination seafood/beef. The ban chan that came out — people love the little yellow croaker fried up– $ 1 for extra ones if you really love it. The kimchi was more sour, less fish flavor, and the pickles came with ice to keep them crisp. The mayo/egg/pasta side dish was not good, but the spicy octopus was ok(could have used more octopus and less sea vegetable. Overall have had a better selection. Tofu soup — lacked flavor. If you didn’t get it spicy, the lack of flavor in the soup compared with other restaurants in the area showed up. The portion, also, smaller than my experience aside. The la galbi side with the soup was eight pieces, pre-cut though they gave you scissors and a small tongs. Rice was a highlight — well cooked and sweet. At the end, they gave a small bowl of the barley tea with rice, but it wasn’t the same as if you had a stone pot of rice(crispy and hot) and then had the tea poured inside. I’ll still end up at SDK down the road, I think, for soondubu, though the fish and other dishes potentially looked good here.

Hits the spot! I was craving a nice, hot bowl of soondubu and this place gave me just that. The variety is nice and there are a lot of specials as well. Looking forward to coming back! Update: I did notice though that they skimp out on meat in both the soups and bibimbapps. Still good nonetheless.

BCD tofu house is my must stop by place whenever we drove through Fort Lee. This area is full of good and authentic Korean restaurants, but this one particularly stands out for the good quality of tofu soup(you can tell form the name ha) and food service(different from Manhattan midtown one, this one even offers a children’s play room and children’s food set; they are very considerate by adding video cameras in the play room so that parents can watch their kids from every corners of the main dining room from the big tvs hanging on the walls!) If you like tofu and seafood, this is a good spot to get healthy set of food. I usually order seafood tofu soup with medium hot level, and sometimes add seafood pancake or stir fried vermicelli with tofu and beef if dining with a group. The first best part is that they offers free small dishes of meat and veggies and a fried fish at first. The fish is well fried crispy outside and super fresh and tender inside, you can even taste the sweetness of the river fish(good sign of freshness). The second best part is a fun part — when the soup arrives still boiling in a hot stone bowl, you need to crack a raw egg into it. I usually stir it so that the egg can be fully cooked and mixed with tofu. The third good part is that the Korean rice coming with the soup is really good — shining and super yummy.(I usually don’t eat rice, but I can finish the whole bowl every time I done out here!). After the tasty soup and rice, they will serve a rice porridge that comforts my stomach after the hot hot soup. The soup is made buying adding hot water to the slightly over cooked residual rice from the hot bowl which cooked the each serving of rice individually. Adding one more point, I personally don’t think they added MSG in the soup, because I don’t feel thirsty as I would when I’m eating food with MSG at all. In short, its authentic Korean food and good service and high food quality restaurant.

No matter what korean restaurant I’m at, I always order their sundubu jigae, and I was not disappointed at BCD Tofu House!(How can you be bad at it if tofu is in your name? :D) Yes, it’s a chain, but I don’t think that’s diminished their quality in any way. Even though my husband and I don’t speak korean, we didn’t have any issues once they realized that was the case! The appetizer dishes are plenty, and they give you the fried fish as well! They will also pour tea into your stone rice bowl after scooping out your rice so you have rice soup at the end. The portions are so generous, especially the lunch deal — that you will end up with extra. The parking lot can get very full but with a lot of circling, you can usually find a spot.

Updating my review The last time I was here, about two weeks ago, I was very disappointed and turned off by the horrible waitress we had. During my last visit there today, with the same group of girlfriends I went with 2 weeks prior, I am pleased to say I had one of the BEST services I’ve ever received while dinning out in a Korean restaurant. Hands down 5 stars! Thank you for the improvement. We were greeted at our table with our nice waitress Jin? She took our order and gave us our appetizers. Before we could even ask for more, she refilled our appetizers as soon as they were done. We also ordered a tofu soup for a friend who was arriving late. By the time she had arrived, the soup had been sitting for 10 minutes. Our waitress and another waiter kindly asked if she would like the soup warmed up. Our waitress and the management were all so kind. After our meals we finished the manager asked if we would like more appetizers. Of course by then we were stuffed. Food is always great here. I am so glad to have returned with such warm greetings and better service.

