Alamo Rent A Car

Alamo at the Ft Myers airport did a great job for our June, 2016 trip to Florida. i had checked us in online as a «skip the counter» customer.
we walked directly across the street from the airline gate, intending to walk directly to our vehicle type to choose one. We had reserved a Chevy Tahoe. Thats when Alamo employee Reggie greeted us, glanced at our paperwork and offered us a larger Silverado in white or black for the same price. Nice. We were able to seat everyone in added comfort all week. The air conditioning was strongly cold. Returning the car took less than 2 minutes with no surprise in the final price. We were very happy with our rental and the price.

I reserved my minivan two months in advance. I skipped the desk and kiosk and went straight to the rental area. The attendant scanned the barcode from my printout and I selected from 1 of 8 minivans in the lot. We got a new 2016 Town & Country with 8100 miles. It ran great! It was clean! The exiting attendant checked my credit card and we were on are way within 5 minutes. Great no hassle experience and the same thing when we returned the vehicle. I walked around with the attendant and found nothing wrong. He gave us our receipt and headed for the airport. Great experience with Alamo at the airport and WILL rent again from this location!

Overall the experience was good, but they were super pushy to get me to upgrade and get something different. We had gotten the rental for free by redeeming miles and were not interested in getting a larger/​different vehicle. Even after explaining that to the counter rep they still tried to get us to get something else. After declining multiple upgrade offers that we did not want, we went to get our vehicle and we were upgraded anyways because they were out of the car we had reserved. The pushy counter rep was what lowered my star rating, the car itself and the rest of the people there were nice and helpful.

I had a horrible experience with the Alamo staff at RSW airport over the weekend. I reserved a car online ahead of time that stated it would fit 5 people and 4 suitcases. I was quoted somewhere around $ 160 for the weekend and thought that was a pretty good deal. I got to RSW airport and the man I dealt with told me that he had my reservation and that they reserved a Fiat for me and that it would be $ 278 for 2 days. I told him that was not what I reserved and that there was no way that 5 people and 4 suitcases would ever fit in a fiat. he really could not have cared less. He told us he could give us a full sized car for $ 238 which was a little cheaper with some sort of double stacked discount. It was nothing near what I reserved with Alamo on-​line and I was very un-​happy with their customer service. How do you tell me it’ll be around $ 160 for a car for 5 people and then give me a fiat for $ 278???
I ended up leaving Alamo and walking down to Enterprise where I had a wonderful experience. they were very pleasant the entire time and really cared about their customer service.
I wish Alamo had worked out, but the man I dealt with was not helpful, friendly, and really did not care.

Nice car. Clean. But be aware the primary driver cannot be different from the name on the credit card holding the reservation, you have to add a 2^nd driver and they get you if you’re adding an additional driver and the insurance. Extra $ 300!!! Also we picked the car up at noon and had rental for 7 days but since we planned on returning it at 7pm on the last day they charged us for an 8^th day! Didn’t think that was fair. Probably will not rent from them again.

Excellent experience with Alamo. Easiest way to book your reservation is to register in the Alamo Rewards Program. Quick and efficient and no one is trying to sell you options you do not want. Use the kiosk once you arrive to print out paperwork and then see the attendant to be directed to the aisle where you choose your vehicle. Return process was quick and painless. Vehicle was new, clean and ran well.
We will definitely continue to do business with Alamo.

The service at RSW was very good. The car ran well, but was not cleaned very well. The back seat had many large stains, the drivers floor mat had a large hole from shoe heel. Inside front windshield was very dirty/​grimy which was dangerous first time I faced the sun and could barely see.
Also there was a lot of up-​selling going on. Was told the Corolla trunk may not be able to hold two large suit cases, when in fact there was plenty of room. Tried to have me upgrade to a larger vehicle for additional $$.

Got a great deal on priceline for this location. I was happy to see that it was a 2 min walk from baggage claim to the rental agencies, this one included. Online pre check in was great because I just had to show up and swipe my credit card and license in the kiosk and decline a few pages of options before the contract was printed out.
Once out in the lot a friendly representative told us we could take a much larger car than what we paid for at no extra cost and pointed us to the row. We chose whatever car we wanted.
The dodge charger we took was clean and well equipped for a rental. We didn’t drive it much to be honest but it was good for our purpose of getting to the beach hotel and back and a few short trips to restaurants.
Return was just as easy. We pulled into a lane of other returned cars and the staff member quickly checked the car and printed our receipt.
This is a very efficient company that I would recommend to anyone.

Easiet airport to rent a car. Alamo had the best rate on a premium Mustang convertible, it really made the trip.

Excellent service — they’ve found a new loyal customer. Shout out to Dominick! I wish I could remember the name of the woman at the gate with the blue glasses too. If all Alamos run like the Fort Meyers location, I’ll never use another car company. I got the level of car expected at the price I agreed to pay online.

Had a great experience! Price was the best around. The online check-​in system was easy, and it really expedited the whole process. Car was in great shape and just what I was looking for.

Was disappointed that there were no midsize/​standard cars as I reserved. Wanted something w good fuel mileage since we were driving to port St Lucie to visit relatives. Their first offer was Dodge Challenger — no way. Then I said what about small Suv but only thing that could come up with was midsize SUV. I mentioned this at return and didn’t get much more than, oh yeah we run out of those smaller cars a lot. Many other options from which to choose next time at RSW.

Got a good rate for an SUV through the Costco Travel website. It was actually cheaper than an economy car. Did the on-​line check-​in and didn’t have to wait in line (although there were idle agents at the desk, so it wouldn’t have been much of a wait). A lady greeted us at the lot, looked at our paperwork and pointed us to the SUVs. She suggested we take the brand new 4Runner, with NAV, leather and 3^rd row. The 3^rd row worked out great for getting grandparents and kids in the same car. Returning the car was also quick and easy.
Had a similar experience when renting in Denver as well. I did find a car from an off-​site (shuttle) company that was about $ 150 cheaper, but the reviews were horrible. Best to pay a little extra and avoid a lot of hassle.

