The service: Very very disappointed with this restaurant. I ordered ahead of time online so that I could come and pick it up on my half hour lunch break and bring it back with me. That did not work out. I first approached the restaurant around 12:55pm on a Thursday, the open sign was not lit and it was very dimly lit inside, much like it was closed. I had ordered the calamari, egg drop soup, and the ma-po tofu. Where do I begin? My order was not ready when I got there, the lady working at the hostess stand did not even know about my order, I had to show her in the stack of orders which one was mine. She told me that my order had not been put in and that she would make it for me real fast. «Real fast» was 15 minuets and I was then late getting back to work. She told me that she had given me something free since I had to wait for me order, unless the wontons for my soup, or the white rice was free, I did not get anything free. The food: The calamari was probably the worst I have ever had. It was like rubberbands coated in a heavy peppery batter deep fried until they were chewy and disgusting. The tofu was ok, but the amount of hot pepper casings was ridiculous and made it nearly impossible to chew. The only saving grace was the egg drop soup which was good. I did not get any soy sauce or duck sauce to go with my order. In summary: I would not be ordering from this place again. I was hoping that it would be much better but sadly it was just very disappointing. Sorry Chopstix, I will not be returning.

Went here on a whim, on Saturday night, was empty. However, l ordered the crispy beef, this is make it or break it for me in Asian food. Good quality of beef was used, fresh vegetables, hot steamed rice and a good sauce. Loved the wait staff, was checked on and left me alone to enjoy my dinner. Really well done, nice presentation and was very good.

I enjoyed lunch here with the family for the first time. They were very accomodating as we were not the only family with young children. I went with one of the house Noodle soups which I highly suggest. All portions were a nice size too. I dont know why we didnt try this place earlier as we will be returning sometime soon!

Crab Rangoon and Crispy Chicken(kid’s meal) here are awesome. I ordered them every time I am in Urbana for my son’s Kick Karate classes. The customer service wasn’t that good until they changed the management and the waiters recently.

When Chopstix first opened i ate there regularly as the food was excellent, but then it went horribly downhill so I stopped going. A friend said it is now under new management so I gave it a try for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. On the basis of this, I went again on a Saturday night with my husband. Big mistake. We were the only people in there at 7:15 on a Saturday night, and they were playing very loud teenager type pop music from a radio station, so I would give them 0 for ambiance. They no longer serve beer and wine, so for me that is a big turnoff for a night out. They were very busy with take out orders so we had a bit of a wait for the food. When it finally arrived the food really was very good again, although I wish they would bring it out on warmed plates so it would’t go cold so quickly. If I was just rating the restaurant for food I would have given it a 4, but for the overall dining experience, when the ambiance is taken into consideration, the place only merits a 3. I would recommend it for lunch or if you plan to get a takeout, but not for dinner.

This place keeps disappointing and I’ve finally decided to give up on them. The egg rolls and the spring rolls are both pretty bad, there’s very little flavor and the cabbage isn’t tender, it just gets stuck in my teeth. The steamed dumplings have a nasty aftertaste. The wontons have almost no filling. Only a few things are actually really good, but then the portions are pretty small, and the price is too much for it. I’m used to sharing an order of Lo mein and an order of sesame chicken with my 2 young daughters and having at least one lunch-portion leftover, but not from Chopstix. You literally get 12 small nuggets of chicken in an order of sesame chicken. A couple more things: delivery takes ridiculously long, at least 45 minutes each time I’ve ordered. I get no soy sauce with my order at least half the time, once also no duck sauce. The white rice is almost always dried out. The fried rice tastes like cardboard.

Ordered an eggplant with garlic dish to go and the sauce/oil burned right through the styrofoam and plastic wrapping. Called to complain and the gentleman who answered could care less. It is not about a refund at that point, since my family ate some of the styrofoam and plastic. All I wanted was an apology, which the person never gave. Have been going to Chopstix for several years and will now never go back.

Terrible service. 2nd time our order was incomplete. 1st one was carry out, 2nd one was delivery. I should have checked the contents of the bag. Concerning the Second mistake, I decided to call, and the young lady was a bit matter of fact; not quite rude, but seemed unconcerned with the inconvenience of my family. I decided to actually pick up the missing items; no apology for the inconvenience! I was not surprised. I didn’t complain; that is why I have a Unilocal!app. Check your orders before you take your food. Will be awhile before I return; not sure we will.

