Great Spring Mixed Greens and Grilled Chicken Salad, I had! Check out the historical photos of Frisco inside. Wait in line and order – the wait in line is worth it. Get your drink and sit down and they bring your food right to you. Of course, they give you A LOT. I took home half of my salad for later(great house creamy vinaigrette)!

The Depot Café! In the hustle and bustle of new Frisco square, it can be hard to find a bit of nostalgia. What used to be a small railroad town is now home to DFW’s first IKEA location, brand spanking new retail and restaurants, and enough shopping to satisfy any fashionista. BUT. In their midst… Depot Café. Depot Café has been around since 1960 and it feels like it. The recipes are fantastic and taste homemade, the atmosphere takes you back to a simpler time, and the service just can’t be beat. They have a daily lunch special that’s always a steal. And you HAVE to get a piece of cake to top it all off. We try to support local businesses as often as possible — and the Depot Café is one that everyone in Frisco should know and love!

Everything here is superbly delicious!!! The catfish is like butter and just melts in your mouth. The grilled chicken is probably the best grilled chicken I have ever tasted. This a flavor-filled gold mine that more people need to discover! Just YUM

Sorry folks, I just don’t get it. My wife and I came for lunch. The staff was very friendly. However, the food is over priced. My hamburger was essentially burnt. My wife’s chicken tenders were ok, but the black eyed peas were bland at best. I love supporting local places, but I definitely won’t be back for lunch or dinner. We may try breakfast at some point.

We just love this place. It’s like a big hug. Honestly, it’s not a 5 star place — come on, it’s not trying to be, but it IS carb heaven. It’s reliable, cozy and it somehow strikes a balance between truck stop diner and grandma’s kitchen. It’s consistently good for all of the breakfast staples. My family tends to gravitate toward the B & G, the chicken fried steak, or both. :) My only small and I mean small complaint would be with the«chopped» sausage in the gravy. I’m a texture person and that seems a little out of the ordinary, but I can live with it. I prefer ground sausage that is well blended. At the end of the day — whatever, right? You can count on it to be busy to the tune of a line on the weekends and that only reassures you that it’s worth the wait. You grab your own drinks, condiments and utensils before you find a spot to enjoy this comfort food dream. oh and if you need snacks, drinks, gum or gas — just pop over to the other side. It’s like reversible shorts! Twofer. Enjoy!

I have been here 4 times in the last few weeks for breakfast and every time the food and service have been excellent! The biscuits are the best! A warm welcome, and the comfort of community are inside. Coffee is good, bacon and sausage… Mmm… it’s hard to decide which one. And, the gravy. You have to have gravy. They have lighter options as well.

Thanks to Unilocal we gave this place a try for breakfast. We have driven by s few times before but the large number of day laborers in the parking lot was a turn off. I am glad we decided to get a parking spot and go in. The place is very clean and the staff is super friendly. The breakfast was well prepared and tasty. I love this kind of one off restaurant. The locals know this is a great place. If you are from out of the area, check it out. I think you will like it!

My wife likes this place and keeps bringing me back. Try as I might to take her to better establishments like Starwood Café. But she always says how good the coffee is. Sweetie, we didn’t come here just for coffee… LOL. Well today was another bad meal. I ordered the midges with hash browns. When I ordered, I asked for the hash browns to be cooked throughout and the normal front lady told me that she could not guarantee that. That was a sure red flag of what was to come. How could she not see to that? Well anyways, here is the summary of the food: MIgas — plain scrambled eggs with old nacho chips in them. There was nothing mexican about them and did not come with the salsa that was listed. I informed them of the issue and their fix was to just to give me some sauce on the side instead of re-doing the eggs. Hash browns — patty style, unevenly cooked… not good beans — taste like they come from a can with some sprinkled cheddar cheese on them. This is like my 10th time here at the breakfast spot in 4 years in Texas. Trust me when I tell you there are other local places with much better quality.

The only bad thing I could say is that it’s connected to a gas station. I was really skeptical when my husband brought me here. But the gas ends out side. Inside is a full blow restaurant with all the comforts you could ask for. Some of the prices are a little high for the cake and drinks but the food was amazing and the people are super nice and friendly. Btw, best chicken fried steak ever. Even better than Babes Chicken. The gravy, breading and meat had its each seperate flavor and it was melded together nicely when you bit into it. Everything else was good, but the chicken fried steak was the highlight and out did anything else we ordered.