Had a great experience overall. Had the big upsell at the counter but didn’t buy. Went outside and the service was great. Got an upgrade no charge. Checked back in in less than two minutes! All in all a great experience.

Fast delivery of vehicle and drop off was equally efficient. Car was clean and in great condition and the fee charged was very competitive.

I made my Alamo car reservation about 6 weeks before I traveled. It was literally the best price around, with the best reviews compared to the other car rental agencies. I also checked a few days beforehand to see if I can get a better last minute deal and it was very comparable to the price I already reserved for.
Check-​in was very easy also. I didn’t sign up for Alamo Insiders until after I made my reservation, but that didn’t matter since Alamo Insiders are strictly just for «savings». For every reservation made online, you can check-​in ahead of time where you can enter your drivers license, credit card number, and waive/​opt-​in for insurance. Once that is done, all you need is your print-​out with a confirmation code and you can instantly skip the line.
When I arrived at the airport, all I had to do was cross the street and go straight to where the cars were. There was no compact car available, so the Alamo representative ended up grabbing a mid-​size car from Enterprise. Free upgrade. Also good to know… Alamo and Enterprise share the same cars at this airport.
My car was an older Nisan Sentra with about 19,000 miles on it. Drove no problem though.
I definitely would go to Alamo again at Fort Myers.

RSW is great as the car rental facility is directly across the street from the terminal. No annoying shuttle to take! We booked Alamo and checked-​in online, which allows you to go directly to your car. They let you choose any car in your category, which is a great bonus. We ended up with a nice Mazda CX-​5, which even had blind spot monitor and a backup camera.

100% Yes! I read through all of the reviews for most of the car rental options at Fort Myers Airport and Alamo definitely reigned supreme. They were on par pricing wise with the other rental car companies so I knew I had to go with them. I actually did the online check-​in option. This means when you arrive you don’t need to wait in line to talk to an agent or wait in line at the kiosk. You just take your check-​in confirmation that you printed out at home and head to your car. The people in the little booth stopped me and walked me to the car. Of course they were out of economy so they gave me the next size up and since I already had my slip I didn’t get an unnecessary up sell.
The car was clean, nice, and new. It drove great! Drop off was super quick and easy. Will defineely be using Alamo for my next trip to Fort Myers.

Dies hat alle unsere schlechten Erfahrungen des Empfangs unseres Mietwagens in Miami «fast» entkräftet.
Wir wurden ordentlich am Airport empfangen und konnten unseren SUV zurückgeben.
Es gab keinerlei Probleme!!!
Nicht so wie bei dem Empfang am 28.05.2014 in Miami, da wurden wir miserabel behandelt. Die Mitarbeiterin von Alamo hat und beim Checkin des Autos behandelt als seien wir der letzte Abschaum.
Nach einer schlechten Bewertung unsererseits bei Unilocal hat dich sogar Alaml bei uns gemeldet und nach einigen erklärenden E-​Mails eine Wiedergutmachung versprochen.
Hmmmmhmmmm,… wie soll dies von statten gehen? Wir haben unser Car abgegeben und es viel kein Wort von dem herablassenden Vorfall der Alamomitarbeiterin am 28.05.2014 und der angeblichen Wiedergutmachung!!!
Wir wurden in unserem Urlaub von Alamo freundlich aufgefordert unsere schlechte Erfahrungen per e-​Mail und Pictures der Dokumente zu dokumentieren. Dann kam die Antwort, wir bearbeiten den Fall und sind um eine Wiedergutmachung bestimmt!!!

Das bedeutet für uns, ???

Preis-​Leistung ist hier Top, mieten immer bei Alamo und wählen immer den Fullsize SUV. Für den gibt es zwischendurch immer wieder mal besondere Angebote.
Meistens ist Alamo auch bei den Preisvergleichsseiten weit oben (also günstig). Dadurch passiert es aber auch, dass extrem viele Urlauber bei Alamo buchen und da kann es dann auch mal sein, dass man etwas länger warten muss.
Wer nicht so gut englisch spricht, sollte vorsichtig am Schalter sein, denn meistens versuchen die Mitarbeiter einem doch noch eine Zusatzversicherung aufzuschwatzen .
Wenn man am Schalter fertig ist, dann geht man zur Choice Line, d.h. in verschiedenen Reihen stehen dann jeweils die Fahrzeuge in den unterschiedlichen Kategorien. Hat man z.B. Fullsize gebucht, dann geht man in die Reihe Fullsize und kann sich dann eines der Fahrzeuge aussuchen. Der Schlüssel steckt und man belädt das Auto und fährt zur Ausfahrt. Dort steht dann ein Mitarbeiter und scannt alles ab, man bekommt die Unterlagen und fährt dann raus.
Zurück geht es genauso einfach. Car Rental Returns folgen, reinfahren und beim Auto warten bzw. einfach schon auspacken, bis ein Mitarbeiter kommt und alles wieder scannt und das Auto kontrolliert.
Kleiner Tipp, wenn man zu zweit oder mit mehreren Erwachsenen oder größeren Kindern unterwegs ist: Einer geht nicht zum Gepäck holen, sondern direkt rüber zur Autovermietung. Der oder die anderen holen das Gepäck und gehen dann auch rüber (nur einmal über die Straße). Sollte wirklich eine Schlage sein, spart man so viel Zeit, denn meistens gehen alle direkt zum Gepäckband.
