It seems like everyone associates Vietnamese cuisine with phở and mi has become the forgotten ugly stepsister to her noodle counterpart(phở). Growing up, I remember eating mi way more than phở and my favorite dish was mi vit tiem(Vietnamese style ramen with roast dug leg). I told my mom I was craving this dish and off to Tan Mi A Dong we went! Service is typical for a Vietnamese hole in the wall(rushed to order, food came before our drinks, difficult to flag down a waiter to bring us straws that he forgot) but who hasn’t experienced this at a Viet restaurant? And what does it matter when the food hits the spot?! My mi vit tiem was everything I remembered from my childhood — hearty broth, flavorful duck, plentiful veggies. Cash only, plentiful parking, cleanliness typical for Viet joints.

To be honest, the food is mediocre. What gets me fired is the service. I know my Vietnamese isn’t that good but my mom tried to order for us until the rude ass man told her to not order for us and that we must order it. As my 15 year old sister(who does not know any Viet at all) was struggling, he was like«you’re taking too long, I’m going to skip you» after all of us ordered he went back to her and as she tried her best to order in Viet, he got fed up and left. She’s only 15. Made her cry and made her be the last person to receive her food. We had to literally go up to the counter and ask for it. And after all of that he got all of our orders WRONG. This hasn’t been the first time.

Don’t let the 3 stars fool you. It was my 1st time here, but I ended up with a tummy ache and headache(reasons not from here). I just needed to eat because if I don’t eat on time I get these odd reoccurring headaches *knock on wood*. So about the soups — they are quite generous on the portion sizes. The small is already big enough. I got the beef meatball egg noodle soup. While it was good, I didn’t think it was as good as the Phở I wanted to have initially. There was this place locally so me and my buddy decided to go here. You do get a good deal for what it is though. Would I go here again? Yea sure! But next time if I felt like phở I’ll head to a Vietnamese restaurant instead of this place. It’s interesting, being white washed and not from around, they served Chinese noodle soup owned by Vietnamese family with a Vietnamese restaurant name lol. Nothing racist because I have many type of Asian friends and other races too. So like I thought it was a straight up Vietnamese restaurant at first. Overall ‘OK’ experience.

If you’re looking for great service go elsewhere but if you’re looking for pretty good egg noodles then look no further. I almost always get the MI A DONG $ 6.95 for a small bowl an extra dollar for a larger portion. MI A DONG consists of a combination of different meats ground pork, bbq pork, chicken, and fried shrimp, imitation crab, and fish balls. You have a choice of getting it with the broth or with the broth on the side. If you opt to do the dry noodle version with broth on the side the mix the noodles with oyster sauce to give it some extra flavor. I went with the noodles in the broth. The broth is very flavorful and not overly salty like other places. Im very sensitive to MSG and this place if they do use it is very minimal because I don’t feel all funky after eating here. I love their Noodles here they are very chewy which is a good thing and fresh. Portion sizes are great and they offer lots of veggies which is always a big plus. They also provide pickled jalapeños and garlic and don’t skimp on it like other places. Chinese donuts are available for an extra charge and is good when dipped in the broth. Cash only establishment. and again, not the best at service but hey if you don’t want to deal with workers just order out. Parking is plentiful in the plaza parking lot. I’ll be back when craving Mi.

OMG! HOWRUDECANYOUBE? The food may good here but the service is horrible! Beware that they may put a stranger next to you when they are busy without asking your permission or opinion. when order porridge, it may not come out like you asked. i order number 37 on their menu… which posted shrimps, squid, fish and chicken. I asked our waiter kindly not to put chicken in it. when it came out, there was liver, imitation crab and fish only in the porridge. i asked our waiter why is that in my food? He said that what iI ordered and did not even try to resolve the issue. instead, he was giving me a lecture… i know what i read on the menu. Unbelievable! i immediately told him i did not want it at all. time like this, there should be a negative star. they do not even deserve even one… What is the point?

Biggest most yumm’s Thai tea I have ever had. Pricing is very reasonable. The restaurant is clean and carries a chic vibe. The food tasted great and fresh.

This is a decent place if you are in the mood for some egg noodle soups. I usually get noodles with wontons and some pork. You can also feel healthy by putting a lot of lettuce into your soup which is pretty neat since it wilts and adds to the flavor and texture of the dish. The bread side dish is also good since you can dip it in your broth and then immediately eat it to get a crispy sensation with the soup juices coming out with each bite. My dad also orders a separate bowl with the pork bones and some meat which is really tender and delicious. Highly recommend you guys to try that. If you don’t eat too much, just order a plain bowl of noodles and just get the meat from the bones. You should check out this place at least once if you are in the area. It’s one of my go to places with my family during the weekend. Only reason it has three stars is that the place could be a by cleaner and better customer service. Overall, the food and experience is decent. Fusion tea bar is also in the same area so you can get your dessert right after your meal!

