I have no idea why everyone hates this place so much. I’ve only tried the traditional Chinese desserts here, and I love it so much! The dun dan was soooooo smooth and the sesame ball soup was really soft and milky. I’m Cantonese, and I got along with the staff really well, and we spoke for about 15 minutes to choose our desserts(my mom talks a lot). The dun dan did take a while, but only because it was all fresh which is hard to find nowadays. As for the milk teas, waffles, and Americanized treats I have no opinion or knowings. This place is cheap, has a TV, good ol’ grandma sweets. I’m happy with it.

Don’t bother. This place will make you angry. I have had 2 experiences here: Experience 1 I ordered desserts, and I’d rather wait until my next visit to San Francisco to satisfy my craving for HK desserts. The person making my desserts was in an extremely bad mood. Experience 2 is based off of my friend’s opinion upon leaving the store. I had walked in with two of my friends. I sat down while they ordered one milk tea. The person working was on a laptop. My friend(girl) asks the worker for a milk tea with pearls. The worker just looks at her and shrugs. My other friend(boy) points at the words on the menu, asking«can I get this.» The worker shrugs and makes gestures as though they do not understand. My friends are confused as to why even pointing won’t get the worker to understand, and I grow impatient and stand up and point at the item and ask in the same fashion as my friend(boy). All of a sudden, the worker just magically understands us, and tells the person behind the counter to make the drink. The woman looks annoyed but makes it either way. In the end, the drink was ok but the pearls were stale-ish. My friend who was the boy, upon leaving the store, commented sarcastically«I like how the worker didn’t understand english from two [insert race] but understood it clearly with you.» I happen to be Chinese. This was based off of my friend’s words. There are other variables as to why my friend didn’t get my the drink the first time, but I found this situation kind of odd. Either way, the foods not good in my opinion(compared to HK style cafes in SF) so why not just wait instead of coming here and dealing with the service.

If there was a «ten thumbs down» saying, I would totally use it for this place. Service: Horrible. Usually, I give places that hire servers who can’t speak great English the benefit of the doubt, it’s like they don’t even try to give good customer service. Teas: Last time I was here, I ordered a passion fruit tea. No boba or anything added/special. Took the first sip and almost choked. There was HELLA syrup on the bottom. Oh lord… Granted, I knew that they didn’t use real teas to make the drinks, but come on, having one inch of syrup sitting on the bottom of the cup is a little(actually, way too) disgusting in my book. I’ve been here before with friends who ordered desserts, but they told me they weren’t anything special. The portions looked really small too. Not cool, bro.

Place was empty. — playing hip hop music — dirty tables — 2 ladies behind counter — lots of empty tables Mango custard and Taro slush(7.30) Mango custard was gross, no flavor. Taro slush was nasty… too much ice, extra 50 cents for bolba, left disgusting after taste in mouth, lacked flavor, made incorrectly? had to discard. — lady behind register was nice. I doubt I’ll return.

Cute décor! Almost every table has some kind of board game(e.g. Chinese chess). I even saw people play cards while enjoying their food. However, I would not come back as the food was disgusting. The egg puffs were doughy and undercooked. The mango gi gi didn’t have much of a mango taste. The crispy pop chicken had too much batter. I had better at Quickly. The chicken gizzards were on the sweet side. Need I say more?

Dunno why so many people have had such bad experiences with the service? I’ve been here a handful of times and I’ve always gotten prompt service. The only gripe I have is that at times, it takes maybe 15+ minutes for food to be served when it really is fast food. The food is quite delicious as are the drinks!

I should have listened to the reviews on Unilocal. I should have listened to my friends telling me no. I should have given more credence to the big yellow sign in the front window from the county. «Provisional Pass» How do you screw up Peal milk tea I thought? The pudding in the tea was good. The tea, not so much. The place is cleanish, and there is a short wait here compared to every other dessert place in this plaza. This place just needs to go out of business, which I suspect will be before the end of summer. Then a new place can open up, so that I don’t have to wait 20 minutes at the snow place. EDIT: after doing more Unilocaling and more reviews. And after seeing the kinds of ratings I give to other places, I felt that my 2 star review was too generous. I have decided to change it to 1 star.(I have not gone back, I just felt that 2 was too much for this place.)

You know it’s gonna be bad if you checked in just for the sole purpose of remembering NOT to come back here. Checked in so that you can make sure you remembered this placed and can alert the masses. We came here after eating dinner, hoping to pick up a quick drink. We were impressed by the huge selection on the menu. Unfortunately, this is a sit down and wait for your drink kind of place. We sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. After about 10 minutes, we got our orders taken: 3 pearl drinks, nothing crazy. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. After about 30 minutes, we got our drinks. We were ready to go but getting anyone’s attention was impossible. They didn’t seem to be short on staff that evening but it seemed that everyone was talking to someone or doing something else. It was really frustrating. Finally, I stood up, and waited in front of the cashier until someone came up and helped me. Other parties were given their checks to their tables(maybe the 10 minute wait + angry glares weren’t good enough) but I just had enough. We paid and then got the heck out of there. The drinks weren’t stellar, nothing to call home about. Choose something else to waste your time on, save your money, save your calories.

