I came here with my boyfriend after we found a groupon. Decided to give it a try since we always go to the same sushi places. We ordered the boneyard, the tatauya-age, and the three kind roll. The boneyard was absolutely delicious! It was so tender, the meat just fell off the bone. The roll was pretty tasty as well as the karage, but I think the boneyard is a winner. It’s a pretty decent portion(we really underestimated it) and we will definitely be back to try some of their other rolls. I had to take away one star because the service was very slow. It must be because they just opened. Growing pains, it happens. Service aside, the food was really good. We were pleasantly surprised!

The boneyard plate is delicious– absolutely to die for. It’s fall-off-the-bone good. It’s like they drenched the meat in a vat of butter and then threw it on a plate for you to enjoy and devour. Yums. Everything else here is decent, although pales in comparison to the boneyard plate. Really, this is the only reason you should try this place. I enjoy the quiet, upscale-ish atmosphere and the friendly waitstaff. This place is kid-friendly– this is only me going off of how many kids were in the place the night that I dined. Pretty much every party aside from ours had at least one child in attendance. A little odd, I thought, since the food did seem to be more on the higher end side, but whatevs– it may just be that my own offspring prefer a bowl of mac and cheese to a delish plate of deliciousness. Will come back for the boneyard. Will recommend for the boneyard.

A superb meal. Excellent food, excellent service. «Fusion» tends to leave me skeptical, but Usagi House is certainly fusion done right. We had the«All About Fish» 2 kinds of sashimi: yellowtail and salmon. The quality was impressive. Slices were fat and sensual, had presence. I savored every bite. The salmon was rolled up like a rose — I regret not taking a photo. We were served soup & salad even though we didn’t order any lunch combo type deal. The pickled daikon in the salad was a refreshing delight, very unique. Our starter was Wheels of Fire. Texture and flavors perfect, didn’t need soy or anything else. I was disappointed they didn’t have ankimo. But the mongo ika in its place was lovely, very appetizing. Their rolls are generous. A bit more rice than I care, and did not taste like sushi rice necessarily. But tasty overall. We had The Flames & Green Roll, the latter vegetarian, because I always say that is a true measure of a restaurant: whether they can make vegetarian delicious. I appreciate the chef not going crazy slapping on gobs of ingredients as can happen at some places. These were better balanced. Both rolls were delectable but I enjoyed the relative simplicity of the Green Roll, the play between sweet and tang and savory — wakame and shiitake, who knew that could be so magical? Service was warm and kind, very friendly. There was initially a mixed up with our sashimi. Our server detected the error right away and fixed it without prompt, without disrupting the flow of our meal. All the while with a smile.(Essentially two servers tended to us. Both exuded ease and grace and are to be commended.) Décor is clean & minimalist modernist, not fancy. Parking ample. A pleasant experience, fair pricing, no fuss. Thumbs up!

I recently bought a Groupon for this restaurant and Oh was I excited to come especially after seeing all the yummy food that they have to offer. I called for a reservation and made it for 8pm. I get there that night and I have to admit it was packed house! In my mind, I’m like«Don’t worry I made reservations so ill get a seat soon, right?» umm NO! I was WRONG! As soon as I walk in the young male greeter states, «We are closed, we are to full, not taking anymore people». NA, NA, NA Don’t tell me that after I just drove all the way out here! I was so upset when he said that, I turned around and walked right out. Would I come back? I really don’t know, i felt hat they need to get a bigger restaurant, honestly! As of right now, I’m not even interested in coming back. I’ve got a refund from Groupon and said 2 tears in a bucket… I did want to try their Bone Yard dish as many people here are raving about it! But as of now ill pass on this restaurant!