The place may have been able to be cleaner. There was a red pepper flake on my cup and a lot of fruit flies around my table. One even dove into my nooroongji. However, service was always friendly and food was good, so it was worth it. The soondubu and the side dishes were good.(I always get the seafood soondubu) Though I personally feel as though the BCD back in LA is much better in taste, it was still good to slurp down the warm, savory soup after a long day.

MSG overload. I’ve tried this place few times and I feel like it’s gotten worse how much MSG they put in their food. There are better places around in Palisade park to get your tofu… so save your health and keep away from MSG.

Good chain restaurant for soondubu and galbi. I’m not sure why but someone once told me coming here for galbi was like going to McDonald’s for a steak… Can anyone shed light on this statement? Is it because it’s a chain? I don’t agree, I think the ribs and soups are good. The kimchi selection is good too. The interior is nicely decorated and large. Service is good(I’d never expect friendly service, let’s be real) so I have no complaints. Maybe someone can help me understand what that person meant by what they said.

Ahhhmazing! My family is a frequent customer of the N.Y. Location and this one is just as good, or maybe even better? The food comes out quick and piping hot, I always have to order tofu stew with kalbi and I eat the burnt rice with hot water with it. The kalbi marinade is delicious and the char from the grill imparts great flavor. Finger licking good! And the tofu stew is worth sweating over in the middle of summer heat. Other than these menu items, I can’t really vouch for the rest like the dokbokgi. Bcd is a tofu house, so just eat that ok?

My husband and I came here for lunch this past Saturday around noon. The place got very busy within minutes, yet the staff remained friendly and attentive to the very end of our meal. My seafood soft tofu stew was delicious. It included plump clams, one shrimp and a mussel. My husband ordered the lunch combo of marinated spicy pork+mixed soft tofu stew for just under $ 20. I think I could have just ordered a side of rice instead of ordering my own stew. I thought the portions were pretty generous. They also have a playroom with a live feed playing on the TVs around the restaurant so parents can eat kid-free. Ideal for children ages 4 and up. I would definitely go back!

Better than So Kong Dong — that’s for sure. I’ve been living in Fort Lee for almost a decade now, and was delighted to see a big, new BCD making itself cozy in the nearest strip mall area. We have a Pancake House there which gets totally packed during brunch(esp on the weekends), so if they tell you your wait is an hour, you might want to try BCD — granted, it’s totally different from what you trekked out of your home to get brunch for. Pancakes and tofu don’t mix. Their tofu tastes good and I love their combo meals. I usually get the seafood tofu(normal spice) with the spicy crab combo. Very good! They have a children’s room with a TV monitor of what’s going inside the playroom, so rest assured, eat away without a hitch here, parents! I asked them about how their fried fish is so tiny — they say they actually buy them in large wholesale quantities, just for the purpose of being individual banchans. Their banchan is also far more diverse than So Kong Dong(where there’s only like 2 sides). The price is a bit heftier but hey, paying $ 15 for a hearty meal? Not bad. The service is attentive — the one great thing about Korean restaurants is, you don’t have a set waiter — you can really call any of the waiters to help you.

