The Palms is family owned restaurant, which makes you want to go there in itself. Our girl server [she’s always there, shorter blonde, forget her name but she’s awesome and been there forever] is always accommodating & never too aggressive. The butter lettuce salad is to die for & the spring rolls & bruschetta are delicious! Beautiful ambiance, truly unique. I give credit where credit is due but please continue with my review. This needs to be said. READCAREFULLY. I have talked to numerous people and they know people who know people that this happened to. Be sure to CHECKYOURTAB&MAKESUREALLISCORRECT. I say this because I had dinner with my friend’s family not too long ago. There was no more than 10 people there. We were all having a great time(drinking, yes) but at the end of the night, we noticed there were drinks that 1.) we never ordered– nobody ordered grey goose & that was on there 2.) WAY more drinks than we ordered– at least 5 more drinks than we ordered 3.) a ridiculous amount on the bill at the end of the night. This is unacceptable. They’re a successful enough place where they don’t need to go there. They figured these people have money to spend(which they do) but the server probably had the manager tell her or him to add extra money so their tip would be more. I know why they do this, I’ve been in the restaurant business for years. Shame on them. That right there, makes me never want to go back. So anyone who is reading these– be cautious of this greedy place

If I could give this place a zero I would. Workers were unprofessional. Didn’t know the difference between pure and pureè. Red haired waitress should be retrained in aspects of food service. Our 12 year old shouldn’t ask for options in drinks other than water! Host should wear appropriate clothing, no summer dresses in winter. Almost lost appetite. Staff should make sure salt and pepper are filled prior to serving on tables.(Duh) Lastly, never hold Fiji water in a holder. It’s not Pellegrino. Have a great day.

Must say… i was not expecting to have a great meal because when i was here last two years ago the food was not good. this time around, everything was great. huge portions.very fresh trading food. excellent drinks and cocktails… we had a huge braised lamb shank and super tasty braised kobe beef short ribs. The dolmas appetizer were nice and lemony and very fresh.

Went here for my anniversary. Made a reservation by phone, and the lady who picked up was RUDEEE. She hung up while I was talking to her, and when I called again; she said to just come at 7. She took our name and hung up. When we called once more, someone else picked up and told us we didn’t even have a reservation down. Anyways, when we got there a customer was upset at them not getting her table on time and we had to wait. When we got in there, there were really no customers there. The place so nicely decorated though, and the food was good. Just didn’t like the service. Overall, I didn’t have the best experience there. They should probably hire better servers.

The meat melted in my mouth didn’t need the knife the cut was so tender the fork worked just fine. Absolutely one of the best I’ve ever tasted in 26 years of fine dining. Potatoes heavily over salted. Brussel sprouts and various vegetables a smidge undercooked but still manageable. Carrot, perfect. Risotto over seasoned, over salted, and rice over cooked. Their meal was $ 100, I’m truly appalled a place of this statue would allow something like this through the pass onto a customers plate.

One of my favorite places to eat in Fresno, and I love supporting local business. Family run and can always get me in. I like sitting in the bar area booths overlooking a huge wine selection :-) appetizers my favorite are the oysters and shrimp cocktail. The butterleaf salad is delicious for a starter. Main course I love their risotto. The surf and turf special is always my favorite when they offer it. Usually I don’t have room for dessert so I can’t speak much on that lol. I always leave happy and appreciate the friendly conversation and great food. The location isn’t by much, but it adds to the allure of the place.

Went here on Mother’s Day. To our surprise it was empty and now I know why. Horrible service and the food was subpar. They messed up my mom’s eggs Benedict not once but THREE times. The yolk on the eggs was hard instead of runny. Never EVER going back.

