So, I’ve been having a hard time finding locations for dinner parties for my fussy friends. But my good friend Lynne D hooked me up with a place that completely satisfies my needs and the needs of my penta– and hexagenarian pals. She’s been in a bad place recently but once the tin foil helmet stopped the Unilocal and gubbermint from stealing her reviews and thoughts, she’s really been back in form. Anywho, after having terrible experiences at such disreputable joints like Rolf and Daughters, Silly Goose and Husk, I’ve finally found a place that suits all of our needs. High points: Has meat Deals with assholes Meat cooked inside meat covered in meat Can serve 18 people simultaneously without causing a fuss Soft, soft elevator music Tapioca pudding available on demand Can handle bullshit No crazy service charges for being insufferable twits Reviews that don’t get filtered Will schedule gatherings of pretentious jackholes here again as soon as I get a chance for some evenings of food, fun and frivolity. To heck with Dinner Lab, I’m bringing my pals in for the Early Bird special!

Love this place, good food, good waiters, nice atmosphere, only problem is they need a bigger place, because they have a lot of customers

Where do I begin… we decided to go to GC for Thanksgiving, instead of cooking, what a mistake. First, the line was out the door and down the sidewalk, that wasn’t a problem, so much. It was so crowded, you had to stand in line for everything, people lined up for the grill, we’re blocking people from the salad bar and you didn’t know which line began where. There was food all over the floor, all over the bars, all over the supposedly«clean» plates, soup cups and utensils… even all over the cooks and severs. I guess they call themselves doing portion control with the small plates and soup cups, they look like kiddie plates or something for your daughter’s doll house and tea parties. Food was scarce… how are you going to run out of Thanksgiving food so early in the evening??! Customers were yelling, because they ran out of dressing and when one customer asked, one of the cooks yelled, «We don’t have anymore more!» There were countless food items that were low or completely empty. I understand the restaurant was crowded, but they should have prepared and been better staffed. The lil umpa lumpa manager, in my opinion, was prejudice and quite rude. He stood there, looking like a blueberry, people watching, not trying to control the chaos or help his employees with all the empty serving dishes and upset customers. The ham was cold, not lukewarm, cold, as though it was taken out the frig and sat on the counter and became room temp. The grilled chicken was so tough, it could have doubled as a deadly weapon, I couldn’t cut it with a knife. The mac n chz was awful, I’m not sure that was actual chz the pasta noodles were floating in, it was like soup, I put it in a bowl, bc I knew it would float the rest of my food, had I put it on a plate. The only thing I enjoyed was the salad bar and the peanut butter cookies, you can’t mess those two things up. All of the hot foods I put on my plate, stayed on my plate, it was truly awful, I’m sure there was a lot of wasted food that night and many others. I get this is a reasonably priced buffet, but there has to be more than just a salad to enjoy for $ 12.99. We will not return to this restaurant.

I had been to a Golden Corral in Centennial, CO a few months ago and had a great experience. The Cool Springs location was really bad! The place was dirty, most of the stations were understaffed and needed a lot of the food replenished and counters wiped off. Most of the food we put on our plates didn’t taste good and went to waste. The best part of the meal was diet Pepsi. I also saw a boy cough on the fried chicken and the adult with him didn’t tell him to cover his mouth. Don’t waste your money or risk your health!

I was in Jonesville, Va visiting a friend and the only thing out their to really eat was fast food like Captain D’s or McDonalds(they leave a funny aftertaste in my mouth that makes me sick) I wanted real food, so this was the first Golden Corral I ever went to and I was expected to be wooed and and impressed like the people in the commercials lol, I felt full just seeing all the food out on display… I only eat chicken, crab, fish and shrimp and once in a while calamari and this day in particular their was a larger selection for the seafood and I was happy… because I was starving. The mac and cheese and the chicken was lacking flavor. Overall the customer service was good but the serving dinnerware and cups needs to be updated.

My fiancé and I decided to give Golden Corral a try tonight for dinner… and I’m regretting the decision. The restaurant was messy, and there wasn’t much food to choose from. Pretty much every area had empty stations, so it was a bit of a wait for the staff to refill the food. The quality of the food was not that great. The macaroni and cheese pretty much tasted like plain pasta with no cheese on it. The salad bar was mediocre… not much to choose from due to empty stations, but their grilled chicken was pretty good. The only regular food that I mainly liked was their pizza and their kielbasa sausage, which was tasty and had a bit of a kick to it that I enjoyed. Even the dessert bar was not that great. I tried their chocolate fountain that they were advertising so much, and I didn’t like it. I did like their chocolate chip cookies though, which were fresh out of the oven when I was at the dessert bar. I also treated myself to some vanilla frozen yogurt with hot fudge. All in all, I don’t think I will be returning.

I really wanted to like this place, honest. However, aside from being poorly staffed behind the counter, especially the salad bar, the food was just really inconsistent. Honestly, even Asihi is better than this place and that is saying something(see my review of Asihi. First, the salad bar was very poorly maintain with many items in desperate need of replenishment. For its large size, there was only one person working behind the counter… not smart. Strike One. Second, the mac n cheese was barely edible… honestly I have had better at Captain D’s and that is not even anywhere near the best. It just tasted like pasta with processed cheese sauce. Processed cheese is not cheese in my opinion, I call it processed crud, but that is just me. Strike 2 Third, the okra tasted funny… it tasted like it had been cooked in onions or something. No okra flavor what-so-ever to be had, and far to crispy. The steak was okay, but barely seasoned and the Sierra Mist did not taste right. How do you mess up soda? Strike 3 All n all not the greatest experience and I don’t plan on returning. But they are on the money for one thing, for just over $ 10, you do get a lot of food and items, that for the most part would cost twice as much at a steak house or seafood restaurant. However, you also get said items at far below half the quality of it’s more expensive counterparts.

Never thought I would write a review about Golden Corral, probably because I never thought I would eat at one. Well, If I am rating this on quantity and quality BASEDONPRICE, I’m right on with 4 stars. Look, if you have boys that eat you out of house and home, take them here. They can eat $ 50 worth of food for only $ 10. I never, ever, ever get my money’s worth when it come to buffets, because I can’t seem to bring myself to eat most of the junk, but since my daughter is under 4 she shares my plate and we seem to make it work. It costs us less than most fast food, or casual dinning restaurant in the area. I will admit I only go when my fiancé begs me, but I am becoming less resistant as time goes on.

I knew this was a bad idea… there are a lot of food-type items yet nothing to eat. Don’t let your buddies talk you into this one… you know you have seen every one of them eat last night’s pizza out of the garbage can.

It’s Buffet food. Cheap, something for all the kids, just what you would expect. Pretty good for what it is.

I remember when my family first moved here from England and my parents were fascinated with the all you can eat buffets. We had never seen anything like it. I still am kind of in awe of the idea. But the ones that were around then, Shoney’s and Ponderosa, were the epitome of cheap buffet food, you know, pudding and meatloaf and iceberg salads with bacos, that think of thing. I expected much the same from Golden Corral, but for ten dollars, you actually get a decent buffet. They have steaks and burgers and fried and rotisserie chicken, meatballs, fried shrimp and amazing mashed potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised, and oh so full when I left. They also have a dessert bar for the sweet-toothed. I snagged a macaroon on my way out. This would be a great place to go with kids too.
