Yes, it’s a typical Chinese buffet and you really shouldn’t expect high quality; however, I expect buffets(of all sorts) to provide a good variety of consistently tasty and fresh regional cuisine. With that said, Golden Moon is definitely one of the better buffets over all. I have dined at Golden Moon at least once a month for the past eight years and have learned to go as soon as they open for dinner when the food is hot and fresh.(I do not recommend going an hour before closing.) You cannot beat the price for all-you-can-eat crab legs(served at dinner only). The interior needs refreshing, but they do a good job of keeping it clean(including the restrooms). The servers are very attentive and will be right there to clear your plates, refresh your water, and provide additional napkins and a shell cracker for the crab legs.

We used to love this place(food had very good taste, better than other buffets) especially the crab legs until we started to get rotten crab legs, i let the owner know several times that some of the crab legs were rotten and she would just say ok that she would let her distributer know but never went to check on the tray or take it away. This happened 4 separate times until the last time my husband got food poison from them. Too bad we wont be going back there and we are making sure to let our friends and family know about this.

Meh. We come here from time to time and the quality has gotten worse. The price is average for adults, but for some reason I have to agree with others on the kid thing: they charge a lot for little ones, much more than other joints. The buffet is very small, and for the price I’d say it needs more food. We came in today(Saturday) at straight up noon. Very sparse food and a lot of empty pans. They did end up filling them, but only after we got the old stuff. Soups were ok, but as others stated they aren’t hot; they are warmish, but not hot. On a cold day, I’d really like hot food, you know? Service was ok. I doubt we come back. For the price I can spit and hit ten other buffets for the same price or cheaper.

Checked in at 1:15 pm on a Saturday foods left open look dry and some chicken items are chewy. Soups don’t taste good. Sesame chicken was salty. Plus they charge adult rate for kids 10 year old, this is height of greediness. Last visit for us to this place!

Fresh food, usually packed for lunch. Polite servers and welcoming owners. Food is tasty. As far as buffets go, it’s not a huge place, but all the usual flavors are here. Hot and sour soup is better than other places, and same thing for other dishes. I like the fact that there’s a constant rotation, and servers watching the biffet, to make sure the food is not sitting there getting cold.

The food was really bad. We had three in our party and everyone agreed. The soup was cold. The entrees were warm not hot. The food made all of us sick. We mentioned the food as we paid and management said there was nothing they could do. We were there for about 15 mins total. The waiter didn’t seem to care either. We won’t be going back. The fact that there were only a few other people there on a Saturday night should have been a clue but we couldn’t see that until we were seated. Don’t be confused like us. The packed parking lot was for the other area restaurants. We expect excellent service and food when we dine out and we didn’t receive either here.

We eat here every so often. The food is good, but the best part, people standing around the buffet so the children of bad and clueless parents can’t play in the food. Too many people let the kids go and not watch them anymore. There is a lot to be said when you can take your family out for untainted food. Good for them.

Hadn’t been here since I moved to Frisco 4 years ago and now I remember why. Food was either over cooked or undercooked. The only thing that tasted normal was pudding. The waiter circled around two tables and was quick to take away a plate that I left the food on but never once did he think to refill the water. Sorry, I’ll tip for even mediocre service but this time, this service was less than mediocre. And yes, I still left a tip. Avoid this place at all costs.

Well, I’ve been to Golden Moon twice now. The first visit I gave them 5 stars. Unfortunatley, after my 2nd trip, I wish there were negative star ratings. Absolutely didn’t seem like the same place, everything that a Chinese buffet should NOT be. There won’t be a third trip by me. The buffet was almost empty even though I arrived an hour before it was supposed to close, I was assured more food would be brought out… it wasn’t…and then the hostess was extremely rude when I asked for an adjustment to my bill. I had to eat food that had been sitting out for hours that no one else wanted… NEVEREATHERE!

Came here for lunch one day, I must say it as above average. You can get really mediocre experiences at Chinese buffets and this was better than expected. Prices are about $ 8 for lunch and $ 11 for dinner(I think) but with that the usual spread of food. The flavors were not fantastic but they were pretty good, if you’re in the area certainly give this place a try! Not 100% authentic, nor the best you would have ever had but you wouldn’t expect that out of a Chinese buffet right?

When we walked into Golden Moon, we were immediately embraced by an aroma akin to a Louisiana bait shop in July — assertive, complex, unique, even mysterious(under the circumstances). Probably our fault for arriving so early in the afternoon(6:30pm), but the staff seemed somewhat surprised(unhappy?) to see us. However, it was very easy for them to find us a table, as there were many choices and the dining room was extremely brightly lit. I will say the staff was efficient — communication was limited, precise and utilitarian(no time wasted on introductions, niceties, and pestering us to see if we needed anything). We must have arrived after a huge rush(there was a crowd in excess of 8 in the restaurant), because all of the selections in the buffet were well depleted and looked like one might imagine Donald Trump after a Bikram Yoga class. Golden Moon clearly specializes in veggie dishes because even though many of the descriptions included adjectives such as; «beef» or «chicken» or even«shrimp», vegetables were the overwhelming focus, regardless. Also, and fortunately, there wasn’t the distraction of a bar or extensive choice of beverages to contend with amidst the plethora of vegetable options. As we left, we appreciated the fond farewell from the kitchen employee enjoying a cigarette by the front door.

