It is definitely a little gem. We are thinking to go back already only a few days after our fist visit. The food is amazing! We ordered the mixed grill and some mezza and everything we tried was wonderful. I loved the lentil soup! People were super nice as well.

An authentic, family-run restaurant that recreates a bit of Turkey right here in Southern California. Right off the 405, too, for those wanting to take a break and get a wholesome, home-cooked meal. Each day they make at least one special, always excellent. The golden lentil soup is the best I’ve had outside of Istanbul(don’t forget to squeeze a bit of lemon into it!). The owner and staff are incredibly friendly. Don’t let the strip mall façade fool you: a lot of thought, pride, and love governs this high-quality, pleasant little place. I didn’t get to try the giant beans yet, or the lamb shank, but I’ll return soon to this great discovery of a restaurant that is gracing Orange County with a bit of the complex and rewarding flavors of Ottoman cuisine.

One of the gem in Fountain Valley! I think this place put Turkish food into fine dining that make everything so enjoyable. The food is made to order so it takes some time to come out but you can always munching on the pita bread and yogurt dipping. Tried: # Grilled Kofta($ 10.95/$ 13.95), so soft inside but charred perfectly outside. # Eggplant Salad($ 4.5/$ 5.95), so addicting and refreshing, I like eggplant salad better than the Roasted Eggplant and Yogurt($ 4.5/$ 5.95), the later one has strong garlicky taste while the former has a lighter and crispier taste. # Chopped Shish Kabep($ 13.95/$ 17.95), also cooked perfectly and I do love these a little fatty part of meat. # Filet Mignon Shish Kabep($ 13.95/$ 17.95), cooked perfectly medium rare and nice quality meat. # Mushroom soup($ 5 soup of the day), very hearty on a cold day. It’s a bowl of well blended mushroom that was totally different than I imagined but I love it. service is always sweet and warm that made me feel really comfortable and they have very fast wifi as well. I only dine here during lunch hour so I do not know the differences between lunch/dinner, All their menu item comes with lunch/dinner price. Last time I dine in around 4pm and was still charged the lunch price. The parking lot looks big but could be packed, there’s street parking at nearby apartment.

Hospitality Great! Food Delicious! Everyone there is so kind and the food is absolutely amazing! This cozy place has the most authentic and home made Turkish food. They have specials too but you won’t go wrong with any of their shish kebap’s(marinated so well) or variety of koftes. If you are a vegetarian they have tasty veggie dishes too. It is a smaller restaurant and you may have to wait if its packed but that depends on the time and day. But I think its worth the wait if it is busy. It keeps it cozy and quaint like your in a family members kitchen. I don’t give 5 stars often but this place sure deserves it!

My boyfriend and I tried this place for the first time yesterday since I was craving Mediterranean food. I ordered the filet mignon shish kebap and he ordered the spicy krofta. The food was amazing. Great portion size, really tasty, and cooked perfectly. Don’t forget to order a side of garlic sauce. It’s $ 1 but so worth it. The service was definitely a 5-star as well. They were very attentive and so nice. I can’t wait to come back!

I love places like this. The food is made with love, the proprietor is in the kitchen cooking and you can taste the authenticity of the food. We ordered the«off the menu» mixed grill. Off the menu because he forgot to add it to the menu before printing. Jokingly said that it makes it more special. The meats were seasoned on point and for $ 24.99, it’s enough for two hungry people or 4 really light eaters. Filet mignon, two chicken skewers, two shish kebabs, two spicy kefta sand two ground beef kebabs. Came with a side of salad, rice pilaf, half a grilled tomato and more salad on the plate. Complimentary was warm and soft pita bread, pickled vegetables and a yogurt dipping sauce. Our check came to around $ 40 with two drinks, extra side of rice, extra bread and 2 pieces of almond semolina cookies. Good value for the amount of food and it was all delicious. Will definitely be back!

You get one warm pita cut into quarters with dipping yogurt sauce(tatziki?). I asked for more pita and was charged $ 1. Not free! Anyways, I ordered the Kofta Kebap lunch special. It came with 2 scoops of rice with beef-lamb patties. The beef was tender and well-seasoned. The rice was like crack. Ate the whole damn thing, and I’m on a low-carb diet. Decent prices, good food.