The Mi A tong which is the egg noodles with soup, was okay. The noodles were clumped, the fish balls didn’t taste very fresh, and the the place needs major updating. The broth was good, and probably the only thing good. But in a world where there are fresher cleaner places out there, this one did not give me a good impression.

After a long day I came here to eat with my kid and parents. It was about 5 pm and there were a few customers. I ordered the bowl of noodle soup. Specifically it was«Mi A Dong»(House special noodle soup). The house special is like a combination of everything thrown into it. The yellow noodle had pork, chicken, shrimp, and fish balls all in a bowl of steaming broth. I’m going to start off by saying this bowl of soup is a winner! What do I like about the meal? The broth of the soup was tasty! I added a little squirt of sriracha for a kick and the broth was perfect! This bowl of soup has flavor in every bite. The slices of pork were moist and thinly sliced. I like eating thinly sliced meat because it usually tastes better. The chicken thigh was roasted so it has a nice crunch to it. The bowl of «mi»(yellow noodle) was a pleasure to eat. It would taste even better in the winter time. I also had a chance to taste a small bowl of Mi Vit Tim(duck noodle soup). I had a small bowl of the duck soup. I really wasn’t in the mood to eat duck so I’ll have to revisit this review in the future. Here’s the low down… my family hasn’t eaten this specific dish at a restaurant for a long time because we figured out how to make it at home. We usually pack in the meat and seafood in every bowl. But here’s the thing, the bowl of noodles at this restaurant is almost better than the home cooking. The portions are really generous. I had a small bowl of soup and it was rather large! There are many noodle shops serving this yellow noodle, but this place is on the top of my list(for now)… :-) Food = delicious! Seating area = clean Service = average Restroom = so-so

Not our first choice of the day but we were tired of driving around for food and looking for parking on Chinese New Years and ran in here to stop our growling stomachs. Someone else commented on Mi La Cay as their top tier and I definitely agree but this place was still decent. It would have excelled but the egg noodles seemed like they were older or I guess dryer than I’d like so I kinda regret ordering them dry style. Their mustard provided at the table was awesome though and it really saved my meal.

I ordered #8 mi a dong with soup and the noodles were clumped together and it tasted uncooked. There was also a fly in my water.

I work nearby so this is my good to lunch spot when I want mi vit quay kho(which is all the time)! They have a variety of different noodle bowls that you can order wet or dry; and some rice dishes. I only come here for the mi vit quay kho and this review is mostly only about my favvvv(but I think I did get mi A Dong once). My family has been going to Mi La Cay since forever but recently starting going to A Dong again because they can just lunch with me here. Mi La Cay’s quality has gone down, especially with the amount of duck they give you. A Dong, on the other hand, has been consistent. I get a food coma every single time from eating their small/regular bowl of noodles and have to go back to work after lunch exceptually sleepy. They give a lot of duck and noodles in each bowl. The sauce they add to the dry noodles also keeps it flavorable but be sure to add to ot sate?/satay? or chili oil to it and a little bit of the broth and mix up and coat the noodles! I always ask for a pair of scissors to cut up the duck and noodles too. The fried shrimp wonton thing is the best too! Save if for the end. My only complaint would be the shortage of dau chao quay or chinese donuts?!? I always come at lunch and most days, they are out already by 1pm, and then I cry. Those fluffy oily things are imperative to a good meal, especially when dipped in the broth or even dipped in a little soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil concoction! I’ve always had quick and semi friendly service here. I see the same few servers and older guy who won’t treat you wrong if you’re a regular and but also don’t seem like ones to treat anyone wrong. They might not crack a smile or seem like they’re in a hurry but that’s fine if you want efficient service and its an Asian eatery! They’ll take your order quick and get your food out quick. Its a huge bowl of noodles but I’m never late back to work because of slow service. Pay at the counter when you’re done and its cash only! Ps, last time I was there, they had a Vietnamese version of Family Feud playing!

The house special combo, egg noodle soup(Mi A Dong) is terrific. It comes with ground meat, bbq pork, chicken, fried shrimp, imitation crab, and liver. The broth is terrific. Portions are large and filling. The décor is simple and distinctly Vietnamese. Vietnamese news channels and music constantly play in the background. There’s also a lot of seating so it’s good for groups. Generally there is no wait and food is prepared very quickly. On my last visit, food came out three minutes after we ordered. They’re open 6 days a week(closed on Mondays) from 9am to 9pm.

My family wanted to get noodle soup so we decided to try some place new(although my dad has already been here with his friend). The waiter we had was pretty rude. The restaurant was not even crowded when we came and he was basically rushing us to order. He seemed pretty mad at the world or something. The food was below par compared to other Mì places around the area. We all ordered either the Mì A Dong or Mì Vit Quay. The noodles were very chewy and the chewing definitely made my mouth tired after 10 minutes into the dish. Also, the dishes as a whole were very bland. I don’t think I’ll be coming back, sorry.