37 C Dessert Café is right next door to Shao Mountain where we just had dinner. We needed to get something to cool us down from the fiery meal next door. They have an extensive menu of Chinese desserts, drinks, fruit, ices, smoothies, tapioca’s, and puddings. I been here several times and major knock on this place is its so so so slow. If there is more than 3 people ahead of you expect to wait 15 min or more. The desserts are actually very good but they can not handle any volume. We had the Combo all the fruit and 13 different tapioca’s, boba, jellies ice. good sesame mochi tong yuen good mango icy good

I have always tried to avoid this place… but since my friends want dessert after dinner at food talk, we decided to give it one more try. My friend got the waffle ice crea, which was… pretty bad… don’t expect they make you fresh waffles, because it’s just frozen waffle where you can get in supermarkets. I got the pear sweet soup with white fungus… it’s alright… too sweet for me… i can make better… I have actually been here for a few times, but each time was worse than the last time… I wonder how they still survive…

I’ll have to agree with all the other Unilocalers and say that this place needs a definite change. I went yesterday and ordered a green tea crème brûlée. When I receive my order I tried it and and I was trying to figure out why they would call it green tea when I don’t taste any tea in it. So, I called over the manager and I asked her if this was it. She tells me «No, this is our original crème brûlée.» I told her that I didn’t order the original. She looks at me and said that it was a new employee that took our order and just stood there looking like she didn’t know what to do. We ended up having to pay for it. She didn’t even apologize. I’m just a little upset, because clearly I didn’t mess up my order and they didn’t seem to care that they messed up. Don’t think I’ll be back here again.

An update to my previous review a while back, since for some stupid reason, I thought they’d improve. But this is THE example of «Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.» Seriously, if I could give them negative stars, I would. Stay away from this place, unless you want to get your orders mixed up, terrible customer service, and very mediocre food. I went with my mom and brother yesterday to get some shaved ice since we were around the area. We go in and my brother orders a hot pearl milk tea and I order a mango shaved ice(the promo deal on a huge poster posted on their window). I explain to the girl at least THREE times what I wanted to order — both in English and Chinese, in case she couldn’t understand, and confirmed with her that I wanted to order what was being promoted on the poster. She even went outside with my mom to see what was on the poster because she kept thinking that we wanted to get the mango pudding. Then I also confirm with her that my brother wanted a HOT pearl milk tea WITH peals. You’d think after spending 10 minutes confirming our order, there’d be no problem. But nope, when she brought out dessert out, she brought THEMANGOPUDDINGDESSERT. I tell her, «This is not what we ordered,» I point to the damn poster again and told her we didn’t order the mango PUDDING, we wanted the mango SHAVEDICE. My mom talks to the manager, who came over, and sorted it out. And he comes over and asks us to pay the $ 3. EXCUSEME? I understand that there’s a difference because the two desserts are different, but your freaking employee was the one who messed up the order, so WE should pay for it? In my opinion, that’s kind of ridiculous. On top of that, they didn’t have all the ingredients we wanted in the shaved ice. Whatever, we pay the $ 3 and I just wanted to eat and gtfo. Then she brings out my brother’s pearl milk tea — except it’s COLD and THEREWASNOPEARLS. Are you asdfg!@#$%ing kidding me? On top of that, their milk tea tastes like microwaved powdered milk tea. I can make milk tea better at home. This is not an isolated event, where I’m just being hella picky or whatever. We overheard them messing up the orders for the party of 6 sitting in the table behind us. So PLEASE, if you’re even thinking about coming to this place, just know that they 1) do not take responsibility for their employee’s mistakes, 2) have incompetent employees who can’t even take simple orders, 3) their food is not even close to worth going back there. I seriously regret giving them the benefit of doubt, thinking they’d be better since the last time we went, but this is just the most terrible dessert/boba place I have EVER been to in my life. Please make the drive elsewhere for boba or dessert. Don’t risk your time or money on this place.

Zero. Went with a bunch of friends on a Saturday night. Haven’t been to this café for so long and there was no other good chinese dessert café around, so decided to go there. Turns out this café quickly moves up to my «never-come-back-again-restaurant» list. Let me give some examples: 1. Fried pork chop udon — it took them so long to make this one; so okay we thought slow usually means good so we were expecting; then we were given a bowl of udon with some dark looking pork chop(instaed of the usual light brown) on the top. We were so mad already; then the chef /waiter came back and said«oh yea, this is our new style of fried pork chop, try it out!» then we tried to cut the pork and it was sooo hard — and couldn’t chew neither. gave up. 2. We ordered a traditional Chinese dessert, the papaya«dung» pear or something. So, clearly it is supposed to be hot. BUT, it took them about 5 mins, and they gave us a cup of COLD, literally COLD papaya«dung» pear. Probably their microwave was broken or something? Before I went there I saw many super bad reviews on Unilocal already but I thought situation might not be that bad. I was wrong. If you are an adventurous person, I highly recommend you to come to this restaurant — something you can never imagine happening in a restaurant can happen. But if you are looking for good dessert — I would rather stay home and make by myself.

