WHYDOESTHISPLACEHAVETOBESOFAR! I can’t think of excuses to go out there, but I sooooooooo want to. Sadness. Yes, the bread and scones may sound pricey, but they are so worth it! It totally helped that they give out samples too. Just reading their menu and tasting the samples made me think: I want that, and that and that… pretty much all of it! Clearly, I cannot eat all of that fast enough though. It was a little over $ 7 for a loaf of bread, and $ 4.25(I think) for a BIG scone. I came home with the rosemary garlic bread, a sticky bun(for my mom, which she loved! loaded with nuts and raisins), one bacon and cheddar scone, and one meyer lemon scone. I am totally bias because I love meyer lemons. My dad has a meyer lemon tree, and I just can’t get enough of it! At Wild Flour Bread, they did a great job with the meyer lemon scone — tangy, moist and so flavorful with bits of lemon inside. The bacon and cheddar scone was the surprise to me, because I never thought a savory scone can taste so good! They had little chunks of cheddar cheese hidden in the scones, and it definitely added to the flavor perfectly. I wish I bought more scone… I LOVE scones! And last but not least, the garlic rosemary bread lasted me a whole week+, for breakfast. It is one dense loaf! And even after a week, it was still delicious and moist. Impressive! I absolutely love my carbs. The quality of the breads and baked goods here, was heaven to me! Someone give me a reason to drive out here again, please!

We stopped in after our appointment at Osmosis Day Spa. Lots of samples to try. I ended up getting a few freshed bake hazelnut biscottis and mushroom herb scones to bring back for my boys. Definitely, will visit soon

I love this place. Always stop by when I’m in the area. This time I bought the goat cheese bread(I love it! IT’s still awesome) and some«Egyptian» bread– sweet bread with figs pears and ginger. Everything here is good. Everything is fresh. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever eaten here.

So I have m been a customer of this place forever. The products are worth the trip. The reason for two stars is the cutomer service. Everyone is very nice. This place is a CASHONLY and no where was there a sign indicating so. So I had to go into Occidental which is not just down the road. When I returned to pick up my bread. I asked for a couple of larger bags instead I was ignored. I was handed the bread I purchased, which turned out be items I did not purchase. This place is a very popular tourist spot so not having 21st century options for payment is inexcusiable to me. The nearest ATM is Gonnelli’s market in Occidental. They two places I was told had an atm where closed. It will be a while before I return, if at all

Grabbed some scones here recently for breakfast-to-go but boy, were they amazing! Meyer Lemon with rhubarb, double chocolate, and apricot strawberry(hey! it was for 2 days!) — all incredible. The double chocolate was perhaps a tiny bit dry, but that was compared to the other two that were nice and moist. Very friendly service from the counter where you order and we loved all the beautiful murals on the walls and the groovy tunes that were playing in the background. Have heard about this place for years, and was lucky enough to be staying about 4 miles away, so we were on it Monday morning!(Only open Fri-Mon and cash only, too) Hopin’ to get back again sometime!

I was staying at Sebastopol/Freestone area one Friday night and I came across this little hidden gem. I tried the Cinnamon bun bread(Sticky Bun) and instantly fell in love.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. It’s better to go earlier in the morning, but even at 10 am the bread is still hot and fresh out of the brick oven. Customer service is always good, and I have never eaten something that wasn’t delicious. I just wish they had syrups for their coffee and espresso drinks, but this place is worth it for their bread.

While the folks at Wild Flour Bread are usually too busy to stop their work to tell you their story, you must know that their story is inspiring. They got together over ten years ago and opened a bakery in relatively remote location. The bohemian highway is a wild narrow ride through some spiritual retreats. It’s a charming road, and one of many that leads to a trail through the woods and eventually the beach. This bakery’s long term success is a true testament to vision, diligence and hard work. The bread here is fantastic, amazing, great. My personal favorite is the cheese loaf. I always eat a warm piece on my way to wherever I might be going. The scones sometimes have big juicy chunks of fruit. It’s all good. If you think you got there too late and that the very best is already gone, move on. You’ll find your best some place else.

