The Cottage Beach Bar and Grill

This is a great place to check out some live music and have a drink. We had so much fun dancing the night away here a few weeks ago. I can’t speak to the food because we didn’t eat but we definitely had a fun time. If you are in the area, stop by and check this place out!

Had a good time at The Cottage. Had a feel like a local hangout rather than a tourist attraction, which was nice. Bartenders were cool an they had live music. Didn’t have dinner, but ordered Beach Bread off their late night menu. It wasn’t anything spectacular but hit the spot. Overall, a pretty cool place.

Usually this place very nice and food good… service on the other hand terrible!!! THE most unfriendly waitress on the beach not sure if she is the manager but on several occasions when I have been there she offends guests that is paying customers and chases them away with her pissy attitude. She is tall and very thin works just about every day out on the beach as a waitress at the cottage she needs a lesson in courtesy, management, food service, and how you treat people in general so that’s all I really have to say about this waitress bad for business!

Cool location, great security, bartender with the dreads was slow with a bad attitude but the other one was very nice. She didn’t smile once and forgot to get me the drink I ordered.

I only visited the bar, came in from the beach. The service was okay nothing special. I will return.

One of the best views on fort myers beach. Relaxed. With 80s music on the radio. They have tables with umbrellas on the beach and a porch patio that is, lifted 20 feet. Food and service average. I had the crab cake. It was good, but it is only 1. With fries & coleslaw. Was $ 14.95 plus $ 5 for fries & slaw added. Drink prices are good… a 7 up & vodka was $ 3.75. I was not rushed to leave even though it began to get busy around 2pm… and I enjoyed the view.

The view from the restaurant is phenomenal and the food is pretty average (6−7÷10), nothing to necessarily rave about.
The service though was the main problem. Our waitress came out with our order, which was messed up, and started listing off excuses for why it was wrong, but not her fault. She said she did everything correctly and fully blamed it on the kitchen. Then after she was done throwing the kitchen under the bus, she put the messed up order in front of us. Seriously?! I have been a server myself and know that if the kitchen makes an order wrong, you send it back NOT give it to the paying customers. She also didn’t give us any options to fix the mistake. A discount, offer to remake, anything would’ve been better than nothing at all. This might have been justified if it was busy in the restaurant, but it was a Monday morning. There was only one other table and they came in towards the end of our meal.
Overall, I know restaurants have their «bad apples» when it comes to servers, but I probably wouldn’t give this place another chance since the food wasn’t anything out of the ordinary either.

One star star for being on the beach. Here are the facts. Food was medium. It took 1 hour and 25 minutes to get burgers and tacos. Horrible service, even though she was nice. Understaffed, only one server for two restaurants. Unapologetic until we complained after over an hour of waiting. Do not go here, go across the street or ANYWHERE else!

We accidently walked towards the wrong door, which is also in front of a seating area, it was more like walking into a dark alley and getting mugged, Horrible, We knew that we were in the wrong area and proceeded to walk towards the correct door, Server named Brandy was obviously intoxicated instigated a fight, exclaiming that her friend could beat my gf’s a**, I dont know if we brushed up against them or not, it is spring break and PACKED!!, we continued to walk and her friend grabbed me in the crotch! instead of calling out to security or the Gentlemen bartender inside, she proceeded to tell me it wasn’t a big deal Her Friend Grabbed my genitals, after I exclaimed what the Ef, I turned around, Brandy proceeded to say her friend did nothing wrong… This was so unprofessional, get security, get a manager!, immediately after I said I was going to call the police, her Larger friend grabbed my gf hair, spit in her face, then punched her, I was trying to pull away, however her friend had my gfs hair in her hand, needless to say, after all hell broke loose, I am speaking with an attorney as well as local law enforcement, I believe The Cottage completely failed at de-​escelating a situation, even though the server started it. I am totally shocked, I didnt know this server, i never had a personal problem with them, I was not out to get them. I called The Cottage and still am waiting for a phone call back. There is still way too much to type, just sad that a member of their staff ruined a perfectly great evening.

Dirty old place on the beach, lots of older folks here around midnight, still a dope place to get trashed if youre in college. Only 4 stars bc I paid $ 6 for a rolling rock. YES A ROLLING ROCK. THEY ONLY HAVE URINALS IN THE MENS ROOM. The band is awesome tho, they play a variety of music genres

Great service, kid friendly. Anyone who keeps a box of toys for kids, so parents can enjoy drink/​eats is #1 in my book. Will be back.

Early bird dinner specials from 4 – 6 in the cottage. Salad bar was large and fresh. Service was super nice and friendly. The bar in front has 4 large TVS for every possible game. The downstairs beach bar is a party scene. Loved it. Stuffed flounder was decadent and the Gulf shrimp portion was large and fresh.

Great location and ocean views! Cool bar and deck. Friendly service and nice valet. Somewhat slow kitchen. And prices are pretty high. Overall worth the stop.

Two stars for the food — rubber shrimp and funky tasting mashed potatoes. Pricey for a beach bar/​grille but I’d give the twin sisters who waited on us five stars. Momma raised ‘em up polite and delightful. My 9 month old g’kid thought the live band was a hoot and clapped till she fell asleep in her food.

What a great place! First off Tammy behind the bar is wonderful! Introduced herself with a handshake and a smile that never quit! Second, I asked what he most popular food item was and she said «the burrito» I responded «at a beach bar???», she said «yep!» And so I ordered that and beach bread… Both were great! There was also a jam session of musicians which was great! Lots of low key fun and perfect for a relaxing day off!

It’s the local/​tourist watering hole, live band and cold beer… I don’t think I need to say anything else– ok great people watching!!!

We went there twice on our visit the last visit was a Monday night and we sat at the bar and it was fairly slow and we started and the band kicked in all of a sudden the dance floor was packed playing super music everybody was fun and it was quite a demographic mix of people all good some local some tourist
the drinks were strong I had a Reuben which was fantastic how much totally different visit than the last time we were there three days prior with a short little blonde waitress that was obviously in charge she was very rude to us and knew that no matter what she said to us management would not do anything to her I have, experienced this with this place before they the cart must be pulling the horse so to speak, management doesn’t do anything to ensure that customers are treated with the upmost respect.

Cheesy bread appetizer, Fish chowder, and coconut shrimp awesome. This is one of the better beach bars on Ft. Myers Beach and popular with the locals. I ate here twice, once inside the upper level and once right on the beach with my toes in the sand. Both meals were very good and the service excellent. Note that you must pretty much pay for parking in most locations that are in this very central area of the beach so I would not ding them for parking as some reviewers have done.

Very typical beach bar on Ft. Meyers beach. Open air, booze, dive, with good food. I ordered the fish taco’s. There were 3 taco’s with just plain old white fish. You can get many options of fish but I really can’t tell the difference from cod or grouper. Service was good and it was the beginning of Pirate Week so Arrgh was the term of the day. ARRGH
