Probably one of the better sushi restaurants in Fresno. I’m just going to stop testing my luck elsewhere and stick with Kuni. Sorry I’ll be loyal now hehe I’ve been here a couple times and haven’t had a bad experience! We sat at the bar once because the floor was full, and the chef was super nice to give us an appetizer on the house. Note to self: sit the bar more often ;)

My friends and I had a great experience with the Teppanyaki chef. The food was delicious and the chef was a blast. Overall the staff was very friendly and the place was clean. We will definitely be back. If you’re doing Teppanyaki, then ask for Eddie. He’s hilarious.

Normally, I would give this place a 4⁄5. However, this review is for my experience last Sunday. Service was slow. The waiters/waitresses tended to the larger party but did not stop by ours after the order. I do not recommend ordering sushi, as it was rather old. The fish seemed dry from being out too long and the tuna appeared far more red than usual. I understand the restaurant is located in the central valley, but I have had better elsewhere. Overall, I would say this is a good place for their other dishes, but avoid the sushi if you do not want to be disappointed.

OMG! Why on earth did I not go here sooner?! Love the way it looks inside, sushi is so fresh and uniquely delicious. I am beyond obsessed with P’s Roll.(No rice, wrapped in cucumber) staff is very friendly. I am very happy for this place to be so close to home! I ate there last night and ordered Take out today! …I had to!!!

Interior design is wonderful here. I personally enjoyed it. I read on Unilocal that the Salmon/Yellowtail Collar was really special but unfortunately they were not available upon our first visit. Sushi rolls are good, but very«Texasushi». Massive rolls. I’ve only had sushi like this once before. You can’t fit it in your mouth, and if you’re even more well jaw endowed, you’ll probably still experience pain. Customers can be seen cutting their rolls in half with a fork here. A bit excessive for my tastes. I’ll be back again I’m sure and I’ll update my review when.

Came in with my family to celebrate my sons last track meet. We decided on tepanyaki and were seated immediately. Our chef came and was very friendly and outgoing. The lunch started out great, but soon after the chef started cooking, he reached over to do something on my sons plate and spilled my sons drink all over him. I am talking 20 ounces of cold lemonade all over him, from his chest all the way down to his toes. He was dripping in lemonade. They cleaned up the mess immediately, but my son had to sit for the entire meal cold and sticky. He was a good sport but obviously uncomfortable. The lunch service continued with no more hook ups. When we recieved the bill, we noticed we were charged for the entire bill. We weren’t offered any discounts, not even a free soda for compensation. Was it worth making a stink? Maybe, but why. If a restaurant wants to provide good customer service and make a situation better, they will. I was confused by this, but paid my bill and carried on with my day. That being said, I will not return to this place. I feel like they belittled the fact that my son had to sit uncomfortably during an entire lunch, which was relatively expensive since we didn’t order lunch specials.

After two Teppanyaki experiences at this restaurant, I feel I can safely write a solid review now. Up front, the reason I’m giving 4 stars is because we easily waited about 45 minutes before food at around 3 in the afternoon in a very under-crowded restaurant. Being hangry does mean things for reviews. ;) Other than that, everything was great. Our service was quick when it finally happened, the waitress came by numerous times to check on our drinks and if we wanted to order anything extra from the sushi bar. Our chef was entertaining as always — I count the chefs at KuniSama amongst the most entertaining in the Fresno area, definitely worthwhile just for the show. The food was fairly standard. My husband ordered the West Coast roll, and for the one piece I had, it was a pretty good roll, given that sushi hasn’t impressed me a lot lately. He had a seared ahi lunch special, and I had a combination filet mignon and scallop lunch special. The soup and salad were average, but everything from the cooktop was delicious. I was very happy with the fried rice, which is usually the part of the meal I like least. The vegetables were decent, but the proteins were cooked beautifully. My rare steak was melt-in-your-mouth good, and my scallops were seasoned amazingly, probably the best scallops I’ve ever had. My husband enjoyed his ahi, which was also cooked to a perfect medium. Our chef was careful to check afterward, given that it was his first time cooking the ahi, and he didn’t disappoint. I would definitely recommend calling ahead for a reservation during their busy times, and their busy times with a reservation may actually lead to quicker service than their downtimes. Would definitely go again!

Planned a birthday dinner with friends and sat at the bar for 15 min before someone helped us with a menu and no recommendations for a good beer. Ordered a terrible beer that was warm and over priced. Sat to dinner and the cook was a tall need with glasses with simply has NOFILTER. He was the loudest cook there and insulted my gf by telling her she’s fat, she’s not. Continued to be overly chatty and everyone at the table felt very uncomfortable. I understand the style of being different and fun but insulting and uncomfortableness doesn’t make for great food. NEVERGOINGBACK.