I came here for lunch a few hours ago. It was a spur of the moment decision since plans changed. In the end, I was very happy to have found a place thanks to Unilocal! They deserve the 5-star rating! The food was delicious! Since we waited so long for our food, they gave us complimentary cheese rolls, which was different, but a good different. We then got our entrees. I got the Chicken Shish Kebab. It was very well seasoned, and a little spicy(just how I like it). Very tasty. The seasoned rice it came with was very tasty too! I really enjoyed it! The restaurant itself is pretty small, but I came when there wasn’t very many people there, so it was nice. Customer service was superb, though. Attentive and very friendly. Average pricing for the entrees. The Chicken Shish Kebab were $ 10.95($ 13.95 for dinner). Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch. I didn’t realize some of the ingredients was organic(or so it says on their menu online at least), but I did see on their menu there that it was non-GMO. Will I come back? Possibly if I’m in the area(I’m not in the area too often). I’d HIGHLY recommend this place if you want some Mediterranean food, though! Made with higher quality ingredients, and the food is very well seasoned.

Unilocalers! Definitively worth visiting! It’s a hole in the wall(maximum capacity 25) but has such a beautiful interior the decoration is really cute! Most importantly the food is amazing! I loved it and it was really inexpensive it was around $ 40 for my boyfriend and I. The food was flavorful, you get a lot for a great price! I had to take some home because I got full! the service was great! We did not call in to reserve(although it might be a good idea to call ahead of time to check how busy it is because they have seats outside meaning they can get pretty busy) but thankfully we got seated right away! The experience was good overall it takes five stars!

This place is a hidden gem. Located in a very unassuming shopping center next to a barber shop. The place is small but clean. The staff is very nice. I had the the chicken kebab lunch plate. Everything was so good I cleaned my plate. The rice was fluffy and flavorful. The chicken was lean and seasoned. They also have very good pita bread that was so soft and pillowy. They also have a refrigerated case of meats you can take home to cook. If you like middle eastern food, you have to try this place.

The food and service is great! I will definitely dine here again, but with more appetite. The portions are good and the chicken is very tender and cooked to perfection. You may miss this establishment, because the sign is a little small and so is the restaurant. It’s conveniently located in a small plaza with plenty of parking.

I almost don’t want to write this because then they will be crowded and we will have to wait for a table =( Granted we came in pretty close to closing time, but the guy who served us(didn’t catch his name) was an awesome waiter! Patient, kind, and helpful =) Can’t go into much detail cause I honestly don’t know how to describe the food I ate, but I will say this: though the spicy kofta plate wasn’t spicy at all, combined with the roasted tomato(what makes this so amazing?!), that fluffy buttered rice, pickled? Pepper? Red onions, and the beef meat patty… Man, I felt at peace. I was also starving but you can tell they put a lot of love in their food. Tasted fresh and attention to detail is emphasized in their food quite a bit. Made my day really. Tried my friends beef and lamb skewers. To me, the lamb was a touch gamey. The white bean salad it comes with is chock-full of poop helper pellets with plenty of tomatoes, onions, and whatnot to keep you full. Fries were tasty and crisp. The pechanga pastry was very yummy! You have to eat it quickly, but be careful, otherwise a third degree burn will occur and thats not cool. It was a good mixture of flakey from the phyllo dough, salty from the feta cheese and pastrami, and overall delicious. I asked one of the waiters about the Turkish dessert, and he explained to me that it was a buttered semolina flour cookie(I think). I wasn’t feeling a cookie so I passed, but the guy graciously brought out two so my friend and I can try some. I wouldn’t say it’s a cookie per se, Cuz it is not chewy but it’s moist(like honey? Was used) and it was dense and crumbly. It wasn’t something I was used too, but I did enjoy it! If I wasn’t on a low carb diet, I would have downed that sucker like no other. There’s also hazelnuts on top, so it’s kind of healthy. Price wasn’t bad considering all the TLC that went into the food. I haven’t had awesome service like that in awhile,(at least from a food place) so that was nice. Waters were refilled, we were often asked how we liked everything(but they weren’t being overbearing), and they genuinely wondered how everything was going. Will definitely return but not anytime soon because this place is too prone to food coma.

