Trotters Bar and Grill

Where do I begin. I love trotters for hosting parties or eating in! The food is so delicious and it’s a really fun atmosphere! I’ve only gotten it delivered once and wouldn’t again! We ordered two cheeseburgers and fries (came cold), an order of wings (still warm!) and an order of fried calamari (also very cold)! The delivery took 1 hour and 45 minutes when I live about 10 – 15 minutes max. Overall would come back to dine in but not delivery.

So I went to the movies down the block with my boyfriend one Sunday evening and decided to go to this bar about a block away. The Food was soooo good. We ordered calamari, potato skins and he got a shrimp pasta dish. HIDDEN treasure. Passed it all the time and never went in. We have to go back. I wasn’t that impressed with the drinks but maybe I didn’t order the right one? …Try this spot!

Only had some appetizers and they hit 2/​3, which is not bad!
May have been the best Coconut Shrimp I had in my life, fantail down. The Chicken Q. Was very good with fresh condiments to Compliment, and although I had high hopes for the In-​House prepared Jalapeño
poppers, they were nothing special and had something in them that we did not enjoy.
Staff and Servers are great, and I will be back.

Older crowd but great food and the staff is excellent. We go for dinner and drinks often and they offer great specials! We haven’t been disappointed yet. Football season comes around and we order trays of wings and appetizers at a great price. We love it

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat and drink me and my buddys love it here. The staff is friendly food is great and there are great special all week.

Food was ok! I had the fish and chips. Got Onion rings instead of fries, frozen not fresh made. Asked for extra tartar sauce, never got it. Fish also Tasted like frozen not fresh made no crunch. Three hungry little kids had to ask 2x to bring their stuff first. Service was Meh

Took a friend from out of town here a few months ago and was pretty embarrassed by the end of the meal. The food was very bad, under cooked burger, and questionable looking sauce. Bought it to the attention of the server, and it took a LONG time to get a new one. My friends meal she did not even eat after the first bite, there was some black mush in her sandwich and the bread seemed off. I asked the server to please take her meal off the bill and she said it was «too late» too. You’d think they’d at least treat us to a single drink for our displeasure, let alone one per guest. Nope. About $ 10 for a glass of wine each, all 2 of which made the final bill as well. The drinks from the bar in general were EXTREMELY over priced. Won’t be returning back.

I really love the atmosphere here. It’s a bit of an older crowd here, the music is tolerable, and the food is decent. My fish and chips were tasty, G’s shepherd’s pie was only meh. The desert and coffee were good. The drinks were awesome and they have a huge selection of beer, wine, and booze. And despite the issues with the mics, even the live band was pretty good.
The reason for the lowered rate is because of something that happened there. We started off with a great server (who I now call ILF — insignificant little fly) and he was nice and hooked us up hard core, but then G did get a little loud and a little drunk, and the establishment worked together to make our night turn from good to worse. The minute G got a bit louder, the bartender’s attitude and demeanor changed; he was cold and not really willing to serve us. They treated me like a victim because he was with me and so they made my drinks stronger and his weaker (and I was driving). They kept moving their security closer to us. And then G ordered Jalapeño poppers, which are supposed to be pretty hot. The people around us who got them said they were pretty hot, but tolerable. G could not even breathe when he got his and that’s saying a lot; he puts the hottest hot sauce on his breakfast even. Then I heard our server snickering with the others, bragging about how he told the kitchen to make the dish unbearably hot for him. This of course does work in his favor, because it caused G to have to drink more beer and so he could charge us more. At the end, when we got the bill, I realized that ILF had not comped us much because he deemed us a «trouble,» which we were certainly not.
It’s really a shame that they cannot handle so-​called unruly customers because had they handled things better, I may have been inclined to write a better review, tell my friends about the place, and bring good business there. Now, I’m not sure I can; the experience left me feeling a bit unsafe to stay there.

