The food got better but watching the cook eat rite off the slicer as if no one could see him turned me off don’t think l will be going back.

Been here several times. Lately been getting the sliced pork. Always been good. The baked potatoes are almost always overdone. Ive asked for a new one before just to get the same. Still would recommend to anyone though.

Awesome barbecue, great tasting, fantastic bbq sauce. We bought 2 to take home. I thought it was the best value. The wait staff were all very laid back and nice. The prices were very fair, you get a nice size meal with sides for around 10 bucks. The only knock is the outside curb appeal. Not being from the area you looked at the outside and was almost hesitant to go in. If we left I would have missed out on one of the BESTBARBECUESWEEVERHAD!

Love this location! No need for menu — I get the same great meal every time: Salad bar, pulled chicken sandwich on roll, French fries and sweet tea. Yummy!

Delicious food and great specials. Ribs fall off the bone and you have to try their loaded fries.

I came to Sonny’s after coming here for the last two years. I ordered the all you can eat ribs platter the ribs came and they were tough and chewy and the garlic bread was cold and the fries as well. I try to order another round of ribs thinking that it would be much better but they were the same I had to quit and I didnt order anymore after being disappointed! This will be my last Sonny’s and I used to love coming here and eating the ribs and they were once my favorite but not anymore after this trip.

The sliced pork is the absolute best. Been taking out by the pound for the family for over 20 years. Never fails to satisfy!

Excellent food. Horrible service. Such a shame because it’s our favorite place to eat. We don’t have a Sonnys in The Midwest so we always make sure to hit up a SBBQ every time we head east.

Make it a point to visit this place every time I go Fort Myers. The ribs are cooked to perfection and fall off the bone. Their sweet and spicy BBQ sauce is excellent.

Sonny’s is a great BBQ chain that delivers every time. The décor is mostly faux wood and gives you the feeling of an outdoor BBQ. I personally feel is tacky but it fits. The menu is big but really leaves only a few options: brisket, pulled and sliced pork or chicken, and ribs. With a variety of sides. I go for the pulled pork and usually the Mac and cheese and baked beans but the mashed potatoes are excellent too. I prefers corn bread over the garlic bread and I always finish my meal with a banana pudding with nilla wafers. I like that they give you the options to take any drinks to-go at no extra charge. If you order to-go in the first place, they are usually very quick too.

Sonny’s serves up delicious ribs. They are fall-off-the-bone delicious! The half chicken is always juicy. The Texas Toast is awesome as well. There is a small salad bar which is somewhat basic. I recommend trying all of the BBQ sauces on the table. Each one is unique and tasty. Portions are decent for the price. Order the chicken & rib combo. Your mouth will thank you.

Very good food! My friends go here all the time and since I am from Detroit and I was craving bbq they recommended this place! The told me to get the baby back ribs instead of the regular ribs so I did I also got the fries and Mac and cheese very tasty! The also give you four bbq sauces on your table so you can try it, I enjoyed the mild sauce! The food, staff, and environment was great!

BBQ beans were cold, ribs were fatty and dry, not sweet and smokie as described in the menu, baked potato was dry and over cooked, cornbread was dry and cold, we were very disapointed since we drove over 30 miles to have Sonny’s we have had in the past. We won’t go back!

Part of a chain. Excellent BBQ. The combo for 14.99 is enough for 2 people. Pulled pork and brisket were my favorite. Chicken and ribs were still good. Lots of sides to choose from. Only has bud and bud light. Menu shows wine and other beers. Why not fix the menu? This is original restaurant.

Sonny’s is slow to offer better food choices. By this I mean for years they still don’t offer real butter. Their green beans are canned. Their corn on the cob is way overcooked. But on the positive side their meats as re delicious. Fried okra is very good and the french fries are good. The bathrooms were dirty and in need of renovation. There are better BBQ restaurants in town and you will pay more. So overall Sonny’s has its place as a cheaper, convenient BBQ restaurant that’s close to home.

Possibly my fave BBQ joint ever… I’ve tried almost everything here over the past 30 years but am currently in love with their smokey/sweet beef spare ribs. Offered as a dry rub too. Usually super meaty, never dry and every bit as tender as their baby back pork ribs. I also love their super tender pulled pork. All these can be had as a combo with assorted sides. I enjoy the bbq baked beans and crinkle fries but the slaw is good too. You can select corn bread with these but I recommend one of their huge slices of Texas garlic toast! Sure wish they had a Sonny’s in San Diego!

Well this is not the best BBQ I have ever had but it’s a good contender. The 5 stars come from the price that comes along with the quality! This is the best deal for a meal we have happened upon in Fort Myers so far. Plus great service despite a full restaurant. We enjoy ordering appetizers because we rarely order dessert. Not expecting to get a starter here but we tried one and loved it– the BBQ pork egg rolls. The bottomless plates of BBQ area deal if you are hungry! The salad bar is super fresh and stocked with a variety of toppings. I love the oversized cups you get so no worries about waiting for refills. If you have kids, there are plenty of high chairs and booster seats available. And they have several kids options as well as a large coloring mat with crayons. All in all a great family restaurant that you will get a good value at and not leave hungry!

Finger lickin good BBQ! The meats and sides are awesome! Garlic bread is to die for, we always fight over the last slice. Hope they add a Carolina style BBQ sauce to their selection of table sauces. Tasty ribs, brisket and catfish. Thank you!

Sonny’s Sweet sauce could replace plasma if I ever needed a transfusion. Trust me; it’s on my driver’s license, right beside that little Organ Donor heart. This is a thing, people — talk to your local DMV/RMV. We’ve got a history, Sonny’s and I. Raised on the concept that this is Q, I relished in its simplicity: smoke, meat, sweet tea(the gold standard), WetNaps. Practically any plate has an AYCE option, and as a poor college student, I took advantage of their bottomless smoked turkey platter during my time in Gainesville. Tuesdays with Sonny, I called it. Fast forward(ahem) years and they’re still running the deal for dry rub or sweet and smokey style ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Unlimited servings, with endless sides and corn/garlic bread for under $ 14. Of course, with the heaping mounds of meat they sling, you and your colon would do just fine with a single plate, but I digress. It’s tender, flavorful, cheap and abundant so why only four(4.4 to be exact)? Inconsistency plagues this barn like a plague, and the difference from one meal to the next can be monumental. My Pork 3-Ways sampler of lean and sweet pulled pork, overdone sliced pork and dry-as-the-rub dry rub pork ribs swung two strikes, and the girl’s fries were well under room temp. So goes the nature of slow and low on the mass production level — ribs don’t sit well, and unless you’re stewing a pork roast between orders, it’s gonna lose its juice. On its own, the meat is a crap shoot. But at that price and under that divine Sweet sauce, I’d eat through my plate and in to the table.
