Regency Inn Fort Walton Beach I really don’t like to write a bad review but in this case there is no possible way to avoid it. We checked into the Regency Inn in Fort Walton Beach Florida and the room was in poor condition. There were stains on the ceiling the closet had been converted into a set of shelves and a spot for the mini fridge. The small refrigerator had a dent in the lower right hand side where a sizable amount of the paint had been removed and it was very rusted. The bathroom tub had a large stain on the outside in the center. The room smelled of feces. I spoke with one of the hotel staff and they said they would see to it. The sheets were clean and the mattress was in good condition they only had three small pillows. The AC worked well enough and the curtains did offer privacy but didn’t block out all light. The exterior lights were so bright that I woke up several times thinking I had missed the alarm because it looked like daylight was coming through. The towels were course and uncomfortable. I texted a picture of the room to a friend and they said that even Captain Obvious wouldn’t rate it. The rooms open to the outside and I half expected to see a 1968 Impala parked there. The exterior has recently been painted and the roof replaced but no attention has been given to the room. Since we were staying there on a government rate and the military computer said this was a good place to stay we took it. Clearly the system needs to be updated. This is the part where I think I deserve a medal. We decided jointly that we didn’t feel safe and since no one called to remove the smell from the room we weren’t going to stay another night. I told my wife to go check out while I found us another place to stay. She went to the front desk and the manager told her she was checked out and that we were going to have to pay an extra day’s fee for staying there. She asked for a 0.00 balance receipt and he refused to give her one. He referred to her as Ms. Government Employee and accused her for working for Obama. She returned to the room on the verge of tears and shaking. I went to the office and the same manager must have thought that I was a colleague and accused her of being racist towards Indians(from India) he then told me several times she was a FB. I’m not going to spell the vulgar insult out for you. It took all of my composure not become violent. I told him that he couldn’t charge the second night and he said that he was. I told him that government rate means no fees for early departure and that I was going to talk to corporate. He didn’t care he was going to charge what he liked. I left rather than escalate the problem further. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel in any way. In fact if this was the only hotel in the area I would move to another area or go get a tent from Walmart and camp before staying here. I would give it zero stars if possible but unfortunately one is as low as it can go.

It’s a barebones hotel. Clean rooms, no bugs, pretty quiet, we were able to check in early. This isn’t a resort so don’t expect a lot of extras for the great price. Pool could have used a cleaning. Coffee was great in the morning and had to go lids. It’s 1.5 miles to okaloosa island and ihop across the street and Waffle House less than .5 mile for breakfast.

This Regency Inn is a HORRIBLE hotel. The people were beyond rude and unhelpful. I had booked it sight unseen, or I would have left right away when encountering the attitude of the woman at the desk, but I had booked two nights at , for $ 150/night, in advance(Memorial Day weekend prices). The room was shabby(worse than a Motel 6), with mildew on the ceiling in the bathroom, shoddy construction, and no extras such as coffee in the room or continental breakfast. But the worst was that the air conditioning in the room had some sort of short in it, so that you had to open the door every 30 minutes to get the AC to come back on! In a room with no fans, no windows that can open, in Florida in the summer, this is awful. We did not get to sleep until 3am. In addition, the internet barely(slowly) worked some of the time but most of the time did not work at all. Zero apologies from the staff about any of this; it seemed that these kinds of complaints were just normal to them and they were well-versed in giving a hard, arrogant lack of response. When I managed to get a cancellation with the help of , I went to check out and she said she was charging my card $ 208 for the one night we had stayed there.(I was with two children and, although one kept waking up due to being hot and sweaty, I did not want to leave in the night with the other one sleeping). I said I did not agree to this charge, as I had booked at $ 150 a night(already extremely overpriced as it was the worst motel I have ever stayed at, would be bad on the scale of $ 50/night cheap motels). To this, she simply said she would be charging my card $ 208 for the night anyway, without a signature from me. I am disputing this with , who are trying hard to be helpful(though having a difficult time; the hotel woman refused to respond to the agent I was speaking with, simply put her on hold repeatedly and then hung up on her), and my credit card, but it is going to be a lot of extra work. It was part of a birthday present weekend, and put a dark, angry cloud over the whole weekend.

This was one of the worst hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in.. . Dirty, broken down, smelly and expensive. Don’t stay here.

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. –The hotel staff was very unpleasant –Cigarrette burns on the comforter –Non-smoking room smelled like cigarrettes –Old and dirty carpeting, towels, sheets, etc. When I walked in I literally wanted to touch nothing, it was just nasty looking. Do yourselves a favor and stay anywhere else but here. $ 200 just because it was Memorial Day weekend is a complete insult and just plain robbery.

PROs: Really close to the Okaloosa Island hotspots and Destin. If you’ve forgotten to bring something you need, this place is really close to a CVS and Target. The cheapest gas in this area is just down the road. Mini fridge & microwave in the room. Free wifi &HBO and it’s directly across S.R. 98 from a park with a small fishing pier. Friendly staff. If you’re looking for a cheap place close to it all to get out and explore, like we are, this is primo for the price. CONs: The room phones won’t allow one to make 1 – 800 calls to save on mobile minutes. The floors were a bit dirty and there were no tissues… if you have allergies, bring some tissues There’s no coffee pot in the rooms, but there’s always coffee in the lobby. If you’re driving, just bring one with you. We got a non-smoking room, but it smelled like the people here before us had been smoking.

Nice, economic place to stay, only 3 miles from Destin and the beach