I came to this restaurant to meet my college buddy and her husband. We came here on a sunny and freezing Saturday afternoon. The parking lot was packed and it was difficult to find a spot, even the parking garage was full. I had to park on one of the side street and hoped I wouldn’t get a parking ticket. This place was very busy, it was busier than most bars in Buffalo during St. Patrick’s day. It seemed to be an interminable wait and people were willing to stand for a table. I thought to myself, this restaurant must be good. The restaurant looked spacious with big windows that brought some light in. I noticed green decorative print on the ceiling perked up the room, with rows of Korean stone bowls as a divider between the dining and waiting area. It was way pass lunch time and all I wanted was FOOD. The menu was interesting, all of the main course came with tofu soup, which can be ordered mild, regular, or spicy. I chose kimchi-beef tofu soup off the lunch special. The soup was deliciously spicy and enjoyable without burning my tongue. My friends ordered sizzling marinated beef off the main course with tofu soup. The beef was well-marinated, the taste of garlic and sweet chili brought a great flavor when eaten with steam rice. We also ordered seafood and green scallion Korean pancake which was tasty. I just wished the pancake wasn’t too thick and a little bit crispier. The portion was unbelievably huge, not to mention the side dish definitely hit the spot. I must say, this was the best Korean food I’ve ever had. Everything about it was great to the last bite. The food was a bit pricey but it was worth every penny. The tea made out of the rice stone bowl was phenomenal. Our server was attentive and patient. We didn’t feel rushed out the door, especially when there were people waiting in line to be seated. Just be careful when you follow the GPS to get to this place, it is so close to the George Washington bridge. Once you miss a turn, it’ll bring you to the bridge and voila! Welcome to New York City! I would gladly come back here, maybe not during the weekend though.

Doesn’t get better than this. NonGMO soybeans used for all their tofu. No MSG? Idk about that… But that’s what they claim. We came straight from a intense workout so we were famished which might be a contributing factor for reason why I thought this place was awesome! Lol We ordered seafood pancake — the texture was amazing. Super chewy and crispy ends. Butttttt they skimp out on the seafood. Mostly scallions. So bummer on that sense. Seafood beef combo soondubu: good. It had clams 1 shrimp and 1 mussel. And then rest thinly sliced beef bits. But the tofu and the broth was great. Kimchi tofu stir fry with thin slices of pork: was AMAZING. Best dish of the meal easily. Side note«KIMCHITEST» if you go to any Korean restaurant, the test to knowing if their food would be good or not is the kimchi test. Try their kimchi side dish. If that tastes good then you know the rest of their food would taste good. It’s like if you master the basics you will only rise from there. But if u can’t get the most essential part of the cuisine right… Then you need to reevaluate sista. I loveeeee the fact that they give you a complimentary fish per person! Ugh that’s the best. I also like that they make their rice in the traditional stone bowls. The rice always tastes better like that. All that for $ 48 bucks. Not bad at all. I will definitely be back for their lunch menu combos to try those kalbi.

Pleasurable experience and tasty food. Overall, friendly service, though, some staff were friendlier than others. I ordered the seafood soondubu which was yummy because the seafood wasn’t overcooked(score!) and the tofu was nice and silky but I have had better(perhaps it was too watery?). The Galbi was delicious! Yum! Tender and well seasoned; just slightly fatty. My favorite parts of the meal though was the fried fish as part of the banchan and the rice soup we were offered at the end(we didn’t order it; not sure if they give it all the time) which reminded me of my childhood! They were also generous with my glass of wine! Place is spacious, clean, trendy(they were playing Pop music), and has an area strictly for kids to play in which was a first! I plan to go back to try other dishes!

The Fort Lee BCD is… okay. Definitely better than So Kong Dong but definitely not the best when compared within its own ranks. When you come to BCD, you come for one thing: soondubu jjigae. Soondubu jigae is the spicy soft tofu soup that usually brings life back into me especially after a late night or a night that was filled with alcohol. It is my go-to hangover cute. The best part of this BCD is the parking lot. With that being said, it lacks what I really want from soonbudu: revitalization. Having to drive here already made it’s stock drop a bit. Not even the live video feed from the children waiting room make up for it(not even if it’s a big kid making a fool out of him/her self). The banchan comes with BCD’s signature fried fish for every diner. for the most part, they are okay. The seafood pancake usually comes out too… thick and doughy. Not as crisp as I prefer. If in Fort Lee, come here. If in NY, go to KTown.