ORDERED TWICE IN THE PAST 3 DAYS AND BOTH TIMES MY FOOD ORDER WAS WRONG! EXTREMELY WRONG!
I CANT eat cheese and specified so.
I clearly indicated on the online ordering form to NOT put cheese.
and I even CALLED IN to make sure they understood my directions and to state I CANNOT have cheese…
WHAT HAPPENS!?! I get CHEESE smothered ALL over my order.
granted they were gracious and apologetic and replaced it with the correct order.
HOWEVER waiting an EXTRA 15 minutes wasn’t in the game plan and as a consumer I shouldn’t have to wait for food while the rest of my food waits in the kitchen getting EXTREMELY COLD and further and further from optimal freshness.
but it doesn’t stop there.
gave them a second chance. ordered the SAME exact items.
1. they over charged me for extras that they did NOT charge me for in the prior order.
2. they claim they were charging me $ 2 for an extra bbq sauce and honey mustard. NO EXTRA BBQ SAUCE! NONE
3. they charged me for substituting cheese for eggs. when I received the sandwich I was NOT given the kind of eggs I specified. EVEN THOUGH I called in again to make SURE they knew EXACTLY what I needed as a customer. my food was STILL wrong!
4. when I received the food it was a disheveled mess of onions and meat slapped together. NOT AT ALL WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE THE FIRST TIME I ORDERED –_​_​_​_​_​–
my eggs were cooked through like scrambled eggs! they were SUPPOSED to be very runny sunny side up.
(FYI…I CANNOT eat cooked through eggs they make me very sick… just as cheese makes me sick!)
5. when I called in to let them know my discrepancy I was met with extreme attitude. and was told specifically that «only uncooked eggs make people sick. not overcooked» (I was basically told I was a liar and that he knows MY body and medical history better than I do)
6. I was told by the manager in his exact words. «DONT TELL ME YOU DIDNT GET YOUR ORDER THE WAY YOU WANT IT. WE ONLY MESSED UP ON THING» …
I did not know that managers were allowed to speak to their paying customers with such disdain.
WORST ATTITUDE AND RESPECT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS EVER! SO PRETENTIOUS!
SUFFICE IF TO SAY… ii will NEVER be ordering from this «establishment» again.
GRUBHUB WAS SOOOO DISMAYED AT MY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE… THAT YHEY CONTACTED THE RESTAURANT AND GIFTED ME A FREE $ 15 OFF PROMO ON MY NEXT PURCHASE.
*if not for grubhub I would be left with a VERY BAD taste in my mouth… literally*

I’ve ignored this bar/​restaurant several times because of my bias with the connotations of OTB & associated vagrants.
How we ended up here: the local beer garden was closed (personally I think it should be open 24 hrs) but a friend and I just wanted a place to have a couple of drinks and binge on any food we could find. We haphazardly pulled into the parking lot and went in thru the back entrance.
First off we were greeted with genuine welcoming smiles from the wait staff (practically unheard of in NY). Then our waitress Helen was as sweet and friendly as can be. They have a fully stocked bar which was exactly what we were looking for on a Wednesday night and to my surprise no stumbling drunk dirty OTB vagrants loitering around (did I mention that I had a bias?).
We ordered appetizers (chicken wings, pretzel, sliders, & sweet potato fries) — everything was amazing. Those were some of the best wings I’ve had in a long time. I’m actually drooling for more as I’m writing this review. It’s family friendly so now we can take our kids for brunch or dinner. I am about to wrap up this review and head there for lunch :-)
Another neighborhood gem — proves you don’t have to travel far or pay inflated prices for really good food.

Was here twice this past week, it was THAT good! Busy place, but on point. Great serve, delicious food, lots of things happening there, Taco Tuesday, Karokee night, paint night, lots to bring you in and great food and service to keep you coming back. Sports Bar/​Restaurant with a great vibe. I met the manager and he’s a sweetheart too.

I love this place! Service is very attentive and down to earth. Great tap beer, nice abiance, food is amazing with reasonable prices… not loud. a great date night or family meal. A must try! I love the variety of the menu, and the chef is talented… yummy

I really believe Franklin Square to be the Long Island capital of pub/​sports bar/​grill type places — I can think of at least 6 off the top of my head. I would say Trotters is one of the better ones around.
We stopped in for late lunch on «Football» sunday where there was a bunch of games on all the TVs in here and the most of the patrons dressed in football jerseys. We were seated at a comfortable high top.
My wife had the BLT and she really enjoyed it — it was packed, very generously, with bacony goodness. I went with the fish tacos and found them to be decent. Before I ordered I asked if they came with any sides — the server said no, that I wouldn’t need them. He was wrong because I could have used a little something to compliment them. Also at $ 15 bucks for 3 I felt they were a bit pricey for tacos only. The flavor was good, but the fish was lacking in what I was served.
They had some sunday specials — inexpensive beer and sandwich combos that looked good so you can get a deal here. The service is also very good and friendly — no complaints there. The décor is nice and clean — typical, classic wood grain throughout. I would come back, but probably order something else.