Om my first visit I was not happy with the waitress, however the food is great. This was my second visit to Kuni Sama, food is great and the waitress was excellent. They have a wide selection of plates to chose from. I will defiantly be back.

Customer service is on point! No problems being seated where we wanted, and waitress got our drinks and food orders down shortly after. She was engaging when I asked for drink suggestions and was overall fun to talk to. No complaints about the sushi whatsoever. Everything was delicious except for the Bonzai Oyster Shooters(the price on the menu is for a single order; it doesn’t come in pairs). The oyster, uni, and quail egg in itself were fresh, but the concoction it bathed in wasn’t our thing(first-timers). I wouldn’t recommend ordering it if you’re not a fan of sake. An enjoyable experience; would definitely come back.

Here is my 5 star review! The main reason is for the bartender Edward. I came in tonight about 45 minutes before closing. I requested to sit at the bar since i was by myself. Needed a suggestion for which beer to have and his was perfect! He took my order. We chatted a bit while he did his cleaning and he was super nice. The food was awesome. So was my experience. I will be back to this place lots. I also noticed lotsa takeout ppl coming in which is a plus in my book! Come eat here it’s good food! !!

I never give five stars and the fact that I did says a lot about this place. Atmosphere was very comfortable and inviting. No issues with cleanliness. Service was very prompt and friendly. Temperature was just right… not too hot or cold. The sushi was top notch! Great flavor with very good presentation. I’ll be coming back for sure.

First impression: the atmosphere is nice, although when we walked in the hostess looked at us as if to question what we were doing there. She was hesitant to seat us for some reason, but it was quick seating. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and our sushi rolls came out quickly. Now for the food. I ordered the Booty Booty roll and fish ball(which is basically a fish meatball). My husband ordered the Holy Moly roll and gyoza. The gyoza was good. The fish ball was okay. The rolls were good. Overall it was not bad, and left us full yet unsatisfied. I had difficulty consuming my roll because of the sheer size of the pieces. I don’t like taking more than two bites to eat a piece, as it tends to fall apart. This is exactly what happened. I wasn’t pleased with having to use my fork to eat my sushi. My husband’s and my biggest complaint was that the food was BLAND. It looked nice, but was very lackluster in flavor. This seems to be sushi for people who don’t like sushi. If we come come here again, it would be to try the teppanyaki and definitely not to eat the sushi.

I’m a fan of the teppanyaki here. But I love it even more chef Ang does the cooking. I’ve been here two times before he was our chef & the food wasn’t cooked the way it should have been. A bit salty and etc. So I highly recommend CHEFANG! He’s hilarious and has awesome hot sauce! He cooks everything in a timely style & correctly(which is key). The food here is also a great value for lunch! $ 10.95 you get shrimp, chicken and steak as your proteins ! VALUE! I’ve also had the sushi at the sushi bar & the tiger roll is a favorite here. I used to frequent edo-ya often because their hot and spicy sauce was the best. However, Kunisama has changed that. Along with Kunisama’s clean interior and exterior, the service and humor of the chefs here really make it stand out.

If flashy Japanese cooking is your thing then you’ll love Kunis. Came here on a whim when in the area and wasn’t disappointed very nice clean restaurant with a great freindly staff. The prices here or slightly lower then most Japanese resteraunts in town so that’s a plus. The sushi is amazing very fresh and perfectly prepared the way sushi should be. Food was about average in taste I ordered the combo with shrimp, beef and chicken very reasonably priced. The star of the show had to be the amazing uni I ordered from the sushi menu. I would definitely be back for the sushi.

I wanted to try this place a long time ago! And I went a long time ago so this is a long overdue review! The rolls we got was really yummy. Totally worth the money, we wanted to try the teppanyaki but it was kinda busy and we didn’t wanna wait so we just got sushi rolls and some other appetizer! Our waitress was really friendly and the host Vivian was very sweet and helpful too! Can’t wait to go back try their teppanyaki !!

Was quite impressed by my Unagi-don served up at Kunisama! The rice bowl was filled with slices of avocado and grilled unagi. The portion wasn’t overly generous but the quality of the dish made it A-ok and easy to overlook the $ 16 price tag.(Haven’t had a good unagi-don in awhile @_@) Sashimi appetizer and my friends Gyu=Don looked pretty appetizing as well. Overall, would rate this upstart among the better Japanese options in Fresno.(Comparable to places like Sakura-Chaya)