Good stuff. Sticky bread, rosemary bread, everything we got was good. There’s a nice little garden to walk around in and sit down too. For sure go check this out if you are in west county. The line was out the door(probably always is) but it moved pretty fast.

This is a not a hidden gem. It is however a million miles away from everything. If your within 20 miles of this magical place you must stop in. It’s something out of a ferry tale. We’ve been here half a dozen times over the last five years and every time it’s spot on. Sometimes though they run out of the good stuff early. So then my recommendation is to come early and come often! Remember to checkout the garden.

This is one of those rare places where you can actually taste the love baked into the bread. It really doesn’t get better than this. Brick oven baked creates a thick crust and great texture in these breads. They are loaded with fresh, organic ingredients. I love the fougasse and dragon bread, but every single one I’ve tried is awesome! Be adventurous, try things you might not normally, and order extra for later. Don’t let the parking or lines scare you off. The line moves pretty fast.

Here is what you have to know: Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday ONLY!!! if this information is not clear, call them. Because Freestone is a long ride to find a closed gem. I tried scones, gluten and not. Flavor is great on both but I side with gluten for enjoyable texture. Then there is a cinnamon roll that is more like a bread… take it home and make awesome French toast, or just gobble it down, your choice. Then there are the breads: Wonder, a simple and perfect sourdough. Yum! I also tried one with Gouda, red peppers and green onions… perfect as is, but toppings of your choosing will only make it better. Samples of everything are available. Enjoy!

Aside from the fact that their prices are outrageous for the size and quality of the products, the customer service here just plain sucks. It would appear that their popularity has gone to their head so that they no longer value their customers the way they once did. As a teenager, I used to enjoy their sticky buns. The bread is nothing to write home about, the loaves being very small, and the sourdough much too sour, but I was in the area so I thought I’d drop by to see if they had any rolls or non dairy scones. I was ignored by the cashier; he turned and went off toward the back of the store without even glancing at me, so I was left waiting in front of the cash register, and what should be sitting on the counter but a profusion of delightful looking bread samples… Since I had missed lunch and was very hungry, I couldn’t resist trying one. Immediately an older woman – one of the owners or managers perhaps – rushed over with a horrified expression on her face and told me I was not to grab the samples, that I should have waited for someone to come and serve me. Well, sorry. They’re samples, so I assumed they were for sampling. I apologized, but she wouldn’t let the matter drop and continued to harangue me, stating that what I had done was a health code violation. Not only is this BS – Whole Foods regularly allows customers to sample bread on their own – but I honestly found her reaction vaguely offensive. I mean, do I look so filthy that I might contaminate the products? I suspect someone will eventually comment on this review with an attempt to explain away the incident, but this was just bad customer service, no matter how you slice it. They didn’t have rolls, so I left and won’t return; I don’t appreciate being treated like a criminal while shopping for bread. Village Bakery has better flavors anyway.

I stopped by after a weekend retreat at the CYO Caritas Camp just down the road on the Bohemian highway. I have been stopping by here for each year I help out with the retreat and let me tell you, the bread is amazing! The Fougasse with bell peppers… Fougasse option #1 with peppers and 3 cheeses… especially if fresh from the oven or reheated… My goodness. Amazing! Get here early because once they run out of supply for the day, they do not re-bake to ensure product sold is fresh. Definitely make it a morning stop to get the best selection. The staff is amazingly nice and patient given that the place was packed a little before lunch time. The woman that helped me was gracious, apologized for the wait and even conversed a little while prepping the bread. There is a very small lot which I got lucky to park in but street parking is also available but gets backed up at times(especially around breakfast /lunch). There are limited benches for seating. The place also seems that this is a waypoint for cyclists which is cool. There are other shops and a little garden you can walk around and hang out in as well as well a winery located down the street which makes this bakery a great stopping point.

Well, I waited years to review this place because I wanted to keep it a secret. Well the cat is out of the bag. Lines out the door, but wow, so amazing! Try something unusual like a lavender scone. Don’t miss the cinnamon sticky bun, enough to feed a small family but usually consumed before we get back to the car. Don’t stress about the line, it moves quick and the vibe is super calming as it radiates from the ladies behind the counter. You can see the love in their service and in the taste of their food. Enjoy.