Mi A Dong is my go to spot for egg noodles. I can come in, order to go and be on my merry way. It’s right next to Denny’s and has plenty of parking. Typical Little Saigon service and straight to the point. You order, you eat and you leave. I usually get their Mi Ga Quay Kho(i.e., Fried Chicken Egg Noodles with soup on the side). It’s pretty good. I like it. The portion is pretty large if you order a large. Go figure. The noodles are chewy, the chicken is moist and the skin is crispy. The soup on the side comes out pretty hot, which is how I like it. It’s cheap but relatively more expensive than Mi La Cay. Overall, I like Mi A Dong. It provides me a quick meal and it serves its purpose.

Okay, this place tasted a lot better the first time. This was my second visit to Mi A Dong and I was quite dissapointed. Took my parents in here for a quick lunch on our day off and the place was quite busy. We got seated immediately to our table and the server took our orders. Service was quite horrible at this place at it seems like the server did not enjoy what he was doing. He was constantly lookng around while taking our orders and he seemed very aggitated for some reason. I dont care if youre the owner or a regular server, you should always treat your paying customer with some decency since theyre the one thats keeping your business afloat. I was quite dissapoted with Mi A Dong and their service to begin with. Now to their food. For some reason Mi A Dong tasted a lot better my first time trying it. The price for their food was very reasonable as $ 5 can get you a bowl of noodle. I ordered the Mi A Dong co without any soup. It comes with a variety of meat and a side of soup for your order. The noodle did not blend too well with the topping they threw on the bowl. The sauce for the noodle itself was way too salty for my taste. I was quite disappointed with both the food and their service. Only upside for my visit this time was the cost of their food and the cleanliness of their restaurant. Other than those two factors, I would prefer going to some other mi or hu tieu places that offer better food with the same asian service.

I love that this eatery is located adjacent to Bolsa on Brookhurst and Edinger so you don’t necessarily have to deal with all that mad traffic just for some tasty eats. My FAVE bowl of noodles is their hu tieu Mi Tho with clear rice noodles. Fresh and fragrant broth allows the accoutrements to simmer undisturbed since the thin slices of pork and ribs have been cooked in this subtly sweet soup. Boiled shrimp, liver, quail eggs add to the mix garnished with their signature fried shrimp wonton for crunchy texture. They offer a plate of leafy chrysanthemum garland herbs«tan ô» that I roughly strip and spread atop the soup for a slightly sweet, bitter, but overall super fresh flavor. Half a lime, tons of hoisin/sriracha/sate mix with a dollop of hot Chinese mustard and I’m in noodle heaven baby. I like to call this bowl the hangover’s instant cure. Divine.

Must try their Hu Tieu Mi A Dong! Ever since my mom took me here to try it, I’ve been addicted! Their soup is so good! When you eat it, you don’t taste the saltyness from all the MSG like most noodle places down Bolsa. I love how it comes with a fried shrimp wonton on top as well. Thats my favorite part so I always eat it last! I brought my bf here and he loves it too. we no longer go to our usual noodle places(Mi La Cay or Mi Vy Da) when we crave for noodles anymore! Today however, we needed to get in a quick lunch before we head out to work… So we decided to come here. I got the Hu Tieu A Dong(just the white thick noodles) because I wasn’t in the mood for any yellow noodles. I got it with the soup. because you can either order it wet or dry. and my bf got the Mi A Dong(just the yellow noodles) but dry.(soup on the side). When there is the word«A Dong» next to it, it basically means their special. Which comes with both meat and seafood. They give just enough amount meat and seafood. I always have left overs. Theres two sizes to choose from small or large. I say go with the small its a huge bowl! But yes, since it’s getting cold and you may be craving something soupy. COMEHERE! You won’t be disappointed. ** Another bonus: the place is pretty clean. You wont be eating a a run down tiny restaurant like most asian food places. and the servers are nicer here as well ** TRYIT! ** I believe it’s cash only… **

My mom saw this restaurant advertised on the Vietnamese channel and insisted that I take her here for lunch, so I did… despite the fact that I believe delicious food does not need advertising =/ Dau Chao Quay($.75): This is a deep fried chinese donut and the ones sold here were smaller than usual. Being a fried item, I really disliked how it was not fresh at all. Oily foods for breakfast is a no no… Xiu Mai($ 1.95): This is a steamed pork meat ball. This is definitely my favorite item I’ve tried here. It was delicious! Mi A Dong($ 5.50 for the small): This egg noodle soup had a good broth. I like that the broth was not oily. However I felt like the egg noodle was a bit undercooked. In addition I was not a fan of the imitation crab or the low quality chicken. The one thing I really liked about this bowl of soup was the floating shrimp on a dumpling wrapper(no clue what it’s called)… But yeah… I’m not a fan O_O’ Overall, my mom was excited to see the Xiu Mai on the menu! There was a place we used to go to but they were only open during really early hours. This place might be our new Xiu Mai spot. We even ordered two portions to-go for my dad. However, I would not come back here for the Dau Chao Quay or the Mi A Dong. I think Luc Dinh Ky has better egg noodle dishes that are both tastier and better quality.