Ughhhh, what happened to this place? Not that it was outstanding before, but I actually liked coming here to get my Hong Kong desserts. After dinner last weekend, I was craving something sweet and decided to come here with my family. I ordered my usual — Tofu Fa(Tofu custard/ginger dessert) and Almond Soup w/Black Sesame Balls. We had another order of Almond Soup and the boyfriend ordered one of their Waffle w/Red Bean things. When we got the desserts, everything looked just like it used to, but every single item tasted horrible. I tried the Almond Soup first and it tasted like powder and sour — so thinking it was just the Almond Soup, I went on to the Tofu Fa. The Tofu Fa was also terrible — tofu part did not taste fresh and the ginger had no ginger flavor and was slightly sour. The Waffle dessert was also pretty bad — everything was flavorless and instant tasting. The only thing that tasted good was the red beans with whip cream, but come on. Anyhow, we let the manager know and she assured us that nothing changed. Maybe it’s the Quickly taking over. But, I was pretty sad as everything tasted bad and I won’t be coming back.

Perfect for late night snacking since this place is open late until 3AM(might be updated but not too sure). Their menu had been expanded recently and was added with Quickly’s menu. A bit too overwhelming if you ask me. An average new person who would look at the menu would be hesitant due to its multiple pages of menu. The only good thing I can say is that it is open late, and their egg nuggets. Though it is a hit and miss, sometimes it is overcooked and or sometimes under cooked. Their finger foods are not bad since they cook it pretty consistently(who can messed up fried foods right?). Though their service somewhat sucks. They would bring orders out of the blue. One person would be always left behind with their order and had to make sure that the server don’t forget. Overall, late night, safe location and sub-par service.

The milk tea here is pretty damn bad I must say. My tolerance for milk tea is pretty forgiving, but considering where this place is located, I really expected more. Even a Tapioca Express in East Oakland can make a better milk tea than this spot. What’s worse is that this place is pricier than other boba shops. Weak.

What the hell happened to this place? Probably the MERGE with Quickly. Tonight: *Out of QQ balls *Out of HK egg waffles *Out of mango ice cream *Not flexible at all with my L15, Waffle w/ice cream and fresh fruit, I wanted to have small scoops of all the flavors offered, instead of two scoops, made no difference, both strawberry and green tea tasted horrendous, think school cafeteria cups, then down TEN notches, yes THAT bad. The waffle in the picture showed a fluffy belgian type waffle, what I got was two barely warm, not toasted, at least not in color EGGO waffles. I make better toaster waffles at HOME. *Fruit in both our desserts were not fresh AND precut. I don’t care that it’s precut, but do you have to COVER the fruit. Credit card minimum: $ 20. Open late till 1am. It’s all going south QUICKLY.

It is funny how Boba places seems to be in clusters. There is one strip mall in Newark that has 3 of them. This strip mall has 2 of them. There is a Tapex and there there is this one. It has Quickly in the name but seems more unique in terms of the look and the menu. Not complaining, I like trying new stuff. The egg puff was interesting and good. The boba drinks are on par with tapex. Can you buy the«People love us on Unilocal» sticker? Cos this place has one but only has 2.5 stars which is interesting.

This place has gone downhill. I went one time before in 2008 and I went again yesterday. The experience was probably as awful as it can get. The servers really didn’t know what they were doing and it took a long time to fill the orders. I went with two friends. My one friend ordered the strawberry sundae and the servers started slicing bananas and eventually made a banana boat. And after waiting 20 minutes and complaining to the owner about the missing sundae(by then the rest of us were done with our order) the owner brought out the banana boat and told us that it was free. The strawberry sundae that came later look nothing like a strawberry sundae on the picture(it was strawberries with ice on the bottom and tiny tapioca drenched in some lightly sweeten liquid and then a giant scoop of green tea ice cream on top– a very dreadful combination) It could possible that because the place has joined with Quickly that it is under new management but I would really think the place needs better staff training and quality control.

This is yet another one of my comfort place to come to since I am so familiar with this place. I am a regular here and so I’ve tried a lot of their desserts here over the years. The ‘tofu flower’(hot tofu that is slightly sweet) appears to be very popular and often sell out if you’re too late. The crazy blue sodas you see are a bit on the wild side but it has a very good an unique taste to it. Recently I got the sago looking thing that looks like frog eggs… you know the ones with a little black dot in it? Well. I am soooo hooked now because the next time I go, I’m going to order one GIANT bowl with only that in it. =D