Very nice bakery in the middle of nowhere. We first discovered this place when meandering through Sonoma County. That was back in the days when Unilocal didn’t even exist and I’d been wondering about this place ever since: where was it again? On a more recent trip to Sebastopol we happened to drive by here again and I was so happy to have it re-discovered; it felt like a reunion with a good old friend. And even though we’d just finished a big lunch at a nearby restaurant, we ordered some pastries and coffee and sat in their front yard. I really loved their white peach and marzipan scones and I’ve been recreating these at home ever since. If you have some time, I suggest you explore their fruit and vegetable garden, which is right next door. I felt like thrown back in time to my aunts garden back in the German countryside. Splendid!

Our hero popped into this delightful little bakery on a weekend trip through wine country and loved it so much that he came back for seconds before the end of his trip! This is a real mom and pop bakery in the middle of nowhere that has some of the most interesting types of bread and the friendliest countryside feel. Warm loaves of herb infused bread fill our hero’s thoughts whenever he thinks of Sonoma County now. Dragon(jalapeño, garlic, polenta) and goat flat(goat cheese, green onion) breads are really interesting. Their sticky bun with cinnamon, raisin and walnut is out of this world. But honestly, you can’t really go wrong with ANY of their breads. The staff is helpful in recommending what you might like, as their bread list is diverse and there’s something for people with either a savory or a sweet tooth. The staff is here so friendly that the most remarkable thing happened. Our hero’s friend forgot her wallet in the bakery with a lot of cash inside, and realized when they were already hours away. The staff was so helpful when they were notified that they even mailed our hero’s friend her wallet back with every dime intact the very next day! There’s a lot to be said for people this helpful and genuine! PROS: — Free samples of all of their breads at the counter. — Their breads are very unique and taste extremely fresh. — You can enjoy the bread that you bought in the moment in their garden next door. — The staff is so friendly and helpful! CONS: — There’s pretty much always a line out the door. — Cash only… but they seem to be okay with people promising they’ll pay later on their next trip back(because you will always come back to this place).

Stumbled upon Wild Flour while dropping out daughter off at CYO camp. I imagine this is a common theme for patrons. Considering it’s such a small town and not much around, I was surprised how busy it was! Line out the door yet it moves quickly. The first time we went we wound up just ordering a round of the plain French bread which my husband and daughter devoured and loved. Today was pickup day and my mom and I stopped in and had the gluten free plum scones. Tip: if you can’t get there early, call ahead to have them set aside the gluten free scones you want because they only make a limited amount and they go quickly. Delicious and every day the make different flavors. Today was plum, hazelnut and another flavor that I just forgot! We also ordered a baguette and the sesame seed loaf for my daughter and step-dad. The drip coffee is excellent as well! But don’t forget to bring cash! No cards, cash only! Of course it was all amazing, but the real joy is walking through the beautiful garden to get to the back area with outdoor tables. My mom and I just walked around for a good 20 minutes enjoying the beautiful flowers and vegetables and fruits. Such a great place. We will definitely make Wild Flour a tradition when ever we are up in the area for camp!

I love visiting different bakeries. Wild Flour Bread has a communal, earthy, wholesome atmosphere. They use Wood Fire Brick Oven instead of mechanical ovens. This is an art. When camping, I sometimes cook with open fires; temperature gauging is not easy. On this visit, there was a sign on the door asking to barter for figs and Meyer lemons. (I would barter for figs too) Scones $ 4.25 — moist, like a cross with muffins; love it. Biscotti $ 3.25 — I didn’t appreciate it. Breads $ 7.75 Bohemian is Apricot, Pecan, Orange — liked this one Sticky Bun is like a cinnamon roll — sticky and too sweet Garlic Rosemary — goes well with cheese and wine My bread bill total to $ 50, and then I found out credit cards are not accepted. As I scramble for cash from hubby, the worker said they can take an IOU if I cannot gather enough cash. I had two thoughts. 1. They are too nice and 2. I only come this way once every two years. They also have a rustic farm in the back with more benched to relax and enjoy seeing various wild flowers, fruits, and vegetables. The garden changes over the years, no more rabbits anymore. This is a relaxing place to visit.
