Before I continue, you should all know I’m writing this review from the property itself, and that it has taken me about 4 tries to even write this because not only is the wifi horrid here, Sprint sevice is severely lacking here. I’m actually using the car dealership next door’s(Sam Taylor) wifi. Having said that, on with the review. THEGOOD: 1. Location. Pretty easy to find — on the main drag in Ft. Walton Beach. Across the street is a kids park with beach access to the bay, a dog park and a few other things like that. A Red Lobster and Olive Garden are within walking distance as are a few other places to eat. The beaches are within a 5 minute drive as well and the main activites of Destin are within 20 minutes(in traffic). 2. Price. Compared to EVERY.OTHER.PROPERTY. in the area, this is a steal. Sure, you don’t get planned activities for the kidlets, turn down service or any of the other foo foo stuff you get from the nicer places, but you do get a similar sized room, comfortable beds and of course a friendly staff. 3. Super accomodating staff. We were in Florida for an impromptu camping trip over the past week and after about 3 days of super hot and humid weather, we had to move indoors. We were previously in Pensacola Beach, but ALL of the properties there cost at least $ 150/night — even the run down holes in the wall. We were planning on coming to Destin during our stay, so we figured we would check lodging in the Destin area. We found the Super 8 online and booked, knowing that checkin wasn’t until the afternoon. But the heat was just too bad so we packed up camp and headed into the Destin /Ft. Walton area and tried to check in at 10:30am. Luckily, the lady at the front desk was helpful and offered us the only room that was currently available, but it matched what we needed: smoking room with AC, and we weren’t stuck driving around all day waiting for 1pm. THEBAD: 1. WIFI. Like I said at the beginning, I’m connected to the car dealership next door’s wifi. If I am lucky enough to get connected here, there is the obligatory, and highly obnoxious, wifi portal page where you have to press connect as if you didn’t want to in the first place. So don’t try to use your Chromecast or Rokus here without a hotspot(or connecting to the other wifi) as they just won’t work. 2. AC. The AC unit in our room worked ok. It was just slow to do its job. We arrived at 1030am and the room temp was about 85 degrees. I turned the AC on, turned around and went to lunch for an hour and did some things up in Destin. We arrived back around 1:30 and it was still 80 degrees in the room. It wasn’t until much later in the evening that the temp finally dropped to the desired 72 degrees. Granted, the room obviously hadn’t been used recently so the unit did have to work harder than normal I suppose. 3. Well, there really isn’t a 3. Aside from the 2 issues above, most everything else was ok. So sure, this isn’t the Four Seasons or the insert luxury hotel name here, but in a pinch and for people on a budget, this property is pretty decent. Would I stay here again? Sure, once they fix their wifi.

Who put 1 $??? It’s 220 a night for this dump. And good luck getting past the front desk clerk. I asked if there were rooms available and she literally looked me up and down, then said, «no. Full house.» I told her yeah right and walked out. She kept talking and I never looked back. Almost every room was being cleaned and there was a vacancy sign.

So glad that me and my mom chose this Hotel! It was clean and the beds were very comfy. I have problems with my hands falling asleep(carpal tunnel) and I’m happy to say I didn’t have any problems and I slept like a baby! The Front Desk Clerks were very nice and courteous! If I ever go back, I WILL stay at this Hotel again! And the price was very affordable! Location is also great!

I don’t know where you came up with the one $ sign for this hotel but you need to put 3 $ signs beside it. I’ve NEVER heard of a super 8 being $ 170 a night damn ill stay at the Hilton or Marriott for that.

Was given this hotel when I used Priceline. For $ 39 dollars the value was ok. Older room with some stains on the shower curtain and floor but clean and tidy. Breakfast was the normal prepackaged carb fare but was provided with a smile by the front desk. Location was central and across from the water in Ft. Walton, which can help make the downsides of this place a bit more pleasant.

We chose this hotel based in its location and reasonable price. We flew to Fort Walton beach for a wedding and we were staying for 3 nights. I wish we had gone elsewhere. The carpet turned our feet black and felt grimy. Hair on some of the towels. Beds were ok, pillows were uncomfortable. I did see the woman cleaning our room and she seemed very thorough but they need to contract someone to come and clean the carpets. It has a pool which was a great selling point for me — but it wasn’t open due to repairs that were supposed to be done by June 11th(and then June 15th and then???) Other things were understandable. It’s an old building, it’s near the street and parking lot so it can be noisy. Those aren’t deal breakers for me(though I’m sure they are for others).

The front desk woman was a German lady who was almost comically racist. Within 5 minutes of arriving she uttered the following statements: «we should never have had to give Danzig to the Slavs» «if you’re not going to speak English, get out of America, its disgusting these people who think they can come take over.» «oh, we lost Germany to the Turks 40 years ago, its all Turks now.» Ive never had a conversation with a random person about post WW2 territorial changes in Europe. It was actually a little bit unsettling. The hotel itself is mostly a dump. Do not come here for a vacation. I was not in town as a tourist, so it wasnt a huge deal. The rooms will not kill you or give you any mold-borne diseases. I saw places to stay that looked worse, and this motel is nicely located on the main street near a park and the lagoon.