That bone yard dish, its really good and a good deal, come here for this. Three of us came here on a Friday night a couple weeks ago and it was packed, but we only had to wait 15 mins to get seated. I think maybe the servers were a bit overwhelmed this night, my friend who’s been here before said she’d never seen it that busy. Here is what we had: Wheel on fire — 4 stars(nice flavor, 5 bites) Bone yard — 4.5 stars(very tender, big portion) lazy garlic rice tho. Tatsuta-age — 3.5(like karage) Crispy clown — 1 star, a small piece of soft shell crab, then stuffed with imitation crab, maybe they ran out of soft shell?, not a fan of soy nori paper I realized. Agadashi tofu — 2 stars, pretty firm tofu used, almost no broth(dipping sauce on the bottom) Perhaps some of the shortcomings we experienced were due to it being busy, I’d come back for the bone yard dish. Also just a note, $ 1 sake is only Mon-Thur despite the sign being up.

$ 1 sake Mon-Thurs! Small place, but nice looking. Food is delicious. Get the Bone Yard dish ~$ 15! Bone yard has beef ribs and oxtail. It is so tender! Sake is good too. Seaweed salad was small, but good. Not sure if the miso soup and salad are complimentary or not, but they were standard. Sushi was ok. Check in on Unilocal to get a free appetizer when you spend $ 25.

Got a deal on Groupon to try out this place– it’s a cute and cozy Japanese restaurant. It doesn’t look like a Japanese restaurant but more of an organic place. We tried the spider nest, chicken teryaki and agagashi tofu and it was ok. I liked how they put the French toast on the soft shell crab — it was very good. Hubby got the toshi toshi and 3 kinds rolls. Toshi was very good. 3 kinds was just missing some kinda sauce. He had to dip it in soy sauce and wasabi which he NEVER does. All in all, Will come back here again!

To start off, this place has a very nice environment. I went around 15 minutes before they closed for the afternoon so there weren’t too many customers. I ordered a lion king and my friend ordered unagi nigiri. $ 20 with a 15% tip. It wasn’t the best quality but since it’s Fremont I’ll say it’s alright. I will probably return since it was acceptable.

Usagi House is not your typical Japanese restaurant. They specialize in Japanese fusion food, which means if you’re looking for a sushi or ramen fix, this isn’t the place to go. But if you’re looking for some tasty grub with a Japanese twist, this is your stop! The décor inside is clean, modern, and spacious. We arrived for an early dinner and got there soon after they opened at 5PM. Although we were the first customers in the door, the place quickly filled up with other patrons within minutes. That’s a sign that they’re doing something right. We took the advice of our fellow Unilocalers and ordered the Spider’s Nest(a twist on soft-shell crab and the typical Spider Roll), the Bone Yard(their signature dish of slow cooked ribs, oxtail, and cabbage in a special broth), and a Lion King and Rainbow Roll(just to try out the sushi that they had). The Spider’s Nest is like an elevated form of chicken and waffles — you get a few pieces of deep-fried soft shell crab with French toast and honey aioli. If you’re a fan of savory and sweet combos like I am, give the Spider’s Nest a try. The Bone Yard is GIGANTIC. When you finish eating all of the ribs and oxtails, it really is like a bone yard in your bowl. The dish is definitely packed with flavor, and the meat is cooked to perfection — fall-off-the-bone tender! The broth was a bit too salty after a while, but I’m glad that they gave a side of rice to neutralize the strong flavor. The rolls were nothing special, which goes back to my original statement of don’t come here for typical Japanese cuisine. The fish was fresh enough, but I wouldn’t recommend this place to someone who is craving sushi. Come for the unique Japanese fusion food!

Perhaps I should have lowered my expectations coming in. Or am I asking for too much by expecting water, plates, napkins and utensils? My fiancé dined here on a Monday night after reading the spectacular reviews. When we sat down we realized that the service would be nonexistent. First, didn’t get menus after being seated. Second, when we were seated the cashier and server completely ignored us. I had to remind the server to give us menus, water, napkins, and utensils. After reviewing the menu I finally got the server’s attention to place my order. After ordering our waters never came so I reminded the server again. He gave us tea instead of water. Ok no big deal so I asked again for water but then it came half full. When our first two orders arrived we waited for plates and utensils. Neither came so I asked the cashier two more times! Thee food was either greasy, overly sweet, overcooked or tasteless. One of the entrees was supposed to come with garlic rice but they served us plain rice instead. When I told the server, he brought out a bowl of rice topped with a dollop of garlic paste. What a joke! After 30 minutes we wondered what happened to our other two orders. It turns out the server forgot to enter them into the system. Without any apologies or follow up the staff kept us waiting… and waiting. After not getting any service and having to ask for everything at least twice, I just cancelled the orders. Bottom line, the service was as disappointing as the food. If they don’t even know to at least provide plates, napkins, and utensils to patrons I’m not sure how it will continue to stay in business.

