We love this place! Family owned, the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful, the quality of their meats is impeccable, and it’s our go-to place for steaks and ribs. They have great lunch deals and homemade soups. You can call and preorder items which is great for the holidays. All around lovely business.

Had heard good things about this place, but unfortunately my experience was strange. I’ve never had a butcher argue with me about the size of the steak I’ve asked to be cut. Yes, I understand that a 14 oz. Filet is a large piece. No, I don’t want the 8 oz. bacon wrapped one. After explaining to the butcher what I wanted, he goes in the back and brings out another guy to argue with me. Thanked them for their time and off to The Fresh Market where they’ll sell me what I want to purchase.

Butcher block is the place if what you are looking for is a good price on a Primo ceramic grill. The Primo is, in my opinion, far superior to the better marketed Big Green Egg. Its not cheap, but you probably will not find a better price on one than the Butcher Block. They have every option available and you will not be disappointed with your Primo from the BB. If you are looking for a condiment for your meat in a gift-worthy container, the Butcher Block has you covered. Lots of good looking sauces and marinades. But their meat is not notably different from Costco, Sams, or your local Publix. It came in the same cryo pack, was cut to a retail portion and put in a deli tray with plastic wrap. Just like every other store. You pay for the friendly owners, the attractive display case, and perhaps for some stuffing or prep. There’s nothing at all wrong with any of that. You’ll just pay more for it than you will at the big box.

Great lunch specials and a unique selection of side assortments. The meat there also appears to be very quality and freshly cut, however the prices for fresh meat reflect a healthy premium over public, or even whole foods. But it’s nice to have a local butcher in town, so if you live in the area, stop by some time to see it first hand.

Today was the second time to visit. I went seeking expert opinions on two meat questions and hoping to buy. 1. Do you have grass fed beef? He looked at me as if I was asking for filet de perro. Strike one. 2. I asked for bottom round. He didn’t have it. I just assumed a butcher would have almost all cuts. 3. I asked what can you use for beef jerky. I was told most people don’t ask that question. Okay! But I did. No answer. The owner just watched with no assistance. I’m a little jaded on this place now. I’ll stick to my regulars.

Thanks to Unilocal for finding this gem of a place. Loved the friendly service. Ordered the box lunch, which included a sandwich, chips, drink, and a cookie. Excellent on all accounts! Nice little area for seating.

Their hours are much better now! I am married to a picky eater, he will agree with that statement. My regular groceries at bought at Publix, but hubby does not care for Publix’s meat. Sometimes I will buy chicken or pork from Whole Foods, but if the objective is a dinner party serving anything other than beef, I try to head here.(And to clarify, we live in Franklin but have a farm in Maury county where we raise our own beef, thus the«non beef» purchase statement). This is a cute little store with lots of yummy things, and if you were just buying the meat portion — it’s not cheap, but not über expensive, either. I’ve had some great individually packaged stuffed chicken breasts that were pricey, but that’s pricey in the regular stores, too. Their pork cuts were quite reasonable, and ribs as well. I am often lured by the packaged sides — tomato and cucumber salad, a great looking chicken salad, that will whallop your wallet even more. I do the same thing at Whole Foods in their prepared aisle, too, so it’s not like one choice is way better for me. We have really been in about 8 times, and never been disappointed. Would’ve been in more, but again — their hours stink, so that’s all I could manage.

In a bind I needed some brisket for a BBQ cookoff in Nashville. I looked at their hours, they were not set to open for another couple of hours, on a whim I called and a very nice lady answered, I told her of my dilemma and she said«when can you be here?» I was right down the street, she said«knock on the door when you get here» sure enough, I knocked on the door even though they were closed, a nice gentleman said«are you here for the brisket?» I said yes, he had everything right there at the counter ready to go, in and out in 2 minutes with one of the biggest, nicest brisket I have ever seen!!! I will be back, without a doubt. Thanks you guys, you saved the day!

The Butcher’s Block is good for three things: lunch, fresh meat, and deli supplies. I liked the place for what it was. The meat looked extremely fresh, it was bright red, the cuttings were clearly recent, and the fat was white not browning. The deli meat is Boar’s Head, again, high quality. And the lunches are pretty decent, too. I had the turkey sandwich, and it was very tasty. But there is no reason to go here if you don’t have plans for either of these. Boar’s Head can also be found elsewhere, so I don’t think that should be your motivation, either. The Butcher Block is good for fresh meats, and for as Sherlock Holmes said, «A sandwich and a cup of coffee.» Go there for lunch if you live or work in Cool Springs. Otherwise, I can’t image any reason to trek from Nashville or Murfreesboro.