This place looks way nicer inside than what one might expect when parking in the lot. Its very cozy & intimate and the bathroom is extremely clean which is always a plus. I ordered the chicken kebab lunch special which was around $ 10 which was very good and brought out pretty quick. They also provide some bread and yogurt with cucumber sauce. I look forward to trying the doner and adana later on.

After reading Dan H’s glowing review I was eager to try this place and I was not disappointed. Dan and I decided to meet up for dinner on a Monday night at 7:30pm. It wasn’t at all crowded at that time, but there were still more people dining there than I would have thought – mostly Turkish families, which was a good sign. It’s a small place all right, but the owners have made the most of the long skinny space(could it have been a sandwich shop in its previous incarnation?). There’s a decent amount of seating and the décor is cheerful and pleasant, but the cashier area does seem a bit cramped by the front door. We were greeted warmly by the staff, and given complimentary pita bread(hot and fresh) and yogurt dip to start. We started things off with a Pechanga Pastry – deep-fried flat pocket filled with pastrami and cheese, yum. We decided to split a spicy kofta plate(excellent), and also a «home style» daily special, which was a beef and potato stew that came with rice, salad and bread. Everything tasted delicious, fresh and truly«home-made,» and the warm and welcoming atmosphere was fantastic. If you’re a fan of middle eastern food you should definitely give this place a try. STEPHJUDGEMENT: Great food and service in a homey, comfortable setting.

While visiting family over the holiday, we Unilocaled and came across this family owned Turkish restaurant that had glowing reviews and tickled our fancy. We like mom ‘n pop ethnic restaurants as they seem to often go above and beyond in both service and passion for their food. I was very pleased to see that this restaurant hit on all accounts and made for a very affordable and delicious lunch served politely and graciously by a waiter that I can only assume was also a family member. We decided to stop by for lunch on Saturday. The menu is in a point of transition so there are many items listed that are not available. However, what I was interested in was indeed being served, Spicy meat(forgive me for not exactly recalling what it was called). The lunch plate included rice, French fries, pickle, tomato, and several meat patties that were supremely delicious. We also got an appetizer of hummus and a couple refills of the complimentary pita bread. Their homemade lemonade is wonderful, though it does lack ice past the initial filling. Free refills are included. The wife had a Turkish coffee which is similar to an espresso and served in an elegant small cup and saucer. Once we got the bill, we were pleasantly surprised that there was a $ 9 discount due to lunch time period. This was completely unexpected. Our server, Eric, was extremely friendly and a gracious host that kept our glasses filled and bread replenished. The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated and extremely clean, including the restrooms. It is obvious that this family takes pride in their business and has a true passion for Turkish food. I cannot recommend them any more highly.

I read about this new Turkish place in the LA Times, that is located in Fountain Valley and serves lamb shank: I had to check it out! Mr. Kebap is on Bushard and Warner, in the same strip mall as previously reviewed Paul’s Coffee Shop(DDD curse). Unfortunately lamb shank was not on the menu on the Fri night we visited. We ordered patlicanli yogurtlama($ 5.95 — roasted eggplant & yogurt salad), kofta($ 13.95 — grilled beef patties), and filet mignon cube kebaps w/lamb fat($ 17.95 — no pic). The latter two come w/rice and green salad(kofta), or white bean salad(kebaps). First of all, the eggplant was excellent. You could really taste the roasted flavor, that contrasted well with the tartness of the yogurt. It was accompanied w/warm pita bread(sorry, forgot to take a pic). The bread was way better compared to nearby Istanbul Grill: 5 Stars. Secondarily, my kofta was really good. The meat was super tender, and seasoned nicely. In addition, the grilled veggies were crunchy and the rice was moist: 4 Stars. Lastly, the kebap was very tasty w/the pieces of lamb fat separating the cubes of beef. Additionally, the white bean salad was a good accompaniment to the rest of the plate: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, this is a small narrow place. Nonetheless, you can feel the warmth of the place. It was more homey vs Istanbul Grill: 4 Stars. On the other hand, the service was excellent. The waiters explained the dishes, and were very attentive. You felt like you were at someone’s home: 5 Stars. My experience here was much better compared to Istanbul Grill, where the dishes were hit and miss. I can’t wait to come back to this restaurant that opened in Aug 2015 to try the lamb shank!