I don’t know what I was thinking, but I was sorely underwhelmed by the food served here. For example, the Scallopy roll. Being an avid fan of anything containing scallop, I just had to order it. I thought it would have actual slices of hotate, but instead there was just a tiny scallop propped on top of what tasted like a regular California roll. I wasn’t expecting it to be baked either, but maybe I should have read the description more carefully. Also, I ordered the Crispy Crown roll, which I found too sweet. Maybe it was the honey aioli sauce but the combination of sweetness and fish just didn’t seem right to me. I feel like this restaurant is those restaurants where their dish descriptions sound better than they actually taste. The rest of my party ordered lunch specials which they thought were pretty good. If anything, it sounds like what they’re known for is the Boneyard Special, which does sound delicious. I probably should have just stuck with that. However, some positives(before I move on to the negatives): their vegetarian roll options sound much more creative and more appealing than the typical cucumber/avocado roll offered at most sushi restaurants, which I can imagine getting very tiresome to vegetarian sushi lovers. I recall seeing that some of the rolls contained components such as tofu tempura, avocado tempura, and seaweed salad. Even for meat eaters, they sound pretty delicious. The décor had an aesthetically pleasing natural/hip vibe to it, but when it comes to actually sitting down on the wooden benches/chairs, it’s just uncomfortable! They didn’t have hooks either, so I guess you gotta figure out a way to put your purse/jacket someplace else without it falling onto the ground. The service was also questionable. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled with good service in NY, but the waiters here seemed kind of distant and not too friendly. Whatever. I just feel like considering the amount of sushi options around the Bay Area, smiles can go a long way in customer satisfaction. However, I was not convinced by the hype, I will have to pass on Usagi House.

I love Usagi House! I’ve been here multiple times [came twice in two days…], and whether it’s busy or slow, I’ve always gotten really great service. My favorites are definitely the Bone Yard and the salmon sashimi, but I’ve never had anything bad here. The scallopy roll is really unique, and soooo good as well. I think the owner was helping us out yesterday, and he was so nice & informative! He even sat down with us to help us decide which rolls to get, based on our fish preferences. Nothing but love for Usagi House — it’s quickly become my «go to» sushi place in Fremont.

I love this place! It sticks out like a hippy sore thumb in a low-key plaza. They have a bunch of vegetable pictures on the walls and their logo is a plant but they’re mainly non-vegetarian. Which I think is a bit ironic. But their food is awesome and their prices reflect how unique their main entrees are. But its worth it! There’s not many people usually. Which we like since we hate waiting for anything. Definitely get the Boneyard. Its as good as people say. The Spider Nest is like a savory crab & toast combo. Never seen it before and tastes awesome! Plus $ 1 Hot Sake Night on Friday. Its a no brainer! I haven’t tried any of their rolls or sushi since this place doesn’t look like it concentrates on those. Only downside I can think of is their uncomfortable wood furniture. I get a backache sitting on their short stools for some reason. But its a great place to go on a date!

This place is fantastic. I don’t normally write reviews for any restaurant but when I do, I prefer to be honest and sincere. This place is a small business with great customer service, super clean, quality and great tasting food. It is also very affordable. I have been here multiple times and for some reason, I just can’t help it but to keep coming. The lunch specials are my favorite. Love fish? Please try the grilled mackerel And tell me your experience with it. Good luck.