Finally convinced the hubs to go to breakfast here and we enjoyed it! Order at the counter and grab your utensils, drinks, etc. Great home cooking, classic breakfast for the family. Prices were very reasonable and they just take pride in serving good classic food, no frills. Don’t be shy, give it a try!

Well, the location is in the same building as a gas station with numerous day laborer people outside. Not sure what I expected 1 I was approached by 7 guys looking for a job as I parked. 2 I was approached by same 7 guys on way out 3 I had the meat loaf. Looked like a brick, tasted worse the people inside were great, very friendly. I wish I was able to say the same about my food. This is my 2nd experience here(first time coworker brought food to me). That meal wasn’t horrible, but nothing to write he about.

The Depot is a Frisco standard, and for good reason. The owner/operators couldn’t be nicer, the kitchen and wait staff are friendly, and the food is good. If you’re going for breakfast, get an omelette or classic pancakes. Sit down, get comfortable and enjoy Classic Frisco as the regulars come in for their morning coffee and to chat about the day, have bible study, or meet about something important. They are known for their breakfast, but I recommend their Meatloaf lunch special. A generous portion of homemade meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. If you don’t pay attention you’ll miss that you get one of the giant slices of chocolate cake that are sitting on the counter. Pick one up and prepare to enter food coma status.

I know there are many great reviews, which is why we finally ate breakfast at The Depot. However, after our meal I really wonder if the reviews are of the same restaurant. Location and a full parking lot makes you think this is a hidden local gem.(I won’t go into having to swerve through day laborers staring your family down as you walk from the car.) You walk into the place and has great feel but then you immediately realize this is counter service only. Ok… fine, no problem. Open up the menu and quickly see that the prices are that of a full service mid-scale restaurant($ 7.00+ for 2 pancakes). Sure… we will stay and see what the hype is about. Find a table… very dirty and sticky. Stand in line to get our silverware and napkins. Now I am thinking the food must be incredible because who would pay a premium for breakfast when compared to an IHOP or LePeep that is a full service restaurant. Received the food… seriously? I must be on a hidden camera show. Their sausage gravy was out of a package with a sausage puck cut up. Really? Anyone who has ordered this at a real restaurant knows you use crumbled sausage. Who in their right mind would return unless they like paying high prices. Do yourself and others a favor should you try this restaurant. Take your money that you would normally spend here, give half to a few of the day laborers and take the other half to IHOP. You will have the same quality and amount food and help someone in need at the same time.

Made our first stop at the Depot Café and, overall, we were pleased. It’s a little different as you order and pay at the counter before you get your own drinks and seat yourself. The Good: The bacon is crispy and delicious, the food is delivered quickly and the prices are reasonable. The Not As Good: Nothing was particularly bad, but there was plenty of average. The scrambled eggs were ok, the country fried steak was decent but the gravy was bland. The toast had a strange texture, but tasted ok. The pancakes were solid, but nothing to write home about. The Verdict: A perfectly decent breakfast stop. Don’t set your expectations too high and you will enjoy yourself.

The food was average, nothing super special. The staff could be more friendly by greeting the customer’s. If its your first time to this place you don’t really know what to do when you enter. There’s no sign and no one to greet you. You figure out that you stand in line, order your food then go get a table. Over all it was just okay.

Pretty good for breakfast. Has your basic eggs, pancakes and bacon. Omelettes were a little lacking in the fillings. Prices are great though.

Ate here for breakfast for the first time today and we are sure glad to have discovered this place! It wasn’t too crowded but had a decent amount of customers. You order at the counter before sitting down. My son and I both had pancakes and bacon. The bacon was crisp and the pancakes were extra fluffy. I would definitely order them again. My husband had biscuits and sausage gravy. He can be picky, but he enjoyed his too. The coffee was good and fresh. The place has a comfortable and laid back atmosphere about it and was clean. We will definitely come back again during lunch or dinner time to try those menu items as well. Edited: This is now my absolute favorite place for breakfast in Frisco! I’ve tried many many menu items since my original review and never been disappointed. The chorizo is my new favorite. The homemade salsa makes it even better.

I’ve always been of the opinion that wherever you find all of the work trucks at lunch is gonna be a great place to eat. It might not be the most healthy and you might not get much done that afternoon, but you’re going to eat well. The Depot is the proof of this rule. Great home-style food(want to sleep through the rest of the day? Have the chicken fried steak!) with a few surprises(Catfish tacos? Delicious!) You might miss it for the gas station, but it’s definitely worth the U-ie!
