Last time I came here, my cousins and I ordered 5 gordita de chiccaron… Apparently they were making it already and they ran out of gas halfway making it… Instead of refunding us, they served the gordita half way cooked and my cousin tried it and said the dough was all mushy and it tasted raw and threw up hours later. I’m not too sure how this place passed the health inspection because it looks really dirty inside.

I had high expectations for Tacos El Chavo. Though I did not go for the ever-so-popular gordita(only available with chicharrones– fried pork belly/rinds), I opted for another favorite– the chicken tlacoyo. The portion was rather big, but considering the lack of flavor and spice, it definitely was not worth the $ 6.50. It was the most bland Mexican dish I have ever eaten.

The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because they’re Gorditas are delicious! Also because there is no point in calling in an order and then picking it up. Every single time we do a phone order, they say the time and you still have to wait! It’s never ready! the lady working there last time said that they don’t make the food until you show up. So then what is the point of taking phone orders? I ordered food today and they said it would be ready in 30 mins. I showed up and still had to wait another 20! if you are going to visit this place, you are better off just ordering there.

I had an Al Pastor burrito and it was just ok, def not worth the almost $ 9 it cost. It wasn’t as big as I would expect from a taco trailer for that price. Salsa was good but there was no salsa bar as I’ve read in other posts. I will not be returning.

I ordered a chicken burrito(chicken no where to be found… just a couple chunks) and two tacos to go… waited 35 minutes. First and last time I go there.

Best taco truck ever! The salsa here is to die-for. I’ve never tasted such good salsa. It’s unique each time. Not the same boring stuff everyday. I have the tlacoyo the most. I don’t know of any other trucks(or even restaurants) that sell tlacoyo. ATTENTION: Update: They are still in the Dusterberry location. Thought they had to move. Yay!

Great taco truck. Have been here a couple of time and everything been very good. Favorite is the Al Pastor. Thue make it with roasted pineapple which makes it taste different than any Al Pastor I’ve had before, and I like it better than any other Al Pastor(sweeter than spicy). Located in front of Autopia car wash on Dusterberry Way

Out of chicken on 11:30 am? So order 2 beef tacos $ 3.50 «$ 0.45»(very expensive tax) = $ 3.95. The taste very average. In 10 minutes I didn’t see the chef wearer gloves or wash hands. The IRS& health department better check out. They take«CASH» only !

Very average. Order was incorrect and my husband had to wait in the hail for them to fix it. Tacos were super small with minimal amount of meat. Maybe better when not«to go», but its a taco truck should be fast and a great deal. Tlacoyo was the best item. Not sure I would try again.

Went to wash my car… Needed a little snack to hold me down. Grabbed one chicken and one beef taco. They have a simple but very fresh salsa bar… Meat was juicy and not chewy… No complaints… This place hit the spot…

I found myself in a part of Fremont where there were 3 highly rated taco trucks within a half-mile radius of each other. Tacos El Chavo was my second stop after Tacos El Compadre(review will come later). Chavo, located right next to a Autopia Car Wash is a taco trailer, not truck. Sitting there like a broken down wagon without a menu on display, you should know what you want before walking up to the window. I did my research on Unilocal before ordering so I was ready to go. SUADEROTACO ~ $ 1.50 each ~ 5 stars: Suadero is the portion of the cow that hangs from the breast bone. When grilled properly the meat delivers both excellent texture and great flavor. Chavo was spot-on with the preparation, it did not disappoint. Imagine the flavor of carne asada but with a shredded beef texture, but way more tender and flavorful. That’s what you get with Chavo’s suadero. Hands down the best taco I had here. CABEZATACO ~ $ 1.50 each ~ 4 stars: Cabeza or beef head is cut from a cow’s cheek. It’s lean so when cooked right it’s very tender. Think fliet mignon but not so lavish. Very good seasoning and excellent texture. ALPASTORTACO ~ $ 1.50 ~ 3 stars: Al pastor is pork that’s carved, almost like gyros. Some places will serve with a thin slice of pineapples. Although I love tacos al pastor, Chavo’s rendition was very average. They cut the meat too thick and the flavor wasn’t great. The title of best tacos al pastor in Fremont still belongs to Tacos Negris in Niles. CARNEASADATACOS ~ $ 1.50 ~ 3 stars: Average. Not great, not bad. But if you’re a fan of carne asada, you’ll probably enjoy them here. One cool thing to point out about Chavo is the fact you can see directly into their trailer. One side is a window that runs from one side to the other, giving you a clear path of vision to the cooks and grill so you can see everything. Some food trucks are shady and you have no idea what they’re doing in there but at Chavo, don’t sweat it. They’re completely transparent with how they prepare their food. Another awesome thing is their salsa bar which is built into their trailer. If you go to the left of the trailer(opposite end of the front window), you’ll find two discreet sliding doors. Open them and you’ll be graced with an AWESOME red sauce, fresh cut salsa, limes, onion, cilantro and other offerings. Go crazy with it. You won’t be disappointed. Expect to wait at least 15 minutes for your food after you place your order. They’re a tad slow but it’s worth the wait. Maybe place your order and go next door to get your car washed to kill some time.

Not exactly a taco truck, but rather a taco trailer. It needs to get hitched to a truck and I can’t believe they can fit a kitchen in there but they do and boy can they make it work. Cool spot to hit up if waiting at the car wash(same property) or after you get your number at DMV across the street(don’t worry DMV lines move SLOWWW!) Sure they’ve got all the usual suspects… tacos, quesadillas and gut-bustin’ ritos. BUT what sets this place apart from all other trucks in the area is they offer Suadero(fine-grained meat from the breast area) that is fattier, thus richer than your basic carne asada. And they crisp it super nice here which gets me to swoon. AND they offer Tlacoyos to put said suadero on. Tlacoyos is like a taco on steroids. It’s masa dough patted flat yet thick and grilled with grease. It is then topped with refried beans, meat of choice, nopales(cactus), queso fresco and cilantro/onion(optional). It is only about 6 bucks but it is filling and a mouth explosion of flavors. I once ate one of these monsters while I got my car washed(25 minutes) only to get back in line at DMV to see my number progress only 4 slots. I still had to wait another 40 minutes but at least my car was clean and my belly was nice and happy. See how I roll?!

Decent lil spot if you got 30 – 40 minutes to kill at the DMV like I did. El Chavo has a DF sign on it and I really know nothing about De Efe other than chilangos like to brag about it. Mebbe this spot is authentic DF style? I don’t know ? So anyway I got the tlacoyo especial con al pastor which is basically a huarache with beans cooked into it. It’s cool, kinda like a really big sope with some nopales, al pastor and cheese on top. It’s pretty damn good. Also got the gorditas con chicharrones. They were nicely sized and super tasty. Definitely recommended !! The tacos are really taquitos(no not rolled tacos /flautas) and go for a $ 1.50 If you come here just for tacos you may be a little disappointed. The burritos looked pretty huge for you burrito lovers out there. Oh and they got a nice lil salsa /onions and cilantro bar set up. Also the al pastor cooks on a mini trompo so that’s cool. Definitely worth checking out if there are 20 numbers ahead of you at the Fremont DMV or you’re getting your car washed next door. Get the tlacoyos and gorditas you won’t be disappointed.