I came to this place expecting a regular sushi restaurant but instead I found a really modern looking, simple place. I also found out the owner of the place’s wife was a long time friend of my mom’s, which was really exciting&served as a really cute reunion for them. The menu isn’t a typical sushi place menu, instead it’s a lot more creative&unique dishes instead of rolls. They still have rolls though! We ordered a lot&it was honestly all delicious(my family had like 3 orders each oops.) but I’ll just talk about like three of them. My aunt had their signature dish, the Bone Yard, which was huge. It definitely had to be shared because of all the food. It was delicious — super tender, fall off the bone, &bursting with flavor. I savored every bite I had of it. I had the Spider Nest but I thought French toast? What the… When it came though, it had beautiful plating&was nothing like I expected. It was so delicious though. The crab was savory&the French toast… I want to have it every day for the rest of my life. So good. I also had a Dragon on the Plate which was really good too. I couldn’t finish it because I was stuffing my face with everyone else’s food though. Oops. I adore this place&can’t wait to come back!

Usagi is a carefree schoolgirl, who can transform into Sailor Moon, an accident-prone crybaby, who is on a mission to find Princess Serenity with other 4 inner sailor senshis. Actually, no, cut that, Usagi is a little nice quaint restaurant off on Washington Boulevard next to Subway in the plaza where Safeway is. I was pretty impressed with the high ratings, so I had high expectations for this nice artsy, modern restaurant with a little definite Japanese sensibility. Michael N. had the teriyaki lunch special that comes with a salad, a bowl of rice, and a slice of watermelon with a side order of crunch CA rolls. $ 9.5(lunch special) + $ 8~(roll) I ordered the Boneyard plate as Unilocalers were raving about. It was good and super tender! It’s in large portion served with a bowl of rice with garlic. Probably the most expensive in the menu… $ 15~. Miso soup is complimentary. Service, on the other hand, could be more attentive as there were no customers but us. Solid 3.5 stars.

Good neighborhood choice for some non-fancy Japanese dishes. The décor is simple yet welcoming. The famous chef special: Bone Yard is a must try, the meat is so tendered and the taste is awesome~ Staffs are friendly and patiently explain their cooking method as one person in our group has food allergies. Overall, great dining experience and will definitely come back again~~

Would not recommend. I came here with some family one night around 7 o’clock. We were able to park right in front of the restaurant. Before exiting the car we noticed that no one that was in the restaurant besides the 2 waiters, so we were really skeptical about eating here. But in the end we all decided that we would try something new. We were seated right away, my cousin and I ran for the booth seat because it had a backing, and my brothers were left with two short wooden stools. The overall experience was unpleasant, because we’d have mishaps every here and there. Minor problems: — My brother’s sushi came out 10 mins before everyone else’s. — The waiter packed the left over sushi and basically destroyed every piece turning the entire thing into a clump of rice and fish. — The waiter kept checking in on us every 5 mins, but when it came time to ask for the check he disappeared for like 15 mins. — We told him about the 10 percent off for checking in, but when he gave us our bill I noticed it wasn’t deducted. We had to wait a while for them to print a new receipt. Major problems: — I ordered the rainbow roll and the fish did not taste fresh at all, the worse I’d ever had. — The roll said it’d come with 5 different types of fish. I didn’t know avocado was a fish. They literally topped one of the 8 pieces with avocado instead of fish. — I went to the bathroom within 30 mins of eating here and literally went again 3 times after that. — I had to take 2 painkillers to stop the sharp pain in my stomach. — I was super angry because I was leaving on a trip the next morning. — My brother also texted me that he was having stomach problems. I learned to not trust a place that sells both ribs and sushi. Also, not to trust a sushi restaurant that doesn’t have their sushi chef seen in the front end.

SOOOOOOODELICIOUS! I am genuinely impressed! Knowing the restaurant in this area has high turn over rate I wasn’t expecting anything extra ordinary. Boy was I wrong. Great décor, super oober friendly staff(my water never went below half way empty). He even asked if we want regular or low sodium soy sauce. Food came out really quick. The bone yard was really flavorful and sushi was really fresh too. The red bean ice cream was delicious and the waiter said its made by a company from Japan. You also get 10% off your Unilocal check in so hey! Cant complain about that! Will definitely come back!
