Well, Lochrann’s used to be out of *many* things on their menu… now they are out of EVERYTHING on their menu… CLOSED. Out of business. Done. Finito.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for Lochran’s for quite a while now, I’ve been more than a handful of times and my experience has always been enjoyable. I can’t say that anything necessarily stands out but I just like the place in general. I have no idea what authentic Irish food tastes like but I do know that everything I’ve ordered has been really good. They’ve got a good beer selection and prices are very reasonable. Which is nice considering how over priced things typically are in Frico. We’ve always had good service and the crowd is decent. The waitresses are dressed in short plaid skirts which doesn’t exactly contribute to the appeal of this place but at the same time is it really problem? I thinks not. Definitely one of my favorite local places to grab a drink. Give it a shot.

Just had lunch, OHMYWASITGOOD !!! I had their fish chowder, I usually hate fish chowder because it is so strong because they use the junk parts of the fish but this was wonderful. It was about $ 7 for a big bowl and I was so full but I finished it anyways. The place was pretty empty so the service was great. I would highly recommend it for a business lunch. I usually get the fish and chips but wasn’t in the mood for heavy fried food but I think I have a new favorite. Let’s do lunch !!!

I went here with my bestie to see my fave band play. Had it not been for that I would have never known this place existed. But, I’m glad I do now. It has a decent beer selection and the menu looked great. We ordered the appetizer sampler: crab cake, wings, sliders and a potato quesadilla things. All were fantastic! If you’re in the area, stop in. On the weekends they have live bands. I’ll go back for sure!

Here’s my update for Lochrann’s. It’s been awhile since my wife and I have been here. We’ve become a bit smitten The Londoner and it’s fantastic beer selection. We’ve been missing out. Here’s what I like about Lochrann’s. It has a Cheers type vibe. Everybody seems to know each other. Our waitress was very friendly and was terrific all night long. She even introduced us to a new beer. They have bands on the weekends. I could care less if they are cover bands, as long as they don’t suck it’s all good. Plus, watching people dance is always a good time. Lochrann’s is a good time. The beer selection might not be as good as some other places but the friendly, fun atmosphere is something that will keep us coming back.

I went here to hear a band with a buddies that live nearby. I was blown away that we had some very awesome places to hang out in Far North Dallas. I mean we have Old Town Plano, the Shops and now this. The décor was pretty authentic to Irish pub. The beers were plentiful and full. For pub food it is pretty good, as I would expect in a real Irish or English pub. I am a health nut so my taste buds are very different from most people: too salty and creamy for me but taste good. The wait service was awesome. The night I went the bartending service was a bit short staffed but over all I think it was a good experience and I would definitely come here again to hear more bands.

Lochran’s is an interesting entry into the ever-growing phenomenon of Americanized«Irish» pubs. Now, having never been to Ireland, I have no clue about its authenticity, but if Irish food is as horrible as I’ve been told it is, then Lochran’s «traditional irish food» is exactly that. They have a summer menu with a cheese plate and fish tacos and salads and whatnot, though I think this diverts a bit from the whole Irish theme. What I will say is that this is one of the few places I’ve gotten a shamrock drawn into the head of my Guinness, which is a little touch I really appreciate. And they do the two-part pour, something else I really appreciate. It’s another one of those places that uses distracting waitress outfits to divert your attention from everything else going on, and for the most part I suppose it works if you’re the sort of rubbernecking douchebag that goes for that sort of thing. The crowd mix is… unique. You’ll find everything from young hipsters to ed hardy sporting douchebag meatheads to middle aged Frisco-ites, all drinking and seemingly having a good time. The crowd is usually decent, and it’s clean, and pretty nice overall. Monday night poker nights are the big draw, honestly, and really it’s worth coming just for that. The people who play are nice, and the waitresses are attentive, even if they are wearing plaid skirts that I find out of place for some reason. Give it a shot, it isn’t bad.

Lochrann’s was very crowded the night I went due to the Jimmy Buffet concert at Pizza Hut Park. The pub is literally right across the street from the front entrance to the stadium and makes a perfect before or after event stop. The staff was nice and as accommodating as possible considering the gigantic crowd. The crowd was standing room only and getting up to the bar to order a drink was difficult. This bar was extremely loud– difficult to hear the person standing next to you but awesome for people watching. We mosied back over to Lochrann’s after the show to have a nightcap while everyone else battled to get out of the parking lots and on the Dallas North Tollway. An added bonus was that the opening act from the concert, Ilo Ferreira, was playing a set at the bar. Will definitely go back sometime when they don’t have an event going on and enjoy the patio.

Awesome food! They even helped out with our tickets to a concert. Could not have had a better experience. Great staff! Fish and chips were very tasty(awesome round crispy outside and soft inside fried potato«chips») Shepherds pie was tasty. It’s not an overwhelming amount, but more than enough to satisfy me. We stopped for lunch before heading to EdgeFest 20. Realized after ordering that we forgot the tickets. I e-mailed the manager the ticket information and he printed them out for us while we were eating lunch. It saved us from having to go and find a location to print the tickets. VERYVERY helpful staff. The food wasn’t quite a full five stars, but everything else made it a home run for us. Gotta love places that take care of customers. Lochrann’s — YOUROCK!!!

