I hate updating my reviews with a poorer rating, but unfortunately my last experience here compels me to. The food quality ranged from from mediocre to poor. Since last time I thought my paneer tikka masala had too many unnecessary spices, I opted for the malai paneer instead, one of the signature dishes here and boy was I disappointed. There was no flavor at all. I barely got through half the dish. I’ve made better cream-based paneer dishes at home. I tried my friend’s rajma and wasn’t impressed by that either. Also, I’m not a fan of the waiters bringing out the food as soon as it’s done because when 1⁄3 people receive their appetizers, it makes for an awkward situation. All in all, you can definitely find better Indian food in Fremont, and I don’t think I’ll bother coming back here again.

Well, place was good. But I don’t like the food & service at all that was mine bad experience.

One the best places for Rajma and Chole Bhature in the Bay Area. Feel like they’ve become my regular takeout place(at least thrice a week).

This is one of several chaat bhavan franchise restaurants focusing on the south asian community. The chaat is pretty decent but there are some decent chaat places close by. This one’s a tad more pricey, but this location is more organized then some of the competitors. The décor is new, clean and well laid out. There is a small bench where the take away order people can sit pleasantly while waiting and I find the dining area to be slightly better then most places of this type, both in layout and comfort. Standout menu items include paneer wraps. This is a oversized roti roll with paneer with all the fixin’s. Their menu also includes such indo chinese items such as hakka noodles and gobi manchurian. If you never tried those fusion dishes you should, they are pretty tasty.

I simply love the chat at this place. Samosa Chat, Pani Puri, aloo tikki and their famous chai, all bring smile to your face and soul. Perfect place to Indulge. They have also started offering free wi fi in case you need it. We have been going to this place for all my chat hankering since 2010.

Food is awesome. Service is really bad. People can go if they only care about the food and not bout the service.

Food is good but the service has gone downhill, not enough servers to serve the weekend crowd. Wish the owner reads about it and does something

Pretty good place. Service was quick. No hassle and good tasting food Their Parathas are good and so is their thali…

I think this one definitely goes on my favorite Indian restaurant list. We ordered dal tikki masala(served with yogurt), makke ki roti and sarson ka saag. Paneer tikka wrap was on the spicier side but very appetizing. Would highly recommend.

Loved this place! Nice, big, bright, quick, and friendly(parking can be tight on the weekend though). They really have an impressive menu with innovative vegetarian items — including thallis(platter). I bet you can go to this place for 3 weeks in a row and still you may not exhaust their menu items. They have a special Indian(non-alcoholic) drink menu(see pic) with some items that will make you nostalgic and long for India. $ 8.95 for a veggie platter with two desserts, two entrees, rice, two rotis, and yogurt raita — sumptuous! To top it, it comes with an app — bhel. Now, the bhel is not going to make you miss Mumbai — but still it was a reasonable preparation. But wait there is more — hot tea is included with the thali! That’s your four course meal right there! My dining companion ordered vada pav which was also well prepared. Another good Unilocal find!

One word of caution. Their catering business is incredibly unreliable. They show up late! We used them and it was very nerve racking to have all our guests arrive yet not know where the heck the caterer is. Is there such a thing as an Indian catering firm which will: 1. Arrive on time, 2. Cook decent food and 3. Be somewhat professional? If you know somebody(anybody) who meets this low standard, can you please share? Many thanks.

Quite surprised that people rate this restaurant highly. We ordered paranthas after told this place is known for them. Quite frankly, they were rather unbalanced in the flavor profile. Some bites were completely bland while others over spiced. One would imagine that from the taste the food is catering to the Silicon Valley crowd, but most of the people were Indian. So, why so bland. Worse. The service. Indian restaurants are usually not known for their service, but the apathetic nature of the staff was eye rolling. They were generally inattentive and when eventually responding to a wave(usually ignoring more subtle eye contact) would often defer the request to someone else. Overall, not impressed.

Friends were telling good opinion of this place. Me and my wife recently went there to try out. We tried the Thali meals and Chola battura. Was not happy. Food was not tasty or spicy. It was bland. I think they have larger audience(spice intolerant customers) in mind and that might be the reason they cook like this. Ambiance was good. Clean place. Bit expensive that other chat shops around.

Pathetic service and bad food! No one came to take our order for 20 minutes, water wasn’t served even when we asked for it. Ordered Gobi Manchurian($ 8.99), paneer tikka masala, vada pao and butter naans. Except butter naans, nothing was good! Preparation was so hasty, Gobi Manchurian arrived in 4 big chunks, each the size of an apple, sauce was too sweet! Paneer tikka masala, serving was little and had really tiny pieces of cottage cheese, the sauce was so not restaurant style! Paneer used wasn’t paneer tikka, therefore their concept was totally wrong. When I told the server about not getting water, and food being not delectable at all, he just stood there and gave us our cheque. Mentioned the same to cashier Gary Singh, he didn’t care. Wow, that’s a perfect closure to this incompetent service and below par food. Would not return here ever! So many better places with impeccable service and scrumptious food in the bay.

The food is so good! Service is nice, a little slow, granted it was packed when we went, although the food came out rather fast. We had: — Dahi Bateta Sev Poori(BESTEVER! And you get like 8!!) — Samosa Chaat(TODIEFOR!) — Garlic Naan(yum!) — Veggie Biryani(Really tasty) — Kadhi Pakora(wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t order this again) — Panneer pakora(don’t get these. they are not worth it. There are so many other great dishes on the menu to waste your palette on these) — Gulab Jamun(I didn’t like these warm and we only got two pieces. You’re better off getting them at a specialty sweets shop)

Back at it again with another update this time around — we ordered the bhel thali and the dabeli. The bhel thali is definitely a bargain at $ 8.99 for the amount of food served! You get a full thali with a variety of items, in addition to what seems like a nearly full-size portion of bhel. The dabeli was interesting — very similar to a vada pav with a few additional ingredients(like peanuts!). It was also double the size of a single vada pav. Interesting flavor combinations, and quite a filling little sandwich for lunch, but I can’t say I’d order this again here. Yes, the service is still minimal(one server and one cleaner during the lunch hours). Yes, you still have to flag down the server for water refills and/or to order. Overlook these nuances, and you’ll probably enjoy the food.

Normally, this place is great and deserves the 4 stars I left in my previous review, but they just started this extremely obnoxious and disgusting practice: wheeling around a giant dirty dish cart(see posted picture). Most restaurants wait until after people are done eating to take the plates away and usually it’s done by waiters that carry the plates from the tables. This dirty dish cart practice is really lazy and it is DISGUSTING to see all of the leftover food and dirty plates next to you while you eat. Okay management you’re busy, but please please don’t resort to doing something this disgusting. Tell the waiters to have a little patience. Definitely ruined the taste of the great food normally made.

The remodel Chaat Bhavan looks nice, they even redid the bathroom and put a sink outside and added some décor. so kudos to them for updating their look. The food here is decent for what you pay for. its pretty good price for a snack combo where you get choice of two variety of chaat food. Their chaana batura and pau bhaji are pretty good as well. so food wise i think its pretty good and now they added a bit of ambiance to the place. There customer service is spotty at best, the but i do believe its improving, they could do with some new silverware and plates. But i still keep going back here as its one of my go to places for chaat and pani puri.

I tried this place for the first time and it was delicious :) OMG! So freaking good. My coworker is from India and he approves the quality of the food. I have no idea what we ordered but I just ate like there’s no tomorrow. I know I know, can’t resistant all the savory spices. The service is a bit slow though. The lassi was a good drink-this is going to be my to go spot for lunch from now on. The location is a bit awkward since it right by the 880 exit.
