So called owner Ricky is very unprofessional and rude, he took a fun place and turned it into a morgue, I hear the food quality has diminished, avoid if you can

Never. Ever. Again. Food was meh. Environment was awful. 18% gratuity? For what? The beer we had that was sitting in kegs for how long?! Once again, never again.

I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy. The loaded baked potato salad was horrible. The pork BBQ was disgusting and I found a bone. The mac & cheese was cold. The service was okay but the food was not worth the 18% gratuity.

While visiting Tennessee, I stopped in here for lunch with a friend this past week. His parents recommended we try here and we were glad we did. I got a brisket sandwich with bull strings. I loved the sandwich and the bull strings were delicious! We shared fried pickles, which the portions were huge! They were super hot when they came out, so don’t try to eat them too fast. My friend got the pork, sausage, corn on the cob and the loaded potato salad. The potato salad was a big hit. The waitress was super friendly and made our experience a pleasant one. I just wish there was some live music playing, but there weren’t many people there for lunch, so I can understand why there may not have been. I also wish we sat outside, but it was really hot out so the air conditioning was much appreciated.

Our dinner was terrible. My family used to go to Mickey Roo’s all the time for the great Texas bbq. We found out it is under new management and we will definitely not be going back. We ordered cheese fries with brisket. The fries had a runny cheese sauce and the brisket was bland, boiled beef. We had cheeseburgers which were fine but nothing to write home about. We ordered coleslaw for a side which was bland and dry. I agree with the review that said the plates made you feel like you were in a cafeteria. We are sad to see that the quality had declined so much. Mickey Roo’s used to be a Franklin staple.

Hit the hot cakes as a side… Pure money. Plus live music with some barbecue… What can you say.

NEVERAGAIN! A large group of us were there at around 5:00 to celebrate a birthday. I think the sound system has one volume, BLOW-YOUR-EARDRUMS-OUT-TOO-LOUD! We couldn’t hear each other talk, & supposedly the band didn’t start until 8:00. I asked the bartender if there was any way to get the sound turned down, she pointed at the owner & she went & asked him… she came back to me & said, «He said no.» REALLY??? Who does that? Our group wrapped up our drinks, paid, & left. As we left, I saw two other tables of people holding their hands over their ears. I’m not some old fart who doesn’t like loud music, I just don’t like it when we’re trying to talk & eat. And I don’t like leaving dinner w/tinnitus in my ears.

Ordered pulled pork plate, $ 10 and have to say new owner has reduced quality. Bbq ok but not as good as before, quantity went way down. Beans tasted like Vancamps and potato salad was strange mix of something I cannot explain. Don’t call it potato salad when it’s not. Will not return. We stopped in for a drink about two weeks ago and one stall in woman’s bathroom was out of order, again same stall was out of order in women’s bathroom my wife said And had to wait for the bathroom this trip also, does it really take that long to fix bathroom. We ate at the bar and the owner came over and was talking to the party next to us and was talking about how he was growing his hair to give it to locks of love, that is a great thing to do but he needs to worry less about his hair and more about his shitters.

NEVER again! I think Mickey Roo’s has a new owner. The menu has changed completely– Prices went UP portions went DOWN. The décor has changed as well and looks pretty awful. Chairs were very uncomfortable. The food was less than superior quality– most items were either dry or greasy, and served on plates that remind you of a hospital cafeteria. We used to go here a lot, but we will never be back.

Best Texas BBQ near Nashville by far! Great environment and since new ownership 3 weeks ago, service improved and the brisket is ridiculous! I’ve had Texas BBQ in Austin and this is just as good. Highly recommended.

I recently had dinner and drinks at Mickey Roos with a large party of friends after a local event in Franklin. I had the brisket tacos which were fantastic and my husband ordere the pulled pork and ribs which were off the chain. I had never been there before, but will definitely be back!!!

I feel like this place has somewhat of an identity crisis. Inside it was very inviting and typical«BBQ joint» décor. Outside seemed geared more towards a bar type scene, lots of drinking and cigarette smoking occurring in that area. They offered live music while I was there and it seems to be a nightly occurrence. The food was okay. I had the brisket plate with cole slaw and the regular baked beans. Great portion sizes but some parts lacked flavor. I enjoyed the«chunky» style of cole slaw but it lacked in taste and sauce. I felt like I was just eating big chunks of cabbage for the most part. The beans were pretty good and the brisket was smokey with a good flavor. Service seemed to be the biggest downside, I only saw two servers and one bartender while I was there. Our server seemed to have tables at every end of the place, even outside. She was nice enough but a little scatter brained when it came to checking in on us. One thing I did enjoy is that it seems the owner is regularly in the business and checks in with patrons. A personal connection between business owners and their customers is an often missing factor in the food industry and it is a big plus for my possible return to the restaurant.

Continuing our tour of BBQ in the Nashville area. This time, my bbq partner in yum and I decided to keep it local for us ie BBQ on our lunch break. Plus I had a coupon, and while I like my meat smoked to perfection, I also like the delicious taste of savings. Our standard order — pulled pork & ribs. BBQ buddy wanted to try the brisket too. After all, this place claims to be «real Texas» BBQ, which means brisket, baby. Thank God he added that to the order because these folks know brisket. The brisket was definitely my favorite meat. It wasn’t caused so it wasn’t wet. However, it wasn’t dry either. It was a melt in your mouth good which tasted a lot like amazing beef jerky. Tasty, tasty. The pulled pork was pretty standard affair. Again, served before saucing, it was moist and smoky. Pretty good stuff, but it did need some sauce. The verdict is still out on the ribs. They were cooked just right — not fall of the bone, but not too dry, not too juicy. They weren’t wet. They didn’t have a dry rub. I think they were just smoked. The flavor of the meat was good, but I like a dry or wet rub. Something to add a bit zing. As far as atmosphere, this place is DARK inside. There’s not much for natural lighting, which is a bit shocking for a midweek lunch. From previous experiences, I know they have live music often, which matches their full bar. That’s not really my scene so I don’t think I’ll be going back at night unless it’s to pick up a to-go order. The service was great. Normally servers seem a bit annoyed when you come in with a coupon, but our server didn’t mind at all. She kept our Styrofoam cups and checked in often. I Fun note — on our way to the car, I noticed an old guy out back chopping wood. I know their food is smoked, but there was something reassuring about that. Overall, we had a great experience. Like I said, this place is close to our house so it might be a great quick dinner to-go spot for us.

We were hesitant, being Tennessee BBQ lovers. This is a Texas BBQ place, but the pulled pork is quite good. We had the BBQ beans and potato salad as sides – also good. The only negative is the atmosphere. It seemed a little on the not so clean side. Very friendly service. We might try again.

Texas BBQ in Tennessee. Yep. On my recent visit I had four meats and all meats were smoked well. This is a bar/restaurant and they feature live music. I left just as the music was kicking off. The Ribs were very good, moist, and meaty; smoked well and not overcooked! They did a very good job with the ribs. I love Sausage and their sausage was pretty good, excellent actually. The Pulled Pork was moist and tasty. I love the fact that it came without sauve. Oddly enough being a Texas BBQ joint the Brisket wasn’t as good as the other meats. Baked beans and potato salad for sides. Very good. I’ll return! 7÷16÷2013

The brisket quesadillas and the sin dip are both favorites. Great spot to take the kids for a quick, albeit unhealthy, meal!

It’s the real deal. The BBQ is amazing and so are the beans, slaw, potato salad! It’s all so good! Usually they have good music too! It can get pretty bar-ish at night so beware of that if you are with your kids but it’s such a fun place! The brisket is delicious! And I am from Texas so I should know!