When I first went to this place, It was awesome! And even after they moved into the new building, it was still pretty dang good. Then I ordered delivery once and I was so disappointed. The shrimp had not been washed… It was pretty bad. So, I didn’t go or had a delivery in some time. Back in June, My mother in law and I went for lunch. To my surprise, the place was near empty. That is unusual, because they used to be packed during lunch. Then I got my food and I figured out why it was empty. I have not and will not go back. THEFOODWASAWFUL, THESTAFF use to be so nice. They are rude as all get out now.

I don’t even know where to start. The food is so dry that they may as well have not cooked any of it and instead let it dehydrate. Crusty food, subpar, even by buffet standards. I’m impressed this place is still open.

My mom and i didn’t realize it was a buffet, she had ordered takeout before and thought it was good. We stopped in for lunch on Saturday, not very crowded, food was for the most part replenished. But dry or kinda lukewarm… typical chinese buffet items, fried rice, orange chicken, shrimp and bok choy. it was cheap, $ 8/person, and service was attentive but not hovering, but i doubt we’ll go back. Best thing was the almond cookie.

6 years ago I LOVED this place, seems to me that every resteraunt that changes buildings always loses their«flavor.» Now the food is bland and their is always a shortage of some items. The waiters all stand around staring at the tables which also makes it awkward.

Terrible! Many of the trays only had dried out scraps. Others had cold food. I would have been better off eating McDonalds.

Went on lunch on a Tuesday Abysmal. Everything tastes bland. The sweet and sour sauce was like red food coloring in water. The fried biscuits were terrible. They have«Fried Wontons» but they are not«Crab Rangoon». The chicken was dried out, the«Pork Chop» was like pork jerky. The desserts were stale, the pudding was strangely off tasting, and the ice cream was more ice than cream. Seriously, the ugly $hit I took after eating here was the cherry on the $hit sundae that was my lunch break today… I’ve eaten at plenty of buffets, this is by far and away the worst one I have ever been to!!! My stomach still hurts, and I’m worried that it’s going to be a few days before I pass anything even closely resembling a real and regular turd!

After reading many of the reviews, there seems to be a huge difference between late night dining and lunch. We’ve only gone to lunch but each time we were pleased with the selection and the price. Trays were full and there was an excellent assortment of dishes. I’m not a fan of Chinese buffets as many of them rely on fried, battered meat and seafood pieces to fill customers up. At Golden Moon, everything seemed fresh and — thank goodness — unbattered.(Except where it made sense.) The meat/veggie dishes were not overly heavy on veggies, but were nicely balanced. There were many of our favorite choices, and some new ones such as pork chops with onion, pineapple chicken, and spiced chicken kebabs. The service is excellent and the place is kid-friendly. Chinese desserts always leave something to be desired(gelatin and odd pudding) but, as long as they have those round sugared donut balls, brownies or cake, and soft serve ice-cream, we and the grandkids are happy.

We’re getting ready to move to Frisco, the wife already works there. So, we decided to check out Golden Moon, as you always need to find a go-to Chinese place. In reading the reviews, I was surprised to hear they deliver. We went to the lunch buffet about 12:45 on a Tuesday afternoon. Plenty of seats, quickly seated. The buffet is not as big as the one at The Great Wall, but the food is at least as good if not better, and the price is right!!! Both of us were very pleased with our selections. I had the shrimp with green vegetables, rainbow shrimp(which looked like standard mix vegatable fare), and garlic chicken. Also had a cup of the hot and sour soup. Great service, out the door for less than $ 20 for both of us! We’re fans, and will certainly be back.

We get so many mailers about new Chinese restaurants in the area but Golden Moon Is definitely our go-to Chinese restaurant. I love how easy it is to order from this place. They have all of our info on file, so all I need to do is tell them our food order, and donezo! Food arrives at our home 30 – 45 minutes later! We’ve ordered a few things from GM over the past 2 years, but our favorites are the kung pao chicken and the vegetable lo mein. We add chicken to the veggie lo mein(i’m sure you think we’re crazy because we could just order the chicken lo mein but we like veggies more than chicken so we order the veggie lo mein and add chickent… stop judging!!) I also love the hot and sour soup… perfect for a cold winter day. The food comes in large quantities so we usually eat chinese food two days in a row when we order the lo mein and kung pao chicken. Defeinitely priced right for the quality of the food and the portion size. All of our orders come with complimentary spring rolls and fortune cookies which are yummy! The delivery guy is always soooo sweet and friendly which makes the experience even better. Way to go GM Chinese… keep up the great work!