I would really give this place 4.5 stars… I loved the décor in this place. They have kilkenny on tap — um ONTAP! Also, they make the only kick-ass mexican martini in the metroplex — THEONLYONE. We went when they had a band going on. There was a separate area for the band so the sound isn’t overpowering. The best decision we made? That would be sitting at the bar ordering our food. That’s where you get the best service. Our bartender was awesome. She was quick with the food and the drinks. Oh and BTW the girls wear trampy little outfits… I just WISH I could look that good in plaid. We ordered the Leprechaun’s gold. At first I thought it was wrong because they potatoes were cold, enter the scolding hot brown gravy. I want to learn how to make this. A great starter. Then we ordered the chicken and bacon boxty. Ah I loved it. It was wonderful, wonderful. Great, great choice and I haven’t had a boxty yet in Dallas since leaving Austin. So this was a nice surprise and it was just as good if not better than I remembered it. I agree with Todd. Leave the kids at home. This is a nice intimate pub, that I wish was just a pub with the awesome food. If you do take the kiddos, best to go during lunch. It is more rockin’ and hoppin in the evenings.

Cool spot, but gets so busy at times that can’t get a drink without really fighting for spots at bar.

As far as I know, and I’ve lived in Frisco for almost 4 years, this is the best Irish pub in the Downtown Frisco area. I would love it if the pub were a free-standing building with its own parking lot. In fact, the parking situation is the only negative point of this bar. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. The bar is set up in a friendly way, where it won’t take very long to be noticed if you need a drink. I have often found it very easy to sit at the bar for hours because the service is so embracing. The food is nothing really special. It’s the typical pub fare, which is never a bad thing. Their fish and chips are good quality and will satisfy the appetite. I would highly recommend trying the cheese boards or the hummus(it’s spicy). I will say, for a bar, the ladies’ restroom was VERY clean! I was relieved when I walked in and found a quiet, well-lit, clean bathroom in a bar. Such a rarity. They even have a little«foot-pull» for the door so you don’t have to touch anything after washing your hands. Love it!!! The beer selection is awesome. The prices are average. I visit Lochrann’s at least 4 times a year and love every visit.

Best beers in Frisco(try the Smithwick’s), and the food is surprisingly good for a pub. Lochrann’s has earned a spot on our regular rotation.

When looking for a place that was a little different than the standard lunch fare we came across Lochrann’s and thought to give it a shot. While other reviewers have given it less than perfect reviews, I was thoroughly impressed. We ordered a cheese plate and the grilled chicken cobb salad(the waitress went ahead and split if for us and was very willing to serve two different dressings). We were pleasantly surprised and both commented on an excellent lunch. The salad was really good and the cheese plate was a perfect addition(and well worth the $ 13). To end with(and the reason for –1 star) my one complaint is the lack of an extensive beer list(although they did provide a paper copy). For a pub, their list did not seem to offer as many choices as say Liberty Hall or The Old Monk. While I could tell the place was probably a completely different establishment on a Saturday night, we will definitely go back for lunch.

I love the Irish soda bread here, and the chowder. I have been to Ireland and it is very similar. We have been there a few times and only once have I had to send something back(which I normally don’t do, but our waiter insisted he get me something else). They just swiched out my order instead of comping it — which is great, I don’t go places and expect free stuff. We left and came back later that night for the band, but the accoustics were terrible and it was way too loud. They need some padding where the band is playing or open a door or something. It was uncomfortable. But as far as beer and food go, its great!

This is in regular rotation at our house. I am quite a fan of the corned beef sandwich. One of the few places around here that pour a decent pint of Guinness. We have sampled quite a few items on the menu and they have all been good.

We returned to Lochrann’s on the 4th to hear a band and enjoy some free fireworks, and our waiter was TERRIBLE. While we waited for our appetizers(45 minutes), two of his tables got up and walked out. Another waitress came over to help him and he was still forgetting to put people’s orders in. Towards the end of the night, he came by our tables and tried to push water on us, as in, «So, a round of waters for everyone?» I looked him square in the eye and asked for another Newcastle. No one at our table was loud, or obnoxious, or acting drunk. In fact, half of our party arrived after I did and had only ordered one beer from our waiter. I realize waiters are trained to look for people who may be too drunk, but he wouldn’t know a drunk Pirate if she smashed a pint glass over his head. By the end of the night our entire table thought our waiter was not only a dumb-ass, but a dick as well. The food was good. The band was good. The fireworks were awesome. Oh, and they now have a beer list in a hard-copy format.

Agree with all reviews limited beer and how did we even know? Come on in an Irish pub have a beer menu, we had Fish and Chips and loved it We stopped in because we had an hour to kill and it was fun but the music is WAYTOOLOUD! We’ll try again if we have another hour to kill, best for now in that area.

The first time my wife and I tried Lochrans they had only been open a week. Our first impression was they opened too soon(kitchen smoke was vented into the restaurant, the waitstaff was slow and unattentive, music too loud, etc.). But having been back a few more times, we like it. They seem to have gotten their early opening jitters behind them and have a nice pub on their hands. Good selection of beers and good food for the most part. The only issue we still have is the music is sometimes too loud so it’s hard to carry on a converstaion. If they would just tone it down a bit, and lower the lights, it would be a really great pub experience for Frisco, Texas.