Over rated! Over priced. What was to be a nice family dinner turned out to be an unpleasant dining experience. The Palms is a beautiful restaurant however the food is extremely over priced for the quality. On a Saturday evening, the dining room was only half full, and there was no positive energy in the dining area. Dull and boring. My wife and I split the 22 oz. bone in Prime rib. Ordered medium rare, it was medium well. The meat portion was small and the bone was large. Our guests ordered the short ribs. It had to be returned as the meat was rancid. They literally lost their appetites after one bite. After much apologizing the waiter. offered to replace the dinner and they ordered a pasta dish. What was disappointing was they had the audacity to charge us for the replacement dish. Most top restaurants would gladly comp a replacement dinner. And most top restaurants would have the manager come to the table to offer an apology and alternative dish. I expressed my disappointment and the waiter simply said: sorry. Not even an offer for desert. I have dined in many high end restaurants and this was a huge disappointment. Never again will we frequent the Palms. Save your money!

Last night my wife and went out to dinner at the Palms… I have to say the is probably one of the best restaurants in Fresno… The food is always fantastic and the waitress we had was outstanding!

I’ve ordered the Rockefeller oysters and they were fresh and tasty, the duck is what I had ordered for my main dish and the glaze it comes with along with the risotto pairs perfectly.

This place is beautifully decorated and nice people own it but as far as management they should have nothing to do with a restaurant. Their Piano player is incredibly rude and vulgar and the owners cannot stand up to him. He takes over the Microphone when his friends are around and creates cringe worthy moments which make you want to crawl in a hole! The food is good — décor is nice– but sadly mismanaged during events.

Just called to make a reservation for Mother’s Day brunch. Whoever(some woman) picked up the phone told me «it’s lunch time honey», wouldn’t let me speak and basically hung up… Guess we won’t be having brunch here…

Ownership is arrogant and unable to correct a wrong. The service was good but the food was okay yet my food was cooked incorrectly and cause my wife to eat her meal without me. Did I mention it was Valentine’s Day? Oh and when I stated I was disappointed in the lack of recognition of this issue, they generously took my wife’s crème brûlée off the bio. A joke. This is an example of what once was a premier restaurant in Fresno going down hill and their only response us to screw the customer. My hope is they go bankrupt soon so that other unsuspecting customers do not have to endure this kind of treatment.

Came here 3 – 4 times over last few years. I had filet mignon and it was very good. Salad is fresh and good. Nice ambience. Four stars instead of five because the waitress was a bit short with my friend. Would return for the food though.

I don’t know what went wrong but their Kobe beef tasted like I was eating an extra well done steak at a diner or something. Though cooked perfectly at medium rare it continued to be so tough so we asked if it was Kobe beef. The lady left and never returned with an answer only a discount. Crab cakes were more imitation crab than anything and crab prawns were more bread crumbs than anything else. I guess the lesson here is to never get the special though it was still $ 50.

Went for the CV Lux magazine awards party. Beautiful restaurant and bar area. But didn’t appreciate the piano man scolding the entire bar area that in his 40 years he’s never had a bar NOT completely quiet down when asked. He sure cleared the place after that. Don’t think the owners will have him back… At least I hope not.

Ehhhh… not really all that impressed. First time here we advised the waiter that we wanted to get a drink at the bar. They were sorry, but even though there were only 2 people in the bar, it was closed for a private party. The drinks were very weak. for the price…. Let’s put some alcohol in there That said… The food was good. … just didn’t hit that wow button I was hoping for. .sorry!

Um… this restaurant is definitely not for the youthful. Everybody dining were all WELL over 60 and appeared to be pretty pretentious. Beautiful dining room and there was a live pianist that the guests were gaga over. In fact, I think we heard Sinatra’s New York, New York twice… I thought that the entrees were satisfactory; large portions, heavy, filling. We had the herb crusted salmon and lamb shanks. I liked all the petite vegetables that were served with the dishes. My Caesar salad was very basic – lettuce and out of the jar dressing, 2 croutons, that’s it. The Palm Tower appetizer was fantastic – fish was fresh and I loved the plated sauce. The bread was also very good; served hot out of the oven. We ordered white and red blend wines which were both nice. The desserts were extremely disappointing. The bread pudding was a jellied, mushy overflow of melted cream, raw dough and topped with what seemed like strawberry ice cream. It was terrible. The crème brûlée was served way too warm and there was some sort of liquid in the middle of the custard. I can not justify how this restaurant is 5 star dining by any means.