From start to finish our meal was excellent. We were immediately greeted by a hostess and sat right away. No sooner did we have drinks on the table! The environment and service was a great match for the food and drinks. Highly recommended!

Although there are many similar pub /​grills across Long Island, only a few can compare at the level and refinement of Trotter’s. Excellent service from every part of the staff, and they were all happy. Even the young guy sweeping crud from the floor was smiling and talking with his co-​workers. My point here is the staff interaction never gets out of hand. They work well together, and our waitress, bus boys and servers all did great efficient work, kudos to them.
So, next comes the food. Again, typical of the genre, but executed at a high level. Beautifully presented and delicious tasting. Nachos to start, not overly spicy & just right portion for two. Main courses of Fish Tacos for me and the wife tried, and loved the Crabmeat Stuffed Shrimps over Risotto in Lemon Herbed Butter sauce with fresh Spinach (off the specials menu — call for availability). Tacos were excellent. Dessert came in the form of an apple crisp that I liked more then my wife, not overtly sweet it was warm with a scoop of good quality vanilla ice cream on top. As we were finishing up a live band started playing soft rock from the late 60’s and 70’s. So we hung around, digesting our food and singing along to classic songs from Clapton, Eagles, & The Grateful Dead. The total cost came in at $ 70 for the two of us, including tip.
A fun note: They have live music every Friday night beginning around 9:00 or 10pm.
So, if you are seeking out a lively pub and grill, with a more «mature» or refined menu & atmosphere, this might be the right spot for you. Also, their website is very helpful with lots of information, photos and online menu. A great experience.

This place is awesome… the food is absolutely delicious, customer service is exemplary. When u walk in this establishment its like visiting with family. All the staff is extremely friendly… Nick the owner is always available and approachable, bartenders Bobby, John, Bear, Kylie, Nat and Nick are all amazing.
The manager Santina is attentive and makes each customer feel like they are the only one there which is a fantastic feeling. My favorite dish hands down is the Seafood Fra Diavolo all fresh seafood in an amazing tomato sauce with fresh herbs… AMAZING!!!
This place is a must do, over and over again. Their draft is always clean, cold and refreshing.
Live band/​DJ at least 3 times a week…
I absolutely love this place…

I had the most delicious fish tacos from here.
The fish had just the right amount of crispy on the outside whilst still being incredibly juicy. The slaw, hot sauce and cream sauce were solid. And they did not skimp at all on my delivery. Everything was delicious!
New management means they are out to impress and they totally did.

Ate here twice with my boyfriend based on recommendations from my sister and my boyfriend’s coworker. We came on a Friday evening both times and was always seated right away. They don’t have a cocktail menu but could pretty much make anything. My boyfriend had the long Island iced tea and I had a berry martini. They were made to perfection. My boyfriend said it’s the best one he’s ever had. I don’t remember what my boyfriend had for appetizers and entrees but I had the steamed mussels in white wine sauce and the portobello burger the first time. The second time I had the stuffed portobello appetizer and the steamed mussels again. Omg! The food was beyond amazing. Everything tasted perfect. There wasn’t a thing to complain about. Our tab ran us about $ 80+ before tip because we did have a few rounds of drinks but for the food and friendly service, it was well worth it.

This place is the greatest!!! I had my baby shower here yesterday in the room on the side, it was amazing the staff and managers were all so friendly. My room was set up when I arrived. my waiters Harry and Stephanie were amazing to work with they even helped me with the décor. my guest raved about how amazing the brunch was. They really made my party extra special. I love them. Not only will I be back for causal dinner. I can’t wait to have my next party there.

Excellent mussels, burgers, salads and drinks. New owner knows what he’s doing. Service is fantastic.
