Great ambiance, a mix of a book store and a living room. Good sandwiches, I loved their chicken salad! Really nice fresh smoothies and friendly staff. But take your time because service on this Saturday afternoon was quite slow. Therefore only four stars. And bring your coat because they have a very well working air conditioner!

Really love the ambiance here. Warm, cozy, inviting and dimly lit. The iced lattes are fantastic, and so are the smoothies. They have a good food selection, from pastries to sandwiches. And, unlike most coffee houses I know, a good beer selection and a fairly well stocked bar. There is also nice seating outside on the sidewalk, directly across from the old Capitol.

Solid cup of coffee! Espresso is pretty good and the latte was also good. I would say all of the drinks are just slightly week but not bad at all.

This place reminds me of a mix between Charlie Browns and Third Street Stuff… in Lexington. Both places are cool and are a must try if you’re ever in my hometown. I was in Frankfort, just for a short afternoon road trip to look at the tulips around the Capitol. I wondered into this place after stopping in at Capital Cellars, which is next door. I ended up liking this place more than Capital Cellars. So, we decided to stay for dinner too. I ordered a white wine and the Southwestern salad. You heard right, wine white at a coffee shop! They also had cocktails and craft beers too. The salad was ok, nothing too spectacular. They were out of lettuce, so spinach it was. I’m a spinach fan, so I liked it. After we finished our dinner, we sat out front. There were only a few tables, but there were locals sitting out at the Capital Cellar’s tables, so it gave it a busier feel. The inside wasn’t really busy and we didn’t have to wait in a line to order, so we must’ve caught them on a hit day. All in all, I think it’s a good spot to stop if you’re in the area strolling into the other surrounding hot spots.

Good coffee, food, and tasty pastries(but the selection was limited). A long wait for service and street parking is very limited. Better for a walk-in visit when you aren’t in a hurry.

Short menu of offerings but some good salad and wrap options for the health focused/veg-heads. I got a strawberry goat cheese salad and my hubby got a chicken wrap. They had a good choice of coffees, teas and smoothies and I went with an iced chai tea, which was nicely spiced. While waiting for lunch, we wandered around books and admired the unique setup — include a dressed-up skeleton and some psychedelic looking art. A very cool, independent little shop!

For a small town, this is a nice little café. They serve a pretty good cup of coffee, have a sizable menu, friendly staff, and the location can’t be beat. On one side is Poor Richard’s Books, a fabulous little independent bookshop. On the other side is Completely Kentucky, where you can shop the works of Kentucky artisans. In the summer, you can sit outside and take in the street view and the Old Capitol building.

This may be the only place open on a Sunday afternoon in downtown Frankfort! I stopped in for a coffee. Just ordered a regular brewed dark roast coffee. It was pretty good. My boyfriend ordered a spiced chai latte and now that was really good. Very well spiced. And hot. Nice how the coffee shop is connected inside to the bookstore and a nice artsy gallery next door on each side. After we had our coffee we checked out both stores.

Delicious, fresh sandwiches and coffee, great friendly service and a fantastic vibe. I love the bookshelves lining the walls, the musical instruments everywhere and the comfy atmosphere. This is the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and a book, curl up in an armchair and spend a rainy afternoon.

After reading some of the other reviews of this place, I expected iffy service. But I was downtown and wanted something different than the same old Starbucks offerings. I was pleasantly surprised to find I was treated with courtesy and service was prompt, while the actual making of my drink took a little while. My frappé was enjoyable, but to be honest, I’d come just for the people watching. :)

best shot of espresso i’ve had in a city of ~25,000. good bourbon on the shelf, the ham biscuit tasted like the pig knew the owners, and the vintage encyclopediae are almost as compelling as the wifi. beautiful setting in quaint downtown frankfort, to boot.

This is definitely one of my favorite places to go in Frankfort! They have a great menu with some pretty unique options. It’s super cozy inside, with low lighting and comfortable seating. If you can play, go ahead and grab one of the guitars hanging on the wall. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy. Plus, it’s perfect for any tourist as it’s right between a great book store and gift shop!

Very very cute café! Connected to a book store and gift shop. Has a very home-y feel. They have coffee, soups, sandwiches, paninis, and baked goods. I love that they hear your muffins up in the microwave so they’re warm when u get them. The Thai soup was also pretty good. I think they have them every Friday. And it gets pretty packed for lunch. They even have 2 guitars and a banjo hanging on the wall for you to play if you want. Staff is very friendly. Would definitely come back again for lunch.

I had a *lucky leprechaun latte* which was an amazingly delicious way to appease my silly love of themed things! How could it not be delicious when you combine mint, Irish cream, and chocolate with espresso and milk though?! Wonderful! I also had an egg baby with hot sauce. Great coffee. Great food.

I live in San Francisco, where cozy café culture is very popular. I stumbled upon this little place during one of my yearly visits in the summer, and went as often as I could after that day. In one month, I probably stopped by 10 – 15 times. The breakfast bagels and blackberry truffle frappes are outstanding, and the cashiers and baristas are incredibly friendly. Even the few times that I came in 5 minutes before closing, none of the cashiers were irritated in the slightest, and were happy to take my order. In my eyes, Coffee Tree absolutely deserves five stars. I would recommend this place for a relaxing way to start your day or a calm way to end your night. This place is a little slice of home to me and I look forward to going back.

I used to love this place when I was a kid, before the great hipster invasion of 2005. From then on, it was basically a turnstyle for snotty«i’m better than you» hires and lackluster service. Here’s a hint Coffeetree, hire people with good attitudes, just because they wear horn rimmed black glasses doesn’t mean they’re good at customer service.

This place was a life saver when traveling through town/the Bourbon Trail on a Sunday. We were looking for a nice, local lunch and everything coming up on Unilocal was closed! I thought the food was good, service was friendly, but with only one person working, it did take a bit to get our orders, but we weren’t in a huge hurry; and we browsed the book store and shop flanking this place.
