Outside of dinner, I went there once during a craving for Naan, this story deserves telling. i wanted to buy a few Naans, and no food. Typically restaurants won’t do that, because they don’t exactly make money on the breads. More importantly, each naan is made individually in the tandoor and may distract from the other cooking. The man doing the takeout order, probably the owner, on being asked for just a few servings of naan, tells me they don’t typically do that. Of course the restaurant had customers, food to serve etc. «But,» he continued, «I will not let you leave empty handed.» so he got one of his cooks to come to the tandoor and whip up a few quick naans for me to take and be on my way. Full points for service!

The review is for the prices, the food is okay, too spicy for me but my husband likes it. They ask for credit card if it is 20 or more cash if less, uh who carries cash anymore? Overall, okay but not really feeling it…

The food was good. BUT. READCAREFULLY! The menu prices are NOT what you’re charged. After ordering takeout, we noticed that the receipt prices were HIGHER than menu. Upon talking to the gentleman up at the register, he spent a few minutes trying to explain that the computer system had the right(more expensive) prices and the menu was outdated. NOTOURPROBLEM! You can’t charge something that’s not on your menu. The garlic naan price was higher and samosa as well by $ 1 more per item. NOTOK! I’m really uncomfortable with this and hope others bring it to their attention!

I’ve been to Fremont several times before I moved here recently and always heard chutney raved about by family members. In the past I had had it and it was absolutely delicious, not too greasy, very fresh, fluffy naan and the rice was as good as my mother makes at home. I recommend the chicken tikka masala– a classic dish and especially friendly for those who can’t handle too much spice. Combined with a mango lassi and it’s an epic meal. Some friends had told me it’s changed over the years, but the quality is just as good the past few times I’ve been as it was years ago– they’re very consistent, the kitchen is clean and they’re very friendly. A great space especially if you have a big family or group as their restaurant is quite accommodating.

Food is pretty good. But don’t order online… I just did and then called to check status and they didn’t have it. I had email confirmation but the lady who answered said only her boss has access to the email. So, if he’s not there… super stoop

Always great service. Recommend the Chicken tikka masala, rice pullao, chicken breast tandoori, lamb bata, samosas, and their naan.

Had a great meal here– found spices to be lighter than the other two ‘cornerstone’ desi restaurants in the Bay Area which was a pleasant change: 1 chicken tandoor — very good 2. Malai kofta — very good great sauce 3 naan — good 4 karahi goat — average — wanted more bony meat — not much oomph 5 daal — very good daal

I will give 0 stars, I ordered veg biryani, chicken jalfareji and naans for to go order. The quantity as they say is their«standard» size is actually very«less». We are their regular customer thats why neglected their previous mistakes when they gave less chicken pieces or what so ever. But it happens even after reminding them. Although they did assure but never did anything about it. I wont recommend this place to any of my friends. «Not satisfied»

Oh my god. How does this place pass sanitary inspections? Extremely filthy. Food was exceptional. No ice in this establishment. All workers are huddled at one table talking. CUPS have left over residue from previous drink.

It’s been a long time since I indulged chutney again. Food and. cuatomer service was as good as always. Is it just me or did the rice plate get smaller?

The food is just amazing. I have never had chicken tandoor better than this place. Less expensive and almost every item is superb. Highly recommend this place. Please go for chicken tandoor(leg piece must).

Initially I ordered one samosa chat and one veg wrap. Unfortunately samosa want available so I ordered two veg wraps to go. It took too long to get it ready. Very poor hygiene level. When I opened at home, the wraps were taste less and bland. I tried to put some salt and paper to get it going but couldn’t go more then two bites. I had to go to nearest chipotle to get something for dinner. My wife just had one bite and threw away. Never going again. Please save your hard earned money and go somewhere else.

Eh I have experienced much better. The customer service is okay, not at its best. The Chicken Tikka Masala — tastes more like butter chicken — and isn’t delicious at all. The Naan is usually soft, but again not that great. They offer sambosa, whenever they have it available ini bite size pieces(not regular size) which they fail to mention to you until it is served. The tea is usually good, just as it is anywhere else. Nahari is pretty disgusting — please don’t attempt to order that, unless you have no taste buds. The place seems clean from the times I have been there. OVERALL: I would not be coming back here, there are better Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the area. Hopefully this review will be useful for their business to improve.

Food quality is average. Don’t try their kababs or tandoor items. Mostly they overcook it or even burn it. Only plus here is they are open late.

I guess, I was the first customer of that day. The person who did welcome me was polite. I ordered fish tandoori which was mentioned as chef recommended. I ordered goat biryani along with it. It was to go and I got tamarind Chutney, mint Chutney(am assuming), raita on sides. * The tamarind Chutney was very thick. Thick as a solid material and I had to use a spoon to dig out everything from that very little cup. It tasted good though. * The mint as I was assuming it to be was just watery and basically tasted like salt water. I don’t know whether it’s mint Chutney or salt water which is one of their speciality or something else. It was not good. * raita was not good. ** Now the chef recommended fish tandoori. Why is it very sour, black in color and awful? Is it the way it has to be their special dish or is it their cooking negligence? * The goat biryani was like meat pieces seperated from goat curry and the rice was like white rice mixed in oil, salt and chilli powder. Again, I don’t know whether it’s the way the restaurant cooks it or it’s some negligence. Overall, I didn’t enjoy the food.

First time eating here since my friends were raving about it and I can definitely see why. The menu is pretty simple and price ranges from $ 1 to $ 15, but beware the dish sizing are actually quite larger than expected. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala($ 7 – 10) with Naan($ 1) and a refreshing Mango Lassi($ 2 – 3), and within 3 – 5 minutes my food was delivered. I actually prefer eating spicy food, but the Chciken Tikka Masala was no where near spicy. The chicken also seemed to have been burnt and was more chewy like lamb. Not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be made but if you’re not a fan don’t worry because they only give about 4 – 6 pieces of the chicken. Although the Chicken Tikka Masala wasn’t as spicy as I had expected it to be it was still delicious, especially with the Naan or Biryani. Now, the Naan itself was absolutely delicious. I honestly felt like I could’ve eaten 5 of those just by themselves. I HIGHLY recommend everyone to order a Naan with whatever dish; you will not regret it. The Mango Lassi tasted like mango yogurt but had more of a thin/silky texture, but was overall delicious as well. If it’s your first time eating here I also recommend the Mango Lassi. Now, here are the cons about this place: –parking lot is small and somewhat compact –the inside of the restaurant appears dull and unmanaged –several furniture were ripped and broken I feel that Chutney has so much potential, especially with their dishes, but the owners and employees need to manage the place a bit more. Overall, I give Chuteny 4 stars for their food, but am taking one star for their restaurants appearance.