Bob F. Posted some pictures of chicken wings from somewhere else. I frequent this place and always get chicken wings for to go. I have never seen these chicken wings. With that said, new owners are in effect and food quality is getting better and better. What’s great about this restaurant is that they do accommodate for any type of needs. I usually don’t like onions so when I order general taos chicken, I always ask for no onions and without fail every time, I get no onions. Food choices are pretty much the same as usual chinese restaurants. However, how it is presented is the nice part. Dishes are square and food is cooked unlike some places where food is cooked half way. Staff is awesome!

Ordered two General Tso Chicken dinners to go and it just wasn’t enough food. Also, the food just didn’t taste that good. Meh. I’ve experienced better…

Ordered a beef and vegetable dish — it was drowning in overly-sweet brown sauce. Place itself is nice and wait staff friendly.

So many negatives! So I hope I don’t leave out something. There were two positives. The room was nice, however some benches have duct tape. Our group thought this would be a great place to dump someone. The 2nd postive was the food was hot, this included the sushi. I wouldn’t go as far as saying gas station sushi is better, but walmart gives them a run. The spicy California roll was anything but. The General Tso was decent, however they tried to charge us extra because we had a groupon. Then when the bill came they added the tip after adding tax, trying to squeeze out more money. I cannot believe people think this place is good, and that they have regulars.

I just moved to Urbana and wanted to try the local Chinese restaurant hoping it would be good. I was sadly disappointed. The chicken fried rice lacked both chicken and flavor the same for the cashew chicken. Very bland and little chicken. I will keep looking for a good place to get Chinese food in the Urbana area.

Walking into this restaurant I really wanted to like this place. The ambiance and décor was totally me so I was excited. The booth we got seated in was duck taped all the across the cushion but I was willing to look the other way because in all honesty I was here for the food so lets get serious. Crab rangoons were really yummy and that says a lot coming from me because I find myself to be a crab rangoon connoisseur. Hubby enjoyed his hot and sour soup which he tends to be picky about as well. Our smoked salmon sushi was ok. The rice they use looks as if they mushed it together before putting it in the rolls. Curry chicken rice bowl was bland but the combination curry fried rice was more flavorful. Alright so here is where it went south. We used a groupon and when we got our bill it already had the tip filled in for us at 20%. Its ok… ill give you a moment to take in the shock value of what I just said. We always tip this much no matter where we go but this was a first and it made me feel some kind of way. Maybe it was a suggestion I dunno so ill give them the benefit of the doubt. We gave them our credit card and our receipt that they bought back had the tip written in ONCEAGAIN. Atleast the waiter was pleasant. Groupon brought us in but unfortunately we wont be coming back.

I have been going here since I was 13 and the owner and her main waiter are there literally 100% of the time I’ve gone and i’ve been there at least 50 times. I’m a plain jane and I get the beef fried rice, spicy, typically with wonton soup almost every time. With that said, they use the highest quality ingredients. I believe it’s flank steak that they use. They cook every dish 1 by 1 rather than all mixed up and greasy. Just super high quality 100% of the time and they are by far the nicest restaurant owners I’ve ever met in my life. Their owner is the sweetest lady in the world and is always smiling which is half the reason I go, aside from the amazing food.

Chickety china, the chinese chicken. –Yes, they have THISISTHEBESTCHINESEFOODEVER! I’ve been to many chinese, faux-chinese, and grime-ese(gross) chinese restaurants. This one takes the cake –the rice cake that is. They have high quality food(no plastic chicken that failed to pass USDA inspection). They also have a variety of delicious seafood and vegetarian dishes. The owner is really nice and accomadating. You really need to go here because you haven’t had American Chinese food until you’ve been here. If you look at my previous reviews you’ll note that everything either has 5 or 1 stars. I only review the worst and the best places.

I attended a birthday party for a friend at Chopstix tonight and the food was great. Everyone was happy with their dishes, the waiter was very attentive to us, and the owner came over to personally wish my friend a happy birthday(she and her husband are regular customers). The place was clean and attractive, and we had a lovely time. Totally ignore the nasty review from«Robert T.» If you look at the rest of his Unilocal reviews, he apparently thinks that nothing in the MD burbs can compare with NYC, and he gave Krispy Crème 5 stars. ‘Nuff said. Give Chopstix a try! :-)

Best Chinese food ever. Not your average run-of-the-mill Chinese takeout. The chicken is juicy and grilled to perfection. The sauces have so much flavor. You might think it is a little pricey, but I would say it is definitely worth it. You will not regret eating here. I don’t get carry out from here that often, but the owners recognize me and know my name. Very nice people on top of amazing food.
